This is no fairytale… Once I fell in love with a gorgeous boy next door. Years later, he’s back—a total hunk, hot as hell, and bad. So bad. Rude. Cocky. Hard. And I’m dying for a taste.
Jarett was our neighbors’ adopted son. Handsome, strong, quiet, he was my protector, and my friend. Now he’s back, and he’s still gorgeous. Tall, dark and sexy. All man. But he’s a bad guy, moving with a dangerous crowd. So why do I keep winding up in his arms? On his lap. In his bed. I know better than this—I’m better than this. I should stop. Only my heart tells me there’s good inside Jarett. That I could save him. Then again, what happens to gullible girls who climb into bed with the big bad wolf? …Right.

Jo Raven is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, best known for her series Inked Brotherhood and Damage Control. She writes edgy, contemporary New Adult romance with sexy bad boys and strong-willed heroines. She writes about MME fighters and tattoo artists, dark pasts that bleed into the present, loyalty and raw emotion. Add to that breathtaking suspense, super-hot sex scenes and a happy ending, and you have a Jo Raven® story.
The last book i read by jo raven is Caveman. And i was disappointed with that. So when i got my hand on Bad WOlf audiobook, i try to be optimist.
The book indeed deliver all of that jo raven signature story. Broken hero and a heroine to save him. Although the beginning of the story where Jarred proposition Gigi makes me cringe in disgust. However the middle of the book when Jarred shows his vulnarability, i swoon back in.
Needless to say, this book giving me back my fan girling for jo raven.
Bad Wolf was a stand-alone by Jo Raven. Although not my first book by the author, Raven was a recent new author to me.
Garret and Gigi met as teenagers. They had an unusual friendship until Gigi moved away. Fast forward three years and they met again.
Raven quickly highlighted the past before diving into the present. And it began with a mysterious vibe. We knew there were secrets and danger but weren’t privy to the details until the author began to slowly unravel the layers. I admit, I wasn’t a fan of how Garrett treated Gigi in the beginning (and well into the book). I know there was a connection, and I know he pushed her away, but I wasn’t a fan of his method nor did I feel the connection with how he treated her. And it moved slowly. I craved a swifter storyline.
The circumstances were so dire for Garrett that I struggled reading it. I wanted something good. He was so strong, but he let him self be walked on and put down. It was his choice. And not only did I not understand it, I didn’t like it. For both Garrett and Gigi, it was a journey of putting others first when those same others didn’t put them first. Then simultaneously two souls reconnected with a common theme but on opposite sides.
The plot was dark and depressing and just kept getting worse - until it didn’t, kinda sorta. That’s all your getting from me. It ended on a happy note, but unfortunately we didn’t get to dwell on the good. I desired more happiness and good.
In the end, I liked Garrett and where he ended up. He has so much promise that it needs a follow up novella in order to make the more story complete.
If you haven't read the Caveman series by Jo Raven, then don't panic. While this story is loosely connected to it - alright, so Gigi is Merc and Matt's sister; so this is her story and how they ended up where they did at the time of their lives.
It was the kind of story that was dark - well, the background was and is. It's the whole drug/gang scene and this author didn't sugar coat just who can be dragged into the world without a second thought. Gigi, my first impression of her, was the spoiled little girl trying to find her own way in life, only as the story progressed, you saw her vulnerability. Her fears and doubts, and you also saw just how hard she loves. She's the kind of girl that you want and need by your side because she will do everything to protect you, even as small and short as she is.
Jarrett. He surprised me. He was a mystery from the beginning, not too sure what his story really is since he alludes to the fact that his being in the gang isn't the worst thing he's ever done in his life. Needless to say that him, i wanted to know everything there was about him and why he felt the need to keep protecting his brother Sebastian after all the idiotic crap he put him through.
I really enjoyed this story - i liked how it flowed, i liked how the characters were more than what they seemed. And i liked how it was linked to a previous series that i know i'll have to reread just for the benefit of finding out if we get a glimpse of Gigi and Jarrett in there.
