Charlotte York’s life was predetermined at birth. Born the daughter of royal kitchen help, she was bound to serve as handmaiden to the princess. When Charlotte arrived on American soil, nothing was to be different—until it suddenly was. Now, with all the freedoms her new life is offering her, she becomes overly excited at her prospects and makes a wild decision.
Felix Walsh has lived most of his adult life as a nomad—until one day a letter turns his world upside down. Felix must go west to save his brother’s ranch, but he knows he can’t do it alone. In desperation, Felix responds to an ad in a paper, Elizabeth Tandy can find him a mail order bride to help around the ranch. But when he meets the lovely Charlotte York, he can’t seem to follow his own rules.
Impulse and urgency may have brought them together, but will it be enough to keep them together?
What a lovely and slightly bittersweet story Mail Order Maiden turned out to be. We’ve come to know, love and respect Charlotte, she’s been part of these stories from the very beginning as she and Raine made their way to America to start their adventures. She found the most perfect groom for herself, in a rather unusual manner.
I’ve loved these stories and really don’t want to see them end. But I’ll be watching for what comes nest from Sara Jolene. The Clover Lake Grooms series has been full of laughter, tears, danger and chaos but at the base there is unconditional love and that is what makes these couples so much fun to journey with.
I don’t really want to say too much about Mail Order Maiden. I think this story of sadness and happiness is best enjoyed by each reader firsthand. I will say that for a mail order groom, Felix outdid any woman’s expectations… or maybe that would have only happened with Charlotte. I enjoyed this couple very much and would love to discover what awaits them in Arizona… maybe, please? If you love Western Historical Romance then you’d easily get swept up in the stories of Clover Lake Grooms, and I’d highly recommend this story and the entire series.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Hero: Felix-- Heroine: Charlotte Reading Enjoyment:4.5* I enjoyed reading another great Clover Lake story that grabbed me and would not let go until the end. The story progressed steadily has great character development. I am glad Charlotte finally got her happily ever after! This creative story, that made me laughed, sighed in contentment, and a very happy and satisfying HEA until the last 2 sentence's of the epilogue a bit of a cliffhanger. Even that said It still worth 5 stars. I am hoping that means another story real soon!
Well this book have a different ending than the box set of 4 I wish I didn't read that look like someone on purpose put a horrible ending there. But still doesn't explain why he kept thinking something doesn't feel right about his brother death and not even explain more if there wasn't more why his mind just kept going to his brother and saying something is not right. The book feel incomplete and with so much loose ends.
Charlotte is a wonderful friend. She also wants a family. Fate steps in to help he when she least expects it. Felix is ready to commit to take over his brother's ranch. But he is a wanderer. He even thinks about leaving his wife after getting things settled. We all know things don't always go as planned. Really excellent story.
I have read al the Clover Lake Grooms Books. The last one Mail order Maiden brought everything full circle from the time Lorraine and Charlotte arrived in America. It made you laugh, cry and even had a little suspense. The only thing missing was not knowing what happened to Felix's brother. Did love Felix and of course who couldn't love Charlotte, Lorraine and Adele. Enjoy all the stories.
