Amelia saved her parents, saved the USA, and maybe even saved the world. But she’s not out of it yet. Aliens are coming and they aren’t planning on playing nice. When huge drones with unbelievable firepower fall from the sky, it’s up to the Full Metal Superhero, some new friends, and old allies, to stop them. However, alien drones aren’t the only thing falling from the sky. If Amelia can’t find a way to defeat the drones, and stop the threats from old enemies, she might just be at the end of her rope. If Arsenal falls… humanity falls with her. Enjoy book three in the ONGOING, Full Metal Superhero
Award-winning Journalist and USA Today bestselling author Jeffery H. Haskell thinks he should always be himself… unless he can be Spider-Man. Then, he should be Spidey. He’s a lifelong lover of comic books and science fiction, and he owns his geek status by quoting Aliens and Star Trek at every given opportunity. When he realized he could make a living writing about his obsessions, he jumped at the chance. With the incredible support of his amazing wife and spectacular children, Jeffery lives the dream of bringing his imagination to the page and on occasion, he writes about love and marriage.
Inescapable Arsenal (Full Metal Superhero #3) has a much gloomier feel than did the first two books in the series. There is, though, much of the same non-stop action and highly caffeinated energetic narration that brought so much entertainment to the first two installments.
In “Inescapable Arsenal”, our plucky heroine finds herself tormented with panic and self-doubts, and makes some bad personal decisions as a result. There’s much debate about whether free will exists, and I really miss the optimistic, silly, can-do anything attitude of Amelia’s earlier books.
The ending presents quite the cliffhanger, and given that Tantor Audio has declined to continue producing the audiobooks, we may have to wait longer than wanted for the author and Emily to deliver more in the series. 3* for “Inescapable Arsenal”.
I'm really enjoying this series and the continuing adventures of Amelia as she struggles to deal with her new responsibility as leader of Earth's superteam.
Not quite as good as book 1 and 2, but differently on the side of enjoyable 3.5 stars.
After saving the world, finding her parents and getting a big heap of recognition from those in power things are looking up.... right? Nope... not quite. Amelia has to fight a new thread and it might not be human. She has to defend the planet against a possible Alien Invasion.... one she might be responsible for...
Overall this was an enjoyable novel, but it lacked some of the more easy-going elements of the previous novels. Things get more existential in this one and unfortunately self-doubting and panic attack ridden Amelia are not as fun to read about. The series shifts to a more serious tone and truth be told. That isn't why I liked the previous novels and also why this one rates lower than book one and two.
I'm still interested in book four, but I'm definitely hoping for a more upbeat novel next time.
NO!!!! How can you stop it there? This is going to be a short review because I am off to start the next book and find out what happens next, yes that means it ends on a cliffhanger so he prepared to want ...no need the next book. Once again this is a full action adventure worthy of the silver screen. I did miss out book two (somehow) and I get the sense that I have missed out on a lot of changes, so even though it does work as a standalone I think I will be going back to catch up. Think Iron man but with the twist that the main character is a teenage female in a wheelchair, yeah girl power! I really like the characters, even though Arsenal is going through a personal crisis in this book. The addition of new team members is fun, each with different still sets, it really balances out the team and adds much needed banter to end of the world situations. Epic the A.I is still my favourite though . Off to jump into the next battle. Knowing the future doesn't help when you know the end is coming but you don't know how to change. This is the problem for Arsenal, She can form a new team but how do you fight Aliens that have been studying you for years? Locking yourself away from friends and family, shut up in your lab or only training isn't working and it is time Arsenal tries something different. Can she come up with a plan? I liked the narrator. She puts the pedal to the metal in this full action adventure and doesn't hold anything back.
The alien invasion, predicted to result in the extinction of mankind, begins.
After the events of the previous book, Arsenal has been tasked by the President with building a new super team to protect Earth.
Many of the problems from the beginning of the series have been solved: The dialogue and internal monologue issues in the first two books in the series seem mostly resolved and any issues I had with the narrator are no longer noticeable. The rate of Arsenal's technological progress seems to have been slowed down to something more typical of a superscientist from the comic books.
There is some significant character development for the protagonist (though this is a short book, so that's inherently limited). And the world-building is also proceeding apace. The plot is a bit scattershot, but it moves well. The lack of focus does limit the impact of the story, though.
The one big problem I have with this book is that the ending is a full-blown cliffhanger. If I hadn't already acquired the next book, I would be angry, but as it is, I'm just annoyed. These books are quite short; there's no reason for them not to tell complete stories.
The book is entertaining enough for what it is, but it's very insubstantial. If you're a comic book fan, this isn't a bad effort, but if you're not, it's unlikely to make you one.
I like this book very much, but I don’t like the way it ended. The author made a comment that he thought his books or too short but he could’ve ended this one on a better note I am awaiting the next book. I suggest anyone likes robots Iron Man should read this book, start from the beginning.
These keep getting better and better. The action is good. The plot is interesting. The characters grow and are developing at a believable rate. Amelia is a great character. I’m starting the next one immediately.
These are intelligently written and loads of fun. I recommend this whole series.
Loving that Amelia has grown into her leadership role despite an initial hesitance. Was not expecting the ending to this book - not a fan of cliffhangers - but this can be easily remedied with a timely release of book 4. *wink* *wink*
And after that ending the next book can’t come soon enough. Super hero novels tend to be either very good or pretty bad, and Arsenal is at the top end of the scale.
Fun book, fun series, but 3 books in, Amelia still doesn’t really ever show much character growth, and her team’s plot armor is getting ridiculous. Also, this book ends in a painfully jarring cliffhanger, which bugs me. Still, I enjoyed it for the most part.
Amelia is definitely growing into a power to be reckoned with. This was a great book showing us things to come. I did not enjoy the cliff hanger ending, but I guess it can be forgiving as long as the next book is available soon.
Ok this books really go down fast. Decent plot pace and easy to read but still fun. I liked the second novel a bit better than this one but it was still good. I'll definitely keep reading this series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Amazing the Arthur is a master at his craft , it is strong enough to hold a candle to any of the traditional heroes from Marvel& DC I believe they should pitch him an offer... Well maybe DC because Marvel already has Iron Man lol
We go from Amelia knowing everything to the world growing to nothing is certain anymore. It a Rollercoaster of a super tale that goes outside the bounds for sure.
While not quite at the level of the previous two volumes, Inescapable is still a great ride as Amelia's adventures continue. Haskell is an expert at writing a thrilling ongoing narrative.
This ones a bit more of a filler in between two major events l feel, but still has some good action happening, and also one where we brace for new characters coming into there own. Still im keeping on track for the rest of the series.
I thought this was a great suspenseful fast paced read. It felt perfect for a superhero graphic novel in my head which is why I love the characters, the world, and Jeff's writing. Highly recommend it! On to buy and read Alien Arsenal!
The story continues with really creative twists and dramatic character growth (hard to say more about the plot without spoilers). This series is one of the best superhero stories I've read.
