We all need help, at times, to aid us in the discovery of our purpose. What were we created to do on this earth. There are the words of Christ telling us what to do in the Great Commission, but we have other missions to accomplish, as well. This book is a great help in discovering what you are meant to do. If not, it is a great book to help you discover other things in your life that you can do! Well worth your time to read this book...I loved it!
I really enjoyed this book which takes a deep dive into an intimate and encomposing relationship with our Creator, ourselves and our fellow human beings.
Living on Purpose: Knowing God's Design for Your Life, doesn't just discuss God's plan for our lives, but also covers how we see ourselves in that plan and how we can relate to that plan and our contributions to humanity through His plan.
This book asks us to look deeper, be better, and give more ! Love, forgiveness, and investing into the future through mentoring is also given explicit focus!
The Purpose Recapped in the Book:
God is, He knows what we need, and the Scriptures are inspired instructions!
We should love God with all our hearts, mind, soul and strength! We have faith (BELIEVE), we repent of wrong-doings, and we listen for His guidance in our lives and we pray; while trusting Him with everything!
We should love ourselves, our spouses, as well as others, by promoting justice, providing for those less fortunate (widows, homeless and orphans); offering forgiveness, community, accountability - using our resources to make a difference (time, energy, experience & money) !
In loving ourselves; recognizing our strengths and weaknesses, taking care of our health physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally; using God's Word to shape decisions that we make, and forgiving ourselves for mistakes and poor choices!
In our golden years, trying to leave the world and life a little better off, by passing on our experinces and wisdom we've learned by mentoring, trying to leave a legacy and planning our days well, while also guiding others to do the same!
This book was not a quick read for me, it caused me to meditate on the Scriptures mentioned, to look into myself to inspect areas that needed change, while noting areas that I felt were on point.
This indepth book asks you to level-up your relationship with God, with yourself and Be more present in your life and community.
The book was well written and thought provoking. I am in the winter stage of my life, according to the example in the book. But I gained a new perspective on my previous seasons of my life and how I arrived where I am today. And look forward to my future purpose that God has planned for me.
I wish I had read this book in my Springtime. I could have planned better, understanding the why and learned more in preparation for summer. Now in the Autumn, I received A LOT of grace as I find myself better prepared for the Winter than I ought, based on a slew of bad decisions. God is good.
Condecending, crass, self righteous. Couldnt get past first few chapters. Guess anything can be passed off as good reading material with a tricky cover. Which coincidently does nothing for its namesake. No excuse for treating you child badly on the slide. Someone report this child abuser.
