The Charmer is book two in the series, Harbor City, by Avery Flynn. This is my very first book by Avery. Not having read the first book in this series did not take away from my enjoyment of this one at all. But I will warn you that if you haven’t read it, you will want to after you get caught up in how fantastic this book is, just as I did.
Hudson Carlyle is part of Harbor City’s elite. His family’s Carlyle Enterprises built this city. Hudson lost his father several years ago so now his brother, Sawyer, runs the business. Hudson has a corner office he visits once a quarter. Hudson’s best weapon is his legendary charm. So while he will leave running the numbers up to his brother, he helps to charm the clients.
Hudson is also well known for using his charm with the ladies. It is a well deserved reputation. So no one is more confused than he is when he first spotted Felicia Hartigan in that way too big, awful dress, at the fund raiser, and he could not take his eyes off of her.
Felicia is a scientist, her life’s work is studying the honey pot ants. It’s what she lives for. That, and secretly loving the man she has known literally all her life, Tyler Jacobson. Tyler grew up next door to her family and sees her as a little sister. Whenever she is around him, she gets all tongue tied and nervous. She would give anything to get Tyler to notice her as a woman.
“He’d help get her the thing she wanted most, and he’d hope that at the end, she’d want someone else - him, at least for the moment.”
Tyler and Hudson’s brother have been best friends for years but have had a falling out. Hudson’s mother wants them to mend fences and enlists the aid of Hudson. So, Hudson decides that he can help Tyler and his brother get back to their bromance, and at the same time, help Felicia get Tyler to notice her the way she wants. But it is obvious to him that Tyler is the complete wrong man for her. So he is hoping that in getting Felicia the one thing she thinks she wants more than anything, he can win the girl for himself.
So begins operation “My Fair Lady.” Hudson is schooling Felicia in how to win the man of her dreams, or so she thinks. As things progressed, though, he had to wonder just who was the one really getting schooled.
“It felt too good. He felt too good, like they were meant to be like this and that the flirting and lessons and everything else had just been a way for the universe to get them here.”
Hudson has a huge secret, one he has kept hidden from everyone else for years. The more Felicia wraps herself around his heart, the harder it is to keep his secret from her. Does he dare share it with her, take the biggest risk of his life and open up and let her see who he really is, what he really is?

This book was amazing. My love for both Hudson and Felicia was pretty much immediate. Hudson was indeed a charmer. It worked on me! And little five foot tall Felicia. At times I could feel her insecurity, but at other times, this little snippet of a woman was more like six feet tall inside. As I said above, this was my first book by this author and I was pretty surprised that it was freaking hot as heck. This is a good thing by the way. Avery Flynn can most definitely steam up the pages in the best of ways and let me tell you, Hudson and Felicia had my e-reader smoking.
This book was fun, hot, sweet with witty banter and wonderful characters. I loved it. I will not hesitate for an instant to pick up another book by this author. Count me in as a new fan.

A SEXY and DELIGHTFUL romantic comedy that will leave you with the biggest smile on your face! THE CHARMER is a follow-up to THE NEGOTIATOR, and it follows two different characters so it can be read as a complete standalone romance. Although, I will tell you that I absolutely ADORED THE NEGOTIATOR just as much as this one! A notorious playboy charmer of a man and a nerdy ant researcher...now doesn’t that sound unique, hilarious, and AMAZING?! I absolutely LOVE this kind of story, where the nerdy woman gets the HOT man! Ugh! So so good! The minute Hudson Carlyle lays eyes on the honey pot ant enthusiast, something shifts for him. But when he finds out she has some unrequited love for another man since she was young, he is determined to use this to his advantage somehow.
Felicia Hartigan is certainly not immune to the charms of Hudson, but her eyes are set on another man, and if Hudson wants to help her, she’ll be better for it...or will she? It’s evident from the beginning that ‘The Charmer’ is like a flip-off to the brother’s best-friend trope, a twist which is in itself, an interesting though tricky one. I don’t know why books that involve academics/geeks/researchers or brainy protagonists appeal so much, but they do. The moment I saw ‘Ant researcher’ in the blurb, I was quite sold on reading this, but was disappointed when it didn’t quite turn out the way I’d hoped.
Yet it’s somewhat slow going though and it was strangely hard to buy into Felicia and Hudson as a couple, particularly since there were several layers of deception, a ton of denial as well as instances of molehills being made mountains which, as staples of the rom-com, should have made me laugh but didn’t. Instead, both Felicia and Hudson were clichéd in the ways that define romantic comedy: the geeky, awkward woman with the tendency to say inappropriate (but apparently adorkable) things and the smarmy, cocky, smug manwhore millionaire who never needed help getting notches on his bedpost yet is strangely attracted to the ‘plainer’ one who is wary of him. Not only did I struggle to get past these stereotypes, I also found myself becoming as frustrated by Felicia’s inability to decide what or whom she really wanted as I was with Hudson’s inability to own what he does as well as his general dishonesty with Felicia—whom he’d never intended to end up with Tyler anyway despite his so-called help.
Their steamy scenes weren’t really the problem—Avery Flynn writes them scorching enough—only that those actually faded into the background and mattered less simply because the bottom-line was that I couldn’t get invested in Felicia and Hudson together with a whole farcical setup that was really leading nowhere for most of the story. I ended up skimming the last half of ’The Charmer’, interested only to see how it all blew up between them before the grovelling began. Unfortunately, I’m going to say that this isn’t a book for me at all.

