From moonlit nights to rainy days, all ten Mole Sisters tales are presented here in their entirety. How lovely!
The Mole Sisters are loved around the world, with a total of seven foreign editions. Here at home they have become best-sellers several times over, and an animated television series has brought their adventures to an even wider audience.
Now all ten Mole Sisters adventures are available in one beautiful collection. Each original tale is included in its entirety in a new panoramic format, allowing readers a fresh look at Roslyn Schwartz’s enchanting colored pencil illustrations.
Beautifully bound with a new cover and including a special bonus image by the author, The Complete Adventues of the Mole Sisters is as irresistible as the girls themselves. “How lovely,” said the Mole Sisters. And it is!
Although born in Montreal, Roslyn Schwartz moved with her family to England when she was two years old. She grew up in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Roslyn and her two brothers attended a Rudolph Steiner school in Sussex. She remembers it as a lovely area, close to Ashdown Forest, the home of Winnie the Pooh (though she didn't know it at the time). Growing up, Roslyn always read a lot; among her favorite books were Alice in Wonderland, Little Women, and the various adventures of Rupert Bear and Tintin.
Roslyn has written and illustrated a series of books for the very young following the adventures of the Mole Sisters. These stories found their inspiration from various elements throughout Roslyn’s life. The first time she ever saw a mole was on the way back from school. It was lying on its side, perfectly shaped and beautiful, but unfortunately quite dead. Riveted by the tiny creature, she carried it home in her sandwich bag. Over the years, Roslyn has always kept a pet rodent or two, in the form of guinea pigs and a rabbit.
The Mole Sisters series has become a favorite of children and parents. The Mole Sisters’ positive approach to life and unrelenting optimism appeals to all ages. The series now includes ten titles—including two new adventures, The Mole Sisters and the Fairy Ring and The Mole Sisters and the Way Home (2003)—as well as the Mole Sister finger puppets, which have brought their charm off the pages and to fingers everywhere. And watch for the new Mole Sisters television series on Treehouse TV!
Yo Baby! (2002) is yet another imaginative picture book written and illustrated by Roslyn. In addition to this book and the Mole Sisters, Roslyn has published three previous books and has released two animated films with the National Film Board of Canada, one of which, Arkelope, is for children.
The Mole Sisters and the Busy Bees has the sisters meet a bee and follow the bee to a meadow of flowers. The Mole Sisters and the Rainy Day has the sisters make the most out of a very rainy day. The Mole Sisters and the Fairy Ring has the sisters find a fairy ring and decide to be fairies for the day. The Mole Sisters and the Moonlit Night has the sisters find out that anything can happen on a moonlit night. The Mole Sisters and the Piece of Moss has the sisters take a piece of moss on an adventure. The Mole Sisters and the Wavy Wheat has the sisters explore a wheat field on a windy day. The Mole Sisters and the Blue Egg has the sisters go looking for something, but they don't know what they are looking for. The Mole Sisters and the Cool Breeze has the sisters looking for a cool breeze on a very hot day. The Mole Sisters and the Question has the sisters having trouble figuring out what they are. The Mole Sisters and the Way Home has the sisters on their way home when it starts to snow.
I love the Mole Sisters! They are so darn cute and love to get into adventures together. I like how the short little stories can be read all at once or one at a time if you only have a small time frame to read. These stories would be great for bedtime! Loved all their little adventures!
I adore the Mole Sisters! Great little stories and absolutely lovely illustrations. Kids I have read them to have also greatly enjoyed them. The only negative about this compendium of all the stories is that the illustrations here are smaller than in the single story versions.
The book looked really appealing. I like the layout of the images and text. The stories all started strong, but I was disappointed with the endings. Not many solid lessons to reflect back on with a child after reading.
Yes I'm an adult, but there's no law to say we can't enjoy children's books,. The Mole Sisters are adorable, the watercolour illustrations are beautiful, the stories are simple, and make the reader appreciate the beauty in nature, from the buzz of a Bee to the first fall of snow. Charming, to read and look at the artwork. Everyone should read a Mole Sister book.
