Follow Fizz through his police dog academy tryouts and training to become a dog detective, and on to his first cases.
In Fizz and the Dog Academy Rescue (Book 2), Fizz starts his training to become an undercover police dog. The police dog tryouts were hard, and skills training will be even harder. But Fizz and his new friend Remi are given an extra challenge to test their detective skills.
Told in simple but very lively language, with lots of playful repetition, short chapters and Stephen Michael King's quirky cartoon-style illustrations throughout, this hilarious and action-packed series is perfect for newly confident readers.
Book 2 in the series revolved around familiar themes of determination & bullying like Book 1, but it also had better use of the theme of friendship and critical thinking. In this book, Fizz is tasked with his first official assignment as an detective police dog and he and his friend at the academy work together to try to find out who is sabotaging other recruits.
The use of clues really helps in critical thinking and my son enjoys trying to figure out the mystery! I think some of the language is above his head (he's almost 5), but he understands the gist of it and loves the suspense!
What a great follow up to the first book in this series. Here we join Fizz as he trains at the Sunnyvale City Police Dog Academy. Themes of friendship, perseverance, and bullying were well handled, and there was an additional emphasis on teamwork and critical thinking/problem solving. A fun little mystery to solve along with Fizz! My 5yo’s review: “I love Fizz! My favorite part is when he catches the saboteur.”
Fizz is now at the Police Academy. He joins a new friend, Remi, in training to be undercover police dogs. Together, they solve the mystery of who is sabotaging the training to send dogs home. They eliminate the obvious suspect, Amadeus, and figure out who has the most to gain by being chosen as a substitute. Easy to read text to appeal to mid-elementary level readers.
Fizz goes to the dog academy for training as an undercover police dog, but that's not all. The training and trainees are being sabotaged and Fizz and his buddy, Remi, are on the case. The author seamlessly wove animal and human characters together in this world that kids will enjoy. Lots of fun images came to mind. It kept my interest and me guessing who the culprit was.
This beginner chapter book is a mystery and my 4- and 6-year-olds were into it! They were guessing who the saboteur was throughout the story. They positively lit up when the clues clicked together at the end and they discovered who it actually was!
I love this world! Dogs and people working together with the dogs actually able to communicate with the people. Fizz is a lovable character, so smart and brave while still being adorable.
For the first time I have found a book that my son will not let me stop reading! My five year old loves these books!! Thank you Lesley Gibbs and Stephen Michael King!
Super cute book. My 6 year old loved it as a read together book, and we couldn't stop when we reached the last two chapters. We just had to finish it at that point!
This book is super cuter, it is the second book in the series. It addresses bullying but it also addresses friendship. I will definitely read again to tutoring kids!
Great series to read with all 4 of my young children. Chapters are short, illustrations are wonderful (and get the giggles going!), and keep my kids asking for more!
Fizz wants to be a police dog but he looks more like a show dog. Will he make it through training school? A very cute story about how our hero betters a bully and uncovers a saboteur.
