Part-time student, full-time Soul Reaper, Ichigo is one of the chosen few guardians of the afterlife.
Ichigo Kurosaki never asked for the ability to see ghosts--he was born with the gift. When his family is attacked by a Hollow--a malevolent lost soul--Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping the tortured spirits themselves find peace. Find out why Tite Kubo's Bleach has become an international manga smash-hit!
As the war between the Soul Reapers and Quincies heads for a climactic ending, Kyoraku and Nanao battle against a bizarre enemy calling himself a god. And as Ichigo heads for Yhwach's fortress, he'll need the help of his friends if he hopes to succeed.
Noriaki Kubo, known professionally as Tite Kubo ( 久保帯人), is a Japanese manga artist and character designer. His manga series Bleach (2001–2016) had over 130 million copies in circulation as of 2022.
"Do you know when miracles happen? If a miracle occurs in a meaningless moment, people will not recognize it as a miracle. "Oh." "How lucky." "Well that was strange." That's all they'll think. (...) A miracle is a miracle because it occurs in a crisis!" [Valkyrie]
I don't think this series will ever stop putting me into a completely stunned and mind-blowing state. I wonder how many rollercoasters of emotions I could get through before finally exploding!
Since with BLEACH's Volume 72 we're close to the final, things begin to wrap up and the long time sought answers are being uncovered. As usual, the book is is full of mesmerizing visuals and so many twists and turns that it's sometimes hard to comprehend what had actually happened. And, as usual, the author created a perfect balance between the light/fun and the heavy/serious moments. As a reader, especially a reader who had absolutely no idea what will happen, I was so engaged into the action that I had a hard time putting the book down once I started reading it.
"I didn't know that to take up a sword and fight would be this terrifying." [Nanao]
Since the book began with the continuation of the Nanao and Kyoraku vs Lille Barro fight, I will also start with them. I already sang my praises for these two in my previous review, so I will stop myself from doing it again, but what I want to say is that I LOVE how human-like and relatable Nanao is. She's a Soul Reaper, yes. A lieutenant at that, also yes. But despite being a Soul Reaper and a lieutenant, she wasn't a fighter material. She never had any contact with any of the opponents, always standing in her captain's shadow, ready to support him if needed. She was more like an assistant than a warrior. She didn't even had any Zanpakuto, like the other Soul Reapers. She was more like a tactician than the one wielding a sword. The enemy's recent activities and her captain's need of help forced her into action.
"It hurts... I didn't know a cut would hurt this bad. It hurts. I'm scared. My feet... won't move." [Nanao]
I bet she wasn't ready. She came planning on playing once again supportive role to her captain, but ended up playing as the first violin, with the silent support and comfort coming from her captain. Never before she stood in the harm's way, so she had no idea how hurtful it is to take a blow. Had no idea how it's like to stand in front of the enemy, not knowing how he will attack and how she will defend herself. She was a person who was always prepared for everything (she had to, with a captain like Kyoraku), and she was forced into a situation that she couldn't be prepared for. It had to be not only scary. It had to be absolutely horrifying. But she stood in front of her enemy, scared out of her mind and screaming in pain in her head (and also fully aware of her clan's curse) ready for a battle, trying her hardest to defend her captain and her home. She's someone who never thought of being a hero, but became one in the greatest need. I really, really loved it and I love her character. Also I want to say that I love her parents! Their scene at the beginning of the book was so cute, I wish we could get more time with them (and with Kyoraku being a teasing little brother) 😭
"Powerless! Powerless! Isn't it frightening to be powerless?! But do not lament. No matter how much you lament... there will be no miracle!" [Valkyrie]
I had a feeling that Valkyrie wouldn't be an easy opponent, suspecting that he also has some god-like powers and some tricks in his sleeve, but damn, it still caught me of guard. How powerful one person can be that managed to beat up a group assembled out of captains, lieutenants and vizards?? I sat there with my mouth agape, because what? What?! How could they so easily be brought down, especially characters like Byakuya, Rukia and Renji, who went through a Squad 0 training?? And the vizards?? Hello?? I always thought of them as powerful, but Valkyrie threw them away like they were nothing more than irritating flies to him. I couldn't believe my eyes! I hope that they all just got caught of guard and that they will quickly shake up and stand up again. Anyways, things do not look good for them and I'm scared. I don't want anyone to die! We're so close to ending, we have to stay alive, guys, okay?!
