I have one week to marry a billionaire. Or my little sister will die.
When Claire Andrews returns home from college for the summer, her little sister is rushed to the hospital due to a life-threatening heart condition. On her twenty-first birthday, Claire will receive a trust fund set aside by her late father with enough money to cover all medical expenses.
The catch?
Claire must marry a rich man or her access to the trust will be denied.
Her childhood crush, Benjamin Lewis, is a twenty-eight-year-old billionaire business mogul and New York City’s most eligible bachelor. When Ben agrees to marry Claire, her financial problems are solved.
But will the price Claire must pay in return be too much for her heart to bear?

Cannot wait for you to read Benny and Claire's story! This book was so hard for me to finish, because I wanted to stay lost in this world with these characters forever. It was different from any other book I've ever written, but I truly enjoyed the process of writing every single page. So I hope you enjoy reading An Arrangement as much as I enjoyed writing it. <3 LMM
Claire has put her summer plans as hold as her sister is in the hospital. Claire plans on using her trust fund to help save her. However there is a catch. She has to marry someone rich to receive her trust. She approaches a childhood friend with a proposition and he accepts. This is the story of their arranged marriage and how they deal with stress, sickness, family, and dealing with your feelings for each other.
The characters in this story drove me crazy. There were many times that I wanted to throttle them. I even put down the story at times because they had me so frustrated. Claire has many things to deal with and at times I wanted to slap her, wanted to cry with her, and wanted to hug her. Benny was such a sweet and loving person. He was always there for Claire. Claire's mom......well you will just have to form your own opinion.
Kudos to Ms. Miller for writing characters that will fire you up and a story that brings forth so many emotions.
I really loved Benny, he was such a sweet guy, "Benny looked over me with a smile. “I was watching you. I’m always watching you.” I really liked this book, hated Claire's mom though.
I loved the synopsis for this book. When I saw it I was like "I HAVE TO READ THIS!"
However, I was really disappointed. I didn't like all of the doubt and questioning coming from the heroine. She was so "woe-is-me" and it got old. She had no confidence and that bothered me a lot. I didn't like how gullible she ended up being.
The only saving grace in this book, in my opinion was the hero. He wasn't thrown off by the situation and actually WANTED her even though she never believed it was more than, well, an arrangement. He was steadfast in his want of their relationship. That was admirable.
I absolutely detested the heroine's mother. She was terrible for what she did. I kind of hate that things went down the way they did.
The writing was good and the hero saved this book. A three star read for me.
I am not a fan of romance. At all. However, I am a fan of Lindsey's 6th novel, An Arrangement, a contemporary romance story. Wait. What? A CR novel? Yes I can bend sometimes.....and for Benny I can bend and lie down!
The plot is excellent, the characters are strong, and the scenes flow well! This story definitely pulled that one pesky heart string I possess! Claire is a young women, forced to become an adult too quickly. Decisions she is forced to make impact not only her life, but her sister's life as well. Enters Benny! I absolutely love this guy! From his first interaction with Claire as a kid to the very end of the story! What a story!
An arrangement is the perfect palette cleanser for a break from the pitch dark! I proudly recommend this story!
I really wanted to enjoy this story. I couldn't totally get into the story.
Claire is not the best of characters. She is supposed to be this smart woman in college and everything. Her mother is a gold digger apparently, that is why her father put the money in a trust fund for the girls (even though the one is dying) but yet Claire and her sister can't touch the money until they are 21 and married? Oh, and they have to marry someone that is equally wealthy to them.
Then you have Ben that was a friend to Claire, so they have a history. And this is the only person she trusts to help her out.
I don't know there were just too many things going on with this story that made no sense. I had to force myself to finish this book.
This was Benjamin and Claire's friends to lovers story. Claire Andrews' sister has a serious heart condition. With family money running out, she must use her trust fund to help pay for treatments. She'll get it on her birthday which is just a couple weeks out but there's a condition. She needs to be married to someone with his own money. Enter her childhood crush, Benjamin Lewis. They haven't seen each other in years, but there's chemistry, and he fits the bill with the money he's earned himself.
