This book was listed as a "love story" and I didn't see any love or passion in this book. One could argue that Dacia fell in love with her drug, as an addict often does. It was extremely graphic: I think "edgy" is too tame a word to use to describe it. Not sure about all the group sex stuff but many of the things she does to manipulate others and eventually what she does to obtain her drugs shows the downward spiral of her addiction. The story itself was very captivating for that reason and I did read it in two sittings yesterday.

As 12-step literature states, addiction leads to "jails, institutions, dereliction and death" and the book contained all of these results to the various characters. While we as a nation are in the grips of a deadly opioid crisis, I don't think this was a very good way to discuss recovery. Why not just say that she didn't care for meetings instead of naming a particular fellowship.

Working with people with addictions my eyes were already opened to how drugs become the centre of a persons world. I found the writing very well written and really flowed making me want to read one more chapter every time I said I would stop. This is kind of how the part of the theme of the book is. Just one more then I’ll stop...
Found the relationships (loose description) a bit skewed, but maybe that’s because of the protagonist’s own skewed perspective that what she saw as just sex was abuse on many levels.
A great book that will leave you wanting more.... reading that is.

This book was a very raw perspective of how drugs can affect not only the person doing it but also the people around them. I really enjoyed reading this book because it was so upfront on what addiction is and all the turmoil that goes along with it. Just remember to check the trigger warnings and make sure this book will be a good read for you.

Glue is amazing! I loved how gritty it is. It's very to the point, real and raw. I love that Plato isn't afraid to say it like it is in this book! I love the characters, they feel like authentic people and it's easy to feel like you're right there with the characters.

Dacia was finally free from her abusive husband. She had her whole new life ahead of her. FREEDOM...she was free to start over again. She had a chance to take back her life. She had a new job and moving back to her childhood neighborhood.

This is a story about drugs and sex... basically addiction. Dacia makes old connections with her childhood friend, made new friends at work and at a bar she frequents. She gets sucked up into a world of alcohol, drugs and sex. She had a great job that allowed her a chance to travel. And so much time to do a lot of things because of her working time schedule.

The fast drug life sucked her up so quickly she was way in too deep into addiction. She became entangled with people who fueled her drug and sex addiction. She was slacking at work, she was pale, not eating or sleeping enough and also pushing away the good people in her life, like Joy and Suzy.

My favorite scene has to be when Dacia and Christopher went on their first date. The way he made her feel about herself, and treated her like a lady way better than all the other men in her live. And when she slowly fell in love with him, I believed he was good for her.

The book is well written. I kept turning the pages. The sex scenes are very descriptive and very visual, they use simple and easy to read language makes it better. The characters all make a good connections together. Dacia had a set of good and bad friends in her life and that made the whole story come together. The storyline is realistic and addresses real life issues.

The book made me happy and sad. I cried and got angry. It was nice to walk with Dacia in her journey to deal with her issues she had kept hidden. She used drugs and sex to avoid and not deal until she finally had to see how the whole addiction affected her life. In the end, she finds she is pregnant and starts sorting her life together and checks herself into rehab which was a brave move for her.

This was an amazing read. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic novels and also doesn't mind very descriptive sex scenes.

Glue by D.W. Plato is definitely not your typical romance, if you classify it as romance at all. It is a brilliantly told tale of drug addiction: it's cause, it's consequences, and it's cure.

Plato sets the stage giving the reader just enough information to feel Dacia's loneliness, despair, and hope. Her only lasting connection is found in the discovery that a childhood friend is living in the town she now lives. The new connections she makes are mostly in her state of loneliness and despair, as well. One of these new connections, Mari, introduces her to a relatively new-to-the-market substance: crystal meth.

Crystal meth, or glue, releases inhibitions, heightens senses, and fuels energy. It's a wild ride of drugs, sex, and travel for Dacia and her friends even as Dacia keeps telling herself she's going to quit. It's harder than she realizes, though, until something happens that gives her the permanent connection she needs to fill that void.

If you've never lived in the drug use and abuse culture and want to understand it, this is an excellent resource. I would recommend it to anyone trying to understand a loved one who is sucked up into this culture.

Cudos to Plato, also, for vividly describing the sex scenes without the gory details. These scenes were necessary to the story and in no way gratuitous.

To be honest, I did not expect to like this book - much less be unable to put it down. Dacia is a major drug addict who pretty much sells her body and soul for the sake of it. Now, mind you, I’m an old lady. I don’t know a thing about meth or drugs at all, except what I take for my blood pressure and arthritis. And OMG, Dacia gives “it” away like there’s no tomorrow. Everything about this book should have been way out of my comfort zone. Yet there I was, so absorbed in this book that my daughter chided me more than once, saying, “Mom, you didn’t hear a thing I said.” “Wait. Just let me finish this chapter!” Yeah. I think I’d better treat my daughter to dinner and a movie.
P.S. Remember that name, D.W. Plato. :)
P.P.S. I do wish that the font had been larger.

