One touch, and he was lost.

He's the richest man in Boston. With a single look, he can have any woman he wants.

Except her. Elizabeth won't give him the time of day—except to tell him she's so far out of his social circle, she might as well be from another planet.

In Elizabeth's eyes, Alexander sees not only a lifetime of pain but an untrained submissive unlike any he's ever met—one with fire and strength and fierce intelligence. He aches to show her the joys of submission.

Happiness doesn't come easily, though. Especially not when a billion dollar tax fraud case threatens Alexander's company—and Elizabeth's life.

The scars from Elizabeth's past run deep, and if she can't give Alexander her trust, she could lose so much more than a chance at love.

Danger lurks in the unlikeliest of places, and more than one life is at stake.

He'll risk everything for the woman he loves, but Elizabeth is fiercely independent. Will she accept his protection—and his domination? Or will he lose her forever?

After having this one for ages in my library,i decided it was time to read it.
It promised to be a BDSM story, but what i got was a romantic suspense with hints of BDSM.
Not bad,a good storyline, with a few mistakes here and there.
For example,a cat enjoys it when you look straight at them,it’s a dog that looks away to acknowledge you’re the boss.
By my knowledge, the British army isn’t royal, but i’m not totally sure on that one.
I díd enjoy the build-up,how Elizabeth and Alexander met,and their backgrounds.
I have to admit he had a lot of patience with her outside the bedroom.
Her insecurities stemming from her parents and her ex may have been justified, but he proved time and time again that he was different.
In the bedroom, however,i was a little disappointed at how quickly he expected her to obey his orders, especially about her delaying her orgasms when she clearly struggled…..
But maybe he simply wanted to get her first punishment over with?
The suspense part, her old employer trying to set her up for fraud, was done well.
But the “professional” assassin didn’t feel that professional to me….
The way he tried to stage her suïcide and plant so-called evidence of her involvement was in my view amateuristically done.

All in all,a decent read, but nothing fancy.

description

In His Silks was an alright read for me. It was kind of slow and draggy in certain areas but over all the plot and story line were solid and well put together. I liked the cohesiveness and give and take between Elizabeth and Alexander and their head on approach to sort out their problems and seek justice where it is due.

You see, while Elizabeth comes from money, she deterred away from that path (*well to be exact, she called her family on their [sh*#] greed. You go girl!*) and her family business to make a life on her own away from the selfish audacity of wealth and power.

That is, until, a tax fraud and embezzlement framing leads her to be the prime suspect/leaker of companies being cheated of millions by her former employer. Now with this conspiracy on the loose, how will she prove her innocence?

Enter: Alexander Fairhaven. Rich, powerful, extremely handsome, and a Dom!

Literally bumping into each other by chance, Alexander feels his world being turned upside down. Knowing that Elizabeth is unlike any woman he’s ever known, can he make her bend to the brink of submission while saving her from the upending storm that’s about to ensue? And what of his family’s billion dollar worth enterprise? With it being one of the companies being swindled by Elizabeth’s former bosses can he recover what is lost while still upholding the Fairhaven name?

You’ll just have to wait and see and witness Elizabeth being wrapped and enraptured by this sexy dom beneath “In his silks”!

*I received an ARC via LBTS sheets in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!*

I have to say apparently I had my head up part of my anatomy and never reviewed this book on Goodreads when I first read it, which was sometime last year. At the time I was reading this book, I was also reading another by the same author. Until that time, I'd never heard the name Patricia Eddy before, but I can tell you that I won't forget it anytime soon. Her writing style appeals to me as it is easy to read, but not written for a teenager like so many of the steamy romance novels are. Her characters are adults and the dialogue is pointed, meaning the characters do not beat around the bush when speaking, just like real life. The narrative is interesting too. Since Alexander and Nicholas are British, lot of British slang is tossed around and I LOVE IT. I used to joke, thanks to an ex, that I was British by Injection, so all of those blasted comments did not phase me. Bugger is one of my particular favorites. But to get right down to it, this book was really, really entertaining and well written. I am looking forward to reading the remainder of the series by Eddy and she's found a fan!