Benjamin Lewis always liked Claire. He watched over her and always promised to be there and protect her. When he went away to college, they lost contact. To say he's shocked when she shows up at his office is an understatement. He jumps on the chance to marry her, and her financial issues are solved. Can he convince her that he's in it for real?
Ben...or Benny as only Claire called him, was simply amazing. He was patient with Claire and really would do anything to protect her. He had his secrets and seemed afraid to tell Claire how he really felt. He was the one who would do anything to hold onto the new relationship, even after the terms were met. I loved that for him, it wasn't temporary.
Claire I didn't love as much. She didn't stand up for herself with her horrible mother. She took on the main responsibility for her sister, which was very admirable. I wanted her to act more like the Harvard student she was, and see the way her mother acted for what it was. It was obvious she still loved him, but she had a lot of fear and regret. I didn't care for all the whining and the way she treated Ben. After all, he was doing her a favor right? What I really wanted was for her to understand what her mother was doing, and bust her! I found a bit of respect for her when she started to grow a backbone, of course with the help of Ben.
Overall, I enjoyed this read. This was my first book by this author, and I'd definitely read more. There were a few twists that hit out of nowhere. Ben and Amy were my favorite characters, but Claire definitely grew on me.
An Arrangement by Lindsay Marie Miller is the first book in her Summer in New York series. It is not my first encounter with this writer so my expectations very pretty high. An Arrangement is the story of Benny and Claire who have known each other since they were kids. Their parents used to summer next to each other in the Hamptons but now, they have drifted apart. Claire has always had a crush on Benny and unknown to her Benny has always ‘watched’ her … And then there is Claire’s younger sister Amy who is sick and needs experimental treatment … and her biatch of a mother that simply drove me batty! I loved the story of Benny and Claire working on finding their way towards togetherness, still, at times they simply drove me bonkers, Claire with her insecurity and Benny with him kindness. At times I thought that he was too sweet and too kind … anyhow, it was a sweet easy read in the midst of all the heavy reading that I have been doing lately and when looking at the line-up I have on my kindle. Sometimes one needs some heart-warming romance with great characters and that is what An Arrangement is! Pick up your copy and keep your fingers crossed for Benny and Claire and Amy and hate your heart out of Claire’s mother!
This is my first Lindsay Marie Miller read and I'm grateful for knowing of her through this free reader's copy.
The storyline isn't completely new to me but what was unique was that it was the female protagonist who was looking for someone to marry in order for her to access her trust fund— on the condition that the guy has to have an equal financial standing or more... Claire Andrews' dire situation forced her hand to do something this ridiculous in order for her to be able to financially support her very sick younger sister...
To be honest, I had mixed feelings reading this book... I was kinda dangling until the last couple of pages. Claire became annoyingly indecisive and just kept on living inside her head. I cant blame her for over-analyzing and over-thinking, but I was already way passed the middle of the book and Claire still cant seem to pull herself together. It was exasperating... It was like a build-up only to be let down... And for someone as established and commanding as Benny, he cant seem to grow his balls and man-up. The up and down was kinda' dragging...
But despite all of what I've said, this story did have it's redeeming qualities... like the unrequited love element, which gave me butterflies in my tummy... and that part of the unwavering love and acceptance of a sibling to another, would definitely pull on your heartstrings.
This story is a wee bit angsty, but sweet and swoony as well. For the fans of Jay McLean, J. L Berg, Brittainy Cherry, Beth Rinyu and Lisa De Jong, this is the book to pick up next.
A 4.5 star read for An Arrangement, Summer in New York Book 1, by Lindsay Marie Miller. This is a new to me author and I was so thrilled to read this book. Claire has been in love with Benny since she was a little girl. And once again he has become her saving grace. Claire’s younger sister is gravely I’ll and the only way that Claire can pay for her medical treatment is to access her trust fund. In order to do that, she has to be married and married to a wealthy man at that. She can’t imagine herself marrying a total stranger so when she approaches Ben with her proposal, she is relieved when he says yes. They have about a week to plan their wedding before Amy is due to start treatment. Claire has so many things going through her mind. Is this strictly a marriage to save her sisters life or is it possible that this marriage is the real deal? I could not put this book down, I loved it and I can not wait for Book 2.
