I need a fiancee. She needs a f*ck.

I only know Celia from the bar I work at, but I already know she isn’t the type to do one night stands. And she definitely isn’t the type to do one night stands with a tattooed bad boy bartender like me.

But she must have really been craving something, because here I am in her bed, making her scream my name as her hips buck and her toes curl.

And then my brother calls. Wants to know if I’m coming to his wedding.

We don’t talk much, and I didn’t even know he was engaged, and I feel stupid so I tell him yeah, I’m coming, and I’m bringing my own fiancee.

The fiancee I don’t have.

Celia’s the only one who knows about my lie, so I make her a deal — one week of incredible mind-blowing sex if she’ll come to the wedding and pretend to be my betrothed.

It should be easy. Fake it for a week and then ‘break up’ once we’re back home. But Celia's gorgeous smile and sinful curves are making this anything but easy ... in fact, they're making it downright hard.

And you know what they say: lies are like orgasms — sometimes it’s hard to stop at just one.

Filthy Fiance is a super steamy standalone contemporary romance — no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a candy-sweet happily ever after. <3

The first Cat Carmine book I read was The Deal Breaker, which I just read today. In that book, a huge part of it is Rori's best friend who is Celia. Celia's wedding takes place in that book, so I knew I had to go read her book. Plus, the fake relationship trope is one of my favorites, so I definitely had to check this book out.

It was really cute. Because the trope is so cute, I enjoyed the book. However, I feel like it was a bit too fast for a solid relationship to develop. Barely a week passes before they start making commitments. I feel like that's too soon. Also, we really don't get to know Celia and Jace as characters. For that matter, we don't really get into the nitty-gritty of any of the characters, which makes the story lack. Nonetheless, Cat Carmine has a lot of potential. And I will definitely continue to read her stories. I just don't know if I would give a glowing recommendation for this one.

And I'm out.

This one was better than the previous. We finally meet Trent and Luke's younger brother Jace, who has been living in NYC for the past 10 years. He is a bartender and he has a normal life. During his busy days at the bar, he often talks with Celia, a woman around his age who goes there to eat and drink. One afternoon Celia is angry and depressed because one of the associates of the Legal Firm where she works suggests her a 2-weeks leave from work after she threw a lot of muffins on her ex fiancé. Celia has always had an interest in Jace. Not only because of his looks, but because she likes chit-chatting with him while she's there at his workplace. Now that she has free time and she's single, she wants to enjoy her life a bit, so she asks him if he's game. It won't be anything more than sex. Before they even do what they've planned, though, a misunderstanding happens and Celia is even more depressed than before. But things are about to change.

Jace was way better than his brother Trent. He was a bit of a liar, but not when it came to Celia. She misunderstood him many times but in the end he successfully explains her everything. He seems to be harboring a bit of resentment towards Trent and Luke because they fired him from their company ages before, so when he receives Trent's wedding invitation, he is reluctant to go. So he lies he's engaged and asks Celia to be his date for the wedding.

Celia was a bit of a stronger character compared to Hannah in the previous book. She is a lawyer and she knows she's capable as much as men in her firm, but still, once she's on leave she doubts this is the job for her. And, in a way, it was better for her to break up with her ex and jump into fake fiancé territory with Jace, because he helped her go out of her comfort zone.

If there is one thing I didn't like is:

Anyway, Luke's book comes next and I'll read that one too to wrap up this series.

I was not wrong when I said Cat Carmine was a good author! The fake relationship/engagement is a topic we see around most of the time, but this book hooked me in. I just had to know the end of it, had to know what happened.

Jace is Trent's brother from Cat's previous book, Bigshot Boss. It can be read as a standalone without problems, however. I adored Trent but I love Jace. He's rough, loyal and...sweet. He left Chicago ten years ago after a mess he created at his brothers' work, but is coming back in town for Trent's wedding. And because he has a big mouth, he needs a fiancée. He truly likes Celia and wants to get back in touch with his brothers. He knows that if they find out he lied again, things are pretty much done between them. Even so, Trent was very caring with Celia. He listened to her and without realizing, he soon reached to her for comfort.

