Trapped in a holiday cabin with his extremely pretty, kind, patient PA isn’t the way Grant expected to spend Christmas Eve, but with Sunny warming up the cabin, his heart, and other things, it’s hard to be mad about all the snow on the roof.
He knows better than to get involved with a much younger man, but Sunny has been so kind and patient with him, and their feelings for each other are clearly mutual.
But with his pre-teen daughter about to show up for what he’s promised will be the most magical Christmas ever, how can he protect his fragile relationship with Sunny while making sure he fulfills his promise to Hope?
And how will the rest of the family react when they find out?
Can Grant find a way to keep everyone he loves close? Or will he have to choose between his past and his future?
Snow on the Roof is a gay romance with a HEA ending, and it does not contain a cliffhanger. It does, however, contain: a shirt of indeterminate color, an impossible request, glitter nail polish, a snowball fight, explicit sex scenes, and a Christmas miracle or two.
Sean Ashcroft likes rainy days, white hot chocolates (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!) and boys kissing in books. He currently resides in Australia, all the way down at the bottom of the mainland in a sleepy little seaside town.
He writes sweet, hot books about sweet, hot boys who absolutely deserve each other.
"There may be snow on the roof, but there's a fire in the furnace."
*** Silver fox, Grant, 42, has a daughter, Hope, he doesn't see enough. He moved for work, where he's got little time for himself, and he realizes he needs a PA.
Sunny, 27, applies and impresses immediately. To top it off he's beautiful, and smiles bright like the sun.
Through Thanksgiving and Christmas, Grant needs more help than ever, to be sure Hope has a fantastic holiday. Sunnny makes it happen, and along the way, brings Grant happiness he's never known. This story is a bit of a fairy tale, but I loved it. Low angst, fun, sexy and romantic, this one is just fabulous.
The characters are well done, each bringing so much to the story. Your icicles will melt, and warm your Christmassy hearts. Loved it ! Great epilogue. ENJOY ! =============
4.25⭐️ This was totally schmoopy and over the top adorable, and I enjoyed every moment. Sean Ashcroft always lays the romance and warm, cuddly feelings on thick but in a way that never feels icky or uncomfortable or awkward. Just delightful. I love the boss/employee dynamic and this one stood out as original because the boss here was actually the timid, insecure sweetheart instead of the gruff jerk we’re used to getting. It was a refreshing change that added just a hint of angst.
It had a really strong start, and it sagged a little around the middle/end, but it had enough momentum to carry it through. If you're looking for fluffy holiday-ness this is definitely it.
Actually giving this 4.5 stars, it would have gotten the full 5 but it qwas just a tinsey bit insta-lovey. Other than that tiny complaint this book was a joyful read, filled with lots of Christmas cheer and love. Although I totally get Sunny not wanting to spend Christmas with his apathetic (his description not mine) parents, especially considering they named him Sunshine. I mean what were they smoking when they chose his name... nice to see he worked with what he was given and owned it totally. Grant is like the perfect BF, totally adorable, hot as heck and sweet as anything. Also liked the way Grant's ex, his daughter and his ex's new husband were worked so well into the whole story. Just a very fun, angst-free delightful read!
I love Sunny!!!!! And Grant is such a sweetheart!!! I don’t know what else to say except, the two of them made me smile and chuckle and feel so warm and cozy! Lol...
This age gap romance between a boss and his PA hit just right for a holiday read . Fluffy , sweet and steamy with a precious epilogue that left me with a huge smile on my face.
Maybe being trapped in a cabin together wasn’t so bad....
Grant want to make his daughter, Hope, happy on this Christmas after failed to be at his daughter side on the Thanksgiving. All because he’d been so buried under work and totally forgot to booked flight ticket.
Didn't want to make the same mistake and disappointed his beloved daughter again, Grant then hired a PA to make his life more 'tidy' and 'arranged'.
When Sunny come to his doorstep and replying as his new PA, Grant mesmerized by this young guy instantly.
After married for years to his wife now-turn-bestfriend and blessed with adorable daughter, Grant finally have courage to ended the marriage and be true to himself as a gay man.
When Sunny come to his life, he can't denied that Sunny had made him feels like I can 'breathe' again. Like a sunshine, Sunny had brighten his boring life with his presence. But with sixteen years age difference, will it possible for Grant to finally find his happiness?
❄❄❄
Sunny need a job. When his roommate, Clare, offer him a job as a PA to one of the upper management guys. How can he say no?
When Sunny meet Grant for the first time, he just 'knew' that this man really 'need' him.
Grant need a PA to make his life more manageable and Sunny have this 'need' to always taking care of someone.
When Grant need his help to prepare a perfect 'White Snowy Christmas' holiday with his daughter, he then booked a cabin and start to arrange the best Christmas holiday for Hope.
Everything went perfectly well until they both being trapped in the cabin, alone, because the weather turned bad and make Hope flight got delayed.
Alone in cold winter night, how can they denied the desire that already build among them?
This is another short and sweet holidays romance to add to your list. It's fun, sweet and heartwarming. Grant's with his twink fetish and Sunny's with his older-man-with-gray-hair fetish are really something. They are both match made by heaven.
This is an office romance/Christmas story about a nearly middle-aged executive falling for his much younger personal assistant. Both heroes are all kinds of sweet and adorable but in very different places in life. Grant is overwhelmed with his new job and new life in New York far away from his ex-wife and daughter in California. He hires Sunny, who absolutely lives up to his name, to help him organize both his home and work life. There’s a bit of slow burn as the men dance around one another knowing the feelings they are each developing are ill-advised at best.
You’ll find everything you could possibly want in a Christmas romance. It had heartwarming feels, sexual tension, a blizzard, a cute kid, a supportive group of secondary characters and not a villain in sight.
