Masked was such an amazing book and such a great story! This is definitely a 5 STAR read from Angel Payne.
This book is full of dominance, insecurities and the will to find ones worth. Dan is your true dominant with a rough past. He has been through much more than anyone should ever have to endure. He has had one constant and positive in his life... Tess. Even with all of his visible scars he is still the most magnificent man she has ever seen. Tess would like nothing more than to experience Dan's dominant side in more ways than she can count. Can she make him see that she could handle all that he has to give? She would give anything for that once in a lifetime experience. Is she worthy of him? Is he worthy of her?
These two have such an amazing bond and OH so much more... They will take you on an amazing ride and journey finding themselves in ways they never believed possible. It takes so much for them to see that they too can be "normal." I loved the moment he realized that taking care of a sub could mean so much to him... He has somewhat of an internal battle with this thinking... "Meanings" are for normal people, remember? People who have their heads screwed on straight. "Meanings" are for the rest of the world, asshole. Not you. Will Dan be able to finally SEE his worth and ability to have a meaningful relationship?
Will fate intervene and allow these two lost souls become one?
While I have loved EVERY single Honor Bound book this one is my new favorite ;)

Angel Payne turns up the heat in her latest installment of the WILD Boys series! A love story filled with angst and pain, and a deep yearning you can feel down to your bones. I adore Ms. Payne's poetic writing style and her beautiful use of symbolism throughout the entire story. Never did I think that a simple act of placing a key in a door and turning the lock to a place that leads to the unknown, could feel so erotic and emotional at the same time. What that simple act meant to the couple in this story was just beautiful.
Reading books in this series always brings a smile to my face, and a blush to my cheeks. It's hot, sensual, and seductive. It's emotional, thought provoking, and filled with so many layers. It's deep, it's complex, and the characters and their actions will touch your soul. Always a pleasure to crack into an Angel Payne novel. Tess and Dan's story is about bravery, trust, and complete surrender, and I enjoyed every single minute of it!

4 Star Review of Masked (Honor Bound Book 7) by Angel Payne
This is the story of CIA special agent Daniel (Dan) Colton and Tess Lesange also known as The Laser in the CIA’s Vegas office.
Dan was badly burnt in his last mission and has withdrawn from most of his family, friends. colleagues and the lifestyle he loves. Prior to the mission he used his good looks to complete his missions successfully. Now that he is scared he has withdrawn from life and hides in the shadows.
Tess has always had a thing for Dan and when he was injured she finally had an opportunity to be noticed and became the friend he needed, even though Dan remained in a vanilla sexual relationship with Brynn. Dan and Tess are very good friends and have emotionally connected.
Brynn has no interest in the BDSM lifestyle than Dan has lived and so he turns that side of himself off. I felt he casually discarded Brynn and that is not something I would have expected from Dan.
Tess on the other hand is intrigued and desperately wants to submit. So much so that she has read “all the books”. She actually asks Dan if he will be her Dom and he refuses. Intent on exploring the lifestyle she goes to Catacomb, a club run by one of Dan’s friends.
Tess meets a masked Dom who reminds her of someone, but as his voice is as masked as his face, she has no idea that it is in reality Dan. Tess is desperate to experience submission as it is calling to her very soul. Dan cannot stand the thought of another Dominant touching her and so he connects with Tess offering her one night. Tess accepts and is led off to a themed room. Her masked Dom hands her the key to unlock the room (symbolic on so many levels) and so begins their night.
Perhaps if Dan had left it as one night I might not have minded so much but he contacts Tess again arranges another intense night at Catacomb with Tess to continue their journey together into Dominance and Submission.
Sadly it is based on a lie. Tess really has no idea that it is Dan even though at times the masked Dom seems familiar. I have to say I really didn’t feel that Dan’s actions were appropriate. I truly understand his desire to give Tess what she so desperately needs but I really felt it went against his character which has been shown to be so honourable throughout the series. But then that is just my opinion. Perhaps it is because they had emotionally connected as friends on such a deep level I was incensed that Dan would contemplate masquerading as someone else. I felt that Dan was being dishonest, not only in lying by omission to Tess but to his own integrity and hiding who he really is, not just physically but emotionally. Both have scars from their pasts that need to be addressed before either of them can move forward.
The sex is certainly intense and being honest it was scorching. But I kept thinking “what will happen when Tess finds out it was Dan all along?” and that distracted me a bit. I was fully invested in Tess’s feelings and her submission. As always these scenes of BDSM were beautifully and sensually written, so much so that I wished to be Tess, I freely admit.
When danger rears its ugly head in the form of a group of assassins hired to take out all of the men and their families from the last mission, Dan has no choice but to destroy his friendship with Tess and admit that he was the masked Dom at Catacomb. Tess is totally devastated and feels betrayed and rightly so.
I felt that this section let this book down. The danger and subsequent outcomes seemed rushed and when Dan announces to the world publicly that he is taking over his families company and leaving the CIA I felt it was all a bit too hurried. Tess suddenly forgives Dan (all because he holds a rose at his press conference, s symbol that only Tess would understand) for his behaviour and goes to him and all is forgotten. A bit too easy for me, I felt that Dan should have worked for Tess’s forgiveness and I was disappointed that Tess who had showed so much bravery in going after what she wanted would suddenly cave without demanding more form Dan. I wanted to see them work out their differences and how she overcame her feelings of betrayal. I wanted to see how they got to their HEA and I felt let down that I didn't get that. Of course all of this is just my opinion.
Having said all of that, I love catching up with these men and their women and I enjoyed Masked and cannot wait to more books in the series.