This author has so much potential but needs to hire a really good editor ASAP! This is the third book i've read by this author, and I have encountered problems that should have been caught in the editing stages with every single one. Im sorry but I just cant do it anymore! I refuse to pick up another book by Jo Raven until she puts out content that is perfectly edited, easy to read and not confusing AF. She can easily be a 5 star author if she just takes the extra steps and effort to get there.
Jo Raven never fails to twist her readers up with emotion and desires over her trouble bad boys so it was not a surprise to me that I fell so immediately and devastatingly hard for Jarett. Because I had already met Gigi in previous books, I couldn't wait to get to know this girl that is full of sunshine and sass in equal doses and happens to be just what the dark and broody Jarett needs to live a better life and experience love. It wasn't long and I was so enthralled with Bad Wolf and its fictional world full of gangs, deception, unrequited love, and heat! I was entertained while burning up with desire and wrapped up in nail biting suspense from the moment their story began!
Jarett is a guy who has been down on his luck from day one. From the moment he would find a family that would love him, something bad would happen and he would be back to where he started with a shortage of love and opportunities. Between his broody nature, his fierce loyalty to those he loved, his dirty mouth, and his delicious body, I found myself wanting to cuddle the hell out of him and my mind going to very naughty places. Jo Raven's heroes often illicit those two responses in me and stay with me long after their story is told. Must be why I am such a die hard fan of hers!
Augusta or Gigi as everyone calls her is a girl who has lived through her fair share of a painful past but has a family who loves her and chooses to live on the sunny side of life. The only dark cloud that she still often thinks about in her world from a couple of years back is Jarett..the misunderstood boy who got away. So when she happens upon a more sullen and dark version of Jarett, she finds herself scared to get to know him and to intrigued to turn away. After meeting the handsome inked bad boy, who could blame her? There wasn't anything that I didn't absolutely adore about this heroine who puts her heart on the line and looks deep below the surface to see who Jarett really is. She may seem all giggly and cute but she is fierce and sexy in her own way and isn't going to let Jarett forget it!
Jo Raven delivers a suspenseful and sexy read that keeps your heart pounding and melting with every page. You just never know what you are going to experience in the next chapter with these amazingly vivid characters, they could be tangled in the sheets, trying to run away from their feelings, or seconds away from danger. I highly recommend Bad Wolf for a romance that offers the steam and the excitement. Jo Raven stories never cease to amaze me and draw me into a new world that I never want to leave and that I want to return to again and again.
I don't know how many times I have started, deleted and then started again to write this review. I haven't read a good Jo Raven book since Ink Babies. I was hoping this would be like the Ink Brotherhood/Damage Control. In some ways Bad Wolf reminded me of bits of different previous characters. Though I honestly don't know if I truly liked this book or just read it because it was Jo Raven. This is probably going to be one of my worst written reviews of the year.
I liked Jarett's character, with how complex he is/was. Gigi....I just don't know if I liked her or not. To be honest when I first started reading, I wondered where the hell this story was going. There was definitely a slow burn which I kind of enjoyed. But still something was missing for me personally. I can't put my finger on it and hate that I can't figure out what is it.
I just love Jo Ravens tortured heroes and Jarett oh dear, I just wanted to hug him at times and make it all better.
Jarett or Rett has been so unfortunate in life, first he loses his parents, goes into foster care then when he finally has a home he loses his foster dad too who was a police officer and got caught up in a shootout. The guy has one misfortune after another.
Gigi is the sister of Octavia, so if you have read previous books in this series you would have caught glimpses of her. Jarett is her boy next door, the guy who protects her from the bullies just by being in her presence, the guy who is like a puzzle she wants to solve, until she has to move away and doesn't see Jarett again until 2 years later.
Bad wolf is story of a destined reunion, a hero who is rescued by the heroin with a plot containing gang members, pressures, making the right decisions, being able to see the light after years of darkness and hardship, family values and a Cinderella story, only the Cinderella in this story is Rett.
A steady paced read with a good balance of angst and hotness in all the right places.
Told in first persons dual pov and leads to a hea.
Looking forward to Gigi's brothers story next, Merc is a good guy, a loving brother so I'm interested to see we're Jo will go with him. I was also left with unanswered questions re Sydney and her hunt for a missing friend? I didn't really get that part in the plot but hoping it will be revealed at some point.
