The Little Book of Saturn , a smart, friendly introduction to the astrological Saturn, is a book for curious readers who know there is more to astrology than their sun signs. Saturn has traditionally been considered the planet of challenges, but the life lessons that this stern planet brings are necessary for personal growth. This book is suitable for beginners and experts alike. It discusses the influence of Saturn on the natal horoscope, focusing on Saturn in its various places in the birth chart and exploring the various transits, especially the return(s), which brings with it a period of transition that is often feared, but Aliza Einhorn shows you how to understand and navigate them with confidence.
This tiny little book is so packed with information it’ll make your head spin, seriously. Not only will it help you understand your own fears and limitations, but it can help you read your entire chart. I highly recommend having a copy of your own chart handy while reading to serve as great examples of some of the concepts!
Saturn is often referred to as the taskmaster of the zodiac. It rules things like limitations and boundaries, time, duty, karma, discipline and, as Aliza explains, fear. Saturn teaches us hard lessons, but this book gives it to you straight in such a fun and loving way. Aliza takes this heavy astrological topic and makes it exciting and engaging. The first part of the book gives a great overview of what astrology is (and isn’t), and some of the basics like birth charts, planets, and houses. Even if you’re familiar with astrology you’ll find this section really well-written and engaging, so I recommend not skipping it!
Then we finally get into the meat and potatoes… errr, hydrogen and helium… SATURN. Not only does she explain what Saturn’s deal is, but she gives you reasons why you should care and be interested. Saturn is one of those planets that I feel a lot of people like to just ignore or avoid, but this book makes you want to dive right in. She explains Saturn in the signs and houses, and most importantly she goes into great detail about everyone’s second favourite metaphysical boogeyman – SATURN RETURN.
Saturn return is a pretty hot topic for astrology fans lately, no doubt because the generation(s) that really have been making astrology trendy again are either approaching or just past theirs. (Mine happened in 2016!) Your Saturn return is when the planet Saturn returns to the place in the sky it was when you were born. This happens every 29ish years. Aliza explains how to calculate your Saturn return time, and what you can expect based on where Saturn appears in your chart.
I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about astrology, read their own birth chart, or who are coming up against any one of their THREE possible Saturn returns! Not only will The Little Book of Saturn explain this difficult and curmudgeonly planet, but it will no doubt bite you with the astrology bug. A revelation about my own chart and its lack of Saturn despite my Capricorn sun got me fully and completely obsessed. Now I can’t stop digging!
I love this book! I was looking for a book that covered specific parts of my Saturn placement that other books only briefly talked about. This was it! I also liked how each section offers some practical advice related to the placement. This is very helpful as a lot of stuff out there reads more like a fortune telling rather than something you can sink your teeth into a bit more. The chapter about who Saturn is in astrology was also very helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about Saturn and their Saturn placement in their natal chart!
The Little Book of Saturn: Astrological Gifts, Challenges, and Returns is an enumeration of Saturn (Shani's) best features. Shani or Saturn is a stern instructor who navigates the realm of harrowing and discordant education. We see the greatest teacher in Shani and his gifts given to those whom work diligently and rigorously towards their goals and pursue sadhana with an asceticism. This book is a wellspring of ancient lore and upheavals that speaks to the mystic and astrologers of all classes.
I like how Saturn is not just painted as a dangerous "malefic" to fear. The author takes time to address both the challenges and the benefits, giving a complete picture of how Saturn may affect our lives.
Some reviewers complained about the book not including more in-depth topics like transits and aspects, but the title literally says “little book.”
This is meant to be a basic intro to Saturn and not a definitive resource for advanced practitioners. This is the kind of book you read when you’re new to astrology, and the basics explained here can be a good starting point to dive further into more in-depth books.
For beginners, it's very easy to read and you don't need to know much jargon to grasp the ideas. The author does a great job of covering various elements of Saturn, including the signs, houses, and return cycles, without making the concepts seem complicated for those new to astrology.
I don't understand how some people read this as a surface level book. I'm someone who's been studying astrology for over 15 years and found so much depth of info in this little book. I find myself coming back to it again and again, and getting a new insight or aha moment each time.
I also really appreciate the author's writing style. Aliza is a poetic, beautiful writer that somehow manages to convey important topics in a way that's never fluffy so you walk away with tangible/practical tips and information to support your own journey.
TL:DR: This little book has a permanent place in my library - loved it and I'm excited to see what else this author writes. I'm a BIG fan!
I wish this book went slightly more in-depth about Saturn, like by acknowledging more nuances of Saturn's house placements, or by diving into Saturn's natal aspects and transits. This read as pretty basic and surface-level, but for someone who has no idea about Saturn or Saturn returns, this would probably provide a good amount of insight. I didn't dislike it, but as a book that is so specialized to a single (very important) planet, it lacked the substance I was hoping for.
Think of Saturn as a ladder. The higher you, the greater the fall, but the higher you go, the closer you get to the stars.
I am turning 28 so I have been maybe a little intimidate by my impending Saturn Return. This little book was such a great look at Saturn and how it impacts our charts. I would highly recommend.
Just about to head into my first Saturn return, and some other Transits as well! This book has been invaluable for preparing me for all of that. Thank you!!
Aliza is a gifted writer and spiritual teacher. We normally seek a spiritual teacher when we are experiencing difficult times, and this book can help with understand the lessons Saturn has to teach.
As a good Capricorn, I have always had a great affinity with Saturn, my ruling planet. Its existence has always given me much curiosity and at the same time a lot of inner peace. Saturn is among the most majestic creatures of the firmament, dressed in its golden tones and sheltered behind a series of perfect rings, made literally from cosmic rocks and stardust.
How could one not be curious about it? Finally, someone has taken up the task of recording and supplementing the scarce astrological information previously available about Saturn and delivered it properly broken down and organized in a way that is easy to understand and apply day by day. Finally, Aliza Einhorn's The Little Book of Saturn offers the substantial information I have long sought.
Aliza has given herself the task of creating this incredible book full of effective, comprehensive, and interesting information based on the astrological spirit of Saturn. This is more than an adequate manual for seekers of stars. From magicians to astrologers and from alchemists to modern sorcerers, everyone should have The Little Book of Saturn as an integral part of their collection.
It will teach you to understand the different functions of Saturn in your life, in your daily routine, and even the influence it exerts on your zodiac sign. On behalf of all the future readers of this wonderful book, thank you Aliza for this incredible work."

Very helpful as Saturn is seen as a challenging planet. Aliza presents interesting ideas and a new approach to this topic. I highly recommend this gem.
