Do you wonder what waits beyond? The souls journey goes on and on. The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on. Ten people who pass away, see the light of another day. Some were cruel and some were kind. Some saw the truth and some were blind. The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on. That hour comes when we close our eyes. Journey of Souls meanders us through people’s lives prior to and following their deaths.

The first few stories are intriguing and the rest seemed to be less interesting for me as the books went onward.

I will avoid judging the thesis but it does a theme of ones soul going onwards as determined by the choices you made while alive.

Still, it was a pleasant book in most areas. It is unfortunate that it contains grammatical errors.

These are my feelings and I do not purposefully challenge the author personally.

Much of A Journey of Souls by Michael McKinney had a dreamlike quality that was very soothing and full of wonder. In this book, the author paints a picture of what the afterlife may look like... a journey through different dreamscapes and alternate realities constructed by the karmic needs of the soul. Much of this was parallel to my own personal spiritual beliefs and I feel that many would find some comfort in the possibilities presented within these pages; however, there were a few things to which I just really couldn't turn a blind eye. For one, the flow was justofffffff, which I know is super vague wishy washy sounding, but as someone who reads a lot of books, I have a very sensitive radar when it comes to how naturally (or unnaturally) written something is. The other huge thing I had a hard time swallowing was the way the war veteran was treated. It just felt completely out of place and out of tune with the rest of the story and clearly was an"in your face" representation of the author's biases and political leanings, which I felt was inappropriate in something of such a spiritual nature.

A Journey of Souls by Michael McKinney is a thought-provoking tale of the afterlife.

Now that the required features are out of the way, I must say that if the CW doesn’t trigger you, you should grab a copy of this book.

The author takes you on a unique journey through death and the afterlife. We follow the stories of ten people who learn what their afterlife will consist of. I value the opinion that good will be rewarded and evil will reap the seeds they have sown.

The mysterious Brianna is our guide through the story. She brings benevolence, understanding, wrath, and continuity to each death.

I found the pacing just perfect for me. The stories captivated, horrified, and thrilled me. Take your pick; I had all the feels while reading this one. Each chapter took me to the brink, making me turn the pages faster and faster.

The story reminded me of watching Twilight Zone episodes; thought-provoking, mysterious, horrific, and satisfying.

I recommend you read this with a friend. You'll want to talk about it for days.

This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

I borrowed this book with the hope of reading some imaginative afterlife stories; however, I found it to be a vehicle for the propaganda of liberal views.

I accept that there will be some slant of any writer’s ideals in any book of fiction, but at the 82% line of this book when the main *good character berated a veteran marine and held him responsible for fighting in the first Iraq war and for the US attacking Iraq in 2005, that was just too much for me. By the way, I didn’t like that war either, but I wouldn’t blame the forces that were sent there.

As to the other earlier instances of liberalism, I might have accepted, but this was just too much for me. In my opinion, such extreme personal views should be expressed in non-fiction, blogs, and memoirs.

Still, this is what I thought of the book. What I have just said is only my feelings and it is not meant to rebuke the author or his craft.

Poor writing combined with extreme views

This book is a mess. If one can overlook the poor editing, inexplicable language choice (everyone, regardless of where they're from, uses 'o in place of "a") and can follow the improper tense changes, you are then left with the extreme left-wing, anti-American, anti-military opinions. Essentially, being a hooker is something one is forced into, but taking up arms in the military is a choice punishable by being condemned to eternal hellfires. If you've ever been in the military, been related to anyone whose served, or enjoy the freedoms provided by those who have, skip this garbage. It's offensive. However, since our military men and women have spilled blood so this clown could spout this ridiculousness, I will be forced to give it at least 1 star. I apologize.

I’d like to the afterlife is something like described in the book - a karmic creation of our life on earth. Even if it’s not, it’s a good way to make people think about what kind of person they want to be. I kept noticing that almost every person who dies and suffers in the afterlife in this book were men. Women were generally depicted as “good wives” which didn’t resonate as strongly with me.

I really liked this book until I saw the author trolling people who didn’t like it on Goodreads. Defeats the purpose of the book, IMO.

I like books around this concept and the racist's karmic companion passing over help (because of the colour of the helpers' car or food etc) had me laughing out loud at some points, but i felt there was a lot of daily conversations spun out too long. I enjoyed it overall though! I like the cover.

