Welcome back to Miami, and the wolf pack that fights for justice and love. In THE BLACK WOLF, I've honored a request from readers of my previous books for more stories about that pack and to check in with familiar faces.

So, I've offered here the story of two of the grown offspring of those familiar characters, and they have taken on action-packed lives of their own. These two are unique. Special. And if you've read my book WOLF BORN, you might already have seen what kind of future is in store a vampire-wolf-banshee hybrid female that everyone fears.

In THE BLACK WOLF we also see this when the daughter of that vampire-wolf-banshee hybrid comes out of seclusion and into a city for the first time, where she meets the hunky Weres who guard it.

I hope you'll come along, and that you'll root for Cara and Rafe to find their future together, despite the odds and the vampires that want to keep that from happening.

Cheers, and happy reading.

Not your average werewolf.

This follows the daughter in Wolf Born. However, while both stories are amazing, each stands alone. Cara finds herself following the same path her exceptional mother took. She too was sent to the Miami Pack to learn to assimilate into the human world and other wolves. Cara's first meeting was with the handsome alpha Rafe Laundau, police detective, and son of the pack alpha. Her hosts. He is her protector. However, who is the one needing protection?

The pack is strong with unquestioning loyalty. The alpha, a good leader who earns their trust. Will Cara trust him as well? Rafe quickly determines that Cara is more than a guest. Her assistance fighting the group of vampires is only their beginning.

This story will consume you. The enemies and characters are unique. Clues and changes are produced in interesting scenes that paint a picture and answer many of her questions. With her feelings for Rafe, she has a difficult decision if she should share what she learns.

I enjoyed visiting previous characters, yet was glad for the full descriptions as if in a new story. The relationships were relatable and realistic. I recommend this to romance lovers, PNR lovers, and those who have always wanted to try out the genre. This is a great choice.

The Wolf Moons miniseries has had many fascinating installments, but the latest story is one of the most notable of all. There are a number of cleverly conceived developments, and each event is portrayed in a realistic manner and had me believing every single detail. Linda Thomas-Sundstrom knows how to make her supernatural beings not only convincing but also unique, and many of those featured in this book are definitely one-of-a-kind. From loyal werewolves to determined vampires to other surprising creatures, the storyline surrounding their lives captured my every thought while reading. THE BLACK WOLF is constantly captivating because of innovative ideas.

Although Rafe Laundau is a competent detective for the Miami police department, a part of his personal life remains hidden from those with whom he works or protects. He belongs to a pack of werewolves living in the area, and not letting humans know this fact keeps him from getting very close to them. One night, he senses something strange is happening and goes to investigate. What Rafe discovers is a woman unlike anyone that he has ever known, and he feels mysteriously drawn to Cara Kirk-Killion. After learning she has come to stay with his pack, he contemplates what impact Cara will have on its members, especially him.

I often wonder how Linda Thomas-Sundstrom comes up with some of the more inventive facts in her books, and her writing really shines in THE BLACK WOLF. Whether an event involves possible danger or heartfelt emotions, I was pulled into whatever is taking place and always kept riveted. There is some unanticipated suspense at times, and any threats that arise could become deadly without warning. I thought the balance between daring adventures and conflicted feelings was just right, as I got to enjoy escapades with uncertain outcomes along with watching beloved characters deal with emotional issues. THE BLACK WOLF kept me spellbound during every intriguing situation.

Getting to revisit several beloved Miami Weres was truly awesome for me, but this book could easily be understood without reading the previous release. I remember these wonderful characters being so exceptional, and the next generation is just as extraordinary. Rafe may work with humans, but he is devoted to his pack. When he comes in contact with Cara, their scenes together are electrically charged because of the overwhelming attraction each feels. I was in awe of her at times, as she is so distinctive from most beings about whom I have ever read. As Rafe and Cara navigate through the numerous challenges that occur after they meet, I became more and more immersed in their complicated lives as battles are fought and significant decisions are made.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of the book, and all comments are my honest opinion

I’ve decided to change my name to Kirk-Killion. Not only is that a super-cool last name, that family are legends in their own rights. I get chills just thinking about them. Cara is a complex character and I have a real appreciation for the insight the author is able to offer her readers in getting to know Cara along with the other characters in the book. I really enjoyed seeing some of my favorites pop up in the story! I love the twist on werewolves and vampires. I think it’s refreshing. Then you add another enemy into the mix and you have one heck of a party! Secrets that are kept and then exposed. And an ending that hits you like a lightening bolt!

I picked this up at RWA Nationals. I think, of all the books I perused, the cover on this one wowed me the most. The story inside wowed me also. Enough so I'm willing to go back to the beginning and read them in order. While this was a great stand alone, I think to get the full picture, the previous books are a good idea. I think then I'd get to read a little more story - like the were cops, and the horrible vampires, and the world building which it seems Thomas-Sundstrom is excellent at.

