Author's Note: This book is meant to be read after books 1-7 of the Latvala Royals series.
Long before Latvala became a country, two men fought a bitter battle to claim control of the land. The outcome of their feud fell into the abyss of time, subdued and forgotten in the centuries to follow.
This is the story of a younger generation looking for answers that don't want to be found. Elias Ahtissari is as stubborn as his father, the king, however, and doggedly pursues clues that lead him ever closer to the truth.
It's a truth he could have never imagined.
Along the way, he runs into an old acquaintance, Inari Ascher, who will one day be queen in a neighboring country. He uncovers a plot on Inari's life that splits his attention between one mystery and another and is determined to solve both before time runs out.
Born and raised in Corona California, Danielle now resides in Texas with her husband and two sons. She has been writing for as long as she can remember, penning works in a number of genres. To date, she has published 49 novels and nine short stories. Her interests vary wildly: reading, traveling, photography, graphic art and baking, among others.
I was dying to read about the next generation of Latvala royals, and Elias’s story is exciting from the first page. Inari is a feisty heroine and isn’t a typical pampered princess. I really hope there will be more books about Elias’s siblings and friends.
A look at the next generation of Ahtissaris. Danielle's story of Elias does not disappoint. He shares many of the qualities from his father Sander (the reigning King of Latvala). Yet, Elias is also his own man. He's all grown up from the kid we read about in the previous books. He unearths some hidden history and he vows to find all the answers. Elias has his Princely duties to keep up with in the mean time. His presence is requested at a social gathering for the royals from other countries. While there he runs into an old friend, Inari Ascher. Suddenly there's an attack on Inari and now Elias has another mystery he wants answers to as well.
This book will take you on a twisty ride and you can't even predict what's just around the corner. Hang on tight, because it's totally worth every page turn to find out what happens next.
I loved the history that unfolded and was discovered about the Ahtissari past. I also enjoyed the intrigue and solving the assassination attempts on Inari’s life. What I did not enjoy was Elias and Inari’s relationship. Miss Bourdon did not explain at all how two heirs to two different kingdoms could have a long term relationship. It didn’t sit well with me so I didn’t take it seriously.
I love this series and thought it had ended; I was very excited to see the next generation cont on with the potential of many more to come; delightful story. I like it is a mix of romance and mystery.
Recently my wife got me into reading again. Something I haven't done in many years. This entire series has had my interest captivated. I have read all 8 books in the last two months. Please write more on this series.
So what was the reason Valentina put out the hit? If they're going broke wouldnt she want her son to marry the future queen?
And wasn't he suppose to talk to Wolfe about 'business?
That was the only part that didn't make sense, the whole assassination part could have been left out and just focus on the bloodline mystery. Guess we had to find a way to get them together somehow.
I have read all of the books in the Royals series and have enjoyed them all. After waiting patiently for this installment, it did not disappoint. I loved that the book included glimpses into Latvala's past history. I can't wait to see what happens next with Elias and Inari. I was happy to see that Sander made a few appearances in the book, but I would have liked to see Chey in it as well. All in all, another great read.
