New Egypt: The Revelations of Oriceran

Rate this book
After a century, magic’s greatest enemy has returned—Vampires.

Queen Azure sets off on a world tour of Oriceran, thinking she’ll strengthen relations with neighboring kingdoms. On her first stop in New Egypt she finds something chilling.

People all over the kingdom are being bitten, many of them turned.

Led into a secret headquarters, Azure meets one of the oldest covens governed by the magic that connects Oriceran to Earth. The witches and wizards of New Egypt need protection from the vampires. Those from Virgo will need help too. These blood hungry monsters are taking over and want more.

Ready for a brand new take on vampires? Step into New Egypt where the Founders rule, turning those with magic into Followers, one bite at a time.

*NOTE: There’s cursing in this book because these witches and wizards are just rude like that. If cursing is a problem, then this might not be for you.

Another entertaining entry into the Soul Stone Mage series. The writing is excellent, the story fast paced and the characters are great!

I especially love the references to current pop culture and how another world would view our obsessions with things like Facebook and selfies. It would be hard to pick a favorite character in this series, but I truly love Monet's irreverent attitude along with his unfailing loyalty to Queen Azure.

I hope that Ms. Noffke plans to continue this series for a long time because we all need more entertainment and fun in our lives. And, I'm anxious to see what happens next with the vampires introduced in this book! This book was a great way to finish off the year!

*I received a copy of this book from the author for a honest review!*

Fifth book in the series already, Ms. Noffke is a machine.
As always I absolutely love the world building and descriptions. It shows the immense creativity and imagination the author possesses.
So many characters managed perfectly. I have this feeling with all of Ms. Noffke's characters, they are truly different. You can actually hear another voice for each of them in your head. That is brilliant and you find it so rarely in many of today's books.
I loved the adventure in New Egypt, I loved that carriage, I want one, forget Ferrari's, I want a magical carriage with dragons instead of horses. Christmas is coming so I'll put it on my list for this year. I'll even scrap my kid's list, sometimes you have got to prioritize. What should I do with a pony anyway, right?
Do you want to know what I loved best though, it's kind of a secret. Ok, ok, since you really really want to know but it's a spoiler, a tiny one .
And wow, now we have vampires in this one, yes, they are bad bad vampires but if there is someone who could lure them to the light side, that is Azure. This amazing young queen with the most beautiful soul.
I really want blue hair now. I should hide this review so my husband doesn't see it and think I'm nuts.
Monet, priceless as always. Ever, that boy is hotter than the Sun, when he enters a scene panties are melting for sure. Manx, OMG I've never seen somebody that hungry for pea soup. Grandma, I'll not even go there, that woman has more things up her sleeve than Dinamo. Finswick, that cat is ferocious. Laurel, best companion for Monet.
And I was pleasantly surprised about our own Evil Author's roundabout cameo in this installment. I know, she couldn't help herself, she wanted in on the fame. Leeching off those poor, innocent, impressionable characters. Those sweet, little babies. And unicorns. What an Evil Author thing to do!
Now I must must must times infinity know what happens next because it ended with that pure bliss scene I've been waiting for an eon now and I want moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

This is the best book in the series so far. I love the characters, the humor and the progression of the story. It is suspenseful, funny, has a great variety of species and is an exciting adventure. The new characters are great, from the Oak with his dragons and their amazing carriage, to a genie named Bob and vampires with hopes of world domination; they are intriguing and all leave you wondering what next you will discover about them. Of course Azure and her gang continues to grow in depth. Their relationships and characters progress with each story told and the hints of romance floating about keep you hoping for more. I still love Monet, with his caring heart and brilliance that he conceals behind sarcasm, alcohol and a laissez-faire attitude. The author’s humor and imagination shows very well in this book, and her tongue-in-cheek intrusion into the story is very amusing. Even though this novella can be read as a stand alone, you would get much more from it if you read the series in order. I really look forward to the continuation of this story.

OMG!!! There are vampires taking over Oriceran!!

First of all, WOW! This book is kicking butts and taking names. Queen Azure, Monet, Ever, Laurel, Manx and Finswick, travel to New Egypt. We meet Oak, the coach driver (dragon master). Yep!! You read it correctly, there are dragons in this here story.

While in New Egypt, Azure finds a coven of witches/wizards. This coven is hoping for help with the vampire problem. It is their belief that Queen Azure will be that help. There are a lot of politics in the tattooed coven. Azure and the rest must distinguish fact from fiction, while trying to escape the vampires.

