OMG, I hate the cover on this. Especially since the author makes some effort to flesh out the Milim character who looks like a straight up lolicon here. Otherwise, the story has really taken hold. Rimuru is still OP, but it's less about that and more about the world and community this character is building.

This series is getting far too much lolicons. But the good side is that it has good plot and epic fights.

we’re actually having more in-depth look into rimuru’s civilisation planning-especially with important details like housing, relationships, and sanitation. rimuru has more races working for him/with him in this country than it’s shown on the anime. millim making an iconic entrance~

the demon lords are making their moves, trying to manipulate the results of each little game they play. meanwhile, rimuru is just trying to build his nation up and keep the people safe and meeting great characters. millim’s presence brightened up the whole atmosphere even more with her comments and childlike behaviour, but scary powers.

---

WEB NOVEL THOUGHTS.

- instead of just milim visiting rimuru, the other demon lords volunteered their own subordinates to go along. for carrion, it's grucius and clayman has sent myulan already!
- oh nooo, the scene where rimuru fed milim honey to stop her from rampaging doesn't exist in the novel!!!
- myulan was a witch until she evolved into a devil when clayman took her heart.
- in the name of friendship, frey gave milim a jewel that caused her to be a marionette of clayman's. now she's under the control of clayman and defeated carion.

will be reading the light novel soon.

Wow, not a fan of the cover, lol, decidedly pervy for such a mild light novel. Third one of this series I've read, very litrpg. I like the mc. He's just a decent middle aged dude. He's not an ass, a jerk, particularly pervy, mopy or battle crazed, nor overcome w drama. Just a decent dude trying to get buy and occasionally enjoy life in a new world. He often goes out of his way to be kind and or de-escalate conflicts. Felt like a fresher take on the rather worn out isekai genre. I like the series as a whole so far.

A fun novel series about a man that dies and gets reborn as an slime and how he must level up and find a way to survive. Worth a read overall and the series just gets better and better the more you read. Book three you meet demon lords and the plot starts to move.

This is all super fun to read. It's not good as overlord, so far at least. Since I have watched the anime, nothing is much exciting till I catch up. (I watched the anime in regards to overlord too but the writing in overlord is far better than in slime, so Overlord was far more enjoyable)

For you anime watchers, Volume 3 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime covers episodes 16 – 19(-ish) of the show. The beginning of episode 20 has some events from the very end of Volume 3, but most of that episode kicks off the events of Volume 4. This book starts off following the aftermath of Volume 2. With the Jura Tempest Federation solidified into a new but still budding country, the new nation’s leadership face new challenges. This more or less divides the book into two parts: the political aspect and military actions.

As Rimuru begins organizing the country’s resources and top people, other nations begin to take notice of the new nation. While he and his subordinates are skilled in combat, politics is a whole new battlefield for them. New allies will be made who seek to partner with the Federation and learn from their technological advances. At the same time, enemies who covet the forest’s rich resources set their hungry eyes upon the new, small country. In this dog-eat-dog world, it is only a matter of time before the Federation is pressed into military action.

Every book in this series has had a big fight sequence so far and Volume 3 keeps that trend moving. The exact details of the fight are spoilery, but the battle goes to show that Rimuru and his gang are far from all-powerful. It is true that their strength has grown by leaps and bounds in a short amount of time. But in this world of monsters, they are still little fish in a big pond. They can hold their own when working together, but there are still enemies far beyond them individually. Rimuru having a Naraku/Majin Buu/Sylar/Borg power makes this less of an issue with each defeated enemy though.

Aside from the cringy cover art (that new character gets more clothes during the story, I promise), Volume 3 was pretty on par with the first two books. With the characters’ powers increasingly so dramatically from one book to the next, that may or may not remain the case as the series progresses. Isekai’s tend to be littered with overpowered protagonists and this is no exception. Heck, this series would probably set the high-bar for that if Overlord didn’t exist. While That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime comes across as more of a YA series than other light novels, it is still entertaining enough.