I received a free ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. That being said, my opinion is my own.
This story had a lot of potential, it really did but certain aspects of this story rubbed me the wrong way. The leading lady had a lot going on in her life but good lord was she a complete ninny. Almost everything makes her cry, good bad, whatever. She should be dehydrated from all that nonsense. The male takes knight in shining armor a bit too far. I think the story would have progressed farther and seemed more realistic if he'd pushed her more. They were both sweet with each other though. I liked their interactions once they started talking
Lindsay Marie Miller writes a pretty good story. This was my first read for her. I think the characters were well written and the story line was good. I'd do anything for my sister too. I think the story was a little more drawn out then I would have liked, but hey... I'm not the writer. There was a good amount of push and pull between Benny and Claire. Benny was just happy to have her and Claire was reluctant to believe it was real due to the arrangement they made. Either way everyone is happy in the end. I don't wish ill will on anyone but I really hope something tragic happens to Claire's mom in the next book. She deserves it.
This story had me hooked. From page 1till the end I loved the journey and turmoil the characters go through was so perfectly described that I felt every up and every down. A beautiful combination of character and story that allows it to flow well.
Overall this was a good read. It really didn't need to be this long though. Claire and Ben have known each other since they were kids. So when Claire has to find a husband she asks Ben. The relationship was really wish washy and got on my nerves. Thankfully in the end everything worked out.
An Arrangement seems like a straight forward enough story line, Claire needs money to save her sister who has a heart condition. She's exhausted all traditional treatment and the only thing left is to pay out of pocket for experimental drugs. Problem is their expensive and Claire doesn't have the money. Lucky for her her mother tells her of a trust her father set up for her that she'll come into on her 21st birthday, a trust that comes with strings attached. In order to inherit Claire must be married but only to a man who is worth as much or more than she is.
After no so careful consideration by her mother she decides on an old friend, Benjamin Lewis. She's known him since she was 8 years old, the first boy she had a crush on, the first boy she loved, the first boy to break her heart. All of this unbeknownst to Ben as he was 8 years older than her. Claire has to man up and face him, ask him to marry her just to save her sister. It doesn't take much convincing, he's willing to help in any way he can. Thing is he wants this marriage to be real while Claire is completely messed up in the head thanks to the sadistic witch she calls mom.
I so adored Benny from the beginning. He's such a good man, good heart and beyond sweet. He was patient and tried to be so understanding while dealing with Claire's crazy along the way. An then there's her mother. That woman deserves to rot in the most vile place ever. She put money, status and herself above all else, and most importantly above her children. I won't give anything away, just know that she's the single most selfish, horrible mother ever and what she did to her daughter was unforgivable. No matter how the story ended that demonic bat shouldn't get a happily ever after.
I wanted to love this story but Claire's inability to make up her mind drove me nuts. I get she was dealing with some stuff but Ben was her rock, he was solid, always there for her and she couldn't get it through her head. Had she not been so flighty I'd have loved her, I mean she was selflessly giving up everything for the possibility of saving her sister's life but the way she went about it made me want to knock some sense into her! 4 stars.
