The people of Hope's Crossing Kennels are preparing for the holidays when a neighboring breeder confronts them. His best German Shepherd Dog is about to have puppies and he is sure one of the Hope's Crossing Kennels dogs is the sire. Atlas, Souze, or Haydn...who's the puppy-daddy of this holiday litter?

I love it when authors give their readers free short stories and I'm happy to sign up for newsletters to get them but there's nothing quite so frustrating as finding out these stories were available but only for a limited time and oh crap you're 8 days late so you'll never get to read it.
This was a short but sweet introduction for two characters in the True Heroes world. I hope this is just a taste of what is to come in the next full novel. I enjoyed meeting Leo and Junior and the situation that brought them together. For fans of the series, it was a very sweet treat. I look forward to more in the series.
This one was cute, could have gone very bad, but the guys of Hope's Crossing are good guys and did a favor when a man showed up, bringing news and trouble. Of course the guys helped out and of course there is the potential for more.
This is a really quick read. Done in less than 10 minutes. At first I tried to find this book on Amazon, but with not much luck. Then I decided to look into the author's website. You can download it there until the end of January 2018, as long as you sign up for the newsletter that is. Which I don't mind. I just wish the story had been longer. Or that the next book had been about Junior so I could continue reading her story. Nope, next book is not about Junior. Sigh.
The story is too short to build up to much, though we do get to find out which of the dogs was a...erm...dog... :D I just wanted to read more about the humans. With how short this story is, and with how little the author delves into any kind of plot, this one doesn't get more than 3 stars, even with that I feel I'm being generous. Since book 4 is out of the question as Junior's story, I do hope she gets book 5.
Tis the season for Christmas short stories. Being book 3.5 there are mentions of the already paired up other couples. [I admit to coming in late to the series] But there’s enough here with a multiracial ex-air force heroine working at a kennel. She’s at the gate when a local breeder shows up. Leo is stressed and angry. He’s just discovered his one and only prime breeding female is already knocked up so all his plans are on hold for another year. A year he just doesn’t feel that he has. And these dogs were in the area recently. It’s a bit insta-lovey but it kind of has to be when it’s this short. The story is available through the author’s website. 3 stars
Winter Valor by Piper J. Drake is a very quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Drake has given us a book that is well-written and loaded with amazing characters. Even though this is a very short read, there is still a bit of action, drama and humor. Not the normal spice and sizzle you usually find in a romance, but there is an attraction. I enjoyed this quick read, I only wish it were longer.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Instafreebie.
A great short that needs more! A slice of life type of short story, that gives insight into the characters. Good job of doing some character development.
With the strength and connection, not doing more on this story is a missed opportunity!
