First published in 1949, this spiritual classic by Neville Goddard captures the same intensity of thought and conviction which made Goddard famous amongst progressive thinkers. In this volume we see not only a profound religious feeling, but also a sense of the dignity and responsibility of human life. Our own feeling about the results of his experiments as a whole is that they are not just an addition to our existing knowledge, but require a revolution in our whole way of thinking about the world.A wonderful read!
Neville Goddard was a writer, speaker and mystic. He taught various self-help methods for testing his own claim that the human imagination is omnificent, therefore God. He achieved popularity by reinterpreting the Bible and the poetry of William Blake.
I like to listen to these New Thought audiobooks on YouTube as a kind of verbose existential guided meditation. Kind of a nice temporary antidote to negative thought patterns, like a fecal implant of self-affirmation
#8 of 25 loa books Good The cornerstone on which all things are based is man’s concept of himself. He acts as he does and has the experiences that he does, because his concept of himself is what it is, and for no other reason. Had he a different concept of self, he would act differently. A change of concept of self automatically alters his future: and a change in any term of his future series of experiences reciprocally alters his concept of self. Man’s assumptions which he regards as insignificant produce effects that are considerable; therefore man should revise his estimate of an assumption, and recognize its creative power.
"It is our conception of ourselves which frees or constrains us."
The Law of Assumption/The Law of Attraction beautifully put into simple words and explanations by Neville Goddard. This one also includes step-by-step guides for manifesting your desire(s).
Vintage pseudo wisdom that’s pretty skin-level on the deep thinking front, so it appropriately includes a lot of Bible quotes. Some nice little diversions into human imagination and lucid dreaming, though I don’t necessarily agree with the author’s assertion that these are of much real significance, especially when there are billions of humans that do it every night. Still, I came away with a few trains of thought. Here's the big takeaway: if our world is just a shadow of an abstraction of a reality that can branch out into just one of multiple infinities that you cannot even begin to comprehend with the mental scope that was GIVEN to you by some being whom you can also never fully comprehend, then what possible good can it do to even contemplate it? But hey, while you’re here suffering you only have to zoom-enhance envision your own totally selfish reality down to the tiniest pore details in order to manifest it, so you know, not hard at all in the face of everything already solidified before you by countless headstrong people who, to the death, were and are only out for themselves.
I can understand why this is a classic, but the book still has some warts!
Goddard relays enough profound thoughts in this little volume that I'll read it again. At the same time, 30 percent of the book is just gobbledygook wishful non-sequiturs.
If you could boil down this volume to the truly profound stuff, then you'd likely only have 5 pages of material --- but finding those golden nuggets makes it worthwhile to suffer through the rest.
This is my first Goddard text, but it won't be my last. Definitely a worthwhile read.
Another version of 'The Secret', only this one is more crisp, to the point and provides answers in meta physical terms as to how our imgination manifests our reality. I liked it more because I could relate to how my desires have manifested in my life even when I was unaware of it. Here on out, I'll attempt to design my life more consciously and when I experience its manifestation, a part of my gratitude would be owed to this book.
"At every moment of our lives we have before us the choice of which of several futures we will choose." (p.3)
Neville Goddard focuses on the transformative power of meditation. It gives the reader an "out-of-this-world" approach on attaining desires as it explains our three dimensional world and adds the fourth dimension of time. Goddard explains how within this dimension of time exists a "dimensionally larger world," which individuals can tap into through meditation, imagination, and unwavering determination.
"We have only to concentrate on the state desired to mentally see it, but to give it reality so that it will become an objective fact, we must focus attention upon the invisible state until it has the feeling of reality." (p.19)
"Instead, make elsewhere here, and the future now. The future is a reality now in a dimensionally larger world." (p.9)
It underscores the importance of attitude and consciousness in shaping the future. Of course, by mere thinking alone, changes won't necessarily happen, but it is the self that has to change first in order to mold the circumstances that will fulfill our desires.
It's a complex yet enjoyable read that takes the concept of meditation and presents it in a very unique way that doesn't seem repetitive to what we're used to seeing.
"There is nothing to change but our concept of self. As soon as we succeed in transforming self, our world will dissolve and reshape itself in harmony with that which our change affirms." (p.47)
I adore Neville Goddard. He and his teachings are definitely a gateway to expanding your awareness. However, I don't think much in this book is anything new or that he hasn't covered in his lectures. One quote I do like, "Therefore, in meditation when you contemplate others, you must be seen by them mentally as you would be seen by them physically were your concept of self an objective fact." This book is great for beginners or anyone needing a refresh, perhaps, or motivation to bring what is 'out of this world' into the 3D.
This audio book is an intriguing exploration of spirituality, personal growth, and the interconnectedness of all things. While I found the audio book thought-provoking and inspiring, I can understand why some listeners might find it a bit heavy on the super-natural elements. The discussion of consciousness, existence, and the universe as a whole is fascinating, but for those who prefer more concrete scientific or psychological insights, this may feel a little abstract.