"You say the strangest things. If they can't move, why just not choke them or something?" "Are you being serious? Bambi said the same thing to me a long time ago. It made me cringe then, and it makes me cringe hearing it again."
Askin quickly became my favorite Sternritter and my love for him only grows (despite nearly killing Ichigo and his friends.) He's also an incredibly powerful opponent, someone nearly impossible to kill, but, despite all that, he does not feel intimidating in the slightest. He feels like a chill dude who would love to be anywhere else than in the Wahrwelt, just sitting on a couch and drinking a tea. He's also someone, who, being aware of his strength, never considered an option for himself to lose a fight - but this is where his battle with Yoruichi is clearly going. His shocked face expressions made my day much brighter 😂 It's not like they guy doesn't have any chance at winning, he's practically impossible to kill after all, but hey, his opponent is Yoruichi and Yoruichi is a true badass.
"So you're recovered enough to get up. That sure was fast. You heard us, right? Go on ahead. I'll catch up." "Okay. Be careful, Yoruichi." "Who do you think you're talking to? As if I'd lose."
I don't know what you all are thinking, but I totally believe in Yoruichi. Her confidence doesn't come just from thin air, she's one of the strongest BLEACH female characters for a reason - and she is surely proving her position in her battle against Askin (with a little help, though). She's truly a goddess of thunder, a wild cat that cannot be tamed (as long as you are not Urahara who knows her too well), a true warrior that cannot lose. I always loved her character and I love her battles. She's a Soul Reaper, no doubt about it, but she has such a unique battle skills that she doesn't need to use a sword (I'm not sure if she even has one). She's truly awesome and I can't wait for a continuation of her battle against Askin.
"You're gonna tell me, Ishida, why you chose to take the quincies' side and why you're trying to fight us!" "What will you do about it?" "If your reasons make sense, I'll fight you or whatever and smack you till you come to your senses!" "And if they don't make sense?" "What d'you think? I'm gonna smack you!" "So you'll hit me either way? What's the matter with you?"
Here we go, this is the highlight of Volume 72 for me. The long awaited Ichigo and Ishida meeting. At first, their scenes gave me the highest level of anxiety, and then all I could feel was relief. It was like a huge burden was taken out of my shoulders and I could finally breathe. Why? It's because Ishida finally revealed his reason of joining Yhwach's forces, which means that everything finally made sense, which also means that Ishida stopped being an enemy and became an ally again. The world felt right, everything felt right again (just like when Jungkook went live yesterday - it was an overwhelming relief and overwhelming happiness like that). I finally made it here, guys! I am here! The war is over (not really, but soon enough!)! Everything's all right! We're still having enemies to deal with, but everything's all right! Yay! 🤗
With his friends being all busy with their opponents, Ichigo, in the company of Orihime, heads out to the Wahrwelt palace to find Yhwach, challenge him and win, for the sake of the whole universe. This the moment that everything he'd been through led to. But does he stand a chance against such a monster like Yhwach? Will his friends who - most of them, at least - are against god-like beings, survive their battles? We will see in the next volume! (there are only two volumes left! I can't believe this! 😭)
Some things I need to talk about: (as usual, be aware of the spoilers)
~ I love how dedicated Kyoraku was through, well, his whole life to Nanao's parents. And I love how supportive he and Nanao were to each other. They are each other's true strength and comfort. ~ The fact that Lille Barro got cut in half and still survived scared the hell out of me. If Valkyrie will also be cut and also survive this, I will scream. ~ The Kira entrance was badass, and I was happy to see him, honestly, but I don't understand how could he still be alive with a hole on his body 🤨 ~ Byakuya was RUTHLESS against Valkyrie, damn. It was like his Soul Society arc version came back (but much stronger). He's a brutal fighter, but also so incredibly graceful. He's the only one who can pull it off 😆 ~ The image of Shinji being busy trying to save Hinamori from flying away and with Valkyrie's enormous hand behind him was sick! I was scared out of my mind! ~ I find interesting that Pernida and Valkyrie are the only Sternritters who had their powers already, before Yhwach intervened with their lives. But is what Askin said true? Or was it just a tale? We know that he was right about Pernida (according to Mayuri's research), but does it mean that the Valkyrie info is also true? If so, how the hell is this possible?? ~ Askin just chilling, without a care observing Valkyrie's fight and filling Ichigo with info about Yhwach's guardians while Ichigo... just helplessly lay there. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. ~ Askin definitely didn't expect Yoruichi's brother's fist land on his face, lmao 🤣 P.S. I wasn't the only one who thought that the brother is a girl! Askin thought so too! ~ I can't believe how big of monsters the Sternritters in general are (when it comes to the power scale, and, in most of the cases, behaviour). ~ WHERE IS NEL?! WHAT HAPPENED TO HANATARO, HISAGI, SENTARO AND KIYONE?! DID THEY GOT A MEDICAL TREATMENT?! DID GRIMMJOW GET A MEDICAL TREATMENT?! I'M SCARED! ~ I was so happy to see the vizards using the Hollows masks again! 🙌 P.S. I love how they always fight together. ~ Toshiro's back!! Yay!! 🙌 ~ WHY WAS RYOUKEN CUTTING HIS DEAD WIFE'S BODY???????? That scene shocked me to the core! 😰 ~ Why was Jugram with Yhwach's powers more intimidating than Yhwach ever was?? P.S. I love how fast Ishida wiped out Jugram's crazy smile off his face, go, Ishida, go! 💪 ~ The way Ichigo and Ishida interacted brought both a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. It was so Ichigo and Ishida coded, and I missed their scenes so much! 😭 And the smiles they exchanged made my heart warm all over! 😭 ~ Orihime crying in relief because of Ishida's return - girl, same! 😭 ~ "Do you like un-glamourous work, Ganju?" "Ichigo can only see the oath he is on. That's how he is. Our job is to clean up everything in the castle so we can pave a path back for Ichigo!" - TEARS 😭 ~ Urahara and Yoruichi are such goofballs together! I love them! ~ Yhwach's five Soul Reaper special threats got revealed! I already knew who it is, and they make sense.
I really enjoyed this volume of Bleach! i feel like it is its big comeback. so many shocking and exciting and cool things happen in it. i think all the hype of having not read any Bleach chapters in so long really helped out with making me enjoy reading this volume too. and also the hype of reading it aloud with my sister. and also all the hype/comedy from other bleach reviewers on youtube. i would have been fully willing to give this vol a 5 star rating if the last chapter hadnt completely RUINED the vibes! SMH! it was just full of ass and vulgar/unfunny jokes. it really ruined the momentum. but other then that, i have no complaints. i mean the pacing, the matchups, the cousin-brother bromance between ISHIDAA and KUROSAKII! it was all so hype. i really hope Kubo keeps this hype going for the following vols, otherwise i will bust a gut with frustration! i just hate it when i can see Kubo's former glory right within the palms of my hands and he throws it away to satisfy his strange sense of humor. DO NOT DISAPPOINT ME!!
The only thing keeping me reading this series is the fact that I'm only two volumes away from the end, to be honest. The story and character arcs have been trash for ages.
The upshot is that we did get some scenes with my forever-favorites, Kisuke and Yoruichi. I wasn't a fan of their execution (gotta love that thong-wearing, full-panel ass shot of our strong female warrior, right? jesus), but . . . eh. I take what little this series has to offer, I guess.
Everyone could’ve seen that plot twist coming a mile away, but the fights? Oof. I wish we would’ve gotten more of Urahara throughout the manga, but I’m glad we are still seeing him in action now.
What an amazing volume! So many fights, so much humour, a lot of feels and the plot twist everyone probably hoped for but feared wouldn't happen (at least I did).
Urahara and Yoruichi together are probably my favourite pair to team up 🥰
A good volume but it has the ending of the Lille/Shunsui fight in it which is just mid. We see the ground laid for the Asking and Kisuke fight and some meaningful interactions between Ichigo and Uryu, but this volume was more of a ground layer for the volume that follows more than anything else so there's not too much to say.
