A tropical getaway is normally the perfect remedy to escape the stresses of day to day life, but that isn't the case for Senator Harry Blaine. After arriving at his island estate, the senator, his family, and his staff are taken hostage by a group of heavily armed men. It is up to Mercer and his team to rescue the family and unravel an even larger scandal. The former SAS aren't the only SpecOps players on the field. This time, they face-off against a group of highly-trained rogue military contractors. The team responsible for the hostage situation and subsequent abduction are former members of Darkfire, the private military organization that recently was denied a government contract due to the senator's vote. As Mercer and Bastian spend hours tirelessly negotiating and working to uncover the location and identity of these mercenaries, additional issues arise. The island's police force may be corrupt, and the appearance of an American spy raises additional questions concerning the actual motive behind the kidnapping. Controlling the senator is the same as controlling the vote, and government contracts tend to be incredibly lucrative, especially when they deal with commodities and resources often traded and cannibalized in the Middle East. While everyone else's priority is the fortune that can be acquired through control and illicit dealings, Mercer and his team want nothing more than to rescue the senator's family. Death, destruction, and mayhem ensue in a bloody battle of wits. This is the most deadly game of chicken Mercer has ever played, and the stakes are higher than ever.

This is one fabulous series. I cannot wait for the next book comes out. The suspense in this book went all the way till the end of the book. This is a can't put down book. I highly recommend this series.
A politician's family is kidnapped & Mercer's team are hired to rescue them. Then the plot twists, turns, gets thicker until no one knows who to trust. Friction within the team leads to quite an explosive mix. But again the wrongdoers lose out in the end.