Celia was also a strong woman. She was brave enough not to let people walk on her, she was sweet and smart. And in need of some good orgasms and in Jace's allure, she agrees to help him. She falls hard and fast for him and creates a really big mess at the end. And what she does to untangle that mess is what really proves us she'd do basically anything for him.

Knowing Trent from the first book and knowing how his biggest regret of his life was how things ended with Jace, I was a bit disappointed when he said the only reason he included Jace in the wedding is because their mother insisted. It somehow disappointed me, that was not the Trent I knew. But, however, when they sit down to talk he explains it well and we soon realize Trent is still an amazing guy who just wants his brother back.

I am curious to know what happens next. I liked these characters, each one is interesting in its own way. I said this before and I will continue saying it, but I hope we'll soon get to read Ally's story. She is not very present in this story, but I fell in love with her in Bigshot. She deserves all the best and I hope she will find her happiness.

Overall, this is a book that deserves your time of the day. Or night, because Jace is one cheeky lover. *giggles*

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy....

Loved it! The plot was different with some shocking twist! Celia and Jace made a great couple with lots of chemistry. It was really off the charts explosive. I didn't see that coming with her ex-fiancée that was for sure! The characters were well-developed and easily relatable. I just really loved this story. The storyline flowed smoothly and I was hooked from the very beginning. I hated it when I got to the end of the story!

SPOILERS:

I was enjoying this book until the last third of it. The FMC runs after accidentally letting their secret slip. The MMC's brother overhears that their relationship is fake and she bolts without saying anything to the MMC. She not only leaves the situation, she leaves TOWN. With no communication with the MMC. They didn't fight or have any disagreement, whatsoever. She literally abandons him when she caused their secret to be discovered. Is she 16? She's an adult woman, with an ivy league education, self-described "good girl" and an attorney (someone who argues for a living.) And she RUNS? That action is beyond immature. It ventures into "not being capable" territory when her characterization up till that point had been that she is a very capable woman.

Up until that point, this book was a four to five star read. I was enjoying the dynamic between the characters. I was enjoying their sexy times and how they were getting to know each other more outside of the bedroom. The relationship was developing in a sweet way and then she goes and acts like a teenager. Her note doesn't make it better.

The fact that she was still in the same hotel and was ignoring his calls makes everything worse. Her rationalizations to herself on why she didn't pick up made no sense. Unfortunately, it made it very difficult to root for this couple anymore. Their communication was abysmal the last third of the book.

Chapter 30, I couldn't stop from rolling my eyes and almost DNFed. Only reason I didn't is because there wasn't much left, so I thought I might as well finish the story. These two characters, who DESPERATELY needed to TALK were finally going to have a conversation and the FMC says, "I don't want to talk", and they instead have sex. That really drives the point home that their relationship is based on sex instead of any kind of romantic connection, in my opinion. It's not like they are an established couple. They are very new and the fact she wants to have sex instead of finally figuring out where they stand shows what's important to her. Hint: it's not her heart or any supposed love for the MMC.

The MMC is just as ridiculous. You are telling me he went all the way to NYC to declare his love and he's content to keep delaying the conversation about their future? What happened to the impulsive rush to show up on her doorstep? That gives the idea he can't wait to blurt out his feelings to the woman he wants to be with. Instead, he's done everything BUT talk to her. He kept saying they need to talk later and now that they're alone, he's just going to forget about the conversation and have sex? Listen, I understand wanting to have sex, but the circumstances in this book makes their decision to skip the talk and go right to sex seem incredibly immature, ridiculous and diminishes their supposed feelings.

The next day after they have sex instead of talk, the FMC has the nerve to think that she, "hoped she would finally get the chance to talk to" the MMC that day. They had sex the night before and went to bed without ever having the important conversation about their relationship. The MMC has plans with his family because, of course he does. He's in town for family. She thinks that, "after last night", she, "thought they would spend the whole morning talking things through." You know what? If she had TALKED to him last night when she had the chance instead of her BS, "I don't want to talk" move, maybe she would have known he had family plans the next day. She definitely would already know where they stood as far as a relationship goes.

