I guess I were to describe FIXING FREDDIE in a phrase, I'd call it a grown up fairy tale. Sure, there's no princess, but there is an almost perfect man, a home almost as big as a palace, and a totally swoon-worthy happily-ever-after -- just without magic pumpkins or singing animals...
Freddie has loved Samantha, ever since school -- where she was the beautiful, popular girl and he was .. well, the dork. Of course, lots of dorks grow up to be multi-millionaire business owners, and Freddie was no exception. Expanding his video game dweebiness into a huge corporate empire, Freddie now has it all -- the fancy cars, the beautiful homes, the money in the bank, but he's still a dork.
Samantha, in the meantime, is stuck in a terrible relationship. She knows her boyfriend is probably cheating, and she's pretty sure she's ready to end things. Except, there's this wedding coming up, and she can't go alone. Then, one day she runs into Freddie and he admits that he'd like Samantha to help make him more socially appealing. It's a big project, but someone can do it, right?
Samantha has no idea Freddie is rich. But as she gives him a new hairstyle and new clothes, she starts to see an appeal that she never noticed before. While fixing Freddie, might she realize that what she always wanted was already there all along?
For the most part, this was a cute, charming, fun read. I only had two parts that made me cringe. First, when Samantha was asked why she stayed in such a sucky relationship, she bawled that it's because her daddy left her. And, she seemed to be serious. Gag. Second, what's with the fascination with the size of Freddie's ... ahem ... manhood? At least the author tied it in to the happy ending, I guess!