This story had what I felt initially was a brief, slow build and I wasn’t sure where it was going. Ummm I quickly overcame any misgivings. Rett and Gigi are awesome. They felt real and behaved and thought like young people. Not immature but youthful and often naive, only looking at something from their own point of view. This book is beautiful on its own but it had some of the flavor of Ms Raven’s Inked Brotherhood/Damage Control Series. This of course produces all kinds of emotions, bringing on the nostalgia. Rett is definitely one of her tortured young men that she writes so well (sigh). You will definitely route for him even when you see his poor choices. It’s a testament to amazing writing cause you see his heart and motivation. Gigi is a character we have met in previous stories. In this book we really get to see how she has matured and her heart of gold. Yes there were several times I wanted to shake both Rett and Gigi. They gave this reader way too much anxiety and fearfulness of something bad happening. Oh if you are looking for some hot and steamy interactions, well this author will never disappoint (wink wink). The beautiful message of family was such an underlying element throughout this story. Ugh it will tug at the heartstrings. Lastly I am a fairytale gal so linking this to one was AWESOME!!! Love reading after the story some of the detailed thoughts that went into the outline and writing of this story. A definite must read. Happy Reading Everyone!!!
This one was a bit of a slow build for me ijn the beginning but I quickly became hooked on the story. I really loved Jarett and Gigi. He's the dangerous bad boy and she's the girl next door. I really enjoyed the darker story and it was full of angst so there was never a dull moment.
This book was given to me at my request and I provided this review voluntarily
Bad Wolf is not the first book I've read from this author. I've loved all of the previous books I've read from her, so I expected this book to blow me away. I was more frustrated than anything with this story. Jarett was too good a brother and son. He definitely deserved more than what he was given from his so called family. I understood his "mom's" situation but I hated his brother Sebastian and really wished he was killed off. From the very beginning of the story I wanted Jarett to give up on his brother and not care. I disliked Sebastian that much and I didn't care about his "problem" Gigi was too clueless for her own good. I didn't hate her character but I didn't love her either. I didn't care for her best friend Syndey either. However, I loved her brother Mercury, her mom and her sister. This story was slower than I expected but it also had so much going on at the same time. This was not at all what I expected and although it wasn't a completely terrible read this was most definitely not my favorite read from this author. However, I would still be reading more books from this author in the future because I enjoyed her other books just that much. This one just wasn't the right one for me.
This is a good story. Jarett and Gigi are the bad boy and good girl couple that anyone can fall in love with.
This book has wonderful characters and a great storyline. I will say that sometimes it was slow but not overly slow. We got to see some past characters and enjoyed new ones. Good book overall. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
5 stars, my heart feels as tortured as a Jo Raven guy
Jeez, first things first... When Jo Raven says tortured guy, she means business...Real tough business...
I have a big problem with Jo Raven's books and characters. I read my first book Asher and fell in love, then read another book and fell in love too. Then read the next book and fell in love again... and so on... but I never ever fell out of love with one of them. My sweet boys and strong girls rip my heart to shreds and this week... Jarett and Gigi just waltzed all over the pieces and mashed them to a pulp of emotions.
Jaretts story stole my breath. Imagine to live in that funk of guilt and fear and loss twisted my tears out of me. I wanted to wrap him into my arms and show him, there is bright light in this world. But Gigi did that for me already. She has my heart too. I was kind of not a Gigi fan when I read Caveman but now I just love her. Another couple of Jo Raven's stories that get a place on my top shelf.
Thank you for this gorgeous story. I can't wait to reread/listen again. It's one of my top 5 reads by Jo Raven 🤔 maybe top 3...🙄 or top 2... 🤪🤬🤫 please don't tell that her other boys. I love them all. 💖
Jarett is a very complex character. It seems like the more the book goes on the more you want to know about how he thinks. Why he does what he does. I love how Gigi doesn’t give up even when she’s not 100% sure. You can tell she’s always in Jaretts mind even when he tries to rote the her and keep here away from all the danger. Loved this book and can’t wait for Merc I have a feeling he’s going to be my favorite character!
you rocked this book! she was his friend and had a crush on him. she end up leaving never to see him again until now. hes with his brother who is with bad people. she wants him, but what price will she pay? read to find out what happens.