As soon as I finished The Negotiator, I wanted The Charmer so I could dig into Hudson's story. So when I was able to score an ARC of The Charmer, I was thrilled! This second book in the series was just as good as the first! I loved it! Laugh out loud hilarious, so unique, romantic, super sexy and just a good time. Yes, this book was a good time. :-D
Hudson Carlyle is the notorious, playboy charmer of Harbor City and the Carlyle clan. Everyone sees the wit, smiles, the I-don't-care-about-anything-but-my-next-lay attitude and believe the facade he presents. He hides behind that mask, unwilling to share the real him with anyone because he guards a carefully held secret. His mother is depending on this charm to bring his brother Sawyer and Tyler, his estranged friend together again.
One night at a fundraiser event at Harbor City's Natural Museum, he spots a totally unassuming woman wearing the most hideous black dress who captures his attention. The woman is Felicia Hartigan, researcher of the honey pot ant, youngest of a large, boisterous Irish American clan, owner of the orneriest cat in creation, and sufferer of unrequited love for Tyler. Felicia has been in love with Tyler since he moved in next door to her family when they were kids, and he's never looked at her as anything other than the nerdy, shy but sweet little sister of the Hartigan boys. But with only weeks left before her thirtieth birthday, she plans on changing that. Little does she know she has a Henry Higgins waiting in the wings to help her achieve her goals.

She knew him like no others, which was why he felt safe with her to share his deepest secret of being the renown painter, Hughston. Their relationship was a joy to see evolve. From the passion they both shared that was HOT, they became not just friends but fell in love, though they both fought it because of their own doubts and insecurities. And can I say the grand gesture was SO good! Had me swooning!
But it wasn't just Hudson and Felicia that made this book. It was also the secondary characters like in The Negotiator. Hudson's family, Tyler, Felicia's brothers and sisters, Honeypot the cat and even the honeypot ants. They all formed this wonderful, heart-warming, funny, emotional, sexy tale. And I can't wait for Tyler and Everly's book!

I enjoyed my first Avery Flynn book. Hudson Carlyle and Felicia Hartigan’s romance is the second in the Harbor City series but it’s not necessary to read the first book to enjoy this one. I actually had the first book buried on my Mountain o' TBR, but hadn't gotten around to it, since I'd heard mixed reviews. Normally reading out of order makes me OCD, but I'm glad I forged ahead because Hudson and Felicia's romance was worth the read.
Hudson has secrets. Felicia is an open book. There’s a bit of opposites attract mixed into this “fall for each other while trying to hook up the heroine with another man” trope. What I loved is that Hudson truly is attracted and way into Felicia way before any mild type of “makeover” aspect, which was refreshing. Felicia also shows her true feelings for Hudson throughout the book, so I don't think the reader is ever in doubt as to how these two feel for each other, unlike them. Sigh.
What I wasn’t a huge fan of was the fact that this romance depends heavily on the misunderstanding/jealousy scenario and it can push the envelope with it. There’s really no “safety gang” issues in the physical sense, so no worries but I may have rolled my eyes a time or two when these two were so oblivious to their feelings for each other and completely jealous of other people. If the jealousy angle isn’t your thing, you may not enjoy this. However, when all is said and done, and the inevitable dramatic dustups aside (and the inevitable setup for the next romance), I liked it and I would recommend it to others who would like this type of light, contemporary romance.

I´m sorry to say that I didn´t like this one as much as the first one in the series and the others I´ve read about the Hartigan siblings. I couldn´t connect with the characters and this whole thing was a bit too silly at times for me.

