Ashley and Patti are delighted when a Hollywood production wants Seagrass Sweets to cater for their new reality show filming right in town. However, the excitement fades quickly when the "Hollywood types" don't go in for sugar, the host is an egomaniac who fakes paranormal evidence and the once loving couple starring in the show seem to be fighting more and more as the filming continues. When local teacher Brent is found dead in the home he and his wife Lucy were trying to buy, Detective Luna is caught shorthanded and needs Ashley's help solving the case. A personal crisis distracts her. Can she help Detective Luna figure out who killed Brent or was it really a ghost?

I liked the premise of the story. I could picture someone I know in the role of host easily enough. Some people will believe anything. I liked the story of Brent and Lucy, average people and skeptics, trying to get a house the only way they can. The murder happens late in this short novel and there are far too few suspects. The big reveal was a bit weird. Since I had already read the other books in the series, some of my enjoyment of the coziness of the story was taken away by knowing what happens next. That's not the author's fault though, only mine for reading out of order.

Detective Luna shows a different side of himself here. He's short handed because his guys are away. He has a short temper with the Hollywood film crew and takes it out on Ashley even though it's not her fault. He knows he needs her powers of observation and insight into on set drama. Ashley has a sharp mind, she's intelligent enough but she does some really dumb stuff in this book. Her personal drama with Ryan is understandable at this point in their relationship. He's a super sweet guy but the romance is new to her and she's gun shy after a bad experience in Europe. Ryan is nothing like Serge and she knows that but she's only ever thought of him as a best friend until now. I think Ryan loved Ashley all along. He's understanding and willing to be patient. Patti acts out of character here. She's afraid of ghosts. Yes really. She believes in the paranormal even after seeing the evidence faked. I don't get it. She doesn't have much to do on page. Big Daddy is only in one scene. As always, the dogs are my favorite characters. Dizzy is such a cutie. My heart would have stopped when she ran away if I didn't already know the outcome. Her new puppy friend is adorable but a puppy with a broken leg should be on crate rest, not running around on play dates with a rambunctious friend.

The new characters are related to the reality TV show. Lucy and Brent are local teachers at the high school looking to buy their first home. The reality show may give them an opportunity to have a home if they can put up with the paranormal shenanigans. Lucy seems very nice and sensible. She doesn't believe in the paranormal. Brent is not very bright and seems clumsy but I don't think he really is. He lets his 15 minutes of fame go to his head and it makes him awful! Still, I was sad when he died. Detective Luna believes Lucy killed her husband but I don't think so for the same reason Ashley gives. The show's star host, Chance Fortune, is so awful I hoped he would end up murdered. He's an egomaniac who will do ANYTHING fame. Does that include murder? He is such an unpleasant, rude, mean, awful, horrible person I wouldn't put it past him. He would see it as doing the world a favor and eliminating a situation which would spell disaster for the show. In that case, why not kill Lucy who is not cooperative? Perhaps Brent's death was a mistake. Chance's assistant Trina is also a horrible person. She's delusional and crazy. I noticed what she was doing and am certain she's a murderer. That's too easy though isn't it? Camera operator Samantha List is the third suspect on the list. Her excuse of what she was doing late at night is super lame. She can get medicaid health insurance in California. It's free OR she can be covered under her parents' insurance if they live in certain states and she's under 26 so I don't believe her excuse at all. What would be her motive though?

This is not the best entry in the series but it's not the worst. There are some recipes that sound pretty good, both sweet and savory. This series is best read in order so save those freebies until you have them all or buy the whole series at once.

Another Winner for Sandi Scott with an ending that will surprise you!

Ashley and Patti were hired to cater the set of a reality TV show about house hunting in ghost houses. The actors are terrible, the host/director, Chance Fortune is obnoxious and needs this show to redeem himself as a director and the TV crew are strange, especially Chance's Assistant/Gofer. Then of course, you have a murder on the set. With Detective Luna short handed he unofficially has Ashley help with the investigation. And throw in her dog Dizzy is missing. And her strained relationship with her boyfriend Ryan. With lots of twists, turns and red-herrings we are taken through this fast paced cozy mystery in a page turner you just can't put down. I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!

Chance Fortune comes to town to shoot a reality show about a couple who is wanting to buy a haunted house. Ashley and Patty are lucky enough to be able to cater the crew during the filming. Along the way Ashley hears and sees things that really upset her, but not as much as when she finds Brent Redstaff dead on the floor. He is the husband of Lucy Redstaff and they are the couple buying the haunted house. Things aren't really as they seem on film. Can Ashley help find out who killed Brent and why? She will go through a lot of thought and ideas and wondering to find out who it is.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. The review is my own opinion.