Besides all that, if you've read my other reviews, you know I have no time at all for people who think BDSM means someone going to a club and being whipped or alternatively, being tied to the bedpost. I was pleased to see that, in this story, Alexander acted like a true Dominant Alpha mail and not just someone pretending he was something he was not. He is NOT a Master in this book, so you aren't going to see any hardcore scenes, and also because of that, his play is reserved for the bedroom and he does not carry it out into the world deliberately. But an alpha like him is a control freak, as Elizabeth tells him repeatedly, justifiably. Protective, strong, loving - those are the characters of a Dom. And Elizabeth is a dream - strong, opinionated, wth a backbone - the perfect sub for him. AND, the story has a cat in it, which means I am totally enamored now.

I read an ARC of this book through Hidden Gems, but would have purchased it regardless. This is exactly the type of book and writer that I enjoy. Thank you Patricia D. Eddy for a wonderful story. I can't wait to see what else you've come up with.

When a billionaire playboy with a representation of not being seen with same woman twice rescue a beautiful women in the rain what do you expect? That she would be the next knotch on his bed post. However what Alexander didn’t expect that Elizabeth would be a smart, intelligent, graduating from Harvard and a pleasant conversation. The Dom in Alexander always got what he wanted but Alexander was the one person he couldn't forget and the one that was always turning him away. Alexander was determined to get the woman off his dreams. Could the be the one that tamed the Billionaire Dom Playboy?

Elizabeth was an accountant that had a photogenic memory, she was outstanding at her job, had more accounts than any other accountant at the firm. That is until she got fired from the accounting firm for making major mistakes on a clients tax returns, however Elizabeth knew differently she never made mistakes and knew the company was committing fraud. Now unemployed she runs into heartthrob Billionaire Alexander the riches man in Boston. Is it fate or a burden with all that Elizabeth has uncovered with her ex employer. All they need was a fall guy, which Elizabeth didn't have the resources to fight them off. Does she go into protective custody or fall on the sword and admit guilt? This was a great read, had mystery, BDSM & romance…

This first book in a new BDSM romance series treats us to the story of Alexander and Elizabeth. Alexander is a wealthy British businessman now living in Boston, a handsome dominant man who meets Elizabeth on the day she is let go from her accounting job for errors that she knows are not her fault. She suspects fraud, but doesn't have the resources to fight her dismissal. Meeting Alexander changes things for her as her former employer suspects she's telling him their secrets and her life is now in danger. It also changes her in other ways as Alexander's dominant sexual nature appeals to her in ways she never imagined. Can she put aside her inhibitions and let Alex lead her into a new world, and can he protect her from harm?

This was a great romantic suspense story! Alexander's character was very appealing - handsome, strong, caring and focused on giving his woman pleasure - in this case Elizabeth. Elizabeth was also an entertaining and well developed character, willing to stand up for herself and exert her independence while at the same time being willing to learn about Alex's tastes in the bedroom, though she does question whether her submission in one aspect of her life will lead him to take control in others. The sexual tension between them is evident from the start of the story and the love scenes between them are steamy and emotionally intense. Though some of them strayed a bit past my personal comfort zone, it in no way deterred my enjoyment of the story.

The suspense plot is well paced throughout the story. In addition, the secondary characters add an interesting dynamic and introduce us to some of the men who will be the focus of latter books in the series. Patricia Eddy has written a wonderful erotic story, perfect for readers who like a little kink in their romance. 4 steamy stars!

Elizabeth Bennett (no, not THAT Elizabeth Bennett),
is fired by her accounting firm for a mistake on a client’s tax forms. As she’s leaving the office, the pouring rain causes her box of belongings to soften and break, spilling the contents all over the sidewalk. Thank goodness billionaire heartthrob, Alexander Fairhaven, is there to rescue her and sweep her away in his limo. Too bad she’s not having it and plays hard to get x1000.

Alexander is borderline obsessed with Elizabeth and I’m not quite sure why, because she’s a testy b*tch much of the time. Anytime he says something she doesn’t want to hear, not even offensive, she’ll snap at him and then hang-up or suddenly leave. Alexander is a saint to put up with her, but before long starts to venture into doormat territory. He wants to do something nice, but she’ll see it as him trying to control her and reacts irrationally and he ends up apologizing. If only his cajones were as large as his bank account, he would’ve been a more desirable hero.

