The author focuses on the two "New Man" authors - Martin Amis and Ian McEwan - and examines the contradictions that surround the 1990s male. He argues that these two authors, beset by obsessions about paternity in the post-nuclear age, neatly sum up the way the image of the modern man is distorted to present its more reputable aspects, by hijacking traditional female qualities and championing them as their own. The author sweeps away the distortions he perceives in the writing of Amis and McEwan, and lays bare the concept of masculinity.

Saw this on a bookshelf next to some books I had to read. Thought it would be a good supplement, this was not really the case. At least it was super short and not a total waste of time.

Je l'ai vu sur une étagère à côté de livres que je devais lire, j'ai cru qu'il serait un bon supplément, mais ça n'a pas vraiment été le cas. Au moins il était super court et ça ne fut pas une perte totale de mon temps.

Lo vi en una repisa al lado de libros que tenia que leer. Creí que complementaria bien mis otras lecturas, pero no fue así. Al menos esta super corto y no fue una perdida total de mi tiempo.
