A woman who disdains love collides with a man who lives for passion. Explosions ensue.
Ada Templeton believes in science. She believes in chemical reactions and experimentation and old-fashioned common sense. She's far too clever to be seduced by a rake like Edison Sweet.
Con artist, liar, self-taught inventor, Edison Sweet, uses his hard won skills to help others. When he's not saving unfortunates swindled by Victorian London's criminal classes, he loves women. A great many woman.
Over Ada's objections, Edison agrees to guard her latest invention from a mastermind willing to kill for it. He never expected to be intrigued by the lovely widow who's body he finds as exciting as her mind.
Their chemistry is impossible to ignore.
And impossible to trust.
Stalked by a brilliant killer, will they have time to test whether love can indeed mend two broken hearts?
An Explosive second book in the Restitution League Series! What happens when you put two highly intelligent people together? Ada Templeton had a scientific mind and has come up with an invention of merit. The only problem is others want to steal it! Enter Edison Sweet. Part of the Restitution League, he is a hugh liar, con artist and inventor himself, but he tries to use his skills to help those who have been taken advantage of by others He wants to help Ada by guarding her invention and keeping her alive. What was unexpected but almost instant was the attraction between the two that was almost explosive! A great story of intrigue, suspense and wonderful characters that make this tale a wonderful read! This has to be one of my favorite books so far this year! Well done Riley Cole! Cannot wait for the next one!
I liked the first book in this series. This new one is even better I like the two scientists getting together I didn't think Edison was that noticeable but in this book he was awesome and Ada who is perfect for him this author keeps getting better and better I can't wait for her next one in this series hope it's Briar but I'll settle for any of them this was steamy but not overdone it was a nice touch a Romance and mystery you'll be surprised who the villain was!
I enjoyed Edison and Ada’s story. Two brilliant scientists struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other. I was intrigued by the attitude of other male scientists of the period to a woman who succeeded where they couldn’t. Once again, the Restitution League comes to the rescue. This is a great addition to the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a captivating read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a good mix of scientific discoveries, mystery, adventure and romance. I must admit it had me guessing who the villain was until the end. The main characters are Edison Sweet and Ada Templeton but the rest of Edwin’s family and staff also play a part. It was good to catch up with them all. Edwin and Ada have an instant attraction but can they act upon it, given their backgrounds? I love the fact that all the women are strong, intelligent and sometimes feisty characters. It also touches on the attitude of some men to women of superior intelligence. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series. I received a copy and have voluntarily and honestly reviewed it.

I loved this book! Even though Edison🐺🍆🌋🔫🔪 is definitely a Rake, he saves Ada💃💋 from some thugs breaking into her lab. He is a real gentleman after all! Maybe his personality will grow on her!
This series is so fun. Ms. Cole has a wonderful way with creating characters you can't help but love. Their crazy, sometimes hair-brained antics, endure the reader more to this enchanting story of reformed devils.

A fantastic story that will entertainment you until the last page! A romance full of intrigue, suspense and strong characters. You will love the story between the hero and heroine and kept to see what will happened. I'm looking forward to read new story from the author. I received a free book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
* I was given an ARC copy in exchange of an honest review* 3.5 stars! This is well written, and it's the perfect combination between adventure and romance. The victorian elements are present but do not suffocate the story and all the minor characters are incredibly well developed. Both the heroine and the hero are flawed, imperfect characters that struggle to find their footing as they fall for each other and they ran away from danger. I love that, while slightly fast, they both have traits that complement each other. I look forward to the rest of the series :)
In the second installment of The Restitution League, Riley Cole has done fantastic job of composing the love story between Ada and Edison. I found myself laughing or smiling at the interplay between them. An electrical tale with suspense, intrigue, humor, action, and a strong female lead. HEA, stand alone story with no cheating. With her writing, Riley Cole brings her characters and the ambiance of the time and place to life making them lovable, believable and three dimensional. I look forward to the next book written by Riley Cole.
This is a good adventure story. I liked Edison and Ada, and I liked following the other characters. I enjoyed this story more than the first book because there was less overt violence. It was more about figuring out the next move and such.
If you're familiar with the first book of series about the Restitution League, you know about the cousins who are the core of it. This is Edison's story, and has he ever met his match! The league investigates a case brought to them by a man who is clearly lying about it and find themselves embroiled in a need to protect a female scientist on the brink of sharing her world-changing discovery. Will the League be able to keep her safe? Will her invention fall into the wrong hands? Will others take credit for what she has done?
Just like the first book, I found this story to be delightfully well-written. In the parts narrated by Edison, he comes across as cocky, slightly jaded, and on the prowl for his next adventure or female. His commentary is often quite amusing, like when he said the heroine had “the delicacy of a stevedore,” which made me laugh out loud. Other sections are narrated by Meena and Ada; the latter is the heroine. I love Ada. She's a strong, smart woman who has taken care of herself and her grandmother while pursuing her interest in science. Ada is a smart cookie but vulnerable, too, especially in her dealings with men about whom she might have a romantic interest as well as those who would belittle her mind and discoveries.
This delightful series about the Restitution League is for readers who appreciate strong women, good-hearted rogues, witty internal monologue and external dialogue, and stories where good--even if in the guise of reformed criminals--triumphs over evil. Personally, I can't wait for the next installment!
I received a free copy of this book, but this did not affect my review.
This was my favorite of the three books in this series. Ada and Edison had such good chemistry throughout the whole book. From the very first time they meet when Edison is breaking into her lab to find and safeguard a device invented by an A. Templeton from ruthless greedy person or persons who want the invention for their own. Edison, a known rake, is surprised to actually find himself attracted to the woman that confronts him and who he believes is the wife of the inventor, A. Templeton. Then he figures out that the woman he is so attracted to is actually the inventor he needs to protect as well as a widow who has a mind as sharply intelligent as his own.
Bring in the Restitution League, his family of former thieves and con artists who now devote their considerable talents to helping (at no charge) those who need their assistance. Of course Ada refuses to believe she needs help of any kind and only accepts after a potentially violent encounter with hired thugs trying to break into her lab. Edison saves her and she finally admits she cannot keep her invention and family safe by herself. She insists she only needs help until she can deliver her invention to the court in a few days time. But a lot can happen in a few days!!
Lots of suspense and intrigue taking place in Victorian England. I definitely recommend this whole series and will be watching for future books by Ms. Cole!!