My favorite part, besides the romance, is the family dynamics. I loved who showed up at the last battle.

The dark is strong in you, wolf girl 5 WOLF DESIRES

He wanted not only to protect her, but to possess her. She was drawn to him without knowing why. The male who had been haunting her dreams lately. Did he also feel the heat? They were in some way connected. The sound of one wolf. the wolf’s mating dance. the call of the wild. WHOA! DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?? What a FAN-HOWLING-TASTIC story and then some! Linda has truly outdone herself with this book! I love how unique EVERYTHING is - the characters, the supernatural species, the abilities & powers, even the storylines/story itself! I was intrigued from the very beginning and that only deepened the more I read, pulling me into one smoking hot romance with so many different facets & layers to every bit of story surrounding it! The majestic beauty and power behind some of the lines & scenes didn't just pull me in deeper, they shape-shifted me into Cara, into Rafe, into the story so deeply that I could see, feel, BE Cara and Rafe, truly feeling like I was living the story as them, that it wasn't a story I was reading, but a written version of what I personally lived, experienced! There honestly isn't too many books I have read that have exploded to life in my mind to such detail that I feel like I either really lived it or saw a movie version of it, but this book, The Black Wolf, is one of them!! YES! I abso-furry-lutely love, Love, LOVE it that much! I will even go so far as to say that this is one of Linda's best books that I have ever read!! And that is saying a LOT as I have read & LOVED quite a few of her books over the past couple of years, ever since I discovered her! Linda is one phenomenally talented & exceptionally gifted author! Before I even finished reading the first book of hers that I bought, I knew that she was one of those rare authors that can pull you in so quickly, keep you captivated throughout the entire story, which led to Linda becoming one of my very favorite authors of all-time!!

The Black Wolf is not your average werewolf book. It has a cool menagerie of paranormal creatures including a main character, Cara Kirk-Killion, that is not normal by even werewolf standards. I think that makes her pretty interesting and absolutely full of surprises. I won't give away any of her unique qualities but she's definitely one of the most unique characters I've read about. I wish there would have been a bit more romance between Rafe and Cara but she kept running away from him and leaving him uncertain of her feelings. They got there eventually though and I thought they made a good couple. He's very supportive, protective, and understanding. He's basically a dreamboat! I've heard that this book is related to a storyline from another of this author's books but it can certainly be read as a standalone if you'd like. I know I haven't read the other book and did not feel like I was missing any key components to this story or anything. I would be interested in reading it now though to find out about that backstory that I am oblivious to. Overall a pretty satisfying read. I recommend it to fans of romantic werewolf stories with a twist.

With so many paranormal shifter books out on the market today, it's hard to choose one that's different from the rest. But this is one of those books- it's not about your typical werewolf. We have Rafe Landau and his family a group of true Lycans sworn as law officers to protect their community of Miami FL. And this follows the daughter in the book Wolf Born. However, though that book is also great, this is stand alone. Cara finds herself following the same path that her mother of unusual talents had chosen. Cara Kirk-Killion is a unique hybrid. She too was sent to the Miami Pack to learn to adjust and fit into the human world and other wolves. Cara first meets the handsome alpha Rafe Laundau, police detective, and son of the pack alpha, who are her hosts. This is a great book, full of action and adventure, with definitely interesting characters particularly Rafe and Cara. Check it out for an entertaining read!

This author always it would seem knows how to grab the attention of a reader with the staying power to keep them. In this paranormal feast you get Rafe whom knows there is something different in the air. Cara is one that has you so intrigued that you keep your attention on her and when these two combine in this you are lost to the outside. I like the original on her with this being the spice. The heat that builds between makes you squirm at times. The story carries you along with the danger and the drama interwoven. The history that is sprinkled makes you fully aware of it all. You become so intertwined you become part of the pack yourself. This one is superb with all that is out there being one that when finished happy you selected it.

What do you get when you have a woman with vampire, werewolf, banshee blood, all at the same time, turned loose in Miami? Danger, that's what. Enter Rafe Landau, a werewolf detective with the Miami PD whose family has promised to protect Cara Kirk-Killion, no matter what, and end up with danger on top of danger.

I've read the book this is based on - Wolf Born - and loved that I got to revisit the Landau wolf pack again with other characters. Yes, Black Wolf is a stand-alone book, but I think you'll want to read th other book also as soon as you're done with this one, to see into the past.

Loved this. I'm a fan.

Oh my..this book has a little of everything..Wolves,Vampires, Demons and even Banshees.
The Miami pack has agreed to let Cara come to them to see if she fits in..
Rafe is a wolf shifter and also a Miami police officer.. He has sworn to protect Cara.
Once they meet..woo hoo their sparks fly.
When they discover that is not the only reason she has come..The past has come back to haunt Cara. Can they figure out why she was sent? And who she was sent by?
Great new read by Linda Thomas-Sundstron..
If i could give it more than 5 stars I would.. It has love, danger and some definite heat.