Overall, unfortunately, this book started off promising and took a nose dive. The last third ruined the first two-thirds of the book for me, so I can't give this one more than two stars. Suspension of disbelief is important in enjoying a lot of romance novels and my ability to suspend disbelief is highly dependent on the circumstances of the story, the characters, the overall tone, etc. When characters behave like idiots, I'm way less likely to be able to suspend my disbelief and this FMC was way too immature in the latter chapters of this book. Her behavior was made worse by the fact that a big deal was made about her education and her profession early in the story.

The second book in the Whittaker brothers’ trilogy is the story of Jace, the youngest brother, who is a bartender in New York City. For the past few years he’s watched Celia when she stops by his bar for a glass of wine after putting in long days as an associate at a high powered law firm. After a particularly harrowing day (which may have involved pitching pastries at her ex) Celia steps into the bar out of the rain and somehow ends up taking Jase home with her. Things are going great until Jace takes a phone call from his brother, Trent, and Celia overhears him telling Trent he’ll be taking his fiancée with him to Trent’s wedding in Chicago. Once Jace gets a chance to explain to Celia that he’s actually not engaged to another woman, he convinces Celia to pretend to be his fiancée and go with him to his brother’s wedding. Should be an interesting trip since Trent fired Jace from his company years ago and things have been strained between the brothers ever since.

The fake fiancé theme is popular, but this work stands out for its excellent story construction, the endearing, delightful characters, and a writing style that makes the story flow seamlessly and keeps the reader’s attention from the first page to the last. Added to that is just the right touch of humor, a good dose of emotion to tug at the ol’ heartstrings and enough yummy chemistry that you’ll probably be able to skip your cardio workout for the day. I was able to read an advance copy of this book and found it to be fun, witty, and all around fantastic! Jace may be my favorite brother yet (sorry Trent) but I can’t wait to read Luke’s story. If you haven’t read anything by this author yet, this book is a great place to start, although Bigshot Boss was equally as good. With each book I read from this author, she moves higher up on my list of favorites. She has a knack for drawing you into this imaginary world, making you a part of the story, and leaving you wanting more. This is definitely a one click winner!

Celia has just broken her engagement after catching her fiance cheating on her in the office. After an emotional confrontation, their mutual boss tells he to take two weeks off to get back under control. Upset, she goes to her favorite bar for comfort food and the great scenery. The bartender there, Jace, is super hot and seems interested in her. When she gets brave/drunk enough to put the moves on him, he agrees to go home with her. As they are getting hot and heavy in her apartment, he gets a phone call from his brother inviting him to his brother's wedding. Feeling at a disadvantage, Jace agrees to come and bring his fiance. Celia is incensed that he is engaged and kicks him out.
A couple of days later after the rest of his family has heard about his "engagement", he decides he has to tell Celia the truth. She listens to his explanation and to his proposition. He wants her to come with him to the wedding and act as his fiancee. In return she will get a free trip and lots of hot sex. Celia thinks she's crazy but agrees. Once they are in jace's hometown the deception goes great. His family happily accepts her as part of the family. Celia even starts to feel a little guilty. She doesn't want the "engagement" to end.
This is a great fake fiancee book. I loved the family dynamics in Jace's family. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this story! It was a fun read with good characters and a well written story. Celia has just had a hard break up with her fiance after catching him cheating on her in the copy room at work. Jace has not been close to his brothers for years after an incident that happened about 10 years ago. His brother is now getting married and has invited him back to the wedding. Celia and Jace know each other because Celia goes into the bar where Jace bar tends fairly regularly. They are finally giving in the the chemistry that is between them when Jace gets the phone call to go to the wedding. He doesn't want his brothers to still think of him as immature and not having his life together and so he says he has a fiance. Celia and Jace end up making a deal that works for both of them with Celia playing at his fiance while they back in Chicago (Jace's hometown). I liked how the story progressed and played out. It had a good pace that let us get to know the characters while they built their relationship, without even realizing it. I liked both Celia and Jace. The sex was explicit and definitely plays a part in the story, which makes total sense with the deal that gets made. There is a little bit of conflict that has to be dealt with as well. I liked the character growth that we get to see and just enjoyed the read. There was plenty going on to keep my attention and keep me entertained.

Great story you'll have trouble putting down!