Carnac the Magnificent Dom
Loved this line in Angel's new Honor Bound Series. Angel has an amazing talent that mixes this story up with humor as well as emotional turmoil. This is the 7th book and the characters get sexier with each new release. Tess Lesange and Dan Colton are co-workers and best friends. Dan was badly hurt during a recent mission and Tess was with him every step of the way on his road to recovery. Tess can tell Dan anything and everything. She unburdens her most private dark secrets and desires to Dan. Angel has done her homework on BDSM interaction and writes these scenes beautifully. You feel what each of them are feeling and experiencing, its off the charts.
Dan has scars both inside and out and the way that Tess shares and strips her soul and innermost feelings to Dan to bring him back from the abyss is truly a work of writing art. Dan has endless securities to work out and Tess stands firm by his side. Dan's undying devotion and love to Tess was bliss to experience.

No more masks needed
Masked, by Angel Payne, book 7 in the Honor Bound Series was a wild ride. Dan and Tess were great friends. Tess being there for him while recovering from the burns he got while saving some nurses in a fire engulfed hospital. He confessed in her about his dark secrets and she did the same about her desire to be dominated. And wants him to be her dominate. He refuses. But when he see her at a club one night everything changes. He puts on a mask to hide his identity and dominates, Tess. The mask finally comes off, and after some turmoil between the two, they find themselves in love, and happy together.
Masked, by Angel Payne, book 7 in the Honor Bound Series was a wild ride. Dan and Tess were great friends. Tess suddenly forgives Dan (all because he holds a rose at his press conference, s symbol that only Tess would understand) for his behaviour and goes to him and all is forgotten. A bit too easy for me, I felt that Dan should have worked for Tess’s forgiveness and I was disappointed that Tess who had showed so much bravery in going after what she wanted would suddenly cave without demanding more form Dan. I wanted to see them work out their differences and how she overcame her feelings of betrayal. I wanted to see how they got to their HEA and I felt let down that I didn't get that. Of course all of this is just my opinion.
Having said all of that, I can assure you that if I see the name Angel Payne, then it will always be an automatic purchase. I always love catching up with The Wild Boys and I enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I rec'd this ARC from the author for an honest review. I have waited and loved Dan Colten's story. Angel, you never ever disappoint! He was the CIA's pretty boy, good looking and charming ways usually got him what he wanted with work, women and life and being very rich didn't hurt! When his face is burned and his good looks are taken away from him while being the brave hero he is, revenge is all he can think/ dream about. He feels he is a beast and will never have his beauty again! That was until Tess his best friend and co-worker in the CIA shares her feelings for him and her wishes to share in his kinky side- BDSM (he's a Dom). He denies her request to her face but..... This is the very bumpy love story of Tess and Dan, with other characters in the background. There are many emotional layers to this book, hate/anger, passion/love, trust, surrender, bravery, and hot kinky(BDSM) sex (lots of it!!!). This is a well written book with simple and complex characters that will make you laugh,cry, and hope for the HEA. I loved this book and would give it 10 stars if possible! Can be read as standalone but better for background and characters you need to read them all........

