The Hamiltons #2

Champagne and Daisies

Rate this book
One night out. One balmy evening in Napa Valley. One man, letting loose before embarking on a new business venture. One woman, letting her hair down after another fight with her father over how she runs her winery—and her life. One too many glasses of wine. What does it all add up to? A one night stand.

Chelsea Hamilton has led a charmed life. She’s a golden girl who has it all. She grew up in the lap of luxury surrounded by a loving family. She’s no spoiled little rich girl, though. She has a huge heart, a kind heart, a giving heart – a heart that sometimes blinds her to the more practical considerations in life—and business. She just wants to be allowed to run the winery her way. Okay, so the profit margins might not be in line with the rest of Hamilton-Groves, but it’s not like she’s making a loss.

Unfortunately, her father believes she can be brought into line and he’s hired Grant Dawson to turn the winery around, and to teach Chelsea a few lessons in the process.

Grant’s eager to prove his worth to the patriarch of Hamilton-Groves. He’s masterminded dozens of successful corporate turnarounds. He doesn’t foresee many difficulties in whipping a little winery into shape. It should be a straightforward job that will hopefully lead to more work with the Hamilton-Groves Corporation.

It should be, it would be—if the woman he’s supposed to be helping wasn’t the very same woman he hasn’t been able to get out of his mind since he let her out of his bed twenty-four hours ago. How’s he supposed to focus on turning the business around when he doesn’t know if he’s more infuriated or infatuated? Whichever it is, Chelsea’s fighting him every step of the way.

Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)

Another fun trip to wine country

SJ McCoy heats up the pages right from the start when Chelsea and Grant meet without them realizing that they are to work together. Once again she combines characters with very real hang ups and insecurities, intelligence, and giving hearts, with fun, heat and a sweet HEA. She knows how to keep her readers happy and coming back for more.

Another great story from SJ McCoy!
Chelsea is desperately trying to show her family that she can be successful in the winemaking business even if she doesn't put profits first. Her father has other ideas and hires a guy to turn the business around. The guy she should have and fight against just turns out to be the guy she met on a night out and can't get him out of her head.
Once the shock discovery is over they find a way to work together and as time passes they realise they don't just work well together -they are good together in every way.

Loved this story and although it's the second of a series you could pick it up and read it as a standalone, but your imagination will be much richer if you read the first one in the series, right after you've read the other two series' SJ has written. A ranch full of interesting characters all connected to one family, a lakeside resort where the bunch of friends who grew up together is growing and now a wine valley escape. whenever I need to escape the realities of life I know an SJ McCoy book will do the trick.

I went many years without reading for pleasure and then discovered SJ's Summer Lake Series when I was trying to find ways to relax. Loved it read all SJ's work and now am an avid reader again (reading for pleasure) had never given up reading information stuff and have devoured many books from many authors, but SJ is one of my faves!

I received an early copy of this book for an honest review.

I was drawn into this book from page one. Chelsea’s day just went from bad to worse but then Mary Ellen calls and a girls’ night out it is. Chelsea and Mary Ellen have a fun night out and Chelsea ends up meeting Grant and they have an amazing night together only exchanging first names. Over the weekend they each continue to think about their one night. Who knew that Grant was the person who could make or break things for Chelsea. I really enjoyed this book and getting to see the relationship between Chelsea and her father and then add Grant into the mix. There are also our visits with Smoke and Laura and Cameron and Piper and we get to see Gene again. Love how Mary Ellen has Chelsea’s back even though as she said she has a foot in both camps, working for Cameron but being Chelsea’s friend. I loved this book and how Mr. Hamilton saw the spark between Grant and Chelsea and helped it along a bit. I didn’t want this book to end. To Chelsea and her dress up box and drinking champagne in wine country. I’m definitely looking forward to Mary Ellen’s story; I love how she is so integral in everyone’s lives and how she has everyone’s backs as well. When she saw Grant again at the winery after meeting him in the club with Chelsea during their girls’ night out and realizing why he was there, priceless.

Chelsea is having a bad day when her best friend drags her out for a night food, fun and dancing what more could you ask for. When things take a turn she wonders what other decisions she it making that may or may not need to be relooked at. Grant is back in his home town and he wants this to work out he wants to find away to continue to make a name for himself and maybe stay. When he meets a girl at the club and has a one night stand he just cant seem to get her out of his mind and wonders what could have been. Can Chelsea and Grant get the answers they both seek and help each other or are the better off on there own?
I am so loving the Hamiltons' and there family. They aren't perfect and they don't try to be they are rich but don't think twice at helping those around them. I really enjoy how each story ends with a semi-colon to bring awareness. I really loved how Chelsea was this strong independent person who was not going to back down from anything. This book does have adult language and situations. However this book was such a fun read and I can't wait for more from this fun family. ( I am hoping Mary Ellen story is next.) You really can't go wrong with this book or this series.

S.J. McCoy does it again. In the second book of The Hamilton's series, the story of Grant and Chelsea is one that you will definitely want to read.

We originally meet Chelsea at Storm and Laura's wedding and in the story of Cameron and Piper. The only girl of three, she just wants to stand on her own and do things her way. Grant on the other hand, is known by some as the hatchet man and has been hired by Chelsea's father to turn the winery around.

Although one would think this is not a good situation for anyone, we as the reader realize from the beginning that things are not always as they seem. Especially when Chelsea and Grant's first meeting is actually at Chelsea's cousins restaurant when neither one knows who the other is.

