Six friends. One stranger. Plenty of murder and mayhem....

“We’re going to isolated woods to contact aliens. What could go wrong?”

Six friends head off to Green Bank, West Virginia in search of footage for their Aliens R Us web series. Green Bank is a town known for its telescope and satellite that purportedly receives signals from extraterrestrial beings. Alta is the leader of the group and co-host of the show. Her best friend, Johanna, is the co-host. Boyfriend, Kendrick shoots the video and his brother, Eugene is in charge of the research. Two others, Declan, who is in charge of sound, and his girlfriend, Natalie, are there as well. They are supposed to be meeting up with a man named Grayson, the camp counselor at kids summer camp where the crew will be filming.

There's tension right from the start, between various characters, including Grayson. And then Johanna gets sick. Upset stomach? Food poisoning? It isn't long before the friends realize that there's a killer amidst the group. But who can it be?

With plenty of motives, including fraud, infidelity, betrayal and jealousy, the killer could be a number of people, and you'll surely suspect each of them at one point or another. But will you figure out who the killer actually is? I didn't!

This is a great, thoroughly engrossing story that I highly recommend to all.

Green Bank, WV. Alta & her group friends: Kendrick (Alta’s BF, Eugene’s brother), Johanna (Alta’s BFF, Declan’s GF), Natalie, Eugene (Kendrick’s brother), & Declan are filming footage for their community college project.
It is titled; Aliens R Us web series.
Green Bank summer camp (Sherman Woods). Grayson (camp counselor) greeted the happy-go-lucky entourage.
Later; what happened to Johanna?
What did Declan reveal to Alta?

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written horror book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great horror movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV. It wasn’t as terrifying as I like them so I will only rate it at 4/5 stars.

More youngsters arrange to spend a weekend at a cabin in the woods - I think this is my favourite horror setting. Those drafty panels and rickety door can easily be kicked in. There is nowhere to hide. This story has a great premise, Alta and her friends are filming for an internet show called Aliens R Us. When you start reading you think that it must be about aliens, it would be believable if someone was abducted, wouldn't it? Or is it about aliens? Well, staying in a confined place for a weekend, inevitably these young humans argue and turn against one another. What follows, I can't tell you but trust me, it is twisty and gruesome - there is fire and everything. When a book is just as scary as someone making you jump when you're watching a horror movie, then it gets five stars from me, a firm favourite.

Fantastic, fast-paced thriller. It reminded me of all the Jason horror movies I grew up with. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. Can't wait to read Yawatta's other books!

Six Plus One is the sequel to One By One which I read recently.

Six friends go to an out of the way campsite to make a film about aliens. They are from the town of Voy, where last year there was a brutal slaying of a group of friends at an isolated cabin. One of the group, Alta, is the daughter of the detective who caught the case. She is with her boyfriend, Kendrick, his brother Eugene, Eugene's girl friend, Natalie, the sound recordist for the team, Declan and Alta's best friend Johanna. The only other person on site is Grayson, the camp counsellor who had agreed to stay and help the film crew after the camp had closed for the season.

It was only a matter of time before the bodies started to drop, and with no way to contact the outside world, the group is at the mercy of the killer.

I enjoyed Six Plus One . It held my attention and had me guessing at the killer's identity from the first death. With each death I changed my mind, but kept going back to my first thought. What shocked me most was the killer's motive for all the killings, and how meticulously it had all been planned in advance.

A gripping short story that will keep you up at night!

This story is a twisted tale, indeed - a modern classic Who's Guilty with touches of the supernatural. A group of friends in the woods, coupled with a cautionary tale of a prior set of murders, set the stage for the mayhem to come. So many motives, so little trust of each other... One of my favorite characters was the resilient Alta, who maintains her cool and her sanity in the face of terror and the ultimate betrayal. By the last part of the book, you keep trying to guess the ending, which was totally unpredictable. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I won't reveal any more. Read it yourself and find out just how good this gem of a story is!