The love scenes are tame for a BDSM novel. For instance, Elizabeth refers to having had four serious relationships in her past and admits to a few hookups in college, yet she’s only once given a bj? There’s no explanation like she finds it disgusting, either. She’s just only done it once. That’s… that’s really hard to believe for me.

There’s some corporate suspense, but the book still manages to be slow and predictable. Alexander’s dialogue was incredibly stilted which managed to drag it out even further. I was consciously aware every time he spoke that he wouldn’t use contractions. There’s no rule that if you’re British and loaded with cash that you can’t use contractions.

The book’s not bad, there’s just many better options out there.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I decided to read through my massive TBR and stumbled upon In His Silks, and I opened it. Big mistake. It kept me awake until mid-morning for the past 3 days.

In His Silks has several factors that makes it highly readable: intriguing BDSM, a real-life Prince Charming, a thrilling cat and mouse chase, and very snappy writing.

The BDSM parts were tastefully written, although there were some dialogues that made Alexander sound like a psycho to me. Too much use of wanting her to be "in his silks" made me roll my eyes. But aside from that, the scenes were sexy and not vulgar. Well, this depends on what's vulgar to the reader, of course. I'm fascinated with the different aspects of a Dom/sub relationship.

Alexander. Who wouldn't want to meet a handsome billionaire who wants to control your pleasure and take care of you? He was delicious and a woman always enjoys reading about a powerful man like him brought down to his knees by love. Don't we? :)

Elizabeth was kicked out of her job, and got involved with an embezzlement case. The stakes were high, with millions of dollars involved, and people wanted her out of the picture so she couldn't testify. With her new relationship with Alexander and her discovery that she could probably be a submissive, this girl had a lot of things going on in her life. But I liked the character, and I wanted to know how she'd get her happily ever after, in his silks. :) And that's what kept me turning the pages.

Recommended read.

Honestly, I was expecting more...ya know...silks. This was o.k. for me. It wrapped up a bit abruptly and I think I was just expecting more. The romance was kinda cheesy. Although, I did like the danger aspect to the story.
On the very good side, SHANE EAST was the male narrator and he read about...ya know...silks. Oh swoon my heart. Could someone please find out his identity for me so I can put his picture on my bedside table? I mean that in a non-stalker way.

**I voluntarily read a review copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

3.5 stars

I struggled to get into the story in the beginning but I’m glad I persevered because it ended up being really good.

Elizabeth was fiery, independent yet cautious about opening her heart again. Alex was a caring yet attentive lover who went above and beyond for Elizabeth despite her snarky remarks or when she continuously kept pushing him away. These two had good chemistry and complemented each other well.

The story did drag in some places and the beginning was quite repetitive however, once things got going, everything came together nicely.

A great romance book with just the right amount of suspense to keep things interesting.

Whilst I found this an enjoyable read the book had a split personality. It started of as an erotic romance and revolved around Alexander introducing Elizabeth to BDSM and his Dom side. Then it became a romantic suspense. Both elements were written well but rather than them being woven together they felt very separate, with the ending also feeling very rushed.

Two things, in the UK it is just the 'Army', only the airforce and navy are 'Royal' and Elizabeth Bennett (really?). OK the other one only has 1 't' but this did prove distracting at times.

The vast majority of the time I did feel Alexander's accent/speech pattern was a good representation of the upper middle classes, so well done to the author there.

I liked Elizabeth with her determined character and fierce independence but wasn't quite sure where her constant 'why would he want me' blathering came from. OK she was estranged from them but she had been raised in a wealthy family and was well educated and successful in life. I would have liked some more emotion and thoughts from her during the BDSM scenes. The very best of this genre put me in the heroines head and help me understand her decisions in the power exchange.

Personally I didn't like that when Elizabeth had failed to hold off an orgasm twice Alexander punished her for this. She had clearly told him she was struggling - a good Dom would have helped her here - instead she got the response 'you'll learn how to hold it off'. At that point I wanted to hit Alexander around the head and ask him how? She was a novice and requires 'training' or 'teaching', it won't happen by sheer chance.