With the orc lord defeated and his army disbanded, Rimuru is turning his attention back to building a town. Or rather, it's starting to look more like a nation. With their first treaty signed, he's moving onto a bigger stage. But the demon lords have also taken note, and have sent their own investigative team . . .

I like a lot in this book, but since I'm not really fond of Milim, that takes it down a notch for me. (And that cover. Ugh. Talk about books I am glad I got digitally because it would be too hard to explain in public.)

I enjoy reading about the little details of building a town. In this case, the various sanitary improvements Rimuru is trying to implement in his monster town. Toilets. Showers/baths. All very difficult when you neither have a good way to pressurize plumbing (if you can even lay all the piping) and no obvious way to heat the water. Rimuru himself may not need to use some of this, but his formerly-human sensibilities demand a much higher level of cleanliness than anything this world can provide. To be honest, I wish the books had gone into this level of detail on some of the other things too. I love the nitty gritty of working out these engineering issues with magic and a very primitive technology.

I also find it hilarious how Rimuru mentions his town is getting really GOOD at the whole "drop everything and evacuate" routine because of all the ridiculous monsters that have been showing up spoiling for a fight.

There's also a good look at some of the various major powers in the world, from the demon lords to the dwarf king, and how they're reacting to the gathering power in Rimuru's town. For the demon lords, who are themselves extremely powerful, this is just something to keep an eye on to make sure it doesn't get out of control. But for the dwarven/human kingdoms, Rimuru's pace of development is frankly insane, and worrisome. And both groups would be happy to trap Rimuru in various schemes if they can, so he'd better learn to be a politician quickly.

The big bad in this one feels less like an immediate threat and more like a chess piece. We have a mysterious organization that may or may not be working on behalf of a demon lord, the demon lords themselves, and Tempest caught in the middle. Given Milim's presence, though, it's hard to put as much tension here as there was in the battle against the Orc Disaster.

Overall this is a solid continuation of the story. I rate this book Recommended.

Just like the second volume I read it a bit ago so it’s not fresh in my mind, but still a good read. I definitely like how in the light novel everything is from the perspective of whoever is the main focal point, like how you switch to Clayman’s mind and thoughts when in his meeting, so on and so forth. As well as them actually explaining the details about the characters, for example Milim. Like how in the manga and anime she’s just this goofball how looks and acts like a child and can be easily manipulated, whereas in the light novel it’s explained that she’s actually quite cunning and uses her childish looks and behaviour to trick and fool others into thinking she’s a pushover. (Spoiler kinda?) Kinda like how later on Rimuru plans to deal with the other nations. (Also spoilers.) Like if you look at the end of season two of the anime, or around the Walpurgis part of the story, Milim was tricking Clayman and even had her own investigation going on about what was happening behind the scenes. If watching the anime, you’re kinda sat there thinking “Milim? She’s investigating this dude?” Or just glossing over it. But in the light novel it makes sense. No flack to the anime or manga, just using it as a comparison. Anyway I can’t be asked to write anymore even though I could go on for probably the length of the book about this (I know I got bad tastes but Tensura is my fave series, anime, manga or light novel. Don’t judge) so I leave it with:
Just read it! It’s good!

My thoughts on the third volume of the light novel of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) by Fuze and Mitz Vah.

The story: The Jura-Tempest alliance (federation) gets some very unexpected visitors, it gets the attention of some kingdoms and they start investigating them. By the second half of the book a calamity level monster attacks Rimuru (town)

Enjoyment:
The best volume so far, it was full of technical stuff, political covenants, alliances, magic, adventure, dealing with very powerful and influential people, and fighting a monster so powerful that it could have destroyed the entirety of the Jura forest

Final verdict:
It's as fun to read as the other volumes, it was filled to the brim of world and character building, the politics and town development where really the best of it and I can't believe all the things that happened could fit in just one volume 9/10

The entire novel, in general, retains the following, in my opinion. It's a very interesting story, but the writing is mediocre at best. The guy who wrote it was clearly enjoying building the world, working out the characters, and as I said, it's a very good story, but the over-emphasis on certain details makes it clear that the writer is not a professional and he just does his best to deliver the story. Perhaps the repetitive nature will prove useful as the story goes to remember all the characters and their relations in the future, 20 volumes is nothing to joke about after all, but for now I think it's important to point out that this is not what I'd call "a work of art", it's just a very (emphasis on that) good story that I enjoy reading.

