'If true, the magnitude of what they now faced had grown beyond anything he could have imagined.'

This book hit the ground running and the action didn't let up once at all. Seriously, it was action-packed from the first paragraph. I stayed up till 1 am to finish this book. Set in the mountains out west, cold weather, 2 people, 1 ex CIA, the other current CIA, are on the run from many men who want them dead. And not only them. The bad guys don't care who dies as long as they get what they want. Mary Alford has done a fine job here. Highly recommended if you like Christian suspense.

*My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. My opinions are entirely my own.

Rachel, her brother Liam, and Alex were best friends growing up. They did everything together including exploring Midnight Mountain. Fast forward to their adult years...
Rachel is concerned when she doesn't hear from Liam after a period of time. He is a CIA agent on a dangerous mission. The only person she can think of to call to help find her brother is Alex, who had worked alongside Liam in the CIA for years. Will they be able to find Liam before the enemy does? Will they all be able to rekindle the relationship they once had?
This book is action packed from cover to cover! Mary Alford did such a great job describing the mountain's terrain that I felt like I was experiencing what the characters were going through. I definitely recommend this book to those who love Christian romantic suspense. I received a copy of this book from the author, but that in no way influenced my review.

Love this story!! We all have those times where we believe we've blown up God's plan for our lives, where nothing could ever make a situation better. But that's where God shows up to let us know that He is the God of the impossible and miracles are what He loves to do.

From a missing brother to unexpected danger, this story is full of action, suspense and mystery. Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. Who should be trusted? Who is working for the CIA and who should be feared? The story is fast paced and the characters are very interesting. Great read. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.

Standoff At Midnight Mountain ( Love Inspired Suspense )
By; Mary Alford
Standoff At Midnight Mountain is a Love Inspired Suspense by Mary Alford. I love it when a story takes off at the start and you can’t put it down. Face paced, action packed, danger, and suspense that will keep you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. Brother missing, a sister knows something is wrong, and a best friend and an ex, Agent. Can they find Rachel’s brother, Liam?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but I was not told that had to give a positive review.

Her brother has gone missing and she knows in her heart something is not right. When she reaches out to her former partner she wonders what could be next for all of them since now it seems they are after her and she doesn't know why. He sets off to his hometown to help find his best friend but when he shows up knows it's not what it seems. Can they find Liam before it is too late?
This book was amazing. I really did enjoy it, oh so much it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was like a game of cat and mouse throughout the whole book and who don't know who the good guys are or the bad guys, because of this the author did an amazing job and keeping you guessing all the way to the end. This book is a good clean read and it will keep you on the edge from beginning to end. You won't regret grabbing this book its a quick read but well worth it.

I received an advance copy. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

I hate romance novels and only read this because it seemed a quick read that I could likely tolerate and it was free. As much as I hate romance books this one was even harder to stomach because of all the talk about God. On the second last page alone the word God was used 5 times. I'm glad to be done with it and move on to something else. Any future free romance books I find will stay where they are.

Standoff at Midnight Mountain

From start to finish you don’t have time to catch your breath as Rachel and Alex fight against the winter elements and vicious villains in a race against time to save her brother, Liam, and his partner, Deacon.
Strong characters fighting for the good with the help of the lord.

Rachel is stubborn, but who wouldn't be if your brother was missing.
Not one to sit on the side line, she sets out to find him and runs
into all kinds of suspense with an old friend.
Mary's books are always great.

For a mystery, this is a pretty good one. Liam leaves his sister a message that is hard to decipher even with the help of friend Alex. It's a step-by-step adventure to figure out who the bad guys are and what they want.

Couldn't get into this one. Not thriller suspense but dull factual narrative; too many characters with no depth. premise - corrupt CIA. Sister going into wilderness to find her wounded brother, all the while being in a deadly chase by corrupt agents.

Pretty good

I enjoyed it, but it dragged just a little for me. I did like how the story did finally get you to who the culprits were. The ending was excellent.

Typical of the genre. Light entertainment. Some lines in the narrative get a bit repetitive.

It was an ok story. It’s a book about two adults but with too much childish stuff - does he love me, does he not. Stealing glances. The story itself was unbelievable.