An Arrangement By: Lindsay Marie Miller 1 gave this one 5 tiaras:
I loved this book and read it quickly. Overall, this book was a good and quick read. I loved the romantic chemistry between Claire and Benny. I loved that they were each other’s first crush when they were both younger. Claire is a girl that has been dealing with a sister that has been ill all of her young life. Claire has always taken care of her since her parents have always been dealing with their own lives. They were always wealthy and therefore they always had what they needed. Since her father’s death, her mother is still selfish and doesn’t really care about anyone but herself and what can she buy next. However, Claire has to think about making sure her sister can make it to her next birthday. Now, there are only treatments that are questionable and may not even work but they are very expensive and of course, insurance won’t cover them. Lucky for Claire, she is about to come into her money from her trust, since her father’s death. There is just one problem that she didn’t count on, she has to get married in order to get it. The person has to be as wealthy or wealthier than her at the time of her receiving her trust money. Claire doesn’t even have a boyfriend and now she has to find a rich man to trust and marry in a few weeks before her 21st birthday. Enter Benjamin Lewis, he was the crush from when Claire was growing up and her best friend forever until College took away the time that they spent together. Now she has to find a way to ask him to marry her and keep the secret from friends and family that this is for her to get her money. Not to mention keep this marriage platonic since it is a business affair. Happy Reading—how do you think it will end?
‘An Arrangement’ by Lindsay Marie Miller was a first time read for me by this author and was an enjoyable read. 4 stars for this read that I enjoyed although it still had an infuriating character in Claire’s mother. The premise of the book is one that I (and probably most of you) have read, its a marriage of convenience that turns into so much more.
Claire returns from college and has to put her summer plans on hold as her younger sister has a heart condition and after exhausting all conventional treatments the only thing left is to try some experimental treatment. However in order to try these treatments Claire has to come up with money and although she is due to get her trust fund there is a proviso on it that she has to be married in order to get it but not just to anyone but to someone who has there own money too. This is where Benny comes into the picture.
Benjamin (Benny) is 28 years old and an independently wealthy billionaire who also happens to be Claire’s childhood crush. Clare approaches Benny with a proposition and he agrees to help her out. As a character he comes across as a caring, sweet and supportive individual that is also hot. He is very patient and there when Claire needs him most.
My biggest frustration with this book was with Claire’s manipulative mother and then impact her behaviour would have on Claire. Claire’s mother was mainly interested in money and what she could get and unfortunately this has Claire taking steps back and doubting her connection with Benny. Overall this is an easy read told solely from Caire’s point of view but for me Benny was the star.
I hated her, I loved her, I wanted to choke her, I cried with her, I cheered her on, I cheered with her. Dang Claire made me tired. That girl pulled more emotions out of me than the 31 flavors at Baskin Robbins. This was an amazing read. I don't do 5 star reviews oftern but I have to take my hat off on this book.
Oh Lord why can't I have an arrangement that turns out like this. Claire needs help in so many ways. This poor girl is a mess. When things get too much and she really needs a way out she turns to the one person that was always there for you. She is one that truly makes you feel like money doesn't make a person happy. When betrayal comes from so close it is even harder to take. But Claire does survive and is even able to forgive when the truth comes out.
Then there is Benny. While he has his own issues they pale in comparison to Claire but he loves her, always has always will. He holds her when she cries and is there every time she reaches out. But . . . .
This is my first by this author, I am of the firm belief that if you have exhausted my emotions you have done me good in a book. This is not a book with loads of sex scenes, actually what is there is very tame. This is a story about a love that started off and developed at a young forbidden age, never acted upon until the opportunity presented itself. Well written, a really good look at the characters and so many details we could each relate to. In my book that made it 5 stars, even if I did want to slap the tears off that child's face.
An Arrangement was a tug of war kind of romance with a big emphasis on the latter. Their love felt like they were at war and therefore the romance aspect never really took off for me. Despite that the writing and characters managed to rile me up and bring out many emotions in me and for that I commend Lindsay Marie Miller. After finding out her little sister needs an expensive treatment to survive, Claire has to find a man to marry so she can access her trust fund and pay for it. Enter Benny. The guy she loved as a child who was too old for her then. Benny agrees to the marriage arrangement, and then the story takes off.
I didn't quite like Claire. She was basically a whiney brat and whined entirely too much. She was very wishy washy in her feelings for Benny and I feel like it gave me whiplash. Benny wasn't all that better, he was moody and cold one second and super sweet the next. I just didn't feel like either of them were adults. If they communicated better half this back and forth between the two of them wouldn't have been needed.