P.S. This could work perfectly as a D&D campaign now when I think about it.

The mask I don't get, the conversations I don't get, and the staying for 3 months I don't get. He has the face of a human girl so the mask is nothing but an assumed identity for a grade schooler to to feel cool, in no way is it the actions of an adult contractor. The conversations rarely involve important information, and the analytics usually happen in the middle of combat 2-3 pages of text within the span of a few seconds. And he can use shadow step so this idea of here and there cease to matter, yet he makes it sounds as if he can't return for 3 months. So the only redeeming element of this series is the setting, and the plot that's snailing along.

With the arrival and defeat of the Orc Lord, Rimuru and his people have drawn the attention of the world, demon lords and neighbouring countries. Dealing with foreign representatives is a bit of a hassle and might be somewhat dangerous if those include demon lords. I enjoyed the story, but it felt a bit more disjointed then the earlier two volumes. There is a lot of switches in point of perspective, providing some details on world building, although some felt a bit superfluous. Otherwise it is much like the earlier two volumes, an entertaining somewhat over-the-top story of a powerful slime dealing with even more powerful people all the while trying to keep his friends save.

Thoroughly enjoyable read, though as with the first 2 volumes, I'm not sure if it would strike a chord with those unfamiliar with the anime.

The translation could definitely use some work (I read the word supple way too many times lol) but it gives you much more back story, context, and world building to the series.

I would have to agree with the other reviews though about the cover - that even I wasn't particularly fond of reading it outside - but we'll. It's what the author wanted (basis the afterword), changing her up from the web novel to be more in the lolicon vein. Why? Idk. Lol.

First thoughts:

The translation is still below average and even with the extra context of the LN and the thoughts of the main character its still not as good as the anime. I hoped for more, but it didnt deliver.

Its still a good story, but this isnt the medium I would choose for it.

Also. REALLY?! Why was that particular cover necessary?

Not going to be getting the fourth book when it comes out. Not worth it if this is any indication.

Oh hot damn I love this series. Rimaru and his crew get to meet the overpowered demon lord Milim as she comes crashing into their newly formed town of Rimaru. She is an infinitely powerful foe who becomes friends as Rimaru does his usual befriending of all types. I love the series and look forward to reading the next!

The first book that I find more interesting than the anime. There is so much new information in this that never made it into the anime. Yohm for instance, and Mjurran and Dwargo, too. It was a very interesting read despite Milim's introduction arc being my least favourite so far. A few spelling mistakes, though, but nothing that took away the enjoyment of reading it.

The book takes somewhat of a break from the main cast and action to expand on the political world and surrounding characters. Fuse successfully sets the groundwork for future conflicts and makes the world feel more and more lived in.

This doesn't affect my score, but I really wish the cover was different.

Without getting into spoilers, differences from the anime to the light novel, or anything like that: this story keeps up the quality that you expect, and is worth continuing the series for. Not a fan of the cover, but good story otherwise.

So the visit of the dwarven king turned out quite boring, and the visit of the demon lord too. On top of that he seems to enter smug mode a bit too often. Too slow for me I’m afraid. I like slice of life, but this is just soporific.

Wonderful!

Love getting into the heads of the demon lords! Looking forward to the next installment. I particularly liked seeing the technology described, I thought that was a fun twist. It's usually glossed over but it's pretty interesting to see

Welp. That certainly is a cover. The book itself is OK, even if the Charybdis arc is probably the weakest of what's been translated so far.