Celia agrees to pose as sexy bartender Jace's fiance while he goes back to Chicago for his brother Trent's wedding. And in return he promises to make sure she gets more than her fair share of orgasms daily. It doesn't sound like too bad of a plan. I mean she WAS told to take a couple weeks off work to cool off. Although that may have had something to do with a minor melt down she had while at work, and the fact she was caught by her boss using muffins as projectiles towards her ex in their office break room. All warranted mind you. But I digress...

Everything sounds easy enough. That is until the chemistry between her and Jace starts getting hotter every time their together, and everything starts feeling just so comfortable with his family. She likes them...they like her... everything just feels so comfortable, and real. But it's not real. And their time together has an expiration date. So what happens when their time expires? Or they can't pull this charade off and everything ends even sooner than expected. Will they go their separate ways when they get back home? Or can they actually start something real?

I definitely recommend giving this one a shot. I'm happy I did...Even though I read this one a little out of order since this one's the 2nd book in the series. Next up, reading about Luke's brothers Trent and Luke!

I was given a copy by Exclusive ARC.

OMG how I loved this book. I was intrigued by the blurb and it did not disappoint. I am curious about the name though because Jace didn’t seem to filthy to me. The guy on the cover is hot, but not actually what I pictured Jace like in my head.

The chemistry between Jace and Celia is obvious from the very beginning. I could tell that they were what the other needed. She needed wild and he needed stable. Match made in heaven.

The story line did follow a rather predictable road but the characters were so good that it was easy to dismiss. I love that both of them have cats named Steve. As they spend more and more time together you can see/feel their love for each other growing. Around half way I was so mad at both of them, that I kept saying if this book doesn’t have a happy ending I will scream.

Jace was so attentive to everything she said that it was almost too much. He remembered a comment she made about a ring and went and found that ring. Holy Crap what guy does that after a week. The sex scenes were good without being raunchy. I like that book focused more on their falling in love than their falling in bed.

His brothers and her friend were great side characters. I would like to read a book about Luke and Rori. Maybe Luke and Rori together?

I would definitely give this 5 stars.

I admit I was a bit hesitant to read Jace and Celia’s story after reading the slender of Bigshot Boss. Although this can be read by itself I strongly suggest reading ‘Bigshot Boss’ first, since a lot of issues this couple deals with ties into Jace’s back story and why he is living in New York in the first place. This story was incredibly hard to put down the chemistry between these two was effortlessly written and spilled off the pages. While I wanted to shake Jace out of his self-depreciation, I understood where he was coming from it was both maddening and relatable. Celia was pleasantly snarky and strong throughout the book. It was refreshing to see someone react the way a real life person would in her position with her ex. I loved being able to laugh with her instead of feeling awkward over reading about another female’s breakdown. Cat Carmine did a spectacular job writing this book from both character’s point of view and as I mentioned previously I was hesitant it wouldn’t live up to the first book; I actually love this story so much more and can’t wait to read about Luke. This author is a breath of fresh air, she’s talented and it makes reading enjoyable. If you haven’t “One Clicked” this book yet then do so you won’t regret it.

Celia is fairly certain her life can't get any worse. She finds her fiance in a compromising position and pushes him to the curb. She throws muffins at him in her frustration and his cockiness and is put on probation from her law job and the bar tender she has wanted to hook up with is telling his brother he has a fiancé right after the slept together. UGH!
Jace has moved to new York the get away from his brothers after he screwed something up and he is not really sure that his family will ever see him as anything but a screw-up. He ha had his eye on Celia for awhile and after finally getting to be with her screws it up so badly. Maybe his family was right.
Jace needs to go home for his brother's wedding but he just lied and said he has a fiancé. Will Celia play his fake fiance so he can save face with his family?
What happens when what was supposed to be fake turns into something a bit more.
Can Jace and Celia overcome their past and see that they are right for each other?
If you're a fan of the fake series storylines this one is for you. If you just like a sweet romance pick it up too.

Well! Whew what a whirlwind of romance, sweet gestures, family and steamy bedroom scenes!

Jace is living in NYC as a bartender. He and his brothers had a falling out years ago when he worked for them. Eventually he got fired and he moved away. And now Trent is getting married and asked him to come. So he says sure and that he is bringing his fiancé. Except he doesn’t have one. Claire just found out her ex-fiancé was cheating on her so after an embarrassing situation at work with him, she is on paid leave. She meanders to her favorite bar with her favorite bartender, Jace. Maybe she will actually do something about her crush on him. So she does and she takes him home and it’s bliss. Except she is pulled into a situation where she has to pretend she is Jace’s fiancé. The only good that can come out of this are those steamy bedroom moments. However, they end up finding things about themselves they never thought of before. And Jace has to face his family for the first time in 10 years.

