Presents the life of Charlotte Brontèe, details the plots and criticism of two of her major works, and tells of the influence her works had on literature.
I enjoyed this brief—but not too brief—overview of Charlotte Bronte's life, her creative influences, and the restrictions and issues of the world she lived in.
As for the literary analysis, I skipped the bulk of the novel summaries because I hate novel summaries. Since I don't like them to begin with, I'm not sure if these were particularly dry and off-putting or not. The analysis was mostly interesting, though a little one-sided (in praise of Bronte).
This was actually really interesting. Did you know that her two older sisters died when she was little, & then her brother,& two remaining sisters died all within eight months of each other? Thats, like, really sad & depressing. But it was still a really good book.
