Walters has written a book that bears repeated reads. She gives sound advice and backs it up with anecdotes about some of our greatest humans who used the same methods to accomplish great things against impossible odds. By coupling each bit of advice with a parable, akin to Jesus, she strengthens the message and allows us to buy into the concept on a deeper level as humans are draw to stories and examples as the best learning devices. Some of her examples are about lesser known people, like Wil Smith, who as a single dad finished college and walked with his daughter. His baby forced him to leave the military and make hard, but focused choices that were best for his family, choices he would not have made had things been easier. Seeing the positive effect of negative events on our lives is a powerful truth that is rarely appreciated. Walters continuously stresses gratitude and that single piece of advice is worth the price of admission.