“Why not 5-Hearts?” you ask. Mostly because there weren’t any surprises and entire conflict in the book boils down to the aforementioned sexual tension and a Big Misunderstanding. They were both caught up in creating a self-fulfilling prophecy believing that they were doing the best thing for the other by letting them go. I’m pretty sure I actually yelled at them to get their shit together and talk to one another.
The cover is okay. Nothing particularly good or bad, except the crudely photoshopped grey hair on the model. It’s a decent cover otherwise, especially for a self-pubbed book.
Cute. Sweet. Full of fluff and holiday goodness with plenty of love to go around. It was a feel good book with enough going for it to keep you going, but not quite enough to make it amazing.
Both men in this are wonderful and they fit well together and deserve the caring they give. Grant lives his family and gives his all at work but seems to think a relationship has passed him by at his age. Sunny wants a relationship that means something more, someone he can care for and give all his love to, but finds men his age too immature to want that. Together they just work so well, but each is a bit insecure about being together. Grant thinks himself too old and too needy. Sunny sees a family that he would be an interloper in and worries about never having a place. Each man works to show they other that their fears are unsubstantiated which was sweet.
The love that exists between everyone making up this little family was wonderful and you leave the book with a warm and happy feeling. This is a great feel good holiday book with all the fluff and a nice bit of heat!
Oh, I just loved this Christmas story. I thought Sunny was sweet, caring, thoughtful and so efficient (like seriously good PA skills). I liked how their relationship was pretty quickly, but I didn’t think it felt rushed or implausible. Both men clearly knew what they wanted and were willing to go for it. I really liked Grant’s relationship with his daughter and ex-wife and he’s such a steadfast, loyal man. I love it when the couple get trapped, and by snow, makes it even better. It was a nice pace, sweet, sexy and hot all in one story. I would definitely recommend this story and it’s my favourite book by Sean Ashcroft so far.
Mostly fun, quick holiday read; love at first sight
3.75. I confess to skimming over quite a few pages, toward the end, of the MCs' self-introspection and hand-wringing. I'm not a fan of the only conflict being the MCs not talking to each other; however, I may have been more impatient than usual today to get to the happy ending. 😀
I liked both MCs as well as the premise, and just enjoyed it for what it is: a short Christmas-themed, love at first sight novella, with an epilogue. I love epilogues set in the happily couple's future.💛
This was a super sweet book about two beautiful and sensitive men that need each other to shine their brightest. Sunny gives Grant the structure and organization he needs and Grant gives Sunny the soft tenderness he has always wanted and needed in a partner. I really liked the close relationship between Grant and Julia. Even though they are divorced and she has remarried, they have remained best friends and formed a great little family unit with their daughter Hope and the new stepdad Joon. If only all couples could do that.
This was absolutely delightful! I loved both Grant and Sunny and their relationship!
Grant was a bit of a mess - I just wanted to give him a hug. He deserves nice things and Sunny is so sweet and fun and free spirited and he brings so many good things into Grant's life.
My only complaint is that I think it could have benefited from them knowing each other longer - I found the time frame was actually quite short and it could have been a stronger story if their relationship had taken a little longer to develop.
For some reason this didn't work for me from the start. I couldn't warm up to the characters, I felt that the family dynamics were strange (which asshole comes out of the closet weeks after having a baby with someone and secretly lusts after his ex's husband and the ex is just fine with it all?) and I couldn't feel the chemistry at all. I'm used to Sean's books being cute and easy, but here it just didn't click with me at all.
A wonderful story that I absolutely loved and thoroughly enjoyed. Great storyline that is very well written and developed. Grant and Sunny are wonderful characters who are perfect together. They have incredible chemistry and great sex scenes. The secondary characters were spectacular. Looking forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
What I wouldn’t give to have my very own Sunny! Life would be so much more joyful (not to mention easier)!! There was so much Christmas cheer packed into this little story that it helped put the “Merry” in my Christmas. I loved how much Grant appreciated Sunny and I love that the title of the book represented something different than what I initially assumed. Lovely!
I found myself skipping a lot of this book and just reading the quotes and that was enough for me to understand what was going on. For me it was repetitive. I got how they weren't sure what the other was feeling and the fears if they started a relationship. I liked the concept of the book just wasn't into the writing of it as much.
A wonderful Christmas story about an expended family. A stressed job brings a PA in his life that he almost immediately is falling in love with. A Winter wonderland Christmas brings love, laughter and happy ever after
A very enjoyable, fluffy holiday-themed romance between an older gentleman and a younger man. If you’re looking for a quick, light-hearted read to get you in the holiday mood (and maybe other moods...it was quite sexy), look no further.
Even when there’s snow on the roof outside. I love instant love that’s fought for. It’s so refreshing when the characters don’t stalk off and pout for weeks and go after what they want. Really a cute tale.
Extremely well written. While the first sex takes place at the half way point, the switching viewpoint of thoughts and doubts follows. And is so real that it's hard to put the e-reader down. The epilog had happy tears rolling down my cheeks.
Hmm this was okay, honestly i read past a majority of this. I wasn’t a fan of the writing, i felt like things were repeated for no reason. The daughter came off younger than she was which annoyed me. I also didn’t feel the love between these two men. It was a cute story... but not for me.
I liked "Snow on the Roof". It was a gentle happy tale with very little sizzle or angst, though there was a healthy dose of doubting Thomas. Not exciting or soul jarring in the least, but still worth the read. Enjoy!
I really don't know why this one didn't work for me. It had all the elements of a really sweet Holiday love story but I was just never able to connect.
I think this was one of those "it must be me not the story"
Sunny and Grant's story was a sweet one, filled with fun, romance and longing. Two people, lonely, complete each other nicely. Getting snowed in together was so cool.