Ashley and Patty are catering the Kraft Table for a Ghost Hunting Reality Television Show. The show is following a local couple looking to buy their dream home from a list of haunted houses. The set seemed to be full of drama on and off the camera. Ashley reports to the set one morning and lands herself right in the middle of another murder investigation. With most of the investigators off on a trip Detective Luna reluctantly agrees to let Ashley sit in on the witness interviews to take his notes. Since Ashley’s Dog Dizzy could contaminate the crime scene, Ashley’s boyfriend Ryan takes Dizzy for the day. Ryan and Dizzy go to the beach for a walk Dizzy runs off in the marsh. Ryan not able to keep up loses Dizzy. When Ashley finds out she was so distraught she refuses to talk to Ryan and throws herself in o helping with the murder investigation to keep busy. Can Ashley help solve the murder? Will Dizzy Come home? Can Ashley forgive Ryan for Dizzy’s disappearance?

This is another delightfully fun book in the Seagrass Sweets Series. Great Plot with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The characters are wonderful. I really enjoy Ashley and Patty’s partnership in their business and their support for one another beliefs and relationships. I love Dizzy, Ashley’s lovable put. I really loved seeing how she took in and took care of the little hurt puppy she found even when she was lost and on her own. Ashley’s relationship with her boyfriend Ryan is becoming more complexed as their story continues. If you like cozy mysteries with a touch of humor and romance then this is a book for you.

I was given an ARC of this book in hopes I would submit a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chance Fortune and a television crew are in Seagrass to film a Reality TV show. The premise of the show is a couple looking to buy a home and checking out various haunted houses in hopes of find one to buy and restore. Ashley Adams and her partner, Patty LaFontaine, have the catering contract to provide food for the film crew.

Things do not seem to be going smoothly, as Brent Redstaffe seems to be somewhat of a klutz and his wife, Lucy, knows that everything is fake. Brent and Lucy are heard arguing about her lack of interest in the show. A little while later, Ashley sees Chance's personal assistant, Trina Baumer, intentionally bump Brent making him spill his coffee, while trying to pass it off as an accident.

Samantha List, a member of the film crew, comes in early one morning and finds Brent dead. In an attempt to save his show, Chase continues filming in an attempt to imply that Brent was killed by the ghost who supposedly inhabits the house. Inspector Luna is assigned to the case, but since most of his detectives are out of town, he actually allows Ashley to assist with the investigation.

How did Brent die? Was it an accident or murder? If murder, who killed him and why? Can Ashley and Detective Luna figure out the mystery?

This is another great addition to the Seagrass Sweets Mystery series. There are characters who are very rude and disagreeable, while others who are friendly and welcoming, just like real life. Sandi Scott has a way of writing that makes it almost impossible to put a book down until you get to the very end.

Ashley and Patty get hired to cater food and deserts to a staff of movie crew who come to town to film a reality show. The show is about a couple who want to buy and renovate a haunted house. While the husband enjoys the filming and his new found fame the wife is more hesitant. The morning after an unpleasant argument the husband is found dead! Add a self centered director and his stalker assistant and the list of suspects grow! With most of his staff away for the weekend Detective Luna asks for Ashley’s help which she is more than glad to give and they start their interviews with the crew. Dizzy, Ashley’s faithful dog goes missing making it hard for her to concentrate add in Ryan’s desire to move their relationship along quicker and Ashley has her hands full.
Once Dizzy is found Ashley really starts to dig in to the mystery. Before long the murderer is caught and Ashley then has the time to sort out her relationship with Ryan. I love the Seagrass Sweets series but I have to confess this wasn’t my favorite one. But as a Sandi Scott fan I still have to recommend it. Looking forward to the next one.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. This is the fourth book in Sandi Scott's Seagrass Sweets series I have read. In this one, Ashley and Patty have been hired to cater for the filming of a reality series in a "haunted house" using a local couple (schoolteachers), Brent and Lucy, who are doing the show in order to purchase a haunted house that has sat empty for 45 years. Brent wanted to do the show, Lucy did not. After much arguing on the set, Brent is found dead in the haunted house. Ashley just happens to get herself involved in another murder mystery. Detective Luna is short handed so he implies that Ashley can help him with interviews. She has been on set and knows who the suspects might be and their motives to kill Brent. In the midst of this Ryan is walking Dizzy on the beach and Dizzy disappears. Ashley is trying to solve a murder, feed the cast, crew and police officers and find Dizzy. The director, Chance Fortune, an egotistical maniac and his assistant who is actually stalking Chance are the top suspects. This is a fast paced, fun read. I would recommend it to those who like cozy mysteries.

