From an overcrowded council house in Norris Green, North Liverpool to the opulence of Marbella on the Costa del Crime. Via Istanbul, Amsterdam, Heysel, Switzerland, Jamaica, New York and Toronto; this story plots the life of an ardent supporter of Liverpool Football Club who fell into the murky world of drug dealing as a young teenager. A genuinely funny and occasionally terrifying account of life as a cheeky Scouser trying desperately to extract himself from his nerve-racking lifestyle. Rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous one day, plunged into the depths of despair the next and constantly looking over his shoulder to keep one step ahead of the police, SOCA and jealous associates. Love, laughter, betrayal, espionage, music, terror, passion, travel and football provide the backdrop to this compelling life story; originally written from a prison cell by way of an apology and explanation to his beloved Mum.
I have read and heard about drugs, but never understood the ducking, diving and overall sheer terror of Drug buying and dealing. The aftermath to all this is family. Paul tried to shield his but even he couldn't do it in the end. This book gives the human side of tragic events not just a massive Liverpool fan, but a waste of talent. His life could have been one of music manager, but the easy money of drugs always pulled him back. Until eventually he understood he needed to make amends. A truly wonderful book.
What a wonderful and fantastic read, your typical stereotype image of a Scouse scally conjured up in your mind as you read, what a funny, sad and thoroughly entertaining life story, I would highly recommend this book. Well done Paul and here's looking forward to another book if you have any plans to release one. All the very best for the future.
Loved this book as live in Merseyside & am s similar age as the author so all the music & club references really struck a chord with me. The footy bits didn't really interest me but is obviously an integral part of Liverpool life. A good read
Inspirational fellow , went to work with the tools handed to most of us council estate kids and survived the murky world to come out ( not unscathed ) the other side . I wish the author well in all of his future endeavours .