Alexander wasn't a good Dom in my opinion and whilst I absolutely adore a good BDSM book (and only read this because of that element in it) I actually much preferred the romantic suspense side of things. Overall this was well written, easy to read and had plenty of action, plot developments and pace keeping me quite gripped by the story. Whilst, for me, this wasn't a particularly 'stand's out from the crowd' book, it is certainly enjoyable and I would read more work by the author.

A gifted copy was provided by the author for an honest review.

This was a cute/suspenseful book. I really enjoyed it. The beginning just hits you with information, so it grabbed me and brought me in extremely fast!

Elizabeth Bennet is soaking in the rain after getting fired from her position as an accountant because she found over charges when her photographic knew her clients shouldn't be charged more than they were. Cue her boxes falling apart in the rain and her slipping on the wet pavement, and we've got the most klutzy girl around, who just so happened to fall straight into Prince Charming's hands, or Alexander Fairhaven. You know him as the playboy of Boston. Cue the drama. And cue the love.

Overall, this book was great! It had everything I was looking for. I'll definitely be intrigued to find other works by this author. This deserves 4 STARS out of 5 STARS for a beautiful connection between these characters.

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

I just finish reading this book and I love it, I love the characters, and love how the book turn out to be, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

The story begging with Elizabeth, while she got out of the building that she don't work anymore, its raining hard when she slip and fall, while trying to get her things, some one end up kicking her pursed, that's when she end up looking at some very expensive shoes, and a glove hand trying to help her up, when she see the face she know who it is, Alexander his family is one of the richest family their is in Boston, when he see how Elizabeth is he take it up on himself, to take her home, what they both where not expected was, that was the night that was gone change their life.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, I love the way how Elizabeth and Alexander are with each other, and I have to say the sex scene are hot, Author Patricia D. Eddy THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome characters and this amazing book love it.

Well written and edited stand-alone story with no cliffhanger, although the seeds are sown for the next book in the series. 3.5 stars rounded up.

This would have been a 4 star story for me, but the main female character was just a little too unlikeable for me. She is supposed to be a professional tax preparer for a large CPA firm. She prepares the most returns in the firm, and has the most complex clients, yet she lives in a dumpy apartment and shops at Goodwill. Having knowledge about her career, that struck me as unrealistic. The character has a bit of a martyr complex when it comes to money, which gets a little irritating when she knows she's dating a billionaire. That said, she is smart and independent, with good friends and loyal neighbors.

The story is a nice combination of light BDSM and suspense. We really know who's committed the crimes, but we don't know if she's safe or where the danger is coming from. The story intertwines her billionaire Dom protecting her and introducing her to BDSM.

Recommended to fans of protective Doms, Boston, and romantic suspense.

I loved this book....up until the end. The author wrote an interesting and mature take on BDSM and had me hooked from the first chapter. The story weaves itself lyrically with long, involved chapters unraveling itself at just the right pace, only to have it all tied up in one extremely short chapter. That final chapter and epilogue were not believable and did not in any way do Alexander and Elizabeth, the story or the reader justice. With a book this long (which is a good thing in my book) what was the purpose of such and abrupt end? I'm afraid I don't know.

This was a new to me author and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. What a great story. It was different from my normal reads/listens so I wanted to give it a try. It was sexy, exciting and romantic. The audible narration made this even better. Elena and Shane were perfect performing as Alexander and Elizabeth.

Getting Him 💘 Into Her Head, Into His Bed

ARC received for an honest review
I would classify this book as an Erotic🍌 white collar crime🔪🔫 novel. The book is extremely well written from both POVs, and delves into white collar crime. Its embezzlement on a grand scale, the cover up, and the huge influence the embezzling accounting firm has in Boston. This is a long book, but the story is fascinating, with a wonderfully written side story of believable domination and submission, running through it all.

Elizabeth💋💔 is the senior tax accountant who is hung out to twist in the wind, fired, and Her work changed and falsified. Her signature forged, she is set up to take the fall for millions in thefts.

