Brandi thought her life was over the day the doctor told her she was dying; nothing mattered now. That’s when she met Jabari. He walked into her life taking care of her and treating her like a queen. Before she knew it, they were running from a creature that he called a firebird. Now there was no telling what would happen, but she was going to hold on with both hands and enjoy the ride.

Jabari was never supposed to meet his mate, but if he did; she shouldn’t die before him. All bets were off because Brandi was dying, and he was too broken to save her. That meant all he could do was show her the world while they were together because one day he would wake up too broken to move again.

When the firebird attacked, Jabari realized that someone was targeting Brandi. Now he had two clear orders. One, protect and love his mate until she took her final breath. Two, kill whoever was after her and take his last breath. Love was never meant to be forever… or was it?

What would you give up to keep your mate alive?

This was another great book in the "Broken Created" line. I think I like these better because they aren't as complicated as the A'rouk brothers. They each have their own challenges, but the darkness isn't after them or their mate. At least I don't think so, but who knows how the plot will unfold. There's definitely a bad "reaper" who wants the Broken, but when these brothers band together with their mates, it seems as though nothing can stop them. I was, however, worried that Jabari and Brandi wouldn't be able to be together for always because of Brandi's struggle. I know-- you want to know what it's all about. So go and 1-click the book today! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book, and I borrowed it through the Kindle Unlimited program too.

This book, oh my goodness, I cried more than once over Jabari and Brandi. Great characters, a wonderful plot and writing that pulled me in from the first page. Yes, there are editing issues that impact the overall quality of the writing, but the underlying story is really good. I'm hoping that Serena Simpson will find an editor that can help her polish her work and really make it shine. Good story!

Serious editing needed.

This story about one of the "created " brethren pertains to Jabari and a struggling designer, Brandi. She is Jabari's mate but is dying from an unknown disease. Meanwhile, both are trying to stay alive whilst being attacked from all corners. There are so many errors (ex: your instead of you're), that it is hard to enjoy the story.

Love this series!

Loved this book, the Broken are so sad! Finding their mates makes for amazing stories. Though this one had such a sad story line, it tore my heart up! Can't wait for the next one!

Overcoming it all

Jabari finds his mate only to learn she is dying with only weeks to live. He gives her all of him in those weeks and Brandi, tough chick that she is, loved him more for it. Miracles do happen and we get our HEA.