I wanted to love this story, but the character's constant back and forth just wouldn't let me. Unfortunately the romance spark just wasn't in this book for me. I will say that the emotions are bright and vivid throughout.
Where to start... my favourite character had to be Benny for a billionaire mogul he was the sweetest. He loved, he worked and he was respectful... not many attributes you would describe for a man in his position.
The plot while many would think as funny was exceptionally serious and discussed a very touching subject. The struggles these characters faced were immense and don’t get me started on Claire’s mother... what an absolute a**hat.
My biggest gripe is with Claire who was always crying about some small trivia, leading Benny on at every moment possible then wondering why he sometimes went cold and was generally portrayed as a very weak feeble child she so desperately didn’t want to be. The back and forward really drove me crazy... when you thought they had taken a step in the right direction Claire pulled them back by 50 and this was the general jist of 80% of the book. It was clear that she had a lot of issues that stemmed from childhood and I would have liked to explore her recovery from those traumas. I would have also liked to have seen her stand up for herself, especially against her mother.
All in all this book had potential, if you like a weak heroine and a strong but sweet hero then this book is for you.
Infuriating read but one that I couldn't put down. It made for compulsive reading.
So basic premise: Claire needs to access her inheritance so her sister can receive life saving treatment. Claire needs to be married to be able to access it. Enter childhood friend and billionaire, Ben, who agrees to an arrangement to help her out.
Let me start by saying that Claire's mother is a manipulative, selfish and nasty bi**h putting money before family and doing her best to confuse Claire and her feelings for Ben. Claire is constantly insecure in the arrangement and unsure of what she wants with Ben. This was the frustrating part as she draws back constantly when they seem to be moving forward. It is clear that her youth and her inexperience compound the problem. This is purely from Claire's POV but it would have been interesting to understand elements of this book from Ben's POV as Claire's frustrations bleed off the page.
A darn fine read with interesting characters, interesting conversations but little actual talking between Ben and Claire.
An Arrangement is the first book in Summers in New York series by Lindsay Marie Miller. It is a contemporary romance, that has a lot of drama, tension in spades, a heap of push/pull, and the characters emanate so much sizzling chemistry. Claire Andrews is almost twenty-one years’ old, and is about to start her final year at University, studying economics. She had plans to do an internship over the summer break, but all her plans are put on hold when her younger sister ends up in hospital in a critical condition- caused by a rare heart condition. To save her sister's life is going to require a vast amount of money which Claire just doesn’t have. Claire is losing all hope when she discovers that her father had left her a substantial amount of money that she can access when she turns twenty-one. She is excited to find this out, as her birthday is the following week. Then, she finds out that he left a stipulation to her claiming the money, which is that she also must be married- and to ensure that she doesn’t fall victim to a ‘gold digger’ it also stipulates that the man she marries must also be a millionaire. So, no pressure then! She has a week to find a millionaire, convince him to marry her just so she can claim her inheritance to pay for the lifesaving treatment for her sister. Benjamin Lewis (Benny) is a twenty-eight-year-old, very wealthy billionaire- and one of the city’s most eligible bachelors. He and Claire have known each other since childhood- he’s also happens to have been the first crush for the young and adoring Claire. They spent many summers in the Hamptons in each other’s company but when Ben went away to college, they lost touch. It’s been a few years since she’s seen him and she hopes he may be willing to enter into an arrangement with her- marry her so she can have the means to help her sister. That’s not too much to ask, is it? Surprisingly he agrees and so the ‘Arrangement’ begins. But what happens when old feelings begin to bubble to the surface? Claire begins to worry that he will end up breaking her heart. Will this unconventional arrangement turn into more than either of them bargained for? Okay, so this book was really well written and the plot was fantastic. So why have I only rated it four stars instead of five? Well, for a number of reasons which I will explain….I really would have loved to give this story five stars but felt it fell short. First of all, Claire frustrated me to death, there was too much push/pull and erratic behaviour from her. I understand she was under a lot of stress due to her sister’s illness and from her self-involved and money grubbing mother- but her doom and gloom, fatalistic viewpoint was so overbearing at times and completely exhausting! It just dragged on for far too long for my liking. Benny deserved a gold medal and a parade in his honour, for putting up with it and remaining caring and supportive the whole while. Then don’t get me started on the sexual tension, which Ms. Miller conveyed brilliantly- but again it dragged on waaaaaayyyy too long. But, I really do enjoy Ms. Miller’s imaginative and unique storylines, and I am looking forward to her next book.
