With Earth destined for a new ice-age, seven scientists and twenty-two brilliant teenagers are gathered in a compound deep within a mountain. There they struggle to come together as a group and complete the projects needed for their survival in the inhospitable environment of Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. However, certain factions on Earth have no intention of letting Project Einstein succeed. Keeping the group alive and productive is the hardest task Colonel Lancaster and his soldiers have ever had, but they are determined to succeed no matter how well the saboteurs have planned. The continuation of the human race depends upon it.
Liza lives in Denville, NJ with her dog Jess. They hike in fabulous woods every day, rain or shine, sleet or snow. Having an adventurous nature, she learned to fly small cessnas in NJ, hang glide in New Zealand, kayak in Pennsylvania, ski in New York, scuba dive with great white sharks in Australia, dig up dinosaur bones in Montana, sky dive in Indiana, and raft a class four river in Tasmania. She’s an avid gardener, amateur photographer and dabbler in watercolors. Yet through her entire life, her first love has and always will be writing novels. She loves to create interesting characters, set them loose, and scribe what happens.
Great premise and world building. I recommend this book for hardcore science fiction fans. The race to save humanity leads to unlikely alliances and love
I’m not a huge fan of sci-fi books, though there is basically no genre that I won’t read. The premise of this book caught my interest, and I had previously enjoyed science-fiction by the same author (The Gods of Probabilities).
“Destination: Titan” had me intrigued from page 1 and kept me hooked right throughout all the trials, tribulations and turmoil the crew had to face. The main character, Tamara, quickly grew on me. She reminded me of the heroine from O’Connor’s “Scavenger” series, as did some of the team dynamics and premises/themes (leadership, challenges, pioneer spirit, extraordinary people getting a chance to shine even though they start as outsiders). I kept rooting for her success and also came to like Lancaster (not Hunt, though). I can’t wait to see where the adventure will take this crew next and what will await them on planet Titan!
When the end if coming for Mankind, scientists have found a way to survive but only specially selected people will be asked to help on the secret project. Destination: Titan is a wonderfully told story of a last ditch effort to save the world, even as another group sets out to ruin any chance they had.
I really enjoyed the characters who came alive with Ms. O'Connor's writing. They were compelling and people I longed to meet in real life. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I wasn't able to put it down. With twists and turns, I couldn't anticipate, this story had my heart beating fast!
Fascinating! What a story! Earth is dying, soon mankind will end--unless Project Einstein succeeds. Put together the best-in-their-field scientists and a group of brilliant students, guarded by the best military, and you should have amazing results. Add in sabotage and you get twists and turns and can't figure out who to trust.
Tamara and Lancaster work hard to keep everyone on an even keel, but they are flummoxed as the sabotage ramps up. So too does their romance. I knew before I started reading that this was the beginning of a series. The first book has a satisfying ending but made me anxious to read the next book. Can't wait.