This is another book in which I enjoyed the story, but was distracted by the grammar and sentence structure. I'm a retired English teacher, so this does bother me, but you many not worry about it at all and thoroughly enjoy the story.
Ashley, a bakery and catering company owner, along with her partner, Patty, are catering the food at the site of the filming of a reality TV show, "Haunted Houses." Both young women think that the premise of the show is shallow and that the host, Chance Fortune, is awful - loud, full of himself, and out only for himself. The show's premise is that a couple is looking for a house, but searching only in houses that are supposed to be haunted. Chance and his crew set up supposed scenes of hauntings - lights flashing, doors opening and shutting by themselves, and mysterious wind. The hapless couple, Brent and Lucy, can't meet the director's expectations and are constantly harassed by Chance. Lucy did not want to do this and has no intention of acting frightened when she isn't, preferring to keep her dignity and hopefully her position as a math teacher in the small town of Seagrass, Texas. Brent, on the other hand, is enjoying his time on the show until he is murdered.
Ashley and Patty find themselves helping the police investigate Brent's murder.
The book contains several delicious sounding recipes, but not the special Belgium pralines in the title.

Another great cozy mystery by Sandi Scott!

Ashley and Patti find themselves catering for the crew of a "reality" show set, based in an old house, rumoured to be haunted by a ghost. The show is about a couple of locals renovating an old mansion, chosen from a list of haunted houses. In between the host Chance Fortune that is self-absorbed and ever demanding, the husband Brent enjoying a bit too much his newly found "fame" while being rude to his wife and the wife Lucy refusing to act up scared or surprised by the fake effects of the show, no wonder arguments become an often sight while filming.

On the morning after another argument, surprisingly Brent is found dead. Detective Luna is really short-staffed after his team are enjoying a fishing trip together, so he reluctantly agrees Ashley to unofficially help him with the case.

Really enjoyable read, following both the case and Ashley's personal life evolving. Even Dizzy gets to find a new puppy friend - these two are just massively adorable. Looking forward to the next chapters of everyone's lives!!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Patty and Ashley are the caterers on site of a reality TV series about haunted houses. The show appears to be a bomb-much too fake with bad acting. Chance Fortune, director and host is extremely obnoxious and the reality couple, Brent and Lucy are just not into it. Amidst all the fighting and disagreements Brent is found dead on the set. Is it the ghosts, an accident or intentional murder? Ashley helps Detective Luna, who is short handed by advising him of who was who on the set and who might have had a motive for murder. During all this chaos, Ashley's dog, Dizzy goes missing. As Ashley tries to put the pieces together, there is no shortage of suspects or ideas as to what happened. Ashley eventually figures it out almost costing her her life. I enjoyed this quick read mystery and would love to read more books in this series.

Sandi Scott’s books are always a pleasure to read! Her characters are charming and even the “villains” have a certain appeal. This one involves a telecast of a “haunted House” to try to prove that ghosts exist with a lot of help from the television crew. A local couple are trying to win this house by appearing on the show with disastrous results. Plenty of ego abounds. A mystery for the baker and her friends to solve with their usual aplomb. Of course there is food to make your mouth water while reading this. One thing Sandi Scott does well is describe pets and animals so well that you could care more for their plight than solving the murder mystery which ends with a twist. I received an ARC of this for a voluntary review and I’m grateful I was given the opportunity to read this delightful book!

Sandi Scott has another hit here! Although this is book 4 in the series, it is easily read and easy to follow as a stand-alone, so don't let that it's part of a series stop you from picking up this delightful, quick, witty and fun read! The characters are great, well developed as is the story. No spoilers here, but the murder mystery is set in a reality TV series, with a jerk of a director, sleuths that are caterers all mixed together (pun intended) resulting in characters you love to love and also those you want to hate but can't because it is just such a wonderful book! The ending is completely unexpected, and just suffice it to say, you won't be sorry you picked this one up! I received an advanced copy of this book and am posting an honest, unsolicited review!

Caterers Ashley and Patty have been asked to provide food for the filming of a Reality TV show about a couple who wants to buy a Haunted House.
Dealing with the Producer who needs the show to be a success, a husband whose seemingly notoriety goes to his head, a wife who wants no part of the reality show and some unexplained haunting occurrences all contribute to chaos and murder. Not without several possible worldly and unworldly possible killers, Ashley knows that murder is real and sets her sights on trying to find the killer. Sandi Scott likes to write Cozy Mysteries and we can be glad she does. I was given an ARC of Praline Murder for my honest review.

Ashley Adams is catering for the cast and crew of a reality show about a couple looking to purchase a haunted house. It turns out about the only thing that is real about this production is a dead body. Ashley does not think the prime suspect is guilty and since the police department is short staffed they ask her for some assistance.