Be aware that this book is in very small print and could cause eye strain.
That being said, I am not sure how this book managed all the five stars? This book is about sex and drugs, drugs and sex, and more sex and drugs. The sex is not even erotic, it is animalistic. It is about a woman who has low self-esteem and low morals. If you did not know a lot about drugs prior to reading this book, you certainly will when you are finished.

It is also about drinking and driving, drugs and driving and a whole lot of partying.

This is not really my type of book as it had too much of everything!

I received this book free from Goodreads for a honest opinion.

The novel was very outstanding especially the plot. It's not just a novel that want to tell you a story, but a novel to show how a single line of cocaine or should I say "Glue" can affect to your life. You might ended up in jail, or dead because of being a drug addict. But if you choose to change, it was never be late. So I recommend this novel if you are into a naughty but also like to know what is like to be a drug addict. The author of this novel is absolutely genius!

I’ve always said that the best books and the best authors are the ones who are not afraid to dwell on controversial topics that tend to stir up debate. This is why I have to praise D.W Plato for giving readers an honest book that displays the origin and the aftermath of an individual that is trapped in the world of addiction. In her book, ‘Glue’ D.W. Plato takes the reader through Dacia’s journey as she struggles to find herself and find happiness, and how, unfortunately, in the process of doing that, she’s led down a path of basically self-destruction.

From deciding to leave her abusive husband to going back to her roots, to craving freedom from her addiction to drugs and sex, and to finding help in the one person she least expected, D.W. does a phenomenal job at showing the reader the reality of substance dependency and how much addiction can psychologically control a person. This book was honestly an intense rollercoaster of emotions and I LOVED IT! It was frustrating (in a good way) reading how Dacia goes from being in denial to clearly wanting to take control of her life and do better, but she just kept taking a downward course. Apart from the fact that the writing style was addictive and wonderfully done, this right here is one of the reasons why I loved this book so much because it truly shows the dark side of addiction, how complex it can be, and how it can affect someone both physically and emotionally.

I also appreciated the fact that the content was very explicit because I think that to show the reality of addiction and how it can consume the life of a person, the unraveling of the story needed to be raw. D.W. Plato achieves this! She creates a realistic storyline addressing a real-life issue. For instance, I loved the ending, and I don’t want to SPOIL anything, but the reader feels proud of Dacia at the end of the book because she ends up being very brave. The reality is that addiction is a topic that should and needs to be talked about. Period. This is why I 100% recommend this book to readers who are open-minded and want a page-turner book.

Again, I want to thank the author for writing this book in the first place because we truly need more stories like this one that narrates a real-life issue.

This story is rough. I’ve never been one for drugs of any kind, or junkies, for that matter. The appeal of this story to me is seeing how one mistake can lead to a downward spiral. It doesn’t pull any punches and gives the down and dirty details on all of Dacia’s life. It was done well, it made me feel for a junkie whose problems were all her own causing.

the narrator is absolutely awful. She sounds like she’s in a hurry, never pausing naturally while doing dialogue. At one point, the audio recording ended and another started and it sounded like she had a raspy throat. It sounded as if she just got over a cold, her throat was still scratchy, and she decided to record anyway.

She says made-up words, such as “onvelope”, “farmiliar”, “ashfault”, and can’t tell the difference between O and Zero. She also speaks everything in the same inflection and gives every character the same voice, making it a pain in the ass to tell who the hell was who. If I wanted every character to sound the same, I’d just read it myself instead of listening to an audiobook. One additional issue is toward the end, there’s an entire chapter that’s repeated. A chapter header is placed before it, which is odd, it makes me wonder if one was missing from the audiobook.

Glue is gripping and sad, it’s moving, and it reads like a memoir and while I recommend it, I suggest you skip the audiobook version and go eBook or physical.

Dacia runs away from her abusive husband and moves 500 miles away from him.
But instead of finding peace she finds herself caught in a mess of 'powder', 'intercourse' and a load of bad choices.
Will she find the self confidence that she's looking for or will she always remain in bad situations?
🦄🦄🦄
Glue: Dacia's Diary by D.W. Plato is a Adult novel that is semi-erotic, semi-emotional and very heavy.
Multiple chapters are just focused on 'intercourse' and 'powder' was just too much for me to read.
I'm someone who does read erotic books but this was just way too much for me.
Dacia's character shows a lot of immaturity and that's what I would expect when a parent says pleasing a man is more important than anything else.
Yes, she was in a bad predicament with her marriage, but the choices she made after was very immature and makes her very unlikable.
She changed her ways in the last few chapters which just sped through so it wasn't the way I was expecting the book to end after going through every other detail about her life.
🦄🦄🦄
It wasn't a great read but maybe with a few adjustments, omissions and more depth to the story it could be better.