The Charmer was totally Avery Flynn. A real RomCom that combined humor, angst, love and lots and lots of Honeypot Ants. Hudson and Felicia were the ultimate definition of “opposites attract” and they were hilarious while realizing it. Hudson was such a multifaceted man who knew his true self but was always afraid to show it. Felicia, in her own way, knew what she wanted and always went after it. It took a lot for both of them to realize what they had in each other and what they could lose.
Hudson was your ultimate flirt, womanizer and all-around good guy. Never helping himself out but always helping others. Try as he might, he never felt that he lived up to the Carlyle name, hiding himself from everyone while being in plain sight. So, if Felicia really wants Tyler, he will help her get him. And, if it benefits his libido, so be it.
Felicia has been in “love” with Tyler since she was a teenager. Being her brothers best friend doesn’t help matters at all … her being shy and uncomfortable around people really doesn’t help. She can’t figure out why a man like Hudson would want to help her in her quest to win him. She has no idea how helping her win Tyler will help Hudson with his mission.
As the two become closer, as they become friends and Hudson teaches her the ways she can get Tyler, Felicia starts second-guessing her choices. She has an analytical mind and turning over every hypothesis is leading her to one conclusion … it’s not Tyler she wants. But, she has to go on with charade, if she doesn’t, Hudson won’t come around anymore and she desperately wants him around and in her bed. She has to find a way to get him to see his true self and her as a woman.
Avery Flynn always does a wonderful job of amusing me, making me smile and charming the panties off of me. Her style of writing is fun and flirty. The characters she builds are always strong and independent but vulnerable. I truly love the way she writes a love story and injects just the right amount of humor and drama to make the story totally enjoyable.Oh, by the way Hudson … Black with Purple Hearts.

The story of Felicia, a nerdy scientist who studies ants, and Hudson, the charming millionaire with a secret identity as a famous painter who becomes immediately captivated by Felicia upon first laying eyes on her.
Hudson is very good at reading people and helping fix relationships, and his talents are needed to help mend the rift between his older brother Sawyer and his best friend Tyler that was caused when and that has lasted for far too long. The best way that Hudson can see to achieve that goal is to get Tyler happily paired up, and the perfect candidate seems to be the badly dressed scientist who obviously has a crush on him.
Felicia has achieved everything on her "to accomplish before I turn 30" list except getting Tyler to go out with her, something she's determined to change before her upcoming birthday.
When Hudson approaches her with an unsolicited offer of help in exchange for allowing him to paint her, however, she dismisses him until he shows her that he is more than what he appears to be.
The two start spending time together, with Hudson helping Felicia showcase how awesome she is while enjoying her company, and at the same time hoping that she'll decide to take a chance on him instead.
The chemistry between them is palpable, and it's not long before they cross the line from friends to lovers, but it takes them a few wrong turns before they eventually realize that they are perfect for each other.
A fun book, with a hero who is smitten with the heroine and has to work to earn her affections despite all his many charms, and a satisfying happy ending.
The series continues with Tyler and Everly's story next in The Schemer.

Okay, so this was not what I expected! First of all, I was really excited for this book, since Hudson was such a lovely character in the first book, manpulative yeah, but lovely. When I started to really get into the story though, I disliked him more and more. He is supposed to be this charming and sexily confident male lead, but in my opinion he came across as a rather arrogant player, and not in a good sense. Hudson needed to remind himself constantly that he is a womanizing and free man that cannot fall in love because "who would entertain the ladies world of Harbor City then?", which jokingly or not seems more sleazy than charming. Felicia was the only good component to this book ... and the ending which I thought was good as well. Her independent and set ways were a bit frustrating at times, but at least she didn't get fazed by Hudson's charm (which, OH GOD, had never happened before). Yeah, as one can tell I am not at all happy with how this story turned out and am seriously contemplating just dropping the third book, but we'll see when September rolls around.

I liked this book, but I didn't love it.
I had no real connection to all the people in this story. They all didn't feel real, which made it hard for me to invest emotions.
Maybe it's just me. This isn't a bad book. I read it in two days because I wanted to know how Felicia and Hudson will get their HEA. It was just a too stereotypical RomCom.
If you want to know more about ants than you ever thought possible: read this book. The ant part was adorable. But if you want to read a heartbreaking love story, read something else.

I feel like this book has been done before.... many times. And the thins is, I don't get it. I don't get when people help other people land the person of their dreams, when it happens to be another person. I don't get why people need sex lessons with other people. when everyone one is different.