It was a quick fun read. Everything moves too fast for me. But it’s fiction so you gotta just go with it.

Standalone Sequel To Bigshot Boss

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, Filthy Fiancé By Cat Carmine.

What a marvelous book. I think even better that Bigshot Boss and I loved it. Really well put together with, laughter, love, smokin' hot sex, bad boy bartender, sweet and sexy lawyer, an incident with muffins, brotherly love and heartbreak that has a beautiful HEA.

Celia is not having a good day, so what better way to deal with it than to have a drink or 3, a yummy grilled cheese and take your smokin' hot bartender home with you for a few volcanic orgasms. Poor Jace, he goes from on top of the world, going home with Celia, to a pile of poo, Celia getting pissed off and kicking him out of her apartment before the deal is sealed. Now, he has his brother's wedding to go to, they think he has a Fiancé but he actually doesn't. Luckily Jace explains and makes amends with Celia and she agrees to go with Jace to the wedding as his Fake Fiancé. Uh oh, sounds like disaster waiting to happen. Think they can pull it off?

Lawyer Celia Jeffries gets put on leave after a meltdown at work and heads to dive bar Veneer, the perfect place to drown her sorrows, especially if Jace, the sexiest bartender in Manhattan, is working. Newly single Celia has fantasized about Jace for years and asks him “What time is your shift over?” Bartender Jace Whittaker has had his eye on Celia for a couple of years and thought he’d won the lottery when Celia asked him what time his shift was finished. Jace asks Celia to be his fake fiancée for one week at his estranged brother Trent's wedding in Chicago, and in exchange, he's offering mind-blowing sex all week. Celia agrees to be Jace's fake fiancée but they soon start developing real feelings for each other ... too bad they're too afraid to admit that they want more. When Celia cracks and tells Jace “I should never have agreed to pretend to be your fiancee” and is confronted by an angry Trent who overheard the whole thing, she runs away and refuses to answer his phone calls. Will Jace be able to win Celia back?

Cat Carmine delivers a funny, suspenseful and steamy story that you won't be able to put down

Jace is the youngest Whittaker brother and the fuck up of the family. He bartends in a seedy bar while his two older brothers run a furniture empire. When he gets invited to his brother's wedding, he can't resist telling his mother he will be bringing his fiancee along. Celia is a recently single lawyer who just laid off her firm. She's had a crush on Jace the bartender for a while and accepts to come with him in Chicago for a week to play the fiancee part in exchange for a week of mind-blowing sex with the man.

I liked Jace and Celia's relationship and the way it developped. Even if it was over a short period of time, it felt natural. I loved seeing Trent and Hannah's wedding and how their relationship evolved. The flight bit and the proposal were a bit overkill for me. Both of these actions felt like they were rushed and the HEA would've still been present without as big a commitment after only a week together. I'm a big fan of the fake relationship trope so I really enjoyed this one.

I loved that this book has humor, deception, hot chemistry, steamy scenes and drama. It made the book very readable and I just had to read through to see what happened next. The main characters are so well described and has such hot chemistry that you just has to cheer for them to get a HEA.
The way Cat Carmine has written the book made me feel I was part of the book. It came alive. I love the humor which is there from page one.
I really cannot decide who is the winner in the deal between Jace and Celia. A week with steamy hot sex, who says no to that?
This book has a lot of aspects and I love that it has a storyline and not just about sex. It has a lot of humor in it and is very well written.
This book is fast paced and in spite of that it seams that it could be a real story.
So I can only say that I loved it and think it is a must read.

Cat Carmine is a new author I've discovered! Fake Fiance is about Jace, a bartender in New York City, and Celia, an associate at a big law firm. Jace only knows Celia from her frequent stops in after work, but one day they end up going home together after a particularly rough day. Jace and his brother Trent have strained relations, so when Jace finds out Trent is getting married, he impulsively lies, but now he's in a dilemma and needs a fake fiancée to take with him to with him to Trent’s wedding in Chicago.