I loved how the storyline is unfolding! I don't want to give too much away but . . . fine I won't say anything. If you are a fan of Oriceran, this book is a must read. If you're not a fan of Oriceran, why not? This series has characters you will love to invest in, a magical world to learn about, and all kinds of twists and thrills.

Azure's life is never boring. Something simple like a trip to visit the other regions of Oriceran leads her to trouble. Azure seems to have trouble with following rules, especially when meeting with other leaders, but this often works in her favour. Every book has more mythical/fantasy creatures appearing. I love Bob and especially like Azure saying “Yeah, I already know. I have a ‘special’ genie. Surprise, surprise. I think he’s related to Blisters,”. I laughed at Monet asking if Azure every felt like she was a character in a book and an author was making up her life. I love this series and can't wait for the next book to see what the vampires do next.

A mixture of the present and the past and a pretty epic collision that's just the beginning. Nice combination of legendary creatures, I was pleasantly surprised with the plot and character development. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

New Egypt had something for everyone: witches and wizards, elves, pookas, vampires, dragons ... you name it.

Plot:
At the end of Land of Terran, just when you thought everything was going to be okay, the epilogue featured a couple of vampires. New Egypt expands on that story, giving Azure and crew a new enemy to fight.

Characters:
Azure continues to get better and better. She cares so much for her friends and does everything she can to protect them, even when it endangers her. Azure's always been surrounded by great supporting characters, Sari, Monet, Lauren, Gillian, and Blisters, but it's Ever who really stands out in New Egypt, and toward the end of the book, Azure finally begins to see what we the readers have seen all along.

Writing:
Noffke is extremely creative, and New Egypt is a perfect example of that. She finds a way to include many different characters, but they are all very memorable, as each plays a crucial role in the plot. If the book were a movie, I’d probably rate the book a PG13 in movie terms. There’s very little violence or adult situations, but there is a lot of drinking and cursing. (Noffke warns about it in the book description.) If you don't like the F word, you might struggle with the series, but if you're okay with it, you'll have lots of fun.

The Bottom Line:
New Egypt did end on kind of a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see how Azure and her friends find their way out of danger, but I'm almost as curious to find out how her situation with Ever develops.

Well, this book certainly left me on cliff hanger!

Azure and her companions go out of Virgo on a trip across Oriceran. Now that things are settled in Virgo, she wants to take some time away from her home, to meet the people of the other Countries of Oriceran, and her mother and Gran have assured her that they'll look after everything.

She asks Monet and Even to go with her, along with the WereCat, Lauren, and the Pooka, Manx. She also takes her own Familiar, a talking cat called, Finswick, with her.

Monet gets Azure to agree to a race to New Egypt, and so he goes with Lauren and Manx, and Azure goes with Evan and Finswick.

On their way, Azure, Even and Finswick, come across a pool of water, and Azure discovers a Lamp in the water, with a Genie called Bob inside, who gives her three wishes.

As they continue their journey, they are suddenly attacked by Centaurs, who Monet had got to agree to fake an attack on them, to slow them down.

But Azure use her first wish, to escape, and they arrived in New Egypt well before Monet popand his team.

This is only the beginning of their adventures, which involves a strange, extremely old Witch, who gives Azure a pendant to replace the Soul Stone that she used, to help heal the people of Virgo, and a meeting with a young girl, who has been attacked by a Vampire Founder.

Azure, of course, offers her help, despite knowing that the girl had no hope of recovery, and this starts a race between herself and the two Founder Vampires who have moved into New Egypt, to start up their Coven once more.

I really enjoyed this, and just want to start on the next book, book six: ' Langothy', so I can find out what happens next. So, I'll make a start and, once I've finished, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!

4 Chosen For What Stars

New Egypt is the fifth book in the Soul Stone Mage series by Sarah Noffke, Martha Carr, and Michael Anderle.

Oof, the introduction of vampires to the world Oriceran that we've come to know has had a resounding affect. These two founder vampires are trying to recreate their 'glory' of old on the lives of the New Egypt people. They particularly interested in strong wishes and wizards, to create more founders to empower their idealized future coven.

It shouldn't truly come as a shock that Chibale is not entirely trustworthy. He's far too secretive and suspicious even from the first introduction. This new version of Witch, and finding out that that witches have different customs and ways in which their power work depending on geography is intriguing. I find their tattoos so terribly interesting, but Azure is right in that seem entirely too uptight compared to her citizens of Virgo.

Oak is an interesting addition to the traveling group we've come to know. Him and his tame Dragons are in intriguing enough on their own, but the carriage that pull is the absolute most amazing aspect of their inclusion, imo. I hope we find out even more about this character as the journey continues.

