Celestine Sibley's book was just wonderful in a simple way, a fireside book that warms the soul. I will read more and more by her and right now I am reading "A Place Called Sweet Apple," and for Christmas I will read, "Christmas in Georgia."
She was a columnist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for over 50 years and has written over 20 books, but not all are like these that I am reading. I am ordering used copies since they are all out of print.
Update: I didn’t like most of her other books, that is, those that I have not mentioned already in this review.

I'll liked a couple of her books, so I picked this up at the thrift store when I saw it. A sweet collection of essays.

I really enjoyed this book..the author's memories of growing up in the South brought back fond memories of my own Southern childhood days..and made me remember with fondness my dear grandmother and great-grandmother..I love the slow and gentle Southern ways of those days years ago. Some of the stories in this book were touching and brought a tear to my eyes. This is a heartwarming book about the simple joys and blessings in life - from garden plants (even weeds) to loving family and friends..

Loved these reflective essays. I miss her column in the paper. This is one I'd like to own to read again when in need of a pick me up.
