A Christmas Duet

Rate this book
A little bit naughty, a little bit nice…two tales of love and music and all the wonder of Christmas.

Please Have Snow

All curvaceous bartender Lily Barton wants for Christmas is a home to call her own. For Will Canter, the rugged, bad boy drummer of Sliding Violet, home is wherever the music—and the band’s tour bus—takes him. Can love, and a little holiday magic, bring them both exactly what they want?

Joyfully Yours

Not much is going right for musician Faith Leary so it shouldn’t surprise her when the priest she got caught ogling in the grocery store turns up at her mother’s for Thanksgiving dinner. What does come as a surprise is the attraction that springs up between them. If only he weren’t a priest, he would be perfect for her.

She’s thrilled when it turns out Michael is not exactly what he seems, right up until she realizes her sister is a far better match for him than her she could ever be. But if that’s true, why does Michael insist on seeing only the good in Faith, no matter how often she falls short of her too perfect sister?

I was lucky enough to win an e-copy of this on Facebook and was intrigued enough to start reading straight away.

The first story, Joyfully Yours, is a delightful, sweet, festive romance. Faith Leary is a talented musician but struggling to make ends meet or for her family to see her music as anything more than a hobby. Whilst desperately trying to get some shopping for her Mum’s Thanksgiving meal, she is helped by an attractive man but is shocked when she realises he’s a priest. The attraction is mutual but family dynamics, surprise voluntary work and sibling rivalry will all play a part in this ‘clean’ romance with well crafted characters and plenty of warm-hearted encounters.

The second story, Please Have Snow, also involves a musician - but this time it is the hero, Will Canter, who is the well known guitarist with a successful rock band, Sliding Violet. Whilst at a party in a friend’s penthouse apartment, he meets Lily Barton who is helping out by working as a bartender for the party. The chemistry between them is instantaneous but she has trust issues and he’s more used to life as a rolling stone, never settling or putting down roots anywhere. With very different upbringings contributing to their different attitudes to life and living, can they overcome their differences to make sweet music in their happy ever after? This is a steamy romance with plenty of angst and turmoil as the two face their own past experiences before moving on to look forward to their future.

Both stories work well as standalone reads though I understand that Please Have Snow links to some of the author’s other stories from her ‘Holiday Encounters’ series but I haven’t read any of those and still thoroughly enjoyed this one. The stories are both well crafted, enjoyable reads, just right for getting you into the festive mood. I didn’t want to put either of the stories down until I’d finished them and suspect they are both excellent examples of this talented author’s skills in taking the reader into the story and having empathetic characters it is easy to relate to. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this duet to anyone looking for two different but both lovely, contemporary, festive romances to escape into!

A Christmas Duet offers two contemporary tales of holiday romance from Amy Lamont, both including music and Christmas. Both the stories – Joyfully Yours and Please Have Snow – are quick but enjoyable reads.

Joyfully Yours is a short and sweet read, one that will leave you with a wide smile on your face. It’s a standalone novella, the shorter of the two, but it is certainly a wonderful example of what Amy Lamont can do.

Please Have Snow is a slightly longer read, and is the steamier of the two stories. It links in with one of the books from Amy Lamont’s Holiday Encounters series, but it can be read perfectly fine as a standalone novel. I’m not up to date with the Holiday Encounters series (I downloaded the last two to read, but have yet to get around to reading them), and found the story was perfectly enjoyable without having read the entire series. It’s nice for fans of the series to get the insight into another character, and to get a little look at the characters from the main series, but you can certainly enjoy Please Have Snow as a standalone novel.

Both are great reads, and will leave you falling in love with the characters. Throughout both, I ended up with a huge smile on my face, loving the way the stories played out. In two unrelated short stories, Amy Lamont manages to pull you into the relationships of the characters and leaves you wanting more. Wanting more in the best way, of course – wanting more because you have fallen in love with the characters, and would love to see their stories played out in a longer book.

