The Apocalypse is coming. The Brotherhood has watched and protected this world from the oncoming darkness for as long as time has existed. Each age brings a new threat, a new way for the darkness to eclipse the light forever. It has been over five hundred years since the last major trials, and the world is due.
Isaac Tsagakis dreams of the end, and the woman he must find. Beautiful and perfect, she is the first of four that is needed to ensure the world does not end, and humanity isn't thrust into the depths of an unimaginable hell. But finding her in a city as large as Savannah, Georgia is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack. He needs to find her, bond with her and keep her for always. And he is ready.
Magnolia Morgan has no idea just how special she is. A librarian obsessed with the ancient world, she stumbles onto her wildest dreams just talking to Isaac one night. A man she would never consider talking to her, she is enraptured and excited that for once, her normal dull existence is going to be shaken up by the sexy bar owner who kisses like the devil. But other forces are at work against the Brotherhood, forces that have been working in the shadows, watching, planning...and they want Maggie as well. Isaac is going to have to rely on all his strength and experience to ensure she becomes his for all time because the fate of the world is in her hands.
OMG this book was amazing... you have four guys who will make you laugh with their banter and just overall personalities... they are all trying to keep the world safe from evil... but in order to do that they need to find their other halves... the women who will make them complete. It's a great start to what is going to be a fantastic series. This is a definite a must read book for all in my opinion.
I loved this book. the intrigue and action, the attraction between Isaac and mag it pulls you into the story and i couldn't put it down once I got a chance to really sit and read it. I bought the rest of the books that are out for this series. great work.
This is my new favorite series. These hot warriors and their kick ass ladies are amazing. I absolutely love the smartass moments and the sexy times. The characters are saving the world and finding their soulmates. Isaac and his brothers need to find the women that are meant for them and bond with them to prevent the apocalypse. Magnolia is definitely not expecting the crazy Isaac pulls her into, but she can’t resist him. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
The authors really put together a good story to start a series here. There is suspense, romance, laughter and just all around good story. I really like the smart guy, Isaac is awesome. And Mags is just perfect. In this match they are both winners.I'm so glad I've visited Savannah so I had the location imagery in my head as they wrote. A quick, fast read, this is a must for paranormal & fantasy readers alike.
This is definitely an interesting little world. The apocalypse is on the verge of making an appearance and four men are burdened with keeping that from happening at any cost - including falling in love and bonding. Not in a creepy, rapey way or anything like that.
This one follows Issac, the youngest of the four, as he tries to find his bond-mate, Maggie. Once he does, the relationship moves at the pace of a roller coaster (remember, this is a relatively short book, coming in at just over 230 pages). It reminds me a lot of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series where the lead finds their mate and needs to do whatever possible to bond with them (again, not in a creepy, stalker, rapey way). Through-out the affaire, Issac and his brothers discover not everything is what it seems and that someone close to them has been deceiving the Brothers and their cause.
The four brothers are guided by a small group of Priests (priest-ish) and a butler named Carleton who is basically Jarvis meets Coulson and has instantly become my favorite person. Seriously, give me a story about Carleton where all he does is bitch about having to take care of Issac, along with Hal, who is basically a hermit, and two perpetual frat boy man-whores, Gunnar and Hoke.
So, why the three stars? Actually, this book is more deserving of four stars but I knocked it down to three for three reasons:
1) Grammar/punctuation/spelling/spacing errors. One or two, I can handle fine, but there were one or two, sometimes more, (I am reading the e-versions of each book and my settings are much different than a paperback) on multiple pages.
2) I really want to know more about the Brothers and why (and how) they were chosen to be the guardians of earth. I want to know more about the prophecies that are mentioned through-out, other members of the Brotherhood, the priests...everything. I find that to be much more fascinating and interesting. I want to know the history. Then again, I'm also used to reading dense high-fantasy novels where things like that are usually fleshed out in the first book and then built on in the proceeding novels instead of spread out completely.
3) I know there are more books in the series, but I would have liked to have gotten to know Maggie a lot more than just having her thrown at us. We really know nothing about her other than she comes from a rich family and is Issac's bond-mate.
I would easily be happy with 400+ page books for these guys just so I can have all those details, but I'm greedy like that.
There are also some pretty steamy romance scenes - I wouldn't call them full blown erotica, but they are definitely pretty hot. They balance the story out perfectly and let you see how the two lover birds are with each other, especially after.
If you tend to read a lot of indie authors, especially a lot of erotica/pnr indie authors, consider giving this one a chance. While I haven't read anything else K. Margaret has written, I have read Restraint: Suit Romance by Stella Price (and her sister, Audra Price) and can say with all honesty that the worlds are worth exploring.
Eclipsed Heart is the first in what looks to be an exciting new series. Fans of The Brotherhood and The Breed should rock out on these guys. Isaac and his band of brothers are warriors whose purpose is to keep the apocalypse from occurring but of course there are bad guys who want it to happen so they can build a new world from the ashes. The prophecy has the brothers finding their soulmates as part of their strength for the coming battles. I love a brainy guy and Isaac just did it for me. Mags Morgan is a lucky girl. That being said I really look forward to seeing Gunnar fall. This book deals with dark times but isn’t a dark read. I read this book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not a bad book. I liked the characters and the plot points. Some of the language was a bit off putting especially how the characters conversed with one another. It seemed a bit crass especially on a first date. I am intrigued enough to continue the series.
In a lot of ways this book is fine. The writing is fine. The sexy times are fine. The world and the plot are shallow, but fine. The editing is a little dodge, but mostly fine. The book is mostly fine. I'm sure plenty of people will enjoy it.
The problem is that it is like someone said to me, "Hey, go ahead and make a list of ALL your most hated cliches and tropes and we'll just put them ALL in a single book for you." Man, this story and the characterizations in it hit just about all of my least favorite things to find in a book, especially a romance.
But what really clinched it for me was two things. One, Isaac goes about bonding Maggie (and all the men knew he was doing so), but at no time is Maggie made aware of this. Which I considered problematic. Consent is a thing, ya'll! And, two, all the men—the MC and the side characters who will be the MCs of future books—were complete douche bags, especially in the way they thought and talked about women. It's kinda hard to invest yourself in a romance with men you literally find yourself wrinkling your nose and sneering at. And that's before we even get into all of the gross gay, "lady boy," and sexist jokes. Take the worst locker room, dude-bro banter and multiply it a few times. No, I did not appreciate these MCs at all. And I have no desire to spend any more time with them.
The 1st in this series...Issac's challenge. I received the book and once I started it, I couldn't put it down! Loved it....looking forward to the 2nd...