The hero, of this latest installment of the WILD Boys series, makes me think of what it would be like to take a peek at Batman's sex life ... masked, manacled and marvelous! This is the first novel of the WILD Boys series that I've read, so it is quite different than the previous Angel Payne novel that I reviewed. This book had action and BDSM but it seemed to have more of a Romantic aspect to it. Which was sweet, but don't get me wrong it was still all kinds of SMEXY!
"A WILDer Kind of Love" is a much different novel than I was expecting. However I really enjoyed seeing the loving and emotional aspect of the BDSM part of this Romance novel. The action played more of a role of book-ends to the relationship development of Dan and Tess. The character of Dan grew tremendously from anger over his disfigurement to embracing his battle scars - both physical and emotional. Tess' growth wasn't as pronounced however she did come to see that with relinquishing some of her freedom she gained more power. "A WILDer Kind of Love" didn't have as much action as I was anticipating (most happened "off screen" as it were) and I had hoped. But the novel made up for it in a friends to lovers romantic and sexy BDSM story.

I love the Wild Boys series and when I got the chance to read and review A WILDer Kind of Love I was delighted!
Angel did not disappoint when it came to Dan & Tess.
I loved how they got on as friends - even if it did take something to go wrong to get them there....
Tess's attraction to Dan was more than obvious though for a while I wasn't entirely sure how our main man felt about her.
Our leading gal is so very strong because she has to be and her wish is to have someone that she can be with and trust enough to allow her to submit and let go.
Dan is a Dom but since his accident he hasn't let himself go back to that part of his life.
One night at a BDSM club Dan sees a very familiar face and this pushes him back into his Dom role.
Once the action in the Catacombs started all bets were off and it was more plain to see how he felt about Tess.
Following a really intense and scorching hot evening with his little sub I was frustrated at his thoughts and concerns about telling Tess the truth - even though I knew he had issues and that's what was holding him back!

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review and honest is what I'll give you. I started reading Angels books just last year and I will say they just keep getting better. I'll admit I have read them out of sequence but I'm not lost because you can read then as stand alones. I do have this whole series and I'm playing catch up. This was an emotional story about Tess and Dan. The minute Dan stepped into the Catacombs and put on the mask and the reference on the Phantom was used I was done for. There is no other character or play that I love more than that. Tess is a strong woman and I love that she can see beauty still within in Dan past his physical and emotional scars. She has her own hang ups that she needs to over come as well. I enjoyed their their friendship, scenes, and everything in between. I'm looking forward to the next book. I know with Angel I won't be disappointed. I'd recommend this as well as the whole series if you want a bit of everything and ISO mean everything

This book stole my heart with Dan and Tess. I would have to say this book was hotter than I anticipated. I highly recommend reading this book as you can’t help but feel a connection to these characters. Dan is scarred not just on the outside but on the inside as well. Can Tess help him heal since she is the closest thing to him? This book can be read as a standalone but highly recommended to read it in order.

Damn, CIA Ken is even better in this book - than the teaser's we got through all the others. Angel Payne can tell a story and she did with this book. Dan Colton hiding is the shadows because of this accident that left his face scarred - stays in his darkness. Tess his best friend and CIA analyst has wanted him for a long time. But she wants the kink and Domination he has left behind...

I fell in love with Dan. I kinda liked him when he made appearances before, but Masked made me fall in love. I cannot give enough praise to Angel and her awesome writing. She draws you in and you do t want to stop until it’s finifhed. Waiting for the next installment of this series will be torture.

Sexy and secretive, Masked is another intriguing story in the Honor Bound series. Dan and Tess are close friends, but not close enough for Dan to help Tess with an... issue. When she goes to a BDSM club, she meets a familiar, but masked, man who helps her in every way possible.
I loved Tess, and how she went for what she wanted. She was determined and refreshing. Dan was a heartbreaking tale. He was so blind to himself and what he has to offer. He needs to feel worthy of himself.
Masked was a sexually intense story. I loved these characters, and how strong their background was before getting together. Masked was complex and well thought out. It was paced a bit slowly, which at times was tough because I was desperate to know the outcome.
While this book is part of the larger Honor Bound Series, it reads perfectly as a standalone.

How can I just have one favourite couple from the Honor Bound series when with each book I read from it, I fall in love with each character and each couple?