Without a doubt, A Christmas Duet provides two quick fun reads, perfect for anyone looking for enjoyable Christmas romance stories.

rcvd an advanced reader copy from teh author for giving my two cents. we meet Lily, dressed in a sleazy santa outfit ready to bartend an extravagant party filled with celebs. then we meet Will, hot shot guitar god with the hottest band in the planet. he is at his buds Jared party and wondering why he didnt go south. jared is talking to him about meeting the one and will is skeptical until he notices the blue eyed darked haired beauty handing out drinks. will is immediately smitten...now he knows what jared meant. lily asks the next person their drink of choice when she looks up into Will's eyes...holy smokes fangirl moment. she is frazzled but then starts to tease him about hooking up and adopting kids and pets. thank god will played along. after nearly breaking her ankle, will wisks lily away. a night of passion turns into weeks of outings, home cooked meals, watching tv, music and of course sex. lily is waiting for the next shoe to drop so to speak. she is trying to come to terms with will leaving after xmas and their time gone. will surprises lily with a xmas tree and decorations for her place and decides to show him her dream. they venture out of town to a small cottage and lily shows will her dream or about to be her dream. will cant do it. he cant put roots down and tells lily that. he then leaves. lily is heart broken. will lily get over will or get him back? does will reconsider what he did to lily? can they make it work?

we meet faith, a singer, who is at the grocery bc her mother wants cranberry sauce for supper...go figure. she needs to her paycheck but cant stand the look on her moms face when she doesnt bring it. when she goes to pay, she is trying to find change but then the gentleman behind her offers to pay. she looks up and wow!! then notices the white collar...damn...cant happen. she then goes to her moms where her brother whisks her into the loo to say mom has a guest and hes hawt! of course her brother would say that. when she is introduced, it is none other than the sexy priest Michael. Of course when her perfect sister shows up and flirts up a storm jealousy rears its ugly head but hten remembers hes a priest. next thing faith knows is that her mother volunteers them for helping out at church next wkend...just great! its bad enough her mother and sister think shes a joke why not flaunt it in front of michael. the following wkend, faith is put to work helping the children and is loving every minute of it. then michael asks faith to lead teh music at the next saturday sermon. michael is blown away by faith. her sister basically tells her that there is no way michael would like a woman like her...a singer and a temp job worker! well then...faith says that she has no interest in dating a priest...and didnt realize michael was behind her....double damn. days later faith takes coffee to micheal as a peace offering needing to apologize and explain to him the comment she made to her sister. will michael believe faith? will faith have faith in herself?

Both of the stories were a great holiday reads!

4 solid stars for each of them!

1. JOYFULLY YOURS:

It was quite unique read with a priest in it as a love interest for heroine it was bit strange to imagine myself in her place to be in love with a priest but it was sweet and funny and Michael was not a typical priest! Lol

Priest... priest... priest...

Lol poor thing how many times she was doing her best not to have naughty thoughts about priest but she just couldn't help herself!

It was a short but cute read!

2. PLEASE HAVE SNOW:

Insta-Love short holiday romance!

Sexy and famous rock star was on a look out for a hook up but determined for it to stay only that all changes after one look at sexy and funny bartender! It was cute and one of those too perfect to be true romances until both lovers find out that they have different life goals... What will they do? Choose love or follow their dreams or maybe both?

It was a short holiday love story even though through his perfection at one point he managed to upset me even more than the heroine he definitely redeemed himself!!

Both reads were perfect for quick not only holiday read! What surprised me was the sexual difference between those two - reading at first the Joyfully Yours which was a cute but very very mellow read I was prepared to get same thing from the second story but it was nice and spicy much spicier that I thought but still good for people who don't like much of sex!

Two short reads for the holidays.
I received an arc copy for my honest review.

