Best practices for Postfix--the popular alternative to Sendmail.Developed with security and speed in mind, Postfix has become a popular alternative to Sendmail and comes preinstalled in many Linux distributions as the default mailer. The Book of Postfix is a complete guide to Postfix whether used at home, as a mailrelay or virus-scanning gateway, or as a company mailserver. Practical examples show how to deal with daily challenges like protecting mail users from spam and viruses, managing multiple domains, and offering roaming access.
As of December 5th 2011, all of my ratings are based on the simple fact that books that I have read and liked all get 5 stars until I can go back and re-rate them properly - not this one.
I have read a decent number of computer related titles and, though this one needs an update, I consider Ralph and Patrick's "The Book of Postfix" to be among the top books written on any technical subject. They've put together a clear and concise guide to the best (in my opinion) MTA out there.
There have been many changes to Postfix since this edition was released (we're up to version 2.8.7 now) and I would love to see a second edition.