Nothing like splitting the "Soul King" into multiple segments to make all these enemies seem relevant in the grand scheme of things. This volume continues the countless battles that are taking place as continues to highlight the unimpressive quality of this final story-arc. Take Gerard's powers and how multiple Soul Reapers struggle to take him down. Come on...
And then there's Uryu's predictable twist that has no shock value whatsoever. What mangaka Tite Kubo attempts to accomplish with his character feels like a last measure to try and make it interesting too.
Let's not talk about the fan service that Yoruishi serves as in the end as Kisuke unlocks her hidden ability that we have never heard of till now...
Another great volume. Things are really heating up toward the end, I dont think two volumes will be enough for me to feel like it was complete. We will see.
Summary: Nanao defeats the sniper quincy. But part of him gets away and exclaims it will get revenge on Shunsui. Renji, Byakuya and Rukia fight "reio's heart" aka thor quincy. Chad and Orihime join ichego in his fight and end up getting trapped, Yoruichi shows up frees them and say she'll fight the quincy. Her brother comes to help her. Toshiro shows up to fight the thor quincy. Uryu reveals to ichego and the team that hes actually trying to take down the quincys! Uryu tells them to go on while he fights the second in command. Ichego and friends go to fight Yhwach before he regains his power. Chad stops to fights some monsters and Gangu shows up to help. Urahara shows up to help Yoruichi in battle. Yoruichi turns half cat and almost defeats the quincy, but then he powers up.
The massive cast, the never ending succession of unexpected power-ups.... They fight and fight, and fight and fight and fight. There was a brief bit of characters I cared about doing something but it’s soon back to the futile slugfest.
The God of Thunder is kind of interesting, but all those never ending fights. :/ Yay for Ishida on the side he belongs. :D It's time he appears again.
Overall, I'm sad that I'm not interested in those "small fights" all over. End it with a big bang and not fights all over the place. This probably reads different if you can read the whole arc in one go and not week by week.
Ok. Este arco esta tomando un giro totalmente diferente que a los que he visto durante todo el manga. La intensidad en cada una de las batallas aumenta cada vez más y lo mismo pasa con las muertes de ciertos personajes, es cada vez más explicita.
Given that Manga, and especially Shonen is split up into bigger arcs as composed to volumes I will be analyzing and reviewing this by Arc. I also reread this manga over the span of 2 months, some days reading as much as 100 chapters a day. It would be quite tedious for me to review each 7-8 chapter volume. So this will be copy and pasted throughout all of the 74 manga volumes. That being said, if you're looking at this without having viewed the series...spoiler warning. I don't recap anything, but I also mention things that happen. If you want me to answer the question "Should I pick this up?" Yes. Even if you stop at the end of the Soul Society Arc. It's worth it.
Karakura Town Arc - Chapters 1-56- Rating: 7/10 (The official page lumps this in with the Soul Society Arc however I feel as if they are two very separate arcs with two very separate themes) - A fun introduction. -An interesting premise on the idea of ghosts and demons (Hollows) -Does a good job of introducing the characters and I especially enjoyed the love for characters like Chad, Orihime and Uryu as these characters would later lose more and more spotlight as the series went on. -It is a bit of a monster of the week. When it works, like with Chad's introduction story. It works. But Characters like Don Kanonji felt superficial and very gimmicky. Which, fair. I didn't enjoy them as much.
Soul Society Arc - Chapters 57-182 - Rating: 10/10 -The height of Bleach -Establishes an afterlife seemingly perfectly. Later on revealed to be full of plot holes and never fleshed out but hey! That's not an issue in THIS arc. The fights are top tier, the themes of Ichigo owing a life debt to Rukia and his passion and determination to rise above literally God's army is inspiring and to this day is why I love Ichigo so much. He doesn't have some grandiose plan. He doesn't have a major goal to accomplish. He is a protector by heart, losing his mother has made him sour to failing to protect those he cares about and he'll do anything in his power never to feel that helpless again. Very powerful stuff. -The twist near the end of this arc is revolutionary and would make waves for the next 200 chapters onward. A perfect ending and set up for the forthcoming arc. -The only issues I have for this arc would be Ichigo's lightning speed progression. The guy goes from being able to barely defeat a third seat to besting multiple captains in roughly 100 or less chapters. I get that that is the point and him defeating captains was more of a struck of luck, but progression and pacing wise it feels very unearned and a factor of "for the plot he needed to be this strong" It only seems as fast as it is because Ichigo's progression slows drastically down for the rest of the story moving foreword so it's only now that I make that criticism. -Also, and this will be an issue in most Shonen. There are 13 Captains with 13 Vice Captains and seats that branch all the way to 10 I believe? Regardless, there's a fudge ton of characters that are introduced here and it can get a little jarring at times. Luckily, Kubo does a great job at making their designs and characters unique despite such a large cast.