Not my cup of tea

While it started out interesting, it soon got preachy and went downhill from there for me. You may like it but I did not. Will not seek this author out again.

Wow, so unique! Some of the language I didn’t care for, but it was necessary, I guess. This could have excellent if they kept their own opinions to themself. Was all very liberal preaching.

Was hoping this would be more of a spiritual piece but it was more like fiction based on spiritual concepts. Not a bad read. I liked the concepts it attempted to demonstrate, gets you thinking…

Author Michael Mckinney tells the intriguing story of ten people who find they have left Earth after dying only to arrive in a familiar setting. However, this place differs in that it allows them to travel to the past and future without problems. Along the way, they meet Brianna, a woman who helps to welcome them to this new world and guide them as they journey through the past and present. You’ll read of each of their lives as they journey through these different dimensions.
If you’re looking for a unique and intriguing book to read, this is one you’ll want to check out. Mckinney writes with an engaging writing style and the plot flows well. The story also contains many different characters who all have a diverse life story which helps to make this book even more interesting. At 248 pages, it might be a little long for some, but it’s certainly worth checking out.

A Journey of Souls by Michael McKinney we find Calvin has died and is now on his passage to the next world. While there Brianna greets him and informs him, he will continue doing what he always loved, inspiring others on their journey. As Brianna greets others, we find their destination isn’t as fulfilling as Calvin’s because of the lives they lived. The destiny they chose while living continued to extreme proportions in the next world. It disappoints some people in what they received, while others feel blessed.

Michael McKinney gives us a unique glimpse of “sowing and reaping” in his novel, A Journey of Souls. This metaphysical fantasy will make the reader think about how their actions will affect their future plus, what kind of life our family will live when we are gone. This is a thought-provoking novel that could teach many lessons to adults.

Is it true? See my review on Amazon.
This is a very nice book to read which tells you what happens after you die. Basically you live your dream, but in an open way. For example, there is a racist guy who dies and finds himself too white so he covers himself with paint so he appears black and then he finds himself lynched in an early period of the USA South. But most people will find themselves reunited with dead loved ones in a setting which is very pleasant. My only thought while reading this book was wondering if this is true and if so, how does the author know it is true. i personally have different ideas about the afterlife.

This was an interesting book, as we are taken on many journeys with different souls. I am the first one to say, a book is it's authors baby, and they create the entire universe that it evolves around. However, I found some things in this book that made me give it only four stars. I did enjoy reading this book, but some of the concepts did not ring true to me. My beliefs played a large part in this matter, as I am a Bible believing Christian, so the tale of moving on to another existence was foreign to me, and therefore, hard for me to wrap my head around. As stated it's the author's baby, and even if I don't agree with the premise, it was still an enjoyable read.

Heartcheck

How you live your life determines your eternal destination. Will you live by the sword and die by it or will you allow love to invade your heart, spirit and soul? The choices of life however insignificant have a major impact. This author gives a vivid, but subtle description of life beyond death. Are you prepared to deal with the choices you have made? Michael McKinney, well done. I rate this book five stars. I would highly recommend that it be added to your literary collection. I look forward to reading other books written by this author.

Quick read, engaging stories

This book takes us through several people’s lives just before and following their death. I liked the variety of individuals the stories present. I think this book would be good for anyone who has an inkling about what happens after we die. Some of the sections were harder to stay interested in (in the beginning), but the author picks up the pace and the intensity as the book continues.

I really loved this book. I would have given it 5 stars, except I got bogged down in the first chapter (my own aversion to space.....) but I would definitely pick this one up! It was a wonderful story within story book, all seamlessly tied together. There was a great mix of hopefulness and angst.

If I had known that this "journey" was going to be a diatribe, shaming anyone who did not share his liberal political beliefs, I wouldn't have wasted my time. Fortunately, I didn't waste a dime since it was free. This is a sad excuse for an open-minded journey of souls. His overt liberalism is a far cry from an unbiased account of human nature. You have been warned!

Interesting

Interesting take on what happens to us when we pass on to the next existence of our lives. Not sure I would look at it the same way but I do believe that our soul travels somewhere. I did like the concept so I will keep these stories in mind.