Alexander sees her submissive side, immediately, but he also sees a very strong, independent woman who will try to fight the machine all on her own.
***
Alexander🐺🍌🌋✋ is a super rich, super Dom✋, originally from England, now living in Boston. He and his brother own Fairhaven Corporation, a conglomerate, and both are Doms✋. Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ has about given up on finding a submissive partner he can love and marry, even though his mother over in England is constantly bugging him about starting a family.
The handsome, powerful, Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ is Thunderstruck when he finds Elizabeth💋💔, soaking wet in a rainstorm. Shes carrying her office belongings, after being fired and it all drops in a wet mess at his feet, when the cardboard box falls apart.
Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ has his driver pick up everything while he cajoles Elizabeth💋💔 into his limo so he can talk to her.

She is definitely not looking for love💘 while all this is going on with her lost job. She's a 32 year old professional. She has a nearly photographic memory, and she knows the tax returns she did for several companies were changed. Before she leaves she gets copies of some of the work, but doesn't know how she will be able to do anything about it against the powerful accounting firm.

Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ wants her in his bed, in his silk restraints, he is fascinated by her, because she's a real woman, so completely different than the socialites💃 he takes to the black tie charity functions of Fairhaven Charities.

Will Elizabeth💋💔 give Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ a chance to help her with her legal battle? Will she give him a chance to show her how to let go of her problems and fears while she is in his silks? Will she allow Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ to love her and dominate her in the bedroom, and yet allow her to be the strong woman she has become over the years?
Alexander🐺🌋🍌✋ is a spankster🍌, a binder, a blindfolder, he's Super Dom✋💪, for his lady!
YEHAW! Ride em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

Elizabeth and Alexander will take your breath away with their heartstopping fantastically thrilling roller coaster ride. Elizabeth is not having herself a banner day - her bosses seem to believe that she somehow monumentally screwed up on her clients taxes even though she knows that is 100% BS and in a total CYA move they fired her. So that’s how she finds herself walking in the rain with all her things in that sad box they give you when you get sacked… but then world throws her a lifeline in the form of Alexander Fairhaven. When the cities most handsome dashing billionaire scoops her out of rain in oh such a chivalrous way, Elizabeth is not really sure what to make of it. Men like him date sophisticated woman of certain tier of women, not woman like her with her pitiful bankbook and goodwill duds. Even more pressing of a concern is the fact that it appears there may be more to her getting the boot from her job at CPH than meets the eye. The more she looks and digs the more it looks like her former bosses were involved in a a widespread embezzlement scam that they are trying to use her as they scapegoat for. Alexander could just tell from the moment he saw Elizabeth standing in the rain that she was something special. It was kismet and from then on perusing her was not only a given but vital. She is beautiful sure which frankly he can get anywhere - but what really has him so enamoured is her spirit. She is smart, driven and has fire that he wants beside him in the world - and under him in the bedroom. His need to make her is Sub is driven by her desire to have a Dom. She is resistant as she doesn’t realize that being a Sub is not about giving up power but rather exchanging it for pleasure beyond measure. When Alexander learns of the problems facing her from her previous employer he is enraged especially when it begins to threaten her and he will do anything to protect her. They are partners through and through and to find a way to their HEA they will need to work together.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

This book was a little confusing. Elizabeth (she doesn't like LIzzie but went by it professionally for some reason and it's what her friends call her) was abruptly fired from the accounting firm she worked for because she supposedly made some mistakes. Although she handled 200 clients the previous year, she can remember the tax due amounts for each client and knows she didn't mess up. She meets Alexander (not Alex although his friends call him that) when she literally falls at his feet in a rainstorm and drops her box of items from her office. Although he's a notorious playboy, he's immediately drawn to her and even though she says she's not a submissive his Dom radar knows she is.

He's rich, she's not. It's never explained why a Harvard educated woman is working for such a low salary at a big accounting firm. Even though her rich parents disowned her, that doesn't mean she isn't qualified to find a well-paying job. She's insistent that she won't fit into his wealthy world but that's the world she grew up in and lived in as an adult for several years. She may not have the wardrobe, but he's willing to supply it and anything else shouldn't be a big deal.