Any reality show fan will enjoy this book and if you are looking for a quick easy to read cozy this would be a good choice. I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.

CUTE!

Another fun cozy mystery by Sandi Scott! Ashley & Patty are having the time of their lives as while catering in Hollywood. They’re not bored since landing the craft catering contract for a reality show. After all, that’s where they find a haunted house and a murder. Throw in a very persistent boyfriend, a wayward dog and a needy Detective and that’s enough murder and mayhem for anyone! I was provided an ARC of this book. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and without influence.

I have fallen in love with Sandi Scott's books. This is the first of her books I have read and I really do love it. I have decided to go back and read the rest of this series as I always love to read all the books in a series when I read one of them.

If you love cute mysteries you will fall in love with this book. It has enough plot twist to keep you guessing until the end. This is a book about a murder on the set of a tv series. It is a reality tv series and no one can figure out who the murder is. It takes the caterer to figure out who the murder is.

This is the first book in this series that I have read, and I was not disappointed. This is a very easy to read cosy mystery, If you are a fan of reality shows then you will probably enjoy this even more than I did. I did really like the characters of Ashley and Patti and the plot was quite clever.
Overall a fun clean read which I can recommend to anyone who likes cosy mystery.

Really wonderful characters abound in this cozy mystery. Ashley and Patty run a catering business and become involved in investigating the murder of a reality TV star. The story is fun and there are so many suspects, it was hard to narrow down the list. The villains, Chance and his assistant are both so crazy and unbalanced that they take center stage as suspects. This book is part of a great series. It is a quick read, and a delight. Highly recommend.

Praline Murder the fourth and the best to date, in The Seagrass Sweet Mystery Series. Am entertaining book that I greatly enjoyed reading. I've lost track of how many Sandi Scott books I've read, but she's become one of my favorite authors. She does a wonderful job in character & plot development that makes you want to come back for more. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the series. I’ll definitely read more from this author!

This was a fun, fast read. The kind you like in between those gory, deep mysteries. The characters are sweet with a penchant for involving themselves into police investigations which is a definite no-no. I'm certainly not a prude by any means buts it's nice to have a clean read every once in a while. I received an ARC in return for a fair and honest review. Thank you Ms. Scott for a nice relaxing read.

Ashley and Patti are off on another murder. First they find themselves catering a movie set. This movie quickly turns in to a murder investigation. This is book 4 in this series and I have read a few but not all the books. I find them a good clean fun read. I have also found that I start one of these books and just want to read more and more till I get to the end and then don't want it to stop. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.

The #4 book is #1!

Great book, as usual. I have come to realize the Sandi Scott can only write #1 books/series. I really enjoy Ashley, Dizzy, Patti, and Detective Luna. The characters are well established and work well as a team. The plot was well developed and I was totally surprised by the ending. Not giving too much away, something happens to Dizzy and at the end of the book ,find out there will be a new team member. Looking forward to book #5.

Sandi Scott's Praline Murder was great as usual. Ashley is a great character. She is a baker and her and her partner Patty are working as caterers on a movie set, and find themselves in the middle of a murder. All the characters are well laid out and keep the story interesting even Dizzy to add a touch of humour. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a nice clean cozy read. Good for a rainy or snow afternoon.
Keep up the good work Sandi great as always.
Cheers

This is the 4th in the series. The main character is Ashley who is the owner of Seagrass Sweets. She with her partner Patty are catering the filming of a reality show. There is a death of one of the main characters and it seems most of the police are on vacation together, so Ashley helps Lt. Luna investigate what happened. They almost don't figure it out before Ashley loses her life. Love this series.

Praline Murder: A Seagrass Cozy Mystery (Book 4)

I really like the relationships of the main characters. The story is so believable and the enjoyment I get of reading these Cozy Mysteries is because there is no bad language or innuendos. And thanks to Ashley, the main sleuth, I couldn’t have figured out who was the killer without you, haha! Thanks Sandi Scott, another winner!

This has been my favorite series from Sandi Scott until this one. I hate when a civilian sits in on a police interview. Especially when other law enforcement personnel are there that can be used. Not only does Ashley get to sit in on all the interviews in this one, she also picked up a security tape for the lead detective from an apartment complex.

A Reality show to die for!

My favorite genre is cozy mysteries, and this is a great one. I love the dog, Dizzy, and what she adds to the story line! I always enjoy trying to figure out " who done it", but with this one I had to wait to the end . As usual with Scott's books, I practically drool reading about the delicious treats the catering duo make!

Quick, pleasant read

Good book that moves along quickly. Characters and story line are fairly well developed. When I read a book I feel that, for me, it's successful if I can picture the characters in my mind and the book reads similarly to watching a movie. This has Lifetime or Hallmark written all over it!