In Masked, we meet Dan and Tess and honestly this book was not only HOT as hell but it was a unique story and grabbed my attention from page one!
Dan: An irresistible Dominant, a man that had it all, and could get who and want he wanted with a snap of his fingers, he was a man that used his looks to get the job done. Use his looks to his advantage. But that all suddenly changed and after a devastating mission and severe burns to his body, he’s no longer able to rely on his looks, and his charm has slipped, he goes into a deep and dark place, he withdraws from his family and friends, not only having scars on the outside, he’s suffering with some on the inside, but isn’t one to open up about them. He becomes a shell of his old self. He finds himself in a vanilla relationship with a woman wants nothing whatsoever to do with the BDSM lifestyle, yet Dan continues to crave it, he needs it, and he knows this relationship isn’t right for him but he continues to lie to himself and put himself through torture denying himself something he needs.

Dan and Tess have stolen my heart, mind and soul!
I read this the first time in one sitting (yes, I said the first time!). After I finished, I just sat in my chair re-living it and I immediately started from the beginning and read it again!
I’m finding the words to describe this book hard to come by! I am a true and loyal Angel Payne fan and the Honor Bound series has always been my favorite, but Masked is now my favorite by far of all of Angel’s books.
The story just pulls you in and you focus on Dan and Tess individually, but also as a couple. Their insecurities, their demons, their desires and most importantly, their love and devotion for one another. In this book, Angel’s writing surpasses anything she’s written before - the descriptors, the emotion, the banter, all of it is just so perfect, it pulls you in and connects with every single character. It was so good to 'see' some of the others from the series - I just love these people!
I absolutely loved this book and if I could give it 10 stars, I would. If a story pulls me in, I’ve always been that person who can get lost, completely shutting out the world around me and be transported to the place I’m reading about..but there aren’t many books that allow me to do this lately - well, Masked took me on journey and I didn’t want to come back! Another 5 star read by Angel Payne! She kills it with every single Honor Bound book and this one continued the trend! Dan was someone I was really looking forward to seeing more of and this book did not disappoint at all.

The seventh book in Angel's HONOR BOUND Series, MASKED does not let her readers down. In fact, she has turned up the heat even more!!!
Dan Colton and Therese Lesange are former co-workers, and both have deep feelings for the other. Couldn’t put it down!! Such an amazing book. I’ve loved every book in this series, but I have to say Tess and Dan’s book blew me away. Could Dan be more broken? After his accident he builds a friendship with Tess she’s always been a constant in Dan’s life post accident. Tess knows Dan has a Dominant side but he keeps it buried under all of his insecurities. She is drawn to the dominant side and even wants to explore it first-hand. They both have their demons and insecurities. Will they be able to overcome them? Will it lead to love and a happily ever after?
Emotionally charged read and I highly recommend this book. Ms. Payne has stepped up her game.

Masked by Angel Payne is the seventh book in the Honor Bound Series. In my opinion this is another 5-Star read from an amazing author. I am not one to give away the whole story, I would rather leave that up to the readers to experience on their own. Angel has a way of pulling her reader into the story and making them feel the emotions of the characters.
This book brings together Dan Colton and Tess Lesange, a story of dominance, insecurities, love and an amazing journey. Will they be able to find a way to make it past what is on the outside and see what is on the inside? This is another one of those books that you will not regret reading.

If you've never read Angel Payne you should really do it!! Masked or book 7 of the Honor Bound series was one of my favorites of the series. Dan Colton was injured in his last mission, where he obtained burns to his face while saving some nurses trapped in a build. Since his injury he has stepped back from the one thing that would help him the most, being a Dom. His best friend Tess Lesange wants to be dominated and asks Dan to be her Dom, which he refuses because he is afraid he will loss the friendship he covets. However when he ventures to BSDM club and see Tess there he realizes he can't stand the thought of someone else introducing her to a Dom/Sub relationship. Sparks fly, secrets unravel, passions flare.

Another 5 star read from the great Angel Payne. I have yet to read one of these books that I wasn’t sucked into the story and and in love with the characters. This was no different. This is the story of CIA special agent Dan Colton and Tess Lesange, aka The Laser in the CIA’s Vegas office. My heart went out to Dan and everything he endured as it did to Tess loving a man she couldn’t have. Starting out as good friends, they unknowingly, on Tess’s part at first, took a journey exploring their own needs through BDSM. I loved their journey together and apart. The Honor Bound series is such a great series and each book gets better.

Each Honor Bound book I read I say is my favorite so Masked is now my favorite (Winks)
Dan and Tess's story take the forefront here and all of that pesky CIA business is in the background.
I am a big BDSM fan especially the D/s dynamic.
I love how the author takes us through scenes. As she beautifully describes in detail the different nuances, feelings and sensations.
The story and characters become all to real as Dan and Tess both struggle with insecurities and embark on the journey of their lives.