Another fantastic book by Jo. I'm so glad I read this early. This is my favorite book of Jo's. It was hot, well written and not to mention Jarrett is one sexy beast. I couldn't stop reading after I started. Cannot wait for her next read.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A fantastic book. Very entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I usually really enjoy Jo Raven books, but I stopped reading this one once Jarrett slept with some random girl, especially since he'd already ran back into Gigi. I'm not remotely interested in books containing outside of the relationship sex. It's even worse when the two main characters already know each other. This kind of crap will get a 1 star from me almost every single time. It's gross, detracts from the validity of the actual relationship in the book, and makes the character engaging in this seem super slutty. How am I supposed to take him seriously now or see value in his eventual relationship when he's just been with someone else? Plus, the way he was treating the random was awful. Being good to Gigi later on does not excuse him being an ass to this random girl. Lastly, I would love some originality. Every romance book written these days is about a reformed manwhore. I don't expect them to be perfect or monks, but it would be nice if every male character wasn't slutty, and it is just tiring and boring to read the same crap over and over. Find another angle. Reformed playboy/bad boy/manwhore is old and repetitive.
It's been a long journey since the first day that I had venture into the book world and I regret nothing. Lol. On the contrary I lived and loved every second of it and being a greedy girl I always want more. There are genres that I won't venture out but there are others that I can't start fast enough. In this odyssey I've meet several authors, unfortunately not in person yet, that made me fall in love with books and this lady is one of them. Jo Raven is the bomb. Between love stories, to steamy stories, to drama and suspense she's there. Each book it's different but always an engaging story. Her writing is hot, simple yet pretty detailed, wild, forbidden and so much more. Bad Wolf is her latest release and don't let the tittle suggest a paranormal story because you will be surprised. This is a book that you can't miss. Have you read Caveman, Undone or Mancave? If you have you know why I'm so happy, if you haven't I totally advise you to read them all in order because despite they are all standalones you need to know the characters from the beginning. This book tells the stories of Jarett and Gigi. Jarett has a troubled soul. His life hasn't been easy and it left marks on him. His birth parents were criminals killed by the police and he end up adopted by a couple with an older son. He's a very reserved guy with a soft spot for only one girl. Years passed and now they meet again but he's even darker now. Gigi is a sweet girl but a wild one as well. She used to live with her big sister, her mom and her younger brother. She's stubborn and knows what she wants. When a new boy moved to a house near her own she was attracted to him but he was always so quiet. When her big sis moved to a new town with her husband, they moved too and she lost contact with the new boy. Until one day... Jesus... Could this book be even more intense... The plot is breathtaking, super engaging, sweet and wild at the same time. The interaction between the characters is beautiful, raw with so much doubts and conflicts... And it's amazing the chemistry they share. The way the story progressed left me anxious, jumpy, mad, happy, hot... All these emotions at the same time it was overwhelming. We all know that life isn't easy or fair but when we have a glimpse of happiness we need to grab it with both hands and can't let it slip away. I knew that this book would be this amazing and I'm so glad for the chance to read it. And of course the hot scenes will drive you crazy with desire and in need of a very cold shower... It's so great to keep having news from the other characters from this series. Jo you're amazing and this series keeps getting better and better. I'm so anxious to have Merc's story as well and Sidney. When will that be? Soon... I hope it's soon. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow! What can I say? Jo managed to blow my mind every damn time I read one of her books!
Gigi wasn’t one of my favourite characters, and I was unsure what her story was going to like. She always seemed but stand offish, and unwilling to help people unless they agreed with her, almost spoilt. However, I now see her for what she truly is, a kind and loving person, who grew so much throughout the novel, she allowed herself to love and in turn allowed Jarett to grow and love too.
