The town of Middleton is on edge after three kids go missing from their campground. Did they simply run away? Or did something more menacing happen? Nevertheless, Trey and his friends plan a camping trip to celebrate graduating from Middleton High. But when someone else goes missing, Trey begins to suspect that an otherworldly force is stalking the local lake. Can he and his friends escape before they, too, vanish without a trace?
In Truth or Dare, four teens head to the lake for a final camping trip before leaving town for college. Around the campfire, one tells a story of some teens that disappeared years before while camping. When they decide to play truth or dare, one of the girls ends up disappearing into the woods.
I thought this one was much scarier than Dark Star. Reading this at a 4th grade level, I could see how it might scare some readers. An ax-wielding maniac would kick up the scare factor a notch in any book. The ending was a little to neat for me but I still was entertained. These are definitely books that I will be recommending to my kids' middle school librarian. I think the kids would get a kick out of them.
Tick...Tock....Tick....Tock. Will you make it past midnight? The town of Middleton is on the edge when three kids go missing in the woods. Truth or Dare is a attention grabber yet a thrilling book. Truth or Dare was written by K.R Coleman. I rated this book an overall five out of five stars because of how spine-chilling it was. Truth or Dare was an amazing book. It was very intense but at the same time it thrilling book. "From even deeper in the forest, all of three of them hear the sound of someone chopping wood again. Chop. Chop. Chop. Slow and steady" (Coleman 55). Three kids have gone missing at Lake Helen, a lake no one dares to even step foot in. Trey and his friends have planned a camping trip to Lake Helen. They uncover the biggest secret of all time. Will anyone ever believe them? Right when I started Truth or Dare I knew I would fall in love with it. I never wanted to put the book down. You never could predict what would happen next. That was one of the main points that I absolutely loved. “Trey watches as Dominic grip the steering wheel and lean forward, trying to see the road ahead” (Coleman 12). I would have thought that they were going to crash because the rain was pouring so hard overhead. This book hooked me on like a fish caught on a fishing pole. Spine-chilling books are one of my favorite books. Truth or Dare was full of them. “The engine turns over, and he jerks the car into gear just as the Woodsman’s ax slams against the trunk” (Coleman 80). The Woodsman’s ax slammed against Trey’s truck. That is a perfect example of one of the many spine-chilling twists in the book. You would never know what would happen next right when you would start reading this book. Truth or Dare was an amazing book full of twists. It was spine-chilling, attention grabbing, and a thrilling book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery. I would love to read this book when I would have a chance.
Trey was the character I chose. He is a boy, teenager, explorer, educational, determined. He is also brave, attractive, kind, calm, skinny. I am on page 25 and what has happend so far is that he went on a trip with his friends because they all graduated. So they wanted to go camping. They end up going to the forest were a person went missing and had trouble getting there because of a tree that had fell but then one of his friends noticed that is was chopped off my someone. When they were there they could fell like they were being watched but they didn't seem to care. When they finally got there a man with a beared that sopposeofly works there told them to go camp into the woods but the kids got a bad and negative energy from the guy because he seemed sckechy.
Low level, high interest spooky read for reluctant readers at the middle or high school level... My high schoolers love these books, so figured I'd give one of the spooky reads a try... I liked it and was drawn in, but it got a little cheesy for me though...
pretty stereotypical “kids get lost in the woods” story with some new details. not bad, just kinda eh, but does deliver what was promised so i cant complain
