This is the second of five reference book published to tie-in with the premiere of Sailor Moon TV show in the US television.
Each book of this series of five, is focused in one of the Sailor Scouts, where here is obvious that it's about the second sailor to be called, Sailor Mercury aka Ami Mizuno.
Ami is the smartest of all the Sailor Scouts, and you can bet that she has the best scores in her school too (for not to mention in all Japan! Wow!). She is the one that you can always trust to be calm before danger, and while she isn't the bravest, she takes on the threats with calm mind and analyzing the situation. And don't confuse her ice and water-based powers, since her heart is quite warm and she is one of the most friendly in the team (just behind of Serena (Sailor Moon).
This reference book is a wonderful collector's item, since not only you're able to read it all since it's on English, but also is full color in prestige paper and with a massive amount of information focused on Sailor Mercury, like her study interests, tech gear, powers, etc...
Obviously, if you're fan of the Sailor Moon anime series, I recommend to get all the five books. (I was able to get four of them at the same time, I had to wait like a year to be able to get the one about Sailor Venus, but happily I completed them finally).
This one contained more actual info than any other, probably because Mercury has more details than the other scouts. As a result, it remained interesting throughout.
the guides are great, but their downfall is text is often written sideways and they have a mix of English and Japanese names throughout the book which is confusing. They also mention characters that did not didn't feature in the dub, but were cut from the dub and even things about Michelle and Amara's relationship which was censored in the dub that they were 'cousins. Instead in this book for the AMERICAN audience they have a comment from Amy about her suspicions about them..which doesn't make sense when they cut that from the dub. I mean, it is a great book but extremely confusing for those who don't get or know about the dub and Japanese differences/cuts. The whole book is a mix up and confusing. The book is even written from Serena's/Sailor Moon's point of view at some point which is also confusing because it is rando and it is meant to be 'Amy's Story'
These books are usally pretty expensive and rare and highly sought after, but I do wonder why when the only good thing about them is their pictures, nothing else. I do like Amy, I think she is a a great character and one of my favourites, but even I did not think this book was the best, but still enjoyable (but painful )to read
