With the knowledge and blessing of Warren Buffett himself, Robert Bloch has assembled a gold mine of Buffett's most unforgettable quotes. Bloch, the son of Henry Bloch who co-founded H&R Block, has been an avid investor his whole life. My Warren Buffett Bible was one of just a few titles offered for sale to shareholders at the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting. "For the investor, the business owner, the intelligent man or woman of any employment or occupation, I cannot imagine a more useful book. This is a shining, brilliant star of advice and insights from a genuinely great man, Warren E. Buffett. You cannot afford NOT to buy this book." -Ben Stein, New York Times bestselling author and economist "A must-read for Americans of all ages and professions...brings Warren Buffett's commonsense wisdom together in one book. I could not put it down!" -John G. Stumpf, chairman and CEO of Wells Fargo & Company "Congratulations on this great achievement!" -Michael R. Bloomberg, founder and CEO of Bloomberg L.P. and 108th Mayor of New York City If the legendary Warren Buffett was willing to tell you the inside secrets that made him the world's most successful investor, would you be interested? If you knew how simple, basic and powerful his wisdom is, you'd probably say "yes!" Beyond the financial benefits, the author shares a side of Buffett that is incredibly human, optimistic and loaded with musings that will enrich every aspect of your life. Warren Buffett turned Berkshire Hathaway from a struggling small textile business into the fifth-largest public company in the world, valued at nearly $350 billion. The Oracle of Omaha is well known for his timeless and invaluable principles regarding investing and finances. Countless people looking to be smarter with their money and investments have turned to Buffett for his advice. One of those people is Robert Bloch, son of the cofounder of the tax preparation company H&R Block. This book contains nearly three hundred quotes that Bloch has personally found to be indispensable to financial success. With the written blessing of Buffett himself, Bloch has selected the best of Buffett's wisdom that will guide you to be a more successful and disciplined long-term investor.
I like to go for cinches. I like to shoot fish in a barrel. But I like to do it after the water has run out.
The fact that people will be full of greed, fear or folly is predictable. The sequence is not predictable When people get fearful, they get fearful en masse. Confidence comes back one at a time. When they get greedy, they get greedy en masse.
The best thing that happens to us is when a great company gets into temporary trouble...We want to buy them when they're on the operating table.
If you buy things you don't need, soon you will have to sell things you need
Rule number 1: Never lose money. Rule number 2: Don't forget rule number 1.
Robert Bloch with a written blessing of Warren Buffett, has compiled a collection of business quotes and advice which will guide one to be disciplined and rational investor. Buffett, who has had a remarkable career, an experience of over 70 years and a net worth of over $80 billion is an intelligent and wise man. Wonderful review of investment strategy from the words of the master.
As usual the amount of wisdom is staggering and seemingly counter intuitive taking the irrational emphasis of the market towards growth. Following the advice everyone has the potential to be wealthy.
You’ll read the entire thing in a half hour, but the lessons in it are invaluable. If you trade stock, grab this at a discount somewhere and print our your favorite quotes and post them in your office so you remember.
These are wise ideas of a person with 70 years of experience and it shows this. I sometimes read it religiously like a Bible. It kind of got Warren Buffett's personality out.
Timeless principles on Rational Investing and Life shared by the Oracle of Omaha. Usually I take days if not months to read a book, finished this one in just one sitting. Some of the quotes from this book that are still on my mind are: The analogy where Buffet compares investing to buying a farmland. You are supposed to focus on what the land will produce than the everyday value of the land. This hit close to going super long on sound businesses.
And a quote I managed to copy "John Maynard Keynes essentially said, Don’t try to figure out what the market is doing. Figure out a business you understand, and concentrate."
I am a follower of WB and his teachings. This book is a great start for people who are interested in exploring his investment philosophy. Those who are seasoned with Warren’s thinking, this book is a good refresher. Book touches Warren’s thoughts on investing, life, American economy through many of his quotes. Book is very easy to follow. Author shares a little context about the quote wherever necessary.
Thank you, Robert Bloch for digging out these trenchant quotations from Warren Buffett's remarks. I have your book four stars only because I would like to reorder the quotations by subject, e.g., investing advice, investment ideas, advice for living. Or something like those. My favorite remarks advise readers to still and relax and read.
Generation next should think about compounding for long term and spend the leftover after saving. very wise note spend 6 per weeks researching about stocks or directly invest in s&p500. Loved it
A good book however it's not something that's really going to change your life. Nice quick, easy read with some great quotes which are as applicable to life as it is to investing.
Anyone who wants to play with the legal online casino known as the Stock Market should read this first. Wish I did 25 years ago, I’d be much the wiser and certainly wealthier!
You get a great dose of wisdom from the oracle of Omaha. You can almost feel the grandfatherly wisdom and smirk come across as he shares his simple value based investment philosophy.
A fun and thought-provoking list of Warren Buffett's smart and insightful observations, not a trove of investing advice. Buy index funds, and be skeptical of all who advise otherwise, is the central investing message.
This is a book with a lot of short sayings and pieces of advice. It will be a book I periodically pick up and flip through to get some stable advice from one of the greatest investors of the modern era. Not a must read, but a book full of easy, useful quotes.