September 24, 2017Well this was just all kinds of cute and sweet and feely and FUN! You can jump right into this book without having read The Negotiator so worries there.
I wasn't a fan of the first book in this series, but I never give up on anything unless I've tried it a few times and I'm glad I continued. There's still a few people left in this circle I would love to read their journeys so looking forward to that.

Hudson is a man who knows how to text a lady, "I bet you’re cute and commando. That’s the mental picture I have right now. It’s hot." Hudson likes to push his woman at times to give him a bigger ego, “a man with exceedingly talented hands?” He dropped his voice to a whisper. “And tongue? And—” I loved this book, I fell in love with Hudson.

Gah! This was just all kinds of awesome! Totally loving this series and Avery Flynn hit the nail on the head with this romantic comedy. Hudson, the easy-going, charming Carlyle brother is an enigma. He perfectly plays the role that everyone expects him to be, but behind the scenes there is so much more to him. Attending a fundraising event he is completely taken by the most unassuming woman ever, Felicia. She's an entomologist, specializing in myrmecology (had no cooking clue what this was and Avery Flynn taught me something new. So much so that I Google'd it all. Fascinating stuff). Felicia is more interested in ants than humans. She's socially awkward and all signs point to being "the ugly duckling". Hudson's fascination with her at the fundraiser leads him to seeing her lovestruck eyes for one of his family friends, Tyler. And since Hudson is a fixer-upper and pleaser, he offers his extensive services to her so she can make Tyler finally notice her.
The title of the book was apt. Hudson was a charmer. And he was such a sweetheart! I fell in love with him myself and have made him a member of my Book Boyfriend Club :) He and Felicia were perfect for each other. Despite their differences, they just complemented each other. Their banter and foreplay was deliciously hot and I loved how they sure each other beyond the exterior.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one!

Was soll ich sagen? Ich mochte sie ein wenig, ihn so gar nicht. Daran ändert auch seine Malerei nichts. Ich musste mich am Ende regelrecht zwingen, die letzten Seiten noch zu lesen. Dafür, dass das erste so eine Sogwirkung auf mich hatte, schon erstaunlich. Als wäre es von zwei unterschiedlichen Autorinnen geschrieben. Teil 3 werde ich wohl nicht mehr lesen. (Auch wenn ich gerne wüsste, wie die Enthüllung "ich Arsch bin übrigens dein Vermieter" vonstatten geht.)
Aber nunja, wie immer gilt: nur weil ich es nicht mochte, ist es wohl kein generell schlechtes Buch. Versucht es selbst, vielleicht entdeckt ihr was, was ihr mögt.

The Charmer was both charming, hot and sweet! I loved Hudson and Felicia - even as they were both trying to deny their feelings for the other.
Story:
The Charmer shows a different aspect of Hudson - he was the aloof brother in The Negotiator , but here, he was quite intense. Especially when he tried not to be. When he first met Felicia, there were sparks. But Hudson tried to deny those sparks. Especially as he realized that Felicia had a thing for Tyler, his brother's former best friend. And so, the scheming began.
Hudson proposed to help Felicia land Tyler, and that sure made for some very humorous moments. The Charmer was full of hot sparks, and the chemistry between Felicia and Hudson were so hot my kindle almost burned my hands ;) And as these to got to know each other better, it was obvious they were meant to be together.
The Charmer also includes characters from The Negotiator, which brought back some good memories for me. I loved Clover and Sawyer, and I have to say, I really hope that one day, Helene - the guys mother - will get her own book. She totally deserves some happiness too.
Characters:
Felicia is not the typical romance heroine, she is strong, determined, smart, and I loved how she was able to think clearly. At least when Hudson wasn't within touching distance.
Hudson is an artist, and I really enjoyed how he was keeping this part of himself from his family. Even if he was successful, he felt guilty about painting instead of running the family empire.
Writing style :
The Charmer is written in third person perspective, past tense, and follows either Felicia or Hudson. With the omniscient narrator and the great dialogues, as well as the interactions between the characters the story flowed very well.

Lots of yummy feels with this story. I mean, how often do you both laugh and wince with a character on the same page? And really, the romance was such a gorgeous burn I just wanted more and more.
His chest tightened at the thought of all the little white lies he'd been telling his family for years to keep his double life a secret. They thought he was nothing more than a rich playboy, only interested in the next cover model he could get naked, and that was just how things needed to remain.
Walking out that door was almost as hard as he was, but he did it anyway.