This book had plenty of sweet, flirty and dirty moments. I loved the humor and the amount of angst and emotional twists, just enough to keep it real. The story flowed and kept me engaged from page one, and their attraction was undeniably strong. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book

I received an ARC copy for voluntarily reviewing Filthy Fiance by Cat Carmine.

I loved this book. Even though they had known each other for a couple years because she would go into the bar where he was bartending at least once a month they never did anything more than talk like you would with any bartender. The way she ends up his fake fiancé is funny because they really don't know anything about each other. They spend the week before the wedding with his family and start falling for each other but neither says anything because they are afraid the other doesn't feel the same way. What happens when his brother finds out that this engagement is a lie? Do they work things out before the wedding or does she go back home without telling him how she really feels? Does he repair things with his family?

After a bad day at the law office Celia retreats to her favorite neighborhood dive bar to drown her sorrows. Distressed over finding out her fiance was cheating and being passed over for a promotion had pushed her over the edge. Who better to make you forget your woes but the gorgeous bartender,
A night at her place and a deal sealed to be his fake fiance at his brother's wedding in return for a week of hot sex. This is the second book in the Whitaker Brothers series and is full of steamy sex, lots of humor, some drama and chemistry that's off the charts. You'll need to read the book to find out if the fake becomes real. A well written book with an engaging story line and captivating characters. This book had it all.  Sex.  Laughter.  A little drama. Enough of everything to keep the pages turning!  Celia has just had a major life change and needs some distraction. It comes in the form of her very hot bartender, Jace. Jace is about to go face a family he hasn't seen in years. But decides to make up a fake fiance before going. Now who would fill in for that job?  Orgasms in exchange for lying for a week?  Shouldn't be too hard right?  Loved this book. I voluntarily reviewed am advanced copy of this book.

Jace's brother is getting married and in a moment of pure panic he tells his brother he is bringing his fiancé Celia, now he needs Celia to play along

This well written romance has a great storyline, fantastic cast of characters (as much as I love billionaire stories, Jace is a normal man, albeit a sexy one, which is refreshing).

There are misunderstandings and drama as well as red hot sexy scenes, I really enjoyed this first class read

After catching her fiance cheating, Celia starts to look at what her life is like. Jace has always been the screw up child and is determined to try to prove his family wrong. She needs great sex, he needs a fiance. Will these two be able to keep their feelings out of the deal? Will Jace be able to prove to his family that he is not the mess up?

Hot book! Loved Jace and Celia! These two were opposites, but yet fit together perfectly. Loved when Celia started to live for herself. Great book and definitely a hot read!

I truly enjoyed reading Filthy Fiancé. I am not a fan of books written in the first person, but this book did a great job of still portraying what the other character was feeling or doing while in first person. The story line was interesting but kept me reading. There were a lot of emotions in this book and twist that I didn’t always see coming. I did not know this was the 2nd book in the series until I wrote this review, it can totally be read as a stand alone. I would absolutely read another book by Cat Carmine.

This book was given to me as an exclusive ARC

As soon as I started this book I couldn't put it down, seriously, in the first pages Celia is throwing muffins at her ex. Needing to blow off steam she heads to a local dive bar and ends up getting Jace to go home with her. After a series of events she ends up in Chicago with Jace for her brothers wedding and she is pretending to be his fiance. This was such a good book. I liked it so much I needed to go find the first one of the series to read.

I'll admit, I'm a sucker for a fake marriage/engagement story, and this one is better than most. Jace impulsively lies about having a fiance, and Celia just happens to be on hand to help bail him out of trouble by helping him sell the lie to his family. Lots of hilarity ensues, with great chemistry between the main characters and wonderful secondary characters. This story just grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go until everyone is enjoying the HEA! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Celia is very straight laced, she has her job as a corporate lawyer. She thought she was happy until she caught her fiance with someone else. Now she's spreading her wings and doing things she would never of dreamed of...... where does she end up???

Jace is a bit of a bad boy (swoon) he works in a bar and is very popular with the ladies. He's had his eye on Celia for awhile and when he finds out she's single...... Well........

This was a first book for me from this author but loved it from start to finish.