Hueco Mundo Arc - Chapters 183-423 - Rating 7/10 -This is another arc where personally I would split it up into two separate arcs. But for the sake of this review I will simply refer to the first half of the arc and the later half of the arc. First Half 9/10. Second Half. 5/10. -The first half of this arc is a great continuation of the last. Ichigo now struggles with his inner demons and it affects his ability to protect the ones he loves. We are also introduced to a deadly unknown new villains. The Arrancars/Espada to this day remain one of my favorite villain factions in all of manga enemies. -Just so you're aware I would say the first half of this arc ends right around the point of Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow is one of the first Arrancar that Ichigo faces. And he's also one of two Espada that he faces three times. The conclusion of that fight shows Ichigo conquering his inner demons. Where Grimmjow is very much fighting to establish himself. Grimmjow has to fight Ichigo to prove to his fallen comrades that he is as good as he says he is. He doesn't care about Aizen, he doesn't care about the rest of the Espada. It is very personal for him. For Ichigo, Orohime is within his grasp of saving and he views this as his "final" battle. It's my favorite fight in all of Bleach. -However, this is where things start to take a bit of dip in quality in my opinion. We had a goal and we were striving towards that goal. Each character of the original cast coming to repay the debt they made to their friend who had risked her life to save them in the Soul society arc. But somewhere along the way it seems we just had a fighter fest. Captains would face enemies with no themes or character revelations. The Espadas got a little light but nothing that made their fights compelling. You almost just feel bad for the Espada as they were monsters turned into a military force by an unstoppable tyrant. But even that wasn't enough to make half of the fights interesting. Now, that's with knowing the outcome. These fights played little importance in the larger scheme of things. Where at least in the Hueco Mundo fights each match up had the protagonists striving for a goal. Rukia to defeat Aaroneiro to free her former superiors soul. Byakuya to defend Rukia. Renji and Uryu teamwork. Nel to protect Ichigo and get revenge on Nnoitra. Whereas Stark fought Kyoraku.....cause.....and Hitsugaya fought Halibel because Water vs Ice would be cool. -This leaves me to the end. I won't say it wasn't satisfying that Ichigo was able to defeat Aizen. And yes, I do feel like his new power was earned. 3 months of training. But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.
The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10 -A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad. -When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it. -That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.
The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10 -And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing. -That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections. -Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty. -There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming. -Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights. -It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.
This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.
Bleach, Vol. 72 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (653–663) of the on-going manga series with an additional bonus story.
With the power of Nanao Ise's Zanpakutō, Shinken Hakkyōken, she and Shunsui Sōzōsuke Jirō Kyōraku are able to reflect Lille Barro's strongest attack back at him. This severely injures the Quincy and sends him falling down to the Seireitei, where he is attacked by Izuru Kira.
Meanwhile, Gerard Valkyrie is being defeated by the combined might of several Soul Reapers. However, Gerard activates the power of his Schrift, The Miracle, which converts all the damage he has taken into power, turning him into an unstoppable giant who defeats nearly all of the remaining Soul Reapers until attacked by the remaining Vizored and partially frozen by Tōshirō Hitsugaya.
Askin Nakk Le Vaar, who has defeated Ichigo Kurosaki, mentions that Gerard is believed to be the heart of the Soul King. Orihime Inoue and Yasutora "Chad" Sado try to help Ichigo, but Askin defeats them as well until Yoruichi Shihōin intervenes and attacks him, allowing Orihime to heal Ichigo and for the three humans to continue to the palace. Yoruichi is soon joined by her brother, Yūshirō Sakimune Shihōin as the two fight Askin together. Yūshirō and Yoruichi lose, until Kisuke Urahara appears to aid them, forcing Askin to activate his Vollständig.