The way in which the author outlines the Egypts of both Oriceran and Earth and ties it to the magic of the witches there and the vampires origins is fascinating.

Next up, we will most definitely be headed to Lancothy. Devo and Lux made they obvious, given their hunt for more bats to make new vampires. I wonder how much trouble Azure and her allies will have when returning to this hidden civilization? Especially, given their past experience there.

One of my favorites in this series! The Soul Stone Mage series has been nothing less than a crazy bumpy ride with some really interesting characters. Just when Azure thinks she can enjoy her time and take on her world tour she finds trouble brewing in New Egypt. VAMPIRES! They’re baaaaack! And wreaking havoc! I love how the story builds and the hilarious way these characters play off each other. In this story we get a few new characters (one very surprising character, Bob, but I can tell you no more about him). Azure has been told she is more or less the chosen one and has to embark on another crazy adventure that is really going to put her to the test. The setting for this story is one of my favorites! I love Egypt and we get to see the differences between New Egypt on Oriceran and Egypt on Earth. Even though this group of characters seem to get into some crazy situations they all manage to keep things light and fun. It’s so easy to fall in love with the characters and this story. I can’t wait for more!

I like it!

In a nice continuation of the 1st trilogy, Queen Azure goes on world tour. Bob the genie is creepy, the vampires terrifying (I had nightmares), and the dragon carriage is beyond cool. This team has excellent writers & editing (no typos like woah). Why not 5 stars? I feel like the Queen is lacking something. She's somehow not as smart, or quick or something...I can't quite put my finger on it. Her personality is the same, she just seem to have dumbed down. I'm disappointed. Ever is clearly up to something, and she forgave him too quickly, then stopped watching for weird behavior. I adore her "twin" even though I'd love to strangle him (you'll get that reference by the end of the book). All in all, good book. I'll likely read again, but only during daylight hours (vampire nightmares).

Snark, adventure, and vampires!

While Blisters was more or less MIA in this book, at least we still had Monet to keep the drama up. He's certainly calmed down considerably since book one, but still has some of that feisty spunk that made me fall in love with his character. Seriously, this guy needs some prequel novellas or something because he's such a hilarious sidekick and would be even more entertaining as the main attraction. Or maybe he and Blisters can have a novella of their own with the potions shop. Just throwing a few ideas out because as much I admire Azure, these two comic relief characters always steal the show. Can't wait to see what's in store next for the trouble -attracting travelers.

I enjoyed the book aside from a few things. This a sentence from the prelude, “Cordelia wore a red gothic Victorian dress, a fashion she’d fallen in love with when on Earth in the thirteenth century”.
The Victorian era means when Victoria reigned. Since that was 1837-1901 it was not the 13th century.
The other part was hardly any Gran, but thankfully very little Blisters. He is cute in small doses. There are some characters that need to be used sparingly. I used to love Toot-Toot from Dresden...until I read a short story from his perspective. Like I said a little is enough. I also wonder why Manx hasn’t translated Buzz-Buzz for the others to understand. Granted with his mischievous side they have to take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Another exciting story with Queen Azure, Monet and Ever, but this time they meet vampires! Queen Azure travels to New Egypt, the Oriceran twin to Earth's Egypt, to find the witches and wizards in New Egypt have a little vampire problem. There are some fun new characters, along with those I have grown to love in the previous books. The New Egypt witches are powerful and the vampires are too. Definitely an adventure not to be missed.

Vampires in Oriceran?

They must have bled over from the Earth that resides in the Kurtherian Universe, you know, next to the one in the Seppukarian Universe......hmmmm....

I see the Feline Overlord saves the day....of course! I think the queen witch should summon Baat and Sehkmet to help with the vampire problem.....

Love all the pawsome, clawsome, hooved cast! Fairies, little troublemakers! Can't go wrong with tame dragons either.....

Oriceran, meet Earth...

WOW!!! Sarah gave us, and her characters, some fun time before running headfirst into the exit adventure, and what an adventure it is! We get to explore New Egypt and to meet new characters, bury good, evil, and good who made poor decisions. There are some hilarious lines that I can't share, so download this and read for yourself!

Yet Another Disappointment from Michael Anderele

A young adult level novelette but with gratuitous cussing because cool. Not much meat here and a lot of fluff and sawdust. This series is a children’s bedtime fairy tale with instructive cussing.

Good extension of the story

Good while it lasted. I think story ended too soon. I would have liked to see a solution to the vampires instead of the cliffhanger.
