Kristy Robinett (Livonia, MI) is a psychic medium and author who began seeing spirits at the age of three. When she was eight, the spirit of her deceased grandfather helped her escape from a would-be kidnapper, and it was then that Robinett realized the Other Side wasn't so far away. As an adult, she was often called upon by the local police department to examine cold cases in a new light and from a different angle. She gained a solid reputation for being extremely accurate at psychical profiling and giving new perspectives on unsolved crimes. It was then that she began working with a variety of law enforcement agencies, attorneys and private investigators around the United States, aiding in missing persons, arson, and cold cases. Her psychic detective work was recognized in a new series on the ID Network, Restless Souls.

Robinett teaches psychic development and paranormal investigating at local colleges, lectures across the country and is a regular media commentator and has been spotlighted on Coast to Coast, Darkness Radio, ABC News, Fox News and the Ricki Lake Show. She is the author of Forevermore: Guided in Spirit by Edgar Allan Poe; Messenger Between Worlds: True Stories from a Psychic Medium; Higher Intuitions Oracle; Ghosts of Southeast Michigan; and Michigan's Haunted Legends and Lore. It seems apropos that I should finish a book on the afterlife right on the cusp of the season most associated with thoughts of the other side-- on a cool, cloudy day just before the autumnal equinox.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Kristy Robinett, a Michigan psychic/medium who counsels both the living and departed following a physical death.
I discovered Robinett on the Paranormal Podcast, where she gave an interview that touched on several of the fascinating stories in the book. I was enthralled listening to the show, and I bought this book right away after listening.
It was a good buy: right as I started reading the first page, I was hooked. Robinett's stories and her keen perception of human energy -- whether from the living or dead -- seems incredibly believable. If it's not, she is an exceptionally talented fiction writer.
But, I highly recommend this book to anyone -- including, and maybe most especially, to nonbelievers and skeptics -- who is curious about what happens during and after death, and what becomes of the emotional and spiritual ties to loved ones on either side of the veil.
Robinett's experiences are touching, sometimes terrifying and always mind-blowing.
Her insight into connections to loved ones across time and space come as a surprise much of the time, but also make a certain amount of sense. Much of Robinett's stories are of serving as a counselor and helping both the living continue their lives and the departed progress their own work in the afterlife. And yes, there's work -- plenty of it, as people cross into paradise (who knew?!)
Reading about her interactions with clients and her impromptu meet-ups with spirits (which happen to her pretty often), I felt a sense of peace and comfort, so I can only imagine all the good she's done in her career.
Her stories will make you question what you believe or thought you knew, but anyone who reads this will come away with a new feeling of appreciation for what it means to be alive, and how consciousness transcends what we often think of as psychic barriers.
A great read for the Halloween season.

It was interesting and comforting to hear the author’s stories of connecting people with their lost loved ones, helping sorrowful spirits cross over, and her impressions of what life on the other side is like. It was particularly interesting to me since the author is from my home state and referenced many places and events I am familiar with. However, I am still rather skeptical, especially since she seemed to receive information on the exact names, appearances, and events of deceased people—and that’s a pretty rare gift, even among psychic mediums, to get so much information! It made me wonder how much embellishment was going on here… Still, quite fascinating.