At the palace, Uryū Ishida is confronted by Jugram Haschwalth, who has temporarily switched powers with Yhwach. Thanks to The Almighty, Haschwalth knows that Uryū will betray them and attacks him until Ichigo, Orihime, and Sado arrive. Uryū reveals to them he planned to blow up the palace and Yhwach with it, but now tells his three friends to kill a vulnerable Yhwach while he holds off Haschwalth.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The tankōbon continues the second invasion of the Seireitei by the Sternritter. It finally returns the main focus back on Ichigo Kurosaki's group within the former Soul King's Palace and it is revealed that Uryū Ishida was a mole within the Sternritter and plans to destroy them, but he was discovered, and urges Ichigo Kurosaki's group to fight Yhwach while he is currently vulnerable.
All in all, Bleach, Vol. 72 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.
VOLUME 72: CHAPTER 653-663 Arc 11: The Thousand Year Blood War
Kyouraku and Nanao managed to defeat Barro. Barro falls below. He still not dead yet suddenly, Kira appears and kill him. Valkyrie was defeates by Byakuya and Renji. Byakuya decapacitated Valkyrie's head. Suddenly, Valkyrie is revived and become big. He said that any damage he took will be converted into increasing his size. Valkyrie true identity is the heart of Soul King. The Visored joined the battle. As the fight getting intense, Toushiro come into the battle. He instantly used his Bankai.
At the same time, Ichigo was defeates by Nakk Le Vaar. Inoue and Chad trying to save Ichigo but they were caught by Nakk Le Vaar's Gift Ball. They were poisoned by Reishi that have been set up by Nakk Le Vaar. Yoruichi seem didn't effected by the Reishi poisoning. Yoruichi used Shunkou Raijin Senkei. Inoue take the opportunity to heal Ichigo and Chad. They then escaped. Yuushirou joined the fight. He used Shunkou Bakuen Musou. Nakk Le Vaar still standing as he adjusting his Reishi level.
In Quincy Castle, Haschwalt meet Uryuu and he was suspicious toward him. Suddenly, Ichigo appears. Uryuu's true intention is to destroy Wahrwelt using the destruction chips that made from Sanrei Glove and only responding to Uryuu's Reishi. While sleeping, Yhwach power will switch to Haschwalth. Uryuu will fight Haschwalth while Ichigo, Inoue and Chad will head straight to Yhwach's place. In the way, they were attacked by a giant statues. Chad stay to stop it while Ganju appears to help him.
Yuushirou was defeated and suddenly Urahara appears to help Yoruichi. According to Nakk Le Vaar, Urahara is one of the 5 Battle Potential: - Ichigo with his latent ability - Zaraki with his fighting power - Aizen with his reiatsu - Ichibe with his wisdom - Urahara with his unknown means
Urahara used an immunity to Yoruichi to let her walk again. Yoruichi used her special transformation; Shunkou: Kokubyou Senki. Yoruichi's reiatsu is changing 48 times per second. Nakk Le Varr cannot used Gift Ball on Yoruichi. He then used Vollständig: Hassein.
Nanao picks up the sword her captain has kept hidden from her, but she is momentarily unable to move, too frightened. But Shunsui has her back, as always. The defeated Quincy, Lille, falls into the Soul Society, to the amazement of the Soul Reapers, vowing to take revenge on Kyoraku. But Kira is not about to let that happen!
Meanwhile, Byakuya cuts the head off another Quincy, but as they prepare to go, something untoward happens. Turns out this guy is Stern Ritter M – for Miracle – and he is Gerard Valkyrie! The miracle is that not only did he not die, but he has become massive!
Ichigo seems to be down for the count, supposedly poisoned by Nakk le Vaar, but appearances can be deceiving. And in comes Yoruichi, who is determined to take le Vaar down a peg or two. And her little brother is right behind her. The Quincy tells Yoruichi that she can’t hurt him because he acquires immunity to everything. Hmm, what’s the solution to that?