My first thought was that the initial writing was beginners work. To descriptive but in bad ways. "where my delicate little sister, weak and feeble as she was, lay in the pale shape of an unwell figure." Seriously, the pay shape of an unwell figure? The next page, the doctor suddenly is smiling and greeting Claire as if he hadn't just spoke to her a few minutes before and as if he is delighted to see her. The delight and happiness seems completely at odds with his seriousness a few minutes before and totally out of place for the seriousness of the situation.
Her mother's behavior is really odd as well. Clutching at her late husband's handkerchief as if very sentimental yet also acting oddly heartless and materialistic in a way that you know she was a gold digger before the author gets around to making it clear.
I'm going to give Claire a pass on all her crying because her sister IS really in danger of dying any time and she has just been told that her mom is out of money and they may not be able to afford anymore treatment. But Ben seems so wishy washy and he seems like he has a split personality. He swings from sweet, generous, and caring to being as bossy, demanding, and self-centered as Claire's mother.
Another thing that is totally unrealistic is that at one point Claire's thoughts indicate that they are 'upper middle class'. This makes me think that the author might be really wealthy or really poor. The idea is that the distinction is being made between Ben being a billionaire and now having more than her family or than his was when they were young. But the life styles and homes being described are not ones that the 'upper middle class' can afford. So maybe a person growing up in extreme poverty might think that or someone who grew up super rich might think if they were trying to downplay some of the families. People in the actual middle class can see that it is way off.
Now some things later on that are really bother me even more. Amy's doctor performed surgery and replaced the WRONG heart valve and acts like it isn't that big of a deal. Then Claire finds out her mom still has loads of money and didn't want to pay for Amy's medical bills and tricks Claire into using the small amount of money her father left her to pay the bills for mom. There are NO penalties to either the doctor or the mom. This does not sit well with me. Since it seems pretty clear that their mom would have been willing to let Amy die rather than pay for her medical bills, she should lose the care and custody of Amy but no, she still has Amy.
There are so many problems with this book that I have to tell people not to bother with reading it.
An Arrangement: A Billionaire Marriage of Convenience Romance (Summer in New York Book 1) By: Lindsay Marie Miller 5 out of 5 stars
The story An Arrangement: A Billionaire Marriage of Convenience Romance (Summer in New York Book 1) by Lindsay Marie Miller is a wonderful book that I enjoyed reading. It is the story of how far an older sister would go in order to save the life of her younger sister. It is the story about first crushes, best friends, and promises. It is a story that had my emotions on a roller coaster. There were times when reading that I was frustrated or sad. Then there are times when reading this story it would touch my heart and I wanted for the two main characters to find a happy ending. I loved the characters of Claire and Benjamin. Claire is a woman that if asked Benjamin would tell you that she is smart, kind, and beautiful. That she loves her sister is not in doubt. In order to receive the money from her trust fund to pay for her sister’s medical costs, she is willing to agree to the terms of the trust that was left for her, that she is married in order to get the money. This has her turning to her childhood best friend and crush Benjamin. This leads to their arrangement, one that they both say they are doing for her sister. Benjamin doesn’t even seem to think twice when he agrees to the arrangement that Claire puts before him. He made a promise to her when they were younger that he would always protect her and be there for her. These two have a complex relationship. They keep sending each other mixed signals. Claire keeps telling herself that Benjamin is just helping out a friend and that it is nothing more. Then that are other times when the feelings that she had and still has for him come through and she finds herself wanting this marriage to be real, not just an arrangement. To me, Benjamin is a man that through his words and actions shows that he is genuinely in love. Claire does frustrate him at times and these two have disagreements. What does the future hold for both Claire and Benjamin? Will Claire listen to her heart and love Benjamin that way she has always wanted to? Will they find their HEA? This is the second book that I have read by the author and I have found her to write wonderful stories that include amazing characters. Her books catch my attention from the very beginning and I find myself not wanting to put them down until I have finished the last page. This is the first book in a series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
