None of the Holmes’ siblings take Reid very seriously, and he’s done nothing to try and change their minds about him. But when he wakes next to yet another beautiful woman who’s name he can’t remember, he realizes it’s time for a life change. And when he meets Holmes Construction newest employee, he realizes Brooklyn is someone worth changing for.

Brooklyn blames herself for the closing of her dad’s company, and now she’s going to work twice as hard for Holmes Construction to help pay for her dad’s medical bills. But even though she’s the best at what she does, her heart belongs to another passion: drawing and writing comics. Luckily she has a gorgeous workplace crush to keep her mind occupied while on the construction site.

Awaken Me is a wonderful slow-burn romance between two people more alike on the inside than anyone would suspect. Brooklyn and Reid are both afraid to take chances for fear of disappointing their families. Where as Reid allows his family to think he’s shallow and doesn’t take life seriously, Brooklyn strives to do her best to show her parents she’s the dependable, hard worker they know her to be. But both want more from life, and they are posed at the precipice of change when they meet one another, which allows them to grow both individually and mutually.

Mutual attraction plays a role in their story. But instead of jumping into bed, both want to take it slow, even when their bodies don’t agree. This is important, because in order for the relationship to have a chance, they need to get to know each other, and both need to take down walls. I love the little moments when each is open and honest, sharing some of the person they are on the inside.

Awaken Me is a solid romance, but it’s the extras that make the book a story; a journey. The overwhelming feelings stirred by the memories of Reid’s deceased mom are touching and heartfelt. I love the family-centric setting, including the fears of letting down loved ones. It’s all relatable.

In the end, I truly enjoyed the slow burn romance of Brooklyn and Reid. They are two peas in a pod: both filled with fears and insecurities. They felt a connection and allowed it to blossom over time, creating a passionate love story.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

So Good!

Another good visit with the Holmes Family! This time, it's Reid's turn. He meets Brooklyn when she starts to work for Alex's growing construction company, and wants to dislike her, but her Black Girl Magic proves to be too much to resist. I love that Brooklyn was so different from our usual heroine; she was into comics and cosplay, a self-proclaimed nerd (or blerd, lol), with a unique vibe. Poor Reid didn't stand a chance. Speaking of Reid, while handsome and fine as hell (I mean, he is a Holmes!), he also wasn't the usual hero. He had issues that he struggled with, which made him very real and relatable to me. I love a sexy, alpha billionaire as much as everybody else, but it's also nice to read about someone you might actually find in real life. Loved the way these two encouraged each other to face their fears. Although they seemed to be opposites, they were perfect for each other.

I've been low-key worried about Willow and Harrison throughout this part of the series. And just when I thought they'd worked through whatever issues they're having, they dropped that bombshell at the end. Please, please, please let their story be next! I need to know what's going on. And why!

Also...Jonathan. Ma'am! He keeps popping up being gorgeous, fine and helpful. He intrigues me. Got my fingers and toes crossed that you're cooking something up for him.

I loved getting to know Reid and Brooklyn, especially Reid, as he had been in the background in all the other Holmes Brothers books. He was the youngest, and he felt like nobody took him seriously. He had sometimes acted in ways that made it easy to dismiss him, however, when he started to change, his family took a while to catch on to the fact that he was growing as a human being.
Brooklyn was a fantastic nerdy girl, and I totally want to read something she wrote...

Awaken Me: The Holmes Brothers Book 6 is by Farrah Rochon. This is the last book of the Holmes brothers unless Farrah decides differently. I don’t know where she would go with this since it is a family series; but I would love to see. This series was great. All the books were enough different to keep my interest. They weren’t so cookie cutter that it bored me. This book is about Reid.
Reid is the youngest Holmes brother and he was definitely spoiled and admitted it. Because he was the youngest, the others had their circles of friends before he came along and they tended to leave him out. In fact, he was left out of a meeting for the foundation they were setting up in their Mother’s memory. Indina sent it to him by mistake. They thought he was a screw-up and didn’t listen to his suggestions. He felt intimidated by the others as Harrison was a lawyer, Ezra was a world known journalist, and Indina an Interior decorator for major businesses. He was constantly going out with a different girl, almost nightly. What made this gorgeous man decide to try to date tomboyish Brooklyn LeBlanc? Could he live down his reputation?
Brooklyn LeBlanc was the new site coordinator for Harrison Construction. She had come from LeBlanc and Sons which had closed its doors. This wasn’t her first choice of a job; but it was one she was well qualified for. Because she was little and looked younger than she was, she was often overlooked. However, she had another dream- to become a comic illustrator. Can she do it?