I loved this book! Hudson... have mercy. Another book I did not put down. It's just that good. When the story starts to take the first few twists and turns, I couldn't help myself, just had to keep reading.
Hudson is the charming of the two brothers, and frankly he is just that. Looking at him and workaholic, driven Sawyer just give me Hudson. He wants no part of the family business, shows up at events only when beckoned by his mother Helene. Here we see him invited to the museum for an exhibition when a young woman wearing what he describes as a sack catches his eye, and his desire to paint her kicks in. Hudson has a secret life. He's a highly successful artist whose paintings are prized. He hides it from his family, after being chastised in college by his father who pressed him into business or else. After the fall out from book one, Sawyer and Tyler still aren't talking to each other because they're both jackhats and Helene sets about an idea that Hudson needs to fix this. Because Hudson is a fixer. During the evening he meets Felicia.
Felicia is his object d'art and desire. Felicia has a PhD in I'll be brief here, insects, namely a specific species of ant. Felicia is form across the river in Waterbury, comes from a loud, large Irish family and is no bigger than a minute. They called her pocket sized. When Tyler's family moved into the neighborhood she finally met someone she could talk to, but he was her older brothers best friend and Tyler got a scholarship to the prep school back across the river. The town that the Carlyle's basically built. Felicia has had a major crush on Tyler forever (although it totally eludes me why). Hudson doesn't get it either, but makes a deal with Felicia that she'll help him get the two guys back on speaking terms meanwhile he'll coach her on dating and in return she agrees to let him paint her.
Hudson jumps in with both feet to his newly assigned duty with her and I loved it. I loved them both.
Hudson was so slick without being slimy- he was -yes, charming. His nickname for her was Matches and Matches was a little slow out of the gate, but she caught up. Started getting confused about her feelings and had to remind herself that Tyler was the end goal. There were a couple of things Tyler did in this book that peeved me about his friendship with Matches and I didn't like it or him for doing it. Selfish, he is.
So Avery, fantastic storyteller that she is weaves us a story that really entwines Hudson and Matches, let me not forget her one eyed cat who is one step away from feral, but of course loves Hudson.
Meanwhile he takes her to his grandfathers cabin, which is his secret working place and she sees all these sketches of her. She then realizes who her favorite painter is as well and is sworn to secrecy.
Hudson has a big showing coming up at Everly's gallery.
When the bottom drops out of things, Felicia is wounded and holes up in her tiny apartment. Hudson is a train wreck and someone has to intervene. Yes it comes too. Small army because Hudson needs that. Yes, I'm obviously being sketchy, you're lucky you got this much... this is a must read book.
I love Avery's books but this tops my list. It's got everything wrapped up into a nice tidy package, ok not tidy, the one eyed cat thing... but it is perfect. I loved this book and for me tops book one.
Avery you have outdone yourself with this one. It's a must read and a keeper.

Avery Flynn is back with the second book in the Harbor City series and if the cover alone doesn’t entice you alone to buy the book (major, swoonage) let me say this BUY THE DAMN BOOK IT’S AWESOME!!!! to see if it will convince you.
Seriously, this book is so much fun and so hot that it could just be the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Though maybe I should amend that to it should be illegal because Hudson and Felicia certainly know how to have a mighty good time with their clothes on. (fans self-thinking about again)
I absolutely loved this book. So much so that I’m finding it very hard to write this review because I really don’t think I can do it justice. I knew going in that I would love it and I was most certainly not disappointed. If you are after a book that’s equal parts hilarious and hot with more than a dash of trademark Avery Flynn sass and snark, not to forget the heaping of nerd thrown in, THIS is the book for you.
I admit I was already half in love with Hudson after reading the first book The Negotiator, but nothing could prepare me for the full on assault of Hudson the Charmer. Who knew that he could have another side as surprising as he does? Hold onto your panties readers. Yes he’s that good. Give him a heroine like Felicia and watch the sparks and clothing fly.
Where to start with Felicia, I loved her so much. From her nerdy love of Honeypot ants, to her hilarious family, to her determination to get the guy she has always wanted there was so much to love about her. I no kidding want her as a bestie. (Bonus points if I get to interact Hudson occasionally) The fact that she gave as good as she got in and out of the bedroom to Hudson just made her even better.
Put them together and Holy smokes are Hudson and Felicia hot. They give new meaning to the word combustible. It’s almost too much fun to see them fall and fall hard without realising its happening. And every time they are on the page together, I was either feeling a hot flash or laughing at their snark and banter.
I must mention Felicia’s cat, Honeypot. The damn thing had me laughing at it far more than I probably should have. Just you wait to meet her and see her love for Hudson. See I told you he’s good. Not to mention that my favourite mother is back with yet more surprises and schemes.
Avery Flynn you have delivered another hilarious and undeniably hot romp in Harbor City and I can’t for the final bachelor in Tyler to go down in flames. Well played Flynn, well played.