What an interesting take on a fake engagement! An Arrangement is such a unique novel. This book has a little bit of everything. There is sexual tension, family drama, secrets, lies, and a fake engagement. If you like a whirlwind story, then this is the one for you. The plot was fascinating. I love fake fiancée/marriage books. There is just something about being thrust into a situation and then finding feelings that calls to me. An Arrangement does this for me. The plot is written well. The story line is unique to most fake engagement books. There is a whole back story to go along with the present story. I think this part was done perfectly. The characters were written well, but I had trouble understanding them. Ben is an interesting character. He obviously has his own agenda within the book. I liked learning about what that is. Claire, on the other hand, is a hard character to like at first. I found her to be a little bit immature and rash. With that being said, I learned to like her by the end. I loved her loyalty and determination to take care of her sister. The heat in this book is slow burning. There is sexual tension throughout the story, but things don’t heat up right away. These two characters have history which adds a layer to the relationship that enhances the story. Add in the high stress situations that they are going through and the banter between the two, and you can almost feel the crackle of electricity they cause. The writing style is where I found issue. The pace of the book was steady and the content was written well. What I didn’t like was the back story. While I am glad it was there to add depth, it also made me feel weird because of the age difference. I felt it was a little too much. The other issue I found was the relationship between the characters. There was a lot of back and forth. Now this may be realistic, but for me, it was a turn off. I did like the mother character. She was the perfect villain. I also liked that it was told from single pov which was Claire. I think it kept us wondering about Ben. Overall, this was a good book. I enjoyed reading it. I would recommend this book to others. It is perfect for anyone who enjoys fake fiancée books. It would also be good for someone who likes family drama and secrets. This book did have its downfalls for me, but overall, I would read it again. Ratings: Plot: 5/5 Characters: 4/5 Heat: 5/5 Writing Style: 4/4 Overall: 4/5
An Arrangement: A Billionaire Marriage of Convenience Romance (Summer in New York Book 1) by Lindsay Marie Miller is my favorite of her books so far. I enjoyed how she took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I felt compassion, anger and enjoyment with this book. I enjoyed her writing style that keeps me engaged until the end. I also enjoyed her creative details that pulled me into the characters world. Her characters are creative, connectable and true to life. This is the story of Claire and Benjamin. This story starts with Summer and Claire's younger sister in the hospital because of a heart condition. The doctor seems to have a solution but it is experimental and insurance doesn't cover it. Unbeknownst to Claire that her mother can't pay for it, she agrees to the treatment. Now she is put in a position to find the money. Knowing that she will get her inheritance in a week when she turns twenty-one, she thinks that is how she will pay until she finds out the stipulation of her having to marry someone who is wealthy. This is where Benjamin comes in. They grew up together so Claire goes to beg him to marry her and he does. What will happen after that is where the story starts getting hard to put down. I won't give it way, so you will just have to read this story to find out what happens to them. These are two strong characters, even if you don't much care for Claire. She is kind of like her mother, a little selfish and into herself. But I was happy to see her grow throughout the story to become what she is at the end. Benjamin seems to be just the opposite. He has determination to marry Claire and make it work. Does he have enough strength to stick with her? I will say that both these characters made me angry at times because of attitude but it does follow the plot. The secondary characters are pretty much the same, some are great and other will make you angry because of attitude. But again, without them, the story wouldn't be the same. I highly recommend this story, you will want to see what happens with these two characters. Is there a HEA in their future? Is it possible that a marriage will work until these conditions?
A Arrangement (Summer in New York #1) by Lindsay Marie Miller, when your sister has been diagnosed with an illness what would you to get her the medical care she deserves, well Claire has to make that decision, will it be the right one in the end.