Joyfully Yours
I know I have and everyone else at one time or another has had someone look down on them and make them feel that they are nothing. We have Faith who she can do nothing right for her mother or sister. She meets Father Michael when he offers to help pay for her items. When she gets home he had been invited to dinner by her mother. When she gets roped into helping at his church, she can't help but want more with him. Can she have relationship with him? Will he look down on her for being a singer and barely making ends meet? What problems with her sister and mother make for her to go for her dreams with him?

Please Have Snow
I don't know where the Tile "Please Have Snow" comes in, besides it being cold and snowy outside and the story taking place mostly inside. Lilly is bartending for a party that Will is invited to by his band member. Will does not believe you can fall for a girl as soon as you see her like is band members have. He sees Lilly and now its like OMG I know what they felt now. They have a great time together for awhile, but when Will has to go back to touring with his band and Lilly lets him know her dream can they still stay together? Will his always wanting to be on the road be accepted by Lilly? Will Lilly's dream of a real home stop Will from staying with her? Oh gosh did I mention I cried a few times and laughed.

I have been provided with a copy of A Christmas Duet: Two Contemporary Tales of Holiday Romance by the author for an impartial review. This book includes Joyfully Yours and Please Have Snow.

Joyfully Yours

Joyfully Yours is such a cute story. I really enjoyed reading this story it was the first book that I have read by Amy Lamont and it will certainly not be the last. Please Have Snow

I really enjoyed Please Have Snow it was such a great holiday story. I really fell in love with Will and Lily and getting to see them come together and figure out how to be with each other. It was truly beautiful and had me in tears.

Amy Lamont has packaged together two sweet, sassy & sexy novellas. Both are set during the holidays & embody the best of the season. The characters are well defined & three dimensional. I was able to feel a connection with them which is rare for me to establish due to the short nature of novellas. In Joyfully Yours, an unlikely couple come to realize they are perfect for each other. Faith is an aspiring musician beginner no to be disillusioned by her career until Father Michael showed her a new way to utilize her gift. In Please Have Snow, Lily has been focusing on a dream house as a way to set down the roots she never had growing up in the foster system. Will is determined not to settle down with one woman until he catches sight of Lily across the room. What follows is a twist on the Gift of the Magi story. These stories will touch your heart & your emotions!

A Christmas Duet by Amy Lamont is two holiday reads in one. Ms. Lamont has given us two outstanding Christmas stories in one book. This book is well-written and the stories are fairly quick reads, perfect for those with limited reading time. Joyfully Yours is musician Faith and Michael's story. Father Michael, that is. This story is packed with drama, humor and misunderstandings.

Please Have Snow is Lilly and Will's story. Will is a rock star and Lilly is a bartender/artist planning the purchase of her dream home. Their holiday has been jolly since they met. But it's almost time for Will to get back to work. There's plenty of drama, humor and sizzle to keep readers absorbed in this story.

I enjoyed both of these stories and look forward to reading more from Amy Lamont soon. These are full stories, not cliff-hangers.

These were the first stories I read by Amy Lamont and I simply loved them!
The stories are sweet and, although they are holiday stories, they're set in different circumstances.
Both stories are very well written, and the characters very interesting.
Lily and Will are perfect for each other, but their dreams are very different, while Lily wants to take roots down, Will wants to unravel the world with his music. Will they be able to enter into an agreement to live this love?
The story of Faith and Michael begins with forbidden feelings, since Michael is a priest, but is everything exactly as it seems? What will they do with the feelings that have been aroused?
I loved the stories and highly recommend the reading.

Joyfully Yours and Please Have Snow - A Christmas Duet!

Two holiday stories set in different circumstances - one involves a priest and the other a rock star! A romance story involving a priest? Yes and it is VERY funny! And the rock star? Turns out he finds something he wasn't even looking for in a very special woman who, despite her past circumstances, loves the holidays and has dreams of her own. Oh, and did I mention she's VERY funny too?