Wenn man den Klappentext durchliest, stutzt man vermutlich erst einmal. Wie soll denn das funktionieren? Hudson hilft Felicia, den Mann für sich zu gewinnen, von dem sie schon seit ihrer Jugend träumt und gleichzeitig will er aber, dass sie sich in ihn selbst verliebt? Es verspricht auf jeden Fall eine witzige Story und so ist es auch.
Hudson ist eigentlich ein Traummann. Er ist attraktiv, charmant und auch noch stinkreich. Die Frauen liegen ihm zu Füßen, nur Felicia nicht. Und das macht sie vermutlich für ihn auch so interessant. Hier hat er endlich eine Frau, bei der er sich anstrengen muss, um sie für sich zu gewinnen. Blöderweise will sie aber einen anderen Mann und ausgerechnet Hudson schlägt ihr vor, ihr dabei zu helfen, ihn zu erobern.
Felicia ist in ihrem Aussehen eher unscheinbar und kleidet sich auch so. Doch sie ist sehr intelligent und weiß als Ameisenspezialistin (Honigtopfameisen) immer interessante Dinge über ihre Schützlinge zu erzählen. Natürlich gibt es auch hier ab und zu die Umwandlung zum schönen Schwan bzw diverse Anspielungen auf "My fair Lady". Doch Kleider und Schönheit stehen nicht im Vordergrund. Die Autorin legt schon auch Wert darauf, dass auch Intelligenz sexy sein kann.
Apropos sexy: Es gibt in diesem Buch immer wieder Sexszenen. Diese sind sehr schön, anregend und jedesmal anders beschrieben. Hier wiederholt sich nichts, deshalb werden sie auch nicht langweilig. Für mich haben sie gut in die Story gepasst.
Auch der Schreibstil der Autorin war wieder sehr angenehm. Wie auch den ersten Teil habe ich dieses Buch in kürzester Zeit verschlungen. Der zweite Band kann unabhängig zum ersten gelesen werden.

Felicia was the bump in the road he could not go around. She was just the distraction that he needed in his life. Hudson just was not expecting for her to be such a challenge. Felicia had her priorities in place and one sexy Hudson was not going to step in her way not matter what he offered her. He pushed and pushed. She relented only when she felt it would suit her. Tatiana Sokolov was the added piece to the recipe that allowed for it to move forward. She maintained characters from beginning to end.

Felicia was the bump in the road he could not go around. She was just the distraction that he needed in his life. Hudson just was not expecting for her to be such a challenge. Felicia had her priorities in place and one sexy Hudson was not going to step in her way not matter what he offered her. He pushed and pushed. She relented only when she felt it would suit her. She did not see any value in the data he was offering her. She needed to have cold hard facts. Somewhere along the way that all changed.

Read Avery Flynn out of order, and maybe, to my detriment.
I read Loud Mouth, it was great. Read ButterFace, it was okay. I then read Muffin Top, eh less okay.
Then I read Charmer thinking, backstepping in the entire series of the Hartigans, I would get a fuller picture and enjoy Flynn's world more. Nope.
I don't know what happened. Did I burn out my Avery Flynn receptors? Did the actual quality of book go down? Maybe she is a better writer now and working back in the publication history wasn't a good idea.... These didn't jive with me. This book didn't jive with me.
I love the tropes she uses. I just.. nope.
I would recommend to those that want a ugly duckling falls for hot artist who is also a mega business dude type.

They have a major fall out and break their not so non-relationship up. But both are miserable without each other.
The Charmer is beautifully thought out, beautifully written and beautifully told. I love the words and the characters.
I can´t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

Hudson is what his family call the Charmer , but he is really a world know painter ( his family doesn't know ) Felicia loves Ants oh and she studies them :D SHE thinks she wants Tyler but he doesn't see her that way ( they've been friends they whole lives pretty much ) Hudson wants HER ( well to paint her and well maybe get her out of his system ) He says he will help her get Tyler's attention ( even tho he doesn't want Tyler to see her that way ) In exchange she helps him fix the rift between Sawyer ( Hudsons brother ) and Tyler.....come along on this sometimes HOT ride with lots of "Lessons " as these two learn their way to being true to themselves you will be glad you did