Claire Andrews has just come back from college to discover that her younger sister who she has always looked after is seriously ill. As all the conventional medicines has been exhausted she needs to find the money to carry on treatment but there is a catch her deceased father set up trust funds for both of them but they do not have access to them until they are twenty -one and are married but there is also stipulations around that, they have to be rich.
So as Claire tries to find a solution she instantly thinks of Benny her friend from years ago at the Hamptons, he helped her when no one really cared and he promised to protect her. So as she made an appointment to met him she was worried about the question she needs to ask him.
Benny is now not the boy she remembers from the holiday getaway, he is a successful Billionaire and works non stop, why would he agree to the question Claire is about to ask him, the only thing he has dreamed about her for years.
I enjoyed the way the story weaved through the vulnerability of Claire and the way even in death her father still manipulated her with the clauses within her trust fund. I also wanted to hug her when really Claire has no real person to lean on as her mother is selfish and not really interest in Claire or her sister but the money that will appear when the plan in actioned. The relationship between the main two characters fascinated me aswell as they have not really been friends for ages but Ben is willing to do anything to help Claire.
This is the first book I have read by this author and the style, pace and just likeability of the characters makes a great read. I would definitely read more books by this author in the future.
Claire is back from Harvard for summer but all her plans had to be cancelled due to her younger sister's illness. Her sister has serious heart condition and it turned for the worst. She is willing to do anything to save her sister. When her mom reveals she doesn't have enough money to cover for her treatment, Claire decided to use her trust fund. Except her trust fund comes with one little condition. She has to over 21 years old and has to marry someone who is richer than her. She has to find a husband in a week so she could save her sister. When Claire's mom suggest Benny from her childhood, she decided to take a chance and asking him. Benny was her childhood crush ever since 8 years old. When her family would visit Hampton's during summer,. Benny would take care of her and comfort her. He was everything to her until he went to college. When she sees Benny who became billionaire financial mogul and proposition the arrangement. She wasn't sure he would accept but he agrees to marry her. Now she has a week to get married and everything seems moving too fast for her. Her mother is in charge of all the wedding stuff and she is just going along with it. But what she doesn't realize is that she didn't really plan what would happen after the marriage. Once she gets her trust fund and pay for her sister's treatment than what. What about Benny? How long she keep the marriage to Benny. Ben always been there for Claire and is very patient with her. Claire needed to find out if this would be an short arrangement or is this for real. He supports her through out her emotional outbursts and stands by her. Through out the book, Claire did drove me nuts with her self doubt and not relying on Ben. Ben is most wonderful person in the book. Claire's mom is piece of work. Even though she is mother, she doesn't seem like she really cares about her daughters, all she care about is her status, material stuff. She won't even pay anything or sell anything of hers to help her daughter. I really enjoyed reading. This was different take on childhood crush and arranged marriage with twist. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
An Arrangement by Lindsay Marie Miller 4 star review Read and reviewed on behalf of 2 girls who love books blog. It didn’t really take me long to be completely hooked into this book and usually I know if that happens within the first chapter then I’m going to be in for a good book! This book was almost a 5 star for me! It was really well written and had a great storyline but I just struggled with the main character! On one hand I respected her for doing what she had to help save her little sister but she was also pretty flighty when it came to Benny, who in my mind was pretty amazing! He was always there for her, comforted her when she needed and agreed to the arrangement in the beginning! I think the author did a great job with character development, especially with Claire even if I did struggle with her at times, I can see where the author was coming from – all of her life Claire had this ideal, perfect relationship in her mind, the perfect fairy-tale ending and she is struggling with the fact that it’s not happening that way and she is obviously very conflicted over this. I really, really liked Benny’s character – I wouldn’t mind an arrangement with him!! I really enjoyed this story and as mentioned before it didn’t take me long to be hooked in it – I liked that this clearly is a story that shows how you can fall in love at a very young age and when that time is right you find your way back to each other. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books! I would definitely recommend this book as a HEA story and give it 4 stars!
