Prepare for and celebrate Christ s coming with brief daily meditations for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Scripture, personal reflection, a question to think about or act to consider, and a short prayer to Mary are sure to touch your heart and lead you to a deeper relationship with Jesus and his mother, Mary.
got this christmas season reflection book at the grotto in portland, oregon, a sanctuary dedicated to mary and known for its replica of pietà. this felt like an appropriate booklet to read after being immersed in artistic representations of mary's sorrow. i liked that scriptures about mary's life are organized by four themes: love, joy, patience, and peace. each day is a meditation on one such theme/quality/virtue and how mary distinctly embodied it. i would read a page at the end or beginning of a day and apply it to troubles i was facing – it was truly a helpful tool for reflection. i'm not sure i'm the target audience (more of an academic/mystical/cultural christian than religious devotee), but the writing felt like it could be palatable to anyone, even secular people who might be interested in "the mary myth."
