Whiskey Witches Origins: S M Blooding, The Demon Whiskey - Has an overview, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before reading it. Although I was disappointed with the last part of Whiskey Witches, I decided to read TDW. This book can be read after or before WW, without any spoilers. Well written, with realistic dialog and an interesting plot. By realistic, I don't mean vulgar language, since nowadays that's considered the real way to talk. This book is heavy with vulgar language, which I found distracting in both books, and caused me to start skimming after a few chapters. But at least the English out weights the profanity. The author and I butted heads, and while we agreed to disagree, we found we had similar backgrounds. I found Blooding a nice and funny lady through our emails. Minor editing needed. I contacted the author to review her books after reading Whiskey Witches. 4*
S M Blooding, Whiskey Witches #1 - Intense. This well written, interesting story hits the floor running and doesn't stop until the last quarter of the story. The characters are believable and the twisting plot keeps the reader immersed in reading until the last 25%. The book then got boring and silly in places. Unfortunately, WW is heavy with vulgar language, which distracted me in places. I do credit the author with some restraint, since there could have been more profanity. Minor editing needed. This is my first book by this author and I will be reading The Demon Whiskey. 4*
S M Blooding, Blood Moon Magick #2 - The stories keep getting better. Another well written, intriguing, fast paced book. The suspense filled storylines keep the reader immersed in the pages, making it hard to put the book down. The characters grow more with each story and the new characters are just as interesting. Ms. Blooding does an excellent job with her vivid descriptions and action scenes; you're actually there with the characters. Kinda hard when you've got a good imagination and everything is clear; makes ya lazy. More paranormals add to the mix, adding a good depth to the series. Needs editing. 4*
S M Blooding, Barrel of Whiskey #3 - I know why I love this series, the Whiskeys reside in Texas. Not really, it helps, but the author does a great job with her well written storylines and interesting characters. The plot rides like a rollercoaster out of control; the pace is fast and there's nonstop action. The characters, good and bad, make this, amongst other things, a difficult book to put down. Vivid descriptions are the norm for this author. Needs editing. 4*
S M Blooding, Witches of the West #4 -I love that I got to chain read the last three books. I never got tired of the well written, intriguing storylines; the interesting characters; and the fast paced action. Ms. Blooding is an artist with her vivid descriptions and rollercoaster plots, which make her books difficult to put down. Read them in order for the best entertainment. Needs editing. 4* Whiskey Witches Origins End.
Love what Ms. Blooding has done with this story line and the characters!
I chose this rating from the well-crafted story line and the well defined characters that didn't feel cliche or forced in any way. The strong female lead, Detective Paige Whiskey, is a good example of what a real woman should be despite her witchly powers that come with being one of the Whiskey Witches. I identify with the character more and more as the series goes on and the things happen that make her family dysfunctional, as they strike a deeply personal note that resonates with some events in my own life that I might wish on my worst enemy, but only in my deepest throes of anger and depression! The events in the stories follow a logical flow and have a basis for their occurrence, unlike some other books I have recently tried to read and could not complete. I appreciate the author's integrity of story and character development. I do think she still needs a grammar and punctuation editor in some places, though. Insolvent let me dock her half a star for that, but I tried. Other than that, I am ready for more Whiskey Witches!
With so many paranormal books around, it's hard to find one with a fresh twist. But this great set of Whiskey Witches does just that. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love Frankie Blooding's writing! Paige Whiskey is an law enforcement officer in an unusual family where everyone else has some of kind of magical, supernatural ability. One of her siblings can seek out demons, for example. They come against shapeshifters, werewolves, and vampires. Paige has made a decision that may ultimately change everyone in her family's lives. This is a fun-filled, entertaining, action packed book. Check it out for a great read, I highly recommend it! I can't wait to read more of the Whiskey Witches series.
Overall not bad but there are a lot of grammar mistakes. The plot seems to set up nice but gets resolved way too quickly. Characters don't seem to learn and get hung up on the same thing over and over again. Lot of focus on family which I'm mixed about. It's like trying to make them human it going overboard.
The Whiskey Witches are great. Just have a little more to deal with then the normal paranormal who has enough on their plates without all the extras that they have to work on to just staying alive. Looking forward for more.
I am really liking the Whiskey Witches. To me it started off a little slow but eventually I was hooked and finished these in no time. Reading the box set is fantastic because you can just continue on from one book to the next without stopping if you want. (Which is exactly what I did!)
This is a fantastic series of books with fascinating and unique characters. The pages are filled with exciting action, suspense, magic, shifters, and a host of other paranormal creatures. I loved these books, and recommend it as a must read for any one that enjoys a lot of magic and a little romance.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this book.