She knows she didn't make mistakes in her job and it appears the firm is stealing clients' money so she decides to investigate on her own. I don't understand why she thinks investigating will cause Alexander to dump her if he finds out. The details of all that are very convoluted but it's clear she's placed herself in danger and she pays for that several times.

In his silks refers to the fact that he likes to tie her with a silk blend or silk rope. Simple bondage, nothing serious, and not enough to warrant the frequent references. Needless to say, she does have submissive tendancies which they enjoy exploring. She comes off as a little immature, especially considering her profession, and he's borderline obsessive but mostly in a good way.

Overall, it's a good book once you get through some of the contradictions. For what you get, I think it's priced a little high at $5.99.

The plot at first is not that bad to be honest, then it goes abit too weird….
Good side, it kept me going and the pace is good. Wont get bored.
Bad side, so many questions formed in my head!!

I like the spicy scene, introducing and leading Elizabeth into BDSM lifestyle.. but with a weird timing. If you’re being sued by your former employer I dont think I still wanna play and have the mood to learn ‘new’ things in my life. And.. how can Alexander as a Dom, doesnt like to be called ‘sir’? The mindset is not flowing for me.

maybe is me dont understand law and protection protocols thingy… although they hired so many body guards, how can the police not getting involved of the protection if they dont want to? I thought not matter you like it/ rich or poor or not, must still have police along side with the people?

Why women all like played with or wanted Alexander before? I just dont understand why this is needed to add into the story.

Why need to kept on highlighting Elizabeth is from rich to poor? And her parents after watching the news or press, they still dont want to get in touch? I know they disowned her, but still is their kids right? Will still hope that she’s okay.. right? And also her finance part doesn’t sound right to me…. She’s poor and yet still have enough money for months, poor till the furnitures etc is bbad condition yet holding a lot investment… hmmmmm….

And for my own preference only.. i dont like people die.. the assassin and the bodyguards dont sound professional for me… yes is still hea but too much drama going on in a book.

All I can say is WOW about this book by Patricia Eddy, the story, the characters, the suspense, the love/lust, the sparks, the connection, the sensual steamy scenes....perfect. Alexander & Elizabeth meet when she falls in front of him on a sidewalk after being fired from her job. She is being set up and the company she worked for and her former company has ties to the billionaire. As he pursues her and they get close, the danger and the excitement in his arms has Elizabeth doubting herself, especially after her last long term relationship messed her up but Alexander isn’t giving up and their story that follows is one you don’t want to miss.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this story, and I especially loved the characters, both of them. Elizabeth’s independence, her strong will, her strength, her courage and finally allowing herself to lean on Alexander and being able to submit to him....beautiful. Alexander is a Dom that cares deeply for Elizabeth, he is patient while introducing her to his world, protective and loving, showing his true self and willing to do anything for her and allowing her to be herself.
The story flows beautifully while keeping me on the edge of my seat with the danger but also keeping me riveted and tingly with the sensual scenes between them two as their sparks and fireworks jump off the pages. These two have now made into my top 10 of favorite couples and even though I received an ARC I had to buy it.

I've have this book on my to-read pile for some time, but after finishing it, I certainly regret waiting for so long.

Full disclosure: that other, very popular, quasi-BDSM/billionaire book that everyone's read is basically the extent of my experience in this genre. Did I enjoy it? Sure. Was it fluffy? You bet. Zero substance, a lack of connection between the characters and each other, and the characters and the reader.

Everything that's wrong in that other series is absolute perfection here.

First off, having read one of my favorite novellas from Eddy - Mistletoe and Mochas - many times, and catching a glimpse there of Alexander and Elizabeth later on in their relationship, it was a joy to be introduced to this couple's roots. Alexander exudes confidence in all the ways that Elizabeth lacks, and provides her the much-needed stability during a time when her life appears to be falling apart from all sides. She, too, complements him in ways he's only ever dreamed of, and watching him gravitate towards her made a compelling backdrop to an otherwise rather suspenseful story.

Their interactions felt not only extremely realistic - which is completely unsurprising if you've read *anything* from this author - but were incredibly hot. Again, no surprise. Everything about the story, from the romance and steam, to the action of Elizabeth's ongoing troubles, made for a fast-paced and thrilling read that I hated putting down. Definitely recommend.