Uryu returns to the Palace. Yhwach is sleeping, so Haschwalth has his powers. He confronts Uryu, proclaiming him a traitor, but Uryu says he has no evidence, so Haschwalth dares Ishida to prove he is no traitor. He has to kill Ichigo… in front of his friends. Has the moment of truth finally arrived?
So much happening, and only two volumes left! Everything needs to be resolved, but will it end well for our hero and his friends? One can only hope! Things can still go horribly wrong. I was worried about Shunsui but I think he’s okay, and Nanao was awesome! Watching Yoruichi in action was amazing, and the interaction between her and Kiskue was so cute! But most importantly, what I’ve been saying all along is about to be proven to be accurate, so huzzah! Anxious to see how this ends!
Overall, this volume has a good sense of balance. Not to mention, Ishida actually features a decent amount here, which is good because his whole presence and the convictions behind his choices, are severely lacking. I have yet to watch The Thousand Year Blood War Arc in anime form, but I am so glad that Tite is retconning, or at least, supplementing a lot of the emotional weight that is just not present in the narrative of his character. The finale to Kyoraku and Nanao's fight was beautiful and made me fall in love with Nanao. I used to be so indifferent towards her. But she's now one of the more human characters in this amazing franchise. As for Askin, he's the more intriguing of the Quincy's and his fight between Yoruichi and Urahara is a romp. This would have been a five star issue were it not for the conflicting feelings I have about Yoruichi's transformation.
This has gone on for too long. I hate how Kubo has nerfed every single drenaje character. Not Yoruichi being done like that by Urahara. Kubo really couldnt let a woman have a W by her own terms and without the help of a man all clutch. Yoruichi is supposed to be one of the most goated characters, wtf?
I also don't like how Uryu going back to normal wasn't a surprise. Not only has he barely been present, but I don't feel like there was any real tension or sense of betrayal by how short it lasted. Like I knew from the get-go, he was most likely a double agent to try and defeat and infiltrate everything himself. It feels like a wasted opportunity and overall just half-assed.
Chad, Orihime and Ganju are wasted as well. They haven't done anything of merit which is sad and a huge disservice to their characters. I'm tired of seeing Hitsugaya, Byaukaya, Kenpachi and Urahara literally show up out of nowhere last minute to sabe the day or have this ridiculous fight when there are so many other characters there for decoration. I love the Vizards and they haven't been used at all either.
Also, the way I visibly rolled my eyes when Kira showed up. Absolutely ridiculous. He should not be alive. Literally what was the point of killing him off then? This is frustrating to me. I love Bleach so much but there really is no defending this last arc. It's all over the place. I'm hoping they fix it in the anime somehow. There's so much that is just unsalvagable though.
I do love me some Grimjow though. I love the Arrancars. He gets 4 stars. Overall 3.8

We start off the volume with the end of Nano’s fight, which was incredible! I loved it! It was so great to see her finally use her zanpakuto.
Oh, and a couple volumes back we saw that Izuru is, in fact, not dead which made me so happy cause I love him! 🥰 Another character I love who is also back is Toshiro!! And he got his bankai back and I am so happy! 😭
Yoruichi and Urahara also pop in in this volume and they seem to have a trick up their sleeve. Hmmm. It’s very interesting.
And it finally happened—Ichigo and Uruyu finally face off.
Honestly, he deserves to be smacked either way for putting us through this 😩😂 But we do find out what the heck is going on and why Uruyu is doing the things he’s doing. And toward the end of the volume we come full circle with just the four original friends in battle: Ichigo, Uruyu, Orihime, and Chad. It was great!
I liked how we finally see Uryū’s plan revealed, however I was expecting much more from him than just a suicide bombing. I’m glad that we saw he was still an ally after all this time, and I liked seeing him briefly face off against Haschwalth. I liked seeing Yoruichi fight one of the Sternritter, but I was distracted by how much this volume sexualized her character. It felt kind of misplaced and random for such a pivotal moment near the end to use her character like that, I would have much rather seen her use her sword and seen her Shikai or Bankai, it would have been a much more satisfying reveal since we’ve never even seen her carry her sword before but we know she has one as a former Captain. While I like the pacing of this arc, this volume made me realize that we’re going so fast that we don’t get to properly explore some of the more interesting plot points and ideas, we really are racing towards the end.
