2.5 stars- this is a tough one. A solid maybe in terms of recommending. I think the book had some great prompts to get you thinking about how to pray for your husband and some of the pursuits were fun, but a lot of the pursuits did not take into account the individuality of people. I get no book can consider every different type of person but I felt like this was a lot of building your husband up through words of affirmation, but not everyone responds to that. Additionally, there was a lot of broad strokes taken with “how husbands are” and phrases like “your husband will appreciate this” everyone is so different and I think dropping phrases like that would have made the book applicable to a wider audience. I’m glad I did it, but keep in mind it will definitely take more than 31 days to finish the pursuits I would recommend one per weekend.
This was a good devotional for couples (husbands have the Husband In Pursuit companion) looking to add some spark to their marriage. It definitely helped me to view some of the ups and down struggles of marriage with a more Christ centered approach. I enjoyed the layout of having scripture and devotion followed by reflection questions, prayer, and then a pursuit or challenge to do each day. I felt some of the challenges were repetitive but overall good practice to work into each month. My husband and I read the books with another couple and it was so helpful to be able to bounce ideas off each other and find that we related on so many topics.
This bible study was very helpful for my husband and I. It forced us to look at some things and appreciate each other more. The date ideas are great. Unfortunately because of our crazy life, we didn't complete all of the challenges. I would recommend this book to other couples despite that.
Great ideas for couples who may be earlier in marriage or with young children. Personally, my husband and I have implemented a lot of these challenges into our marriage. But I do feel it’s a great resource for others who may be experiencing a lack of “spark” or needing encouragement.
This book had some good ideas and topics, some things I could certainly relate to. I didn’t realize it was religious based and that gave it a spin I wasn’t expecting. The activities were ok and I could def. see it being great to use in conjunction with your spouse, especially if you both have strong faith in God.
This review is going to be pretty easy... this is a great book.
I did all 31 challenges and it was actually a lot of fun! I found myself thinking about my husband more often throughout the day. I enjoyed working on each challenge and putting it together even with three small children at home.
The most surprising thing that I can say about this book is that it was the most helpful for me when my husband and I were in a disagreement! These challenges helped me to refocus and think kindly towards him even if we were not really getting along at the moment.
Overall, I give Wife in Pursuit: 31 Daily Challenges for Loving Your Husband Well a robust 5 stars. No matter where you are at in your marriage having a tool to help you love and pursue your spouse is never a bad idea!
Wife in Pursuit is a life changing experience. It gives you the tools to look closely at your relationship with God and your husband. Even though I'm done with the book, I still have a few challenges to finish. Once I'm done with those I can see myself reading it again. Very good reminders to keep blossoming our marriage.
it's really nice to have a Bible-focused, time-restricted challenge for a marriage. no matter where your relationship is: struggling to flourishing, spending 30 days focused on working on it will have a positive effect. it definitely was a challenge with our super busy life right now to complete, but it's sparked some future challenges.