As the baby of his family, Reid Holmes has happily played the role of the Charming, Irresponsible One. But as his 30th birthday approaches, Reid wonders whether he should be doing more with his life than working as a plumber for Holmes Construction (HC). Now he has the chance to shed his carefree playboy image and go into business for himself with an app that answers plumbing questions or sends certified plumber, but is leaving his cousin’s construction company a sign of growing up, or the ultimate show of disloyalty? And with the arrival of Holmes Construction’s gorgeous new site coordinator and HC’s expansion plans, Reid isn’t sure now is the best time to jump ship. When her father is forced to close his family’s longtime construction business, Brooklyn LeBlanc sees her chance to break free of the job she’s been stuck in since age 15 and finally pursue her dream of writing comics. But responsibilities—and her secret role in the demise of her family’s business, slacking doing the paperwork to prove she wasn’t perfect—forces Brooklyn to again put the career she truly desires on the back burner. But what happens when her harmless workplace crush awakens feelings that aren’t so innocent?

It's aptly named...puts you to sleep...Surprised by this series, this is book 6 and they become less and less interesting

Sinfully good

Awaken Me struck so many cords of everyday life and relationships. Ms. Rochon tackled learning disabilities, business ventures, new budding love, and aging parents in this wonderful Holmes family novel. The attraction between Reid and Brooklyn was evident from the beginning trailer scene. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and their drive to dream big and strive to make them reality. It was infectious. I love every book in this series but this book is now my favorite. Five stars of sensual sinsations

Love Me Some Reid

Many thoughts have been running through my mind. Brooklyn's and Reid's self discovery and questioning whether the choices for their life's path is an all too familiar personal exercise. I fully appreciated their resolve. Excluding an anticipated immediate physical hookup kept the characters real and kept me definitely wondering when. Both Brooklyn's and Reid's difficulty accepting their truths promoted not putting the book down. Love me some Reid. I recommend Awaken Me as a Saturday afternoon reading journey .

My favourite

These books just keep getting better. Reid and Brooklyn are my particular catnip. Nerd (Blerd!) Girl, gorgeous guy, each finding themselves by getting to know the other. Dreamy romance. I loved it. You could probably read this as a stand alone, but why deny yourself the pleasure of meeting all the Holmes family. I hate cliff hangers, and this definitely has some cliff hanger aspects, but the HEA is so satisfying that I didn't let that bother me. I've already one clicked the next!

Reid and Brooklyn

Bravo Farrah. You really captured the emotional rollercoaster of Reid and Brooklyn's inner demons. Yet, allow the storyline to unfold were it was heartfelt to see them support each other's misgivings. Alex was a great supporting character because his compassionate side and ability to support others spoke volumes. The epilogue was sad and I look forward to what is to come for Willow. As she was the anchor for so long to Reid's happiness.

Good Read

This story was slow at times, but was a good read. I liked the couple together. The start of the story had me ready, but I was let down a little when the couple didn't play hide and seek until 80.5% into the story. Reid was compassionate and all, I was expecting a bit more romance between him and Brooklyn. Overall, the main story and the back story was nicely done. 4.5 Stars....

Blerds (Black nerds) get the victory!

Farrah Rochon has done it again. This time, in Awaken Me, she writes a story to which most all kinda cute, average women can relate. Brooklyn, a black comic-loving nerd, meets Reid, the Holmes family charmer. Awaken Me proves girls like her do get hunks like him as readers like us get to delight in this story about finding love while facing one's fears and pursuing one's dreams.

Gotta love those Holmes Men!

Readers just have to love these Holmes men! Reid, the baby cousin, has always played it safe in work, but reckless in life. When he nears an age milestone he realizes he needs a change. Into his life walks Brooklyn, a new manager for his cousins construction company. As they become close they realize how much they have in common and how they both need to take a chance on life.

Love is Trust

I'm glad that I decided to read the love stories of the Holmes cousins. Farrah, you have shown that love is trust, these two young lovers were new to the strong emotion of love, but they learned that love and trust walk hand-in-hand. They crossed the line, but they conquered and best the distrust with their love for each other and from their families. I love this story.

Excellent saga about growth , love and confidence of the two protagonists in an unusually supportive environment

I would recommend this to anyone who is considering a career change, who feels restricted by responsibilities or insecurities. The major obstacles they faced were self doubt.

Reid and Brooklyn

Absolutely loved this installmentioned of the Holmes family. Reid finally really grows up and takes responsibility. His amazing "coming of age" was a great read. Bother he and Brooklyn had a lot of growing to do and resolving their issues. Look forward to Harrison and Willow being successful in resolving their problems.

The baby brother.

Reid and Brooklyn's story was enjoyable. Their romanace was well developed. The playa Reid wanted to change his ways after he was unable to remember his woman's name the morning after. He wanted to change as he was about to turn 30. Brooklyn had a crush on Reid and Reid was taken by her . A friendship develops, then love. A good story.

Conquering Fear

Reid and Brooklyn were the mirror images of each other. They both feared stepping out of the box. Together, they conquered the fear that was holding them back from a future they both wanted. Sometimes you just have to step out on faith. I really enjoyed Awaken Me.