If you want a little break from the mad rush that surrounds the holidays, these two stories will warm your heart AND MAKE YOU LAUGH!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

These were two good reads. They aren't long stories, but I felt like I didn't miss out on anything because of it. The first story was Michael and Faith. This is a sweet romance, with no steam to the story. They are sweet together, and bring out the best in each other. It had a nice ending. The second story was Will and Lily. This story has steamy scenes, so if that bothers you, be warned. I like my romances with it, so it didn't bother me. This is very much an insta-love kind of story. I thought that Will and Lily were good together, and they were willing to do whatever it took to be together. This is a first for me from this author, but I will be reading her again.

Amy Lamont’s A Christmas Duet is a great couple of beautifully done holiday Season stories that are fun all year-‘round. I’m not sure which I like better, Joyfully Yours, which was much more beautifully done than its premise led me to expect or the wonderful heat of Please Have Snow. The first has a perfect hero in Michael really rescuing it’s heroine, musician Faith Leary. The second is your classic tale of impossible to reach rick star, rockstar drummer Will Canter, who proves to not be all that impossible after all for its heroine Lily Barton. Happily I did t have to decide between the two. I just had to enjoy them, which I most certainly did very much and as now happy to recommend.

A Christmas Duet by Amy Lamont a five-star Duet. These are two stories that are sweet and a little naughty but with a whole lot of heart. Please have snow and Joyfully Yours would put even the Grinch in a holiday mood. There’s some holiday magic and a great story to both Novellas and they are both as strong as each other. If you want a nice holiday read, please pick this up you won’t be disappointed. You don’t even have to worry about the time as you can read one then the next if you have time or get back to your shopping and then read the next.

A Christmas Duet by Amy Lamont is an excellent read. Containing two short, fun and festive holiday tales. Full of charm and realism, these stories really connect with the reader. For anyone that feels that the holidays are about family but also how awkward they can make you feel about yourself or for those that don't have that family home to go back to and are searching for it, the storylines will touch you. One’s all sweet, the other’s extra spicy. Together they’re Christmas magic. Both short stories took me through so many emotions that my heart ached for both couples during their darkest hours, and rejoiced when they found the solutions to their problems. Told with wit, humor, and an extra large dose of sassy this duology has something for everyone to love and enjoy.

Joyfully Yours... Awesome. Loved Father Michael. Faith was perfect just the way she was. It was awesome when she found that others really were proud of her and supported her. Truly loved this story.

Please Have Snow... Too cute. Loved how like was when she met will, even though she was melting inside. The fact that he bantered back made this story rock! Loved when he gave the Evil Elf, as I'll call her, the straight talk and put her in her place.

The first story, Joyfully yours, was really cute. I love the relationship between Faith and Michael. Congrats to the author to create a short story so well done.
For the second story, Please have snow, at first I didn't like it because the whole "love at first sight" and "let's sleep together on the first night" is not my kind of thing. I changed my mind while I read the story and find myself liking the story. It's not as cute as the first one but it's still good.

Two sweet romances. Joyfully yours is Faith Leary and Pastor Michael's story. Faith is a musician that's sort of at a stand still in life until she meets Pastor Michael at the grocery store, and later at her Mothers holiday dinner. It's a short, sweet, clean romance.

The next story is Please Have Snow and has romance and some serious steam between the characters Lily, an artist and odd job worker, and Will Canter a rock musician. Another short, sweet, steamy romance!

This is a cute duet of two novellas.
They both revolve around music and love.
One puts a priest and a girl who feels she isn't good enough. The other is about a guy in a band and a girl saving to buy her dream home. They are both short and sweet.

I enjoyed this duet. They are both HEA's

This was a fun book with two Christmas tales in it! I loved the romance in each and found myself really connecting with the characters. Lamont did well in choosing these two stories to go together in an anthology. I would definitely read more about these characters in other settings!

Enjoyed

The two stories. Quick and funny. Wanted them to continue. The second one was lovely story of reimagined gift of the Maji.
Only thing I wasn’t clear on what happened to her parents, family and why she wasn’t offered for adoption.
