It takes two to tango.

On the one hand, the Protestant Bible is a collection of 66 books written by multiple authors in three different languages during a period of more than 1000 years with multiple literary genres. That description alone might be enough to make someone at least frown.

On the other hand, finding the time to commit to reading the Bible regularly is challenging these days. In many cases, people's responsibilities can fill a long list which mostly come with blur priority lines. Not to mention the (un)necessary distractions one has to face on daily basis.

Needless to say, in order to not just read the Bible but also understand what the texts are all about, help is badly needed.

In my case, when it comes to reading and understanding the Bible, I get a lot of helps from The Bible Project. They've been doing some pretty cool stuff both online and in real life for over five years which help Christians reading their Bibles in different and more helpful ways.

One of those projects is creating some animated videos about the stories in each book of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Those stories are both animated and read simultaneously to access the creative part of the brains. They are very helpful for people to see things in a different way most especially if you are big on visual experiences.

After the videos, this is the next best thing because they put all of the illustrations from those videos into one beautiful coffee table book that can be shared with the whole family. Moreover, each part comes with a written summary as well as behind-the-scene note on how they process all the works in each book from beginning till the end.

Some of the benefits I got by reading the illustrations and explanations in this book:
- they help put everything in context and build the foundation for my understanding of the story in each book of the Bible
- they wrap everything in my mind and make things more familiar so that I can engage more with and even become a part of the story
- they are good ways to help me see the big picture of every book in the Bible before I dive in and start reading them thoroughly

If you need help to read the Bible then this book is for you. You can also check out the videos on their site and YouTube channel if you want.

Part of my kill-my-tbr project, in which I'm reading all my physical, unread books, which number around one thousand!

I wanted to read this, but the book is quite large and flat and I found it difficult to handle comfortably.

The Bible Project videos give a wonderful overview of each book of the Bible; this book is simply the text (more or less) from the videos, plus the complete poster of the book of the Bible that each video discusses. I loved reading the text and then watching the video while referencing the poster in order to incorporate many different learning styles in approaching the book overviews!

Outstanding! Here, every book of the Bible is summarized as a 19" x 12" illustrated poster. I have learned so much from these posters and they have greatly increased my enthusiasm for reading scripture. A few things these posters do extremely well:

*Context- the author(s) and characters and location and historical background of each biblical book are displayed prominently at the start of each poster and throughout the illustrations.
*Themes- the major themes of each biblical book are organized graphically in a very clear and concise manor.
*Unification- each poster routinely links backwards and forwards to the common threads of previous and future pages, and ultimately weaves it all together as a "unified story that leads to Jesus".

So many other things to love: intros to Hebrew & Greek words, explorations of historical literary styles, explanations of debated authorships and interpretations. Every poster comes with a page of written description, really just a transcript of what you would hear while watching the accompanying animated video produced by the Bible Project. Well done!

I love the Bible Project video series for small groups and Bible teaching, and this book is just a print version of those videos. Full page images of their illustrations along with the print of their narration. Great coffee table book and overview of the Bible.
