Obsessed: An Invitation Erotic Odyssey

Rate this book

On an uncharacteristic whim, an obsessive-compulsive woman vacations at an island resort where she learns how to surrender to her disorderly, capricious, and wanton inner self.

Briana's pristine life has recently gone downhill after she realized her perfect marriage was a sham. Weighed down by the burdens of her impending divorce and the shame of being a "starter wife," the hysterically out-of-control Briana calls the number printed on a postcard for a limited-time offer at a distant lodge. Upon arriving at the sex vacation resort, Briana is confronted with all of her old hang-ups and throws herself into the pleasures of exhibitionism -- freeing herself from her heartbreaking past and the inhibitions that have always held her back in life.

P-l-e-n-t-y hot little erotic adventure here. At just 149 pages, don't expect too much background detail on the characters or anything like that. This one is basically all about the sexual adventures of our heroine, the uptight, germ-a-phobic, obsessive compulsive Briana Neeson.

Briana (for reasons that we never learn) is intent on being the perfect woman/housewife. She's a clean freak (to put it mildly), and can't give up control of anything or let loose enough (sexually) to enjoy her 8 year marriage. Her husband Jonathan thinks she's frigid. One day she comes home from shopping and finds her husband going at it with a strange woman in their bed. The sad thing is, what upsets her most is the mess they've made of the sheets and not the fact that her husband was with a skanky woman. We learn that Jonathan has begged Bree to go into couples therapy with him for quite a while, but Brianna has always refused, assuring Jonathan that she'll "try harder". Jonathan has had enough. If this betrayal wasn't enough to open her eyes and show Bree that they need help as a couple, then nothing will. He declares their marriage over and walks out.

A few days later, while fretting about the demise of her marriage, Bree gets an unusual invitation in the mail:

You are cordially invited to The Island, a place where your most fervant desires come to life with just one wish. At The Island, we cater to your needs...seduce you beyond your inhibitions...set you free to discover the woman you were meant to be. This invitation is given to a select few, and you've been chosen. should you choose to accept this invitation, you agree that you are ready for a change, that you are freeing yourself to experience something you've never dared to dream, and in doing so, your desire to be fulfilled, to reach perfection will manifest deliciously...
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
This invitation will expire in twenty-four hours, Briana. You can contact us at 800-555-9860 to experience the fantasy of a lifetime. We're waiting for your call...

Okay, I can't say much more since this book isn't that long and I'd be giving away some spoilers. You know that Briana's going to go...you know that she's going to discover her hidden sexuality on "The Island", you know that she's going to go from frigid to wanton in the blink of an eye, you know she's going to be doing things that make you say "Huh? I thought she was a germ-a-phobe. She got over that in a hurry." You'll wonder what they put in the food and drink at The Island to make an uptight woman lose all inhibitions in a matter of one day...or maybe you'll credit that to the two overendowed hunks (Malaki and James) who take special care of Briana, who only exist to serve her needs. Whatever. Just go with it and enjoy the fantasy. What makes this story a bit different from others of its kind, is the little twist at the end. I had a small suspicion about it as I was reading and I was happy to see that I was right when it came true.

So if you want something plenty hot to read and you've got a few hours to kill, and you're good at 'going with the flow' when you read, you'll probably enjoy this one. The writing was good, the sexcapades were smokin', and of course there was that little twist at the end. For an erotic quickie, this one was pretty good. 4 stars.

Warning: This book contains explicit sex (including oral and anal) and language; some m/m fondling, some f/f fondling; a m/f/m ménage; scenes of exhibitionism; and some naughty 'bathing' scenes. Not for the faint of heart.

Obsessed was unique in that our main lady, Briana, was an obsessive compulsive. I've never come across that before. I was fascinated with how her disorder strained her married life and hindered her sexuality. I got a good view into her insecurities, which I thought didn't relate so much to being OCD but could be applied to the average woman. I thought this short story was a great read. The fantasy backdrop was enjoyable and the sexual activities--more like sexual therapy--was well written and totally hot. It came 'this close' to being a keeper. My only complaint would be with the ending; although the HEA was there, I wasn't convinced with the way some elements were explained or how some were even written out without any explanation. However, it was only a small hitch in this otherwise very satisfying read. I give it a strong 4 stars.

Had one of those "twists" that you see coming a mile away and are pretty stupid to boot.

Briana jumped pretty quickly into exhibitionism and menage, considering her hangups, which made no sense.

The only reason it got 2 stars was because the sex scenes were good.