Edison Sweet is a dissembler, belongs to the restitution league and a scientist. He has a lot of skills that he uses to those who need it. In the League there, is Meena, Nelly, Crane, Spencer, Mr. Hapgood, Mrs. Hapgood, Briar and later in the story Henry joins them. Ada Templeton was married to Harrison, but he died. She is a chemical scientist and loves what she does. I really enjoyed the banter between the characters, It could be very humorous. There is also intrigue, betrayal, and danger. So much is going on in this story. Love, investigating, murder, fear and kidnapping, you never get much of a chance to catch your breath. This is a book that is hard to put down. I received this ARC free and voluntarily reviewed it.
The second book in the "Restitution League" series is as delicious as the first one! Excellent writing, wonderful characters, old and new, suspense, intrigue, mystery, adventure, funny moments and a scorching hot romance between two scientific minds of the Victorian Era, will keep you reading late into the night (or should I say early in the morning?). What I really loved, though, is the continuing appearance of characters from the previous book and the glimpses we get in their life after the happy ending of the previous book. Well done, Ms. Cole. Off to read the next installment!

This is book two in the author’s Restitution Series. Wow- this is another hit for this author! The gang is back, but this time the story centres on Edison Sweet and Ada Templeton, a woman he is drawn to help. Once again we are treated to a fast paced, action packed adventure, full of suspense, steamy hot romance and of course, danger - with some humour thrown in for good measure. The writing is again witty and sharp and the author’s attention to detail is superb. Another masterful historical romance with a side of adventure!

Four and a half stars. This is an interesting story about a brilliant woman in a time when women didn’t “understand” science. I liked Ada but I fell in love with Edison right from the start. Poor Ada just wants to share her invention, but someone is trying to kill her. The story kept me trying to figure out who the bad guy would turn out to be. This is my first from this author and I am looking forward to more from her. Good job! I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This is a well written book. If you can visualize the action and the actors, in my opinion, that means the author has done her/his job. I like the descriptions of Ada and Edison; both of them are intrigued by the other almost at first glance. The invention is the "electrical" connection between them.
I enjoyed this story of mystery and intriguing caricatures. This was the first time reading a book by this author, but I am happy that I chose This second book in the series.
Ada Templeton believes in science, things that can be proven, the reliability of chemical reactions and experimentation and sometimes plain common sense. She’s too intelligent and down-to-Earth to let herself be seduced by a rake like Edison Sweet. Edison is part of the Restitution League fighting injustice, composed of former thieves, liars, and con artists devoting their skills to helping and protecting those who need them. When they recognize that a client who came to them is a fraud, it becomes necessary for them to protect the real scientist who has produced an invention attracting undesirable attention. It becomes especially critical when Edison realizes the scientist is actually a brilliant woman whose intellect matches his own! Can the League keep her safe from harm as the criminal element tries to steal her work from her? Will the underworld succeed in stealing her invention?
This is another very clever story that draws the reader in for an exciting adventure. The whole idea of the Restitution League is a wonderful approach to making things right for others by those who know best how to successfully navigate that world! Grab your copy and enjoy Edison and Ada’s story!
Another lengthy novel - and my use of the word lengthy should be taken as the highest praise. It’s impressive that such a book - and a sequel no less - should be so wonderfully appealing, well put together, and heart racing, I dare say it was even better than the first.
Unlike so many series where you hear about the love interest from the precious books, but just in passing, I was pleasantly surprised to be given their perspectives at times.
I additionally loved the science focus. Very intriguing.

Another fantastic read in The Restitution League series which is a very intriguing and fantastic concept. I am reading this series backwards but it does not make a difference in the reading order. I love the science aspect of this story – both inventors and drawn to each other like moths to a flame. Edison (love the name) and Ada’s working together, side by side and their conversations, whew is it hot in here or just in their laboratory? Now onto book one and I see book four is coming out soon.
Riley Cole has obviously done a lot of research on the history of this era as well as the science of the time. Interwoven with the attraction between the characters and the difficulty of maintaining a good relationship these things are made into another great book by Riley. I especially like the fact that although this book is centered on the two main characters there is still a lot about the other people in the league. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Edison works with his family to help people who need it. When someone who tries to elicit their help to retrieve his invention, they realize he’s not telling the whole truth. Edison searches for the true inventor and meets Ada, the scientist reluctant to accept his help. Seducing The Scientist is an engaging, well written novel I recommend.

The second book in the Restitution League Series a well written story that held my interest throughout. This is Ada Templeton a scientist and Edison Sweet's story with suspense, drama, and romance. A book I enjoyed reading I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rating of 4.5 stars. Another grand adventure for the Restitution League! So glad Edison found his perfect match. I also liked the interweaving of Meena and Spencer dealing with their own issues. I'm looking forward to reading Caleb's story next! Hopefully, Briar will get her story soon, too.

This is a new author for me and with book sprout I gained a new favorite. These books are so well written and the harebrained antics liven up the book even more.