Jarett, well what can I say? The front cover was super hot, and I knew he had to be a good guy and give him and Gigi a happy ending. The darkness that surrounded him was slowly released, it was as if the more Gigi opened her heart to the light, more of Jaretts dark came out so she could cover it in light. Being in a gang he saw and did things which, were a little bad and dark and he stood and did nothing, he was there for Seb, I understand that, and also we see him struggling with himself over the turmoil as he doesn’t want to be the bad guy. As much as I would of loved Gigi and him to have their insta happy ending, him going to jail allowed him and us as readers to feel a justice had been served. We know he’s a good guy and he’s not going to screw it up again.
The raw, honest developing love between Rhett and Gigi was beautiful to read. Admittedly him demanding sexual favours off her made me question whether I was going to like him was unfounded as the duel POV showed us why he was trying to make her mad by being mean to her, which ultimately just made me like him more. Also knowing that Gigi wanted to be with him in every sense of the word just added to their torment and love. Rhett's back story us truly heart breaking, making us feel more for him, and seeing Gigi's mom being so caring to him, and Marc accepting him and then Matt seeing his true feelings for Gigi, really touched me and created added depth to the characters.
I really like all the references to red riding hood, wolves and red, Jo really was on the ball and I think a bit in her element having everything fit so well in place.
We get to see the continuation of Matt and Tati and her pregnancy, but still no name for the baby boy, and we see the story of their mom and her romance progressing which was really sweet, knowing what she’s been through too. We see quite a bit of Merc, and I admit to really wanting to know more about him and see him happy with the love of his life. He seems so put together, so kind and caring and loving that I really wonder how Jo is going to torture him.
A fantastic stand alone novel, but do much better if you are aquatinted with all the other characters. I can’t wait for more from Jo.
I voluntarily read this book as an ARC for a honest review
5 Stars to Bad Wolf by Joe Raven. When I pick up a jo Raven novel I know I’m about to be gutted. Her heroes are tough, and arrogant, sexy and intense. They are protective beyond the normal without being over the top possessive. But the stand out trait in their character is a tortured, heartbreaking, gut wrenching past. And in BadWolf, our hero, Jarrett, is Jo’s latest victim.
Jarrett is an intense man. He has had a past no one should have to suffer through. While he is older and independent, his past is still dictating his future. I won’t go into details for obvious reasons but I will tell you that while Jarrett has a good heart, his choices lead him into trouble.
I loved Jarrett! I felt very protective of him. Yes he could physically take care of himself but what he needed desperately was an emotional connection. Jarrett needed love. His monologue in this book was emotional and believable. What broke my heart time and again was that he believed he would never have it.
Until..... Gigi
Gigi was selfless and also had a big heart. She loved her family and if you gave her a chance to be your friend, she was loyal and protective. Gigi is Octavia's sister ()I thought some of her choices, the situations she unknowingly put herself in were because of her protective nature. She could have easily gotten hurt. Again I can’t say more without spoiling this book for you. I will say, she was lucky.
BadWolf has a lot of secondary characters. Some from previous books and some new. Gigi’s brother Merc will get his story told soon. I also hope we get Gigi’s bff Sydney’s story as well. I expect that will be a ménage.
There are intense and worrisome moments in this book. Jarret and Gigi’s relationship is angsty however their sexy scenes were scorching. Bad Wolf was another great book by Jo Raven. And while this book has a happy ending, I admit the circumstances of the last couple of chapters, prior to Jarret and Gigi’s more than deserved HEA, were not my favorite. I wished some things that happened, didn’t. That said, I completely understand that bad decisions have consequences. Doesn’t mean I liked it.
That said, this was another amazing book by Jo. This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

This family has been so amazing. I've loved Gigi throughout all of the other books, but this gives her a whole new light. Gigi and Rett are so awesome!
Jarett has so much going on in his life and he's so serious about it. The poor guy is really letting his past get the best of him. But then comes Gigi and she doesn't know how to say no. That is what I love about her. She knows what is right and isn't going to give up until she's done what she can. With Jarett that was especially true. She couldn't stop seeing him, just as much as he couldn't stop letting her in. When it came to the issues with his gang, his brother, his mother, when he was with Gigi he let it fall away.