Glue is the second book penned down by the author DW Plato. However, it's the first installment in Dacia's Diary Book series. Main characters of the story are Dacia and Christopher.

Dacia was married to Leonard who was twenty years older than her. He has abused her verbally and Dacia has decided to leave him. When she informed Leonard that she is leaving him, he seems fine with her decision. Dacia got lonely. She doesn't have a family to which she could go.

So, she moved in to a new home owned by her new landlady Suzy. In her new neighborhood, she met her childhood friend Kristine who works as a cashier. Kristine is into weeds and she even involved Dacia in it. Grab a copy of this book to read about Dacia's journey involving powder, intercourse, etc.

Since the contents of this book are mature, so it is recommended only for adult readers. Dacia's character is written in a way that shows the immature decisions she took in life. I loved this story. The scenes described in the book are detailed and author has managed well to write about them.

What a ride!

I'll be honest with you, I wasn't really into it until about 40% in, but from there it was hard to put down. I believe it was because at that point in the book, I decided to look at it in a different manner. This was posed to me as an erotic romance, which I disagree with.

What this book really is, is a first hand view of the chaotic life of an addict. It's messy, it's dangerous, sometimes it can be kind of sexy, but most of all it is STRESSFUL!

It wasn't a sexy book in my opinion though, which is alright. There was a lot of sex that happened but it was very much wham-bam-thank-you-maam. It also felt like a lot of the sex scenes were lacking any consent, which was a little uncomfortable. However, as I said if you are looking at this as a story of an addict's life, I think it makes sense.

It was written nicely & I'm glad I got to read it.

I received the novel 'Glue' by D.W. Plato through a Goodreads 'Giveaway'.

I was fortunate that I was rarely confronted with the temptation of drugs in my youth. So my naivety on the subject is disgraceful!!
But through reading this novel (and a little 'Google' research) I became aware of the chaotic reign 'Meth' has on it's users.

Dacia's story is a startling realistic interpretation of the highs and lows of drug use plus dealing with the agony of what 'the Meth Hurricane' has left behind.
It's a world a person like me can only imagine but still feel that familiar ache of empathy in the centre of my heart.

Books like 'Glue' are the reason I love reading... and author's like D.W. Plato are the reason I'll never give up...

I thank BOOKTASTERS for recommending me the lovely written reads of Mrs. D.W. Plato.
This book is lovely written and it enlightened me to know more about drug addict and their lifestyle.
I was quite happy that she went free from her abusive husband, thought that her life will change and was very optimistic, but the events got changed and she met people from here and there, got stuck with alcoholic and addicted people, and into sexual relations.
I really felt too bad for her, she went worse I think.
And then comes Christopher, yay!!
He fixed her, and he treated her right, I was eventually relieved.
There was a great explanation for the scenes and characters, I told you the way the author writes her novels is really special and interesting.
I do recommend it.

This is a terrific book for anyone who has struggled with addiction, survived abuse or just has human emotions. Its brilliantly written, full of deep feeling and has a gritty, sometimes dark plot. Its realistic and honest; definitely not sugar-coating anything. I love the author's writing style...it starts out slow and subtle but sneaks up and grabs you when you least expect it and pulls you into the story so you're hooked, almost without realizing it. Its fantastic and I can't wait to read more!

I finished this book in two sittings. The last book I read with such rapid fervor might have been a Harry Potter book. I tend to prefer non-fiction over fiction because it is rare that I find a fiction book that engulfs me the way this one did. If you’re looking for a casual read, this may not be the best book for you. No matter what walk of life you come from, I suspect you will find yourself mesmerized by the story and vested in its characters. ‘Glue’ reads very easily. You will find it difficult to put down. If I hadn’t had dinner plans and homework to work on, I definitely would have finished this book in one sitting instead of two. One of my favorite parts about this book was the ending. I won’t spoil it, but it leaves the reader satisfied. On one hand, you want more and personally, I hope there is a sequel — soon. But on the other hand, the story could very well end where the book ends, and it would be completely acceptable to the reader. The author does a great job in that regard. I recommend this book to anyone who has personally experienced the throes of addiction and I also would recommend this book to someone that hasn’t, as it gives a candid look at the ins and outs of substance dependency. I cannot wait to read more work from the mind of this writer.