That said, Goddard's ability to weave together science, spirituality, and personal experience makes "Out of This World" a compelling listen. If you're open to the idea that your consciousness could be part of something much larger than yourself, there's much to enjoy here—whether it's the metaphors, the anecdotes, or the practical insights into living a meaningful life.
If you're looking for a book that challenges your thinking and offers a unique perspective on what it means to live fully and intentionally, "Out of This World" is definitely worth exploring. Just be prepared for a journey that dips deeper into the unknown than some listeners might expect!
A relatively short, but, good book. Gives insight on how to think "four-dimensionally", specifically using the imagination to get what you desire in the external reality. The whole premise of this book is: by controlling your imagination, you can reshape your future. But imagination on its own is not enough, you must combine that with the true belief that your desire is fulfilled; the conceiver and the conception being one, no longing for the desire existing.
However, I found this book extremely difficult to comprehend, rereading sentences multiple types to grasp the ideas being conveyed. There are many instances that unnecessarily complex words are used - maybe it is due to when the book was written by Neville - which make it a difficult read overall.
Hence, I would not recommend this book to readers who do not speak English as their first language, or do not have strong reading skills to begin with; I would recommend Think and Grow Rich which allows a novice reader to fully comprehend the ideas, principles and doctrines.
“1. Define your objective—know definitely what you want.
2. Construct an event which you believe you will encounter following the fulfillment of your desire—something which will have the action of self predominant—an event which implies the fulfillment of your desire.
3. Immobilize the physical body and induce a state of consciousness akin to sleep; then, mentally feel yourself right into the proposed action—imagining all the while that you are actually performing the action here and now so that you experience in imagination what you would experience in the flesh were you now to realize your goal.”

This is a short book, literally 21 pages. I anecdotes the shit out of it so it did take me all day.
As an avid fan of Goddard I must say I wouldn’t recommend this short story out the gate to someone unfamiliar with his works or the topic of manifesting in general!!! Although I love the conciseness of this for my own understanding, I also don’t mind repetitiveness in the context because it really is the key concepts to take away and live by that we constantly need to be reminding to ourselves as conscious creators.
This book was an amazingly simplified break down of a highly complex subject, that is the true sign of an author's competence when they are able to make it simple and digestible to anyone and still get to the root of the subject matter, this is the stuff that should be compulsory in schools and we as a people would benefit hugely by getting back to cooperation and and not competition.thank you
This is such a great read. The 4th dimension really resonated with me. I see where our imaginations and working From our Ideal Parralel World combine for materializing our desires. Also the change within creates the change outside of us. Deep meditation.
Very simplified, logical explanation. Gives so much clarity on the concepts of manifestation, thoughts, dreams and time-space. Goddard even gives easy steps for changing the future by assuming the feeling of the desires/wishes being fulfilled in the four-dimensional world and how it can then transalte into reality in this three-dimensional world. Good read!
I quickly chose an audiobook to listen to, like rn about an hour ago. A 1949 book, my second Neville Goddard read.
This book was all about time perception. Sorta on the ~~manifesting~~ the future side of things - which idk much about. Nonetheless, still a relaxing audiobook. A very big thank you to the Master Key Society for uploading this on YouTube.
I like this book only due to the great imaginative nature it has. I wouldn't take it so seriously or so practically. And I think everyone should read it with that in mind. Creativity is finding links between two unrelated things and Neville just does that perfectly! And he makes sense in some peculiar way, but at the end of the day, he has no proof for it.
Wondering how to effect real change in your life? Neville reveals the spiritual basis of real change in the earthly journey we are all on. Enjoy this easy to read book and learn the fourth dimension and how to use it to effect the change you desire for your life. Ed Palmer
The world before it happens in real life happened somewhere else.
The idea of a world imagined has to occur in a plane of existence either in thoughts or mental universe in our mind. To be able to implement your own creation into the real life is such a gift and this book teaches us on how to slowly improve our visualization capabilities.
A small book with a surprisingly big punch. Goddard turns imagination into a tool for shaping the future rather than escaping it. The ideas feel mystical yet land with striking clarity: your inner world scripts your outer life.
It makes you rethink how many of your limits are just thoughts on repeat. Even if you don’t buy every claim, it pushes you to take ownership of your mindset.
The second book of Mr. Goddard that I have read. It's another short read and so spot on. If you're looking for some clarity an understanding about manifestation, subconscious and conscious, this is THE BOOK.
Short but brilliant book that builds on the Law of Attraction, and a reminder that we are what we believe and think we are. The main idea here is also directly linked to another work "Feeling is the Secret"
a pro-meditation philosophy from the 50s, but i would not go to label this "metaphysics", it's not like the "fourth-dimension" exists like that...meditation and achieving inner calm is a positive though.
This is more focused on self-concept and its importance. How we think of ourselves, persons, and our experiences are mere reflections of how our self-concept is wired. For everything lives in our imagination and is made true through our imagination. This was a fast and eye-opening read.