There were so many things about his past that kept holding him back and I was so happy that Gigi helped him see the light. Her and her family are so amazing, especially Merc. He really helped her take Jarett under her wing, when he could have been that protective brother who said no. This family is so special and was exactly what Jarett needed. Despite all of the bad, they were all there for him through his whole journey. I love how Jo does this, she was so good at making this tight knit group. Rett was so lucky to have found Gigi.
I can't wait to see what Jo comes up with next and I really hope we get to see more of these two
Jarrett aka Rett, be still my weak little heart. This young man and all the bad luck he had when he was growing up. He truly believes that he doesn’t deserve to be loved like Gigi loves him. He feels cursed, that anyone that gets near him dies or leaves him. Gigi did once but not by choice, she tried to be with him but darkness was his friend and he didn’t want this good girl to be his and then watch her leave so he did it first but he never forgot, never.
Gigi had to move but never forgot about the dark, broading guy that would listen to her talk and talk when they would come back from school. She was the only girl that somehow understood his silence and kept him grounded when he didn’t know he needed it.
A few years have gone by and by chance, they met and Rett still saves her. Fate has a weird way of working but for Rett and Gigi, it gave them a second chance, it gave Rett hope and a glimmer of light at his dark tunnel. He wanted things that ne never thought was possible and now with her by his side, he sees a future with her.
You’ll be glued to the very end and even then, you will scream some more not because it’s over but because you want to see more into the future that is Rett and Gigi.
Bad Wolf by Jo Raven is a full length, contemporary romance. This is Augusta and Jarett’s story. Jarett has had a bad start to life, parents killed, foster homes, being adopted. Augusta (Gigi) Watson had a huge crush on her handsome neighbor Jarett and kept close to him after school to keep the bullies at bay. If you don’t remember Gigi, she is Octavia´s little sister and Matt´s sister-in-law. She moved with her mother and brother to live near the Hansens. Fast forward a few years and they meet back up. Jarett isn't the same. Jarrett has gone down a dark hole in order to watch out for his adopted brother, Sebastian. Seb has gotten into drugs and a bad gang which means Jarrett is stuck trying to keep his selfish adopted brother out of trouble so he gets in a gang with Seb. Gigi is warned to stay away from Jarett because of the fact he is in a gang, but she cares too much for Jarett; Gigi wants to make him better, wants to show him the light but isn’t sure he will be willing to go towards it because of all of the demons in his past. Thing is, Gigi is one determined and willful woman who is going to work hard to save him from himself if she has to hand wrestle the devil himself to get the one man she knows is her soulmate. I have to say, my heart broke for Jarrett and everything he had to go thru in his life. Jo Raven has written such a heartbreaking yet a story that does offer hope all in one story. It was so good, that I couldn’t stop once I started reading. I had been dying for Gigi’s story and she did her perfectly. Definitely recommend reading this.
My Rating: 4.8 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
"... Gigi is bright like a star, with a core of dark and steel."
Nothing described Gigi's character better than this line out of the book. Honestly after Jagged Edge I thought we hit the rock bottom of darkness by Jo Raven, but this book took the cake. It was darker and grittier than everything else before and I loved it.
I wanted this book ever since we got glimpses on Gigi and Jarrett in Mancave. Hints and Secrets that made me want to have this book right now. Well I had to wait and it was worth it. this book had me hooked from line One and I couldn't put it down till I was finished. Jarrett might even tie with my all time favorite Bad Boy Zane Madden. I never thought that was even a possibility!
My heart broke for Jarrett and everything he had to endure. This boy couldn't get a break and yet he managed to be good. A good boy, to quote Gigi's mom. Seriously. If you like your bad boys broken almost beyond repair and dark and gritty. Read. This. Book. You won't be disappointed.
Hey there Little Red Riding Hood You sure are looking good You're everything a big bad wolf could want.
Jarrett and Gigi get their second chance in this deliciously naughty fairy tale romance. Gigi knew a boy that was quiet, sweet, and stole her heart away until circumstance broke them apart. Now years later she runs into Jarrett again and he has become this hard sexy stranger - but something tells Gigi her Rett is still behind the mask he has created. Its seems that Jarrett has always been followed by a cloud of death and despair. Everytime he finds some silver lining it is ripped from him.