Although, I would definitely put this on your reading list, you may want to start with the first book of the series so that you can get know each of the players. Don't worry though, if you decide to read this one first, you can pick out who everyone is by reading between the lines.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This was such a sweet story that I loved. Chelsea Hamilton is running her father’s wine business, but he doesn’t like that she uses her heart in business instead of the bottom line. He hires Grant Dawson to come in and look over how her business is run and tell her changes she can make to receive more profit. Of course Chelsea is against it. Then when Grant comes Into the conference room they are both shocked as the night before they had slept together.

I loved how Grant understood Chelsea and wanted to help her even though he was actually working for her father. Chelsea had such a good relationship with her whole family, it made me wish I had a few brothers. Chelsea had such a big heart and never felt like she had to be a big shot or extremely rich. She was good to her employees. Chelsea tried to fight her attraction to Grant since he was working with her. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

Champagne and Daisies is another great book by an amazing author.
Chelsea is an independent young woman trying to make her vineyard a success on her own terms, only problem is her father (who loves her dearly) but still has a say in the business, he can’t except the way she’s doing it, by looking out for her employees and concentrating on the wines than how much money it should be making.
Things could get tricky when the man employed by her father to change the way the vineyard is run and make it a more profitable business, is also the one night of hot, wild, no strings attached fun from the weekend before.
Lovely romantic read of will they won’t they, that I read from start to finish as I couldn’t put it down.
Love the way SJ McCoys books all entwine with her previous story’s, great to still have mentions of all the characters we’ve come to love along the way.
Never fail to be swept away in her books.
Great read for the true romantics amongst us.

Chelsea has had a bad day which has just got so much worse after a meeting with her father, and when she is dragged out by her BF, she decides to make the most of it. Chelsea end up having a one night stand with Grant, who unbeknown to her, is the man who her father has brought in to work with her. These two have instant chemistry, but do they stand a chance of any relationship? No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed!
This is a beautifully written story, which had me captivated throughout, and I loved the humour as well as the secondary characters that made an appearance. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all, and I cannot wait to read more in this amazing series!

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
It was only supposed to be one night of fun.
How was she to know that he is the new hire ?
How was he to know that he was going to be working with her/
The attraction + sexy chemistry are still very much there.
What will these 2 do ?
Chelsea was just letting out some steam.
Another conversation where he father still do not really trust her to run the winery.
This was just another job for Grant.
He really did not think that he would find something much more appealing than the job.
Now, both of them will have to decide if they can give each other a chance.
It was a very charming + sweet romance.
Loved the storytelling + the characters!

Chelsea and Grant

Chelsea and her friend go out for the evening, and Chelsea hooks up with a guy called Grant, and spends the night with him.
Then she finds out he has been hired by her dad to go over the books of her business to see if he can make any suggestions to make it more profitable.
But although Chelsea likes Grant she is happy with how things are, even if it's not as profitable as her brother's businesses.
But she still likes working with Grant, in fact she likes having him around so much they are back sleeping together, and what she feels is more than like, but could it ever be something more?
This is another beautifully written book by SJ McCoy and I would love others to read it, and enjoy it as much as I have!

Grant and Chelsea’s story may be one of my favorites. Chelsea is a strong independent woman who does not need someone to tell her how to run her business. When her dad requires a consultant to come in to review her business, Chelsea just knew he would be a shark who would force her to change her business. Little did she know that this shark would be a handsome man with business smarts she had encountered before. If you love romance novels this is a great one!! Even better if you have read SJ McCoy before you will recognize some of the characters in the story and will love this new one!!

OMG! What a book. We met Chelsea in the Hamiltons book 1, she is a complete fire cracker and definitely one to keep people on their toes. That includes the gorgeous Grant. He has been hired to help ‘fix’ her winery business, partially owned by her father. As the pair have different approaches to running a business, they cannot agree on the best course of action. So Mr Hamilton brings in Grant to hopefully get her on his track. However, they end up on a track of their own.
I really cannot wait for the next book to come out. Really love these guys!

The Hamilton’s are a great spinoff

Thoroughly enjoyed Grant and Chelsea’s story from beginning to end. Well written with the right amount of romance, steam and family. All the characters are well fleshed out and of course we meet up again with Smoke and Laura and of course Cameron and Piper. If you have not yet read the first book in this series do yourself a favor and read it first then go onto this one. I am off to get book 3 and by the way, it is 5 Stars from me and well worth the time and effort spent with the Hamilton’s!

McCoy has been one of my favorite authors for a long time and I don't miss a book!

Like Chelsea I was a daddy's girl, and with that said, it isn't always easy! I love Chelsea's commitment to wanting to do the right thing in business, love and her personal life. This family has been through hell, and it is a joy to see them come back to together as a family, and own their past and their future. Who say's a one-night stand can't lead to forever!

I read and reviewed this advanced read copy.

Chelsea is determined to run her vineyard the way she wants to. Her father wants her to run it his way. So, he goes out and bring in someone who will look at it and see what needs to be done. In comes Grant and he’s to help change the vineyard. Little did he know that Chelsea would change him, and him her. A beautiful adventure to love and needed changes.

As always, I fell in love with SJ's characters. Plus is there anything better than romance and wine! Set in wine country, Grant and Chelsea prove that sometimes opposites compliment each other perfectly. The story is rich, the Hamiltons are inspiring, and it makes Napa Valley my next destination.

Chelsea and Grant

Chelsea and Grant hook up one night. Later they meet when her company is in trouble. Grant is a hachet man who is sent to fix her company. They are a cute pair and we see a little of Piper and Cameron and Smoke and Laura. Good story.