Glue begins with the main character, Dacia, engrossed in an abusive relationship. Thinking she can escape this for a better life, Dacia moves miles away to find peace of mind in the comfort of distance and a new job. Dacia is reintroduced to old friends and new ones that lead her down a path of another abusive relationship in the form of the drug meth. We follow Dacia on her journey through the destruction of friendships with hidden agendas, inner demons telling her she can quit right after the next bump, and sex disguised as fractured love. Just when the damage seems like it’s irreversible, true friendships save Dacia from herself before it’s too late.

The author D.W. Plato pulls the reader in to the intensity of addiction and provides a very raw look inside the life of Dacia’s world through a series of dark and troubled decisions which prove to be detrimental to her mind, body and soul.

This was the first audiobook I ever completely finished! I really enjoyed the characters and plot, however, there were a few small errors in the audiobook itself (to no fault of the author.) It had a great mixture of genres, from adventure and psychological, to romantic and a bit racy! I honestly wouldn't have picked it out myself, so I'm so glad I got to listen to it!
Special Thanks to D.W. Plato for giving me a free copy of the audiobook! <3

*I won a copy of this in a Goodreads Giveaway!*

I read this book really quickly, and I think it is an interesting story with good layers adding to the plot. I am happy that this book didn't end how I expected it to. The characters are interesting and the beginning was done nicely.

I would recommend this book to my friends who like: stories about addiction, rooting for an "under dog", and those who don't mind semi descriptive sex scenes.

I would definitely read more books by this author :D

I won this book from Goodreads. I wasn’t sure I would be able to read it because of the tiny print but surprisingly my eyes adjusted. It’s a fast read. I think it’s very educational and would recommend to the younger readers. Very sad what drugs do to people. I am not too sure I liked the way the book ended...felt rushed to me. But 4 stars because it kept me interested.

Dacia leaves her husband for a new life and job in Salt Lake City. After several months of working at an airline call centre, she develops a friendship with one of her colleagues, Mari.

At the same time, Dacia joins Mari in a life of mindless sex and addiction to crystal meth (glue). They regularly make the short flights to visit a supplier to fuel their addiction. Other friends are involved and need their fix as well, so Dacia becomes an unofficial supplier.

The novel ends on an unexpected manner, which I never saw coming.
Despite the very tiny font size, the book was a quick and interesting read. In particular, it really opens the reader's eyes to the powerful hold that addictions have on people.

Thank you GoodReads for the book.

Whoa! Glue? Well.. I can honestly say it wasn’t what I was expecting when I picked to read the book. I haven’t read a similar story like it but I did enjoy it honestly.

The author was straight to the point with the story and didn’t linger around. My actual favorite part of the book is the ending! I love how it turned out and can’t wait to read more books of the author!

This book really delves into the slippery slope of addiction. After implementing a plan that finally lets Dacia leave an abusive marriage, it seems that her life is getting on track at last. However, bumping into an old friend may just spell her death sentence. The two are thrilled to be in each other's lives again, but a few too many hits as well as now being surrounded by a world of drugs, Dacia finds herself losing her health, her stability, and her will to addiction. The author has created a chillingly realistic environment that draws the reader into the pain and struggle of the heroine.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It’s super dark and raw and I really feel for Dacia. Because of her addiction, she faces so much sexual abuse and bad people it just makes me sad. I’m very anti-drug so this drug use for me was all bad, and it seemed super easy for Dacia to move from the lighter stuff to the heavier stuff. I hated a lot of the characters and I felt bad for Dacia throughout the whole book. I felt like every single person in her life, excluding Susie and Joy were bad influences for her. And really, this is not a love story as it says on the description, it’s more a self growth book and fighting addiction kind of book. Well, I guess, if learning to love yourself can be seen as a love story, then this is one.
I didn’t really enjoy the book until the final chapters when she finally gets help and in the end, she chooses herself over the drugs and the bad people. I’m happy she found the right people to keep in her life.

In Glue, by D.W. Plato, we follow Dacia as she leaves her emotionally abusive husband for a new life. But, unfortunately, her new life is a downward spiral into drugs and serial sexual relations. She believes she is in control of her life, but actually she is on a path of self-destruction.

Written in the first person perspective, the reader gains an insight to the denial of a drug addict and the sad consequences of her addiction. At several points she tries to get off the drugs, but is unsuccessful. It becomes a very sad story at this point. The characters were well drawn and empathetic, especially Dacia.

I cannot reveal much more of the story without spoiling it, but it was an enjoyable book. The ending, while satisfying, is a somewhat open-ended, leaving many possibilities for Dacia’s future and the possibility of a sequel.
