This was a cute and short romance between two bear shifters who have had a tough year previously. I liked that their romance was slow building. Knowing what they had been through, it was nice seeing realistic reactions to a potential new relationship. Gabe was such a gentleman and I liked how understanding he was with Caitlyn.

If you are looking for a shifter romance full of inner bear dialogue and shifting, this isn't it. There is very little of those components. It is novella length so it's a short story that can be completed in a couple hours. Unfortunately, for me, I felt it ended too abruptly. Not only was I left with quite a few unanswered questions, the story just ended when Caitlyn and Gabe were getting intimate. Overall I did enjoy the story though. It was well written and I'm hoping there will be a follow up so we can know what happens with this couple in the future. I would also like to see Tina get her own story.

Not a good ending

Omg I'm so pissed. This book was good but the ending was crap!!! It ended right in the middle of them doing the nasty. No penetrating yet but that's not what made me mad. He was getting ready to tho down and then bam the end. I want to know what was going to happen. Did they get together or was this a one off? Did she ever fully get over her husbands death?? I have too many questions. There was really no talk of them being mates like the blurb says. They just had a attraction for one another. I don't know if I would recommend this book, it was too much of a disappointment.

I don't understand how the author can call this a 'holiday' book. Holiday books are supposed to be light and fun. Books about a widow/widower character are not light and fun, they are sad, depressing, and ruins the entire life book for me. The fact that she so easily replaces her late husband bothers me. The fact that she wants to sleep with another man while greiving her late husband bothers me. Everything about this book bothers me. This is not a 'bittersweet' book, as the author calls it. It is a horribly depressing book. I won't be reading this author again, and left her ARC team over this book because I was so upset over it.

I love the shifters stories by Emerald Wright, and this one was no different.
The story is very mature, and shows us all that Caitlyn had gone through after her husband's death, and when she decides to move from town to start over, she meets Gabe, who is also a shifter like her.
When Tina decides to help the two get closer, the relationship that develops is very mature, since both have gone through difficult situations and just want to be happy.
I loved the story and the ending, I just wish it had developed a little more at the end and shown them both turning into bears.
I highly recommend the reading.

The Next Step

Overall, this was not a horrible story but I did find the title did not do the story justice. As this is a novella I don't want to give any of the story away so I will not explain my comment any further than to say being mentally and physically hurt requires a healing of the heart and soul not just body. Stepping out of the known for the unknown can be liberating as well as just a bit intimidating.

I did enjoy a story were their being shifters was not the focal point of this book. Well done Ms. Wright.

To be honest, this is a romance story. Has a little of the holidays in it but not much. Even though the two main characters are bear shifters, they never shifter. They do have some inner monologue with their bears. So don’t expect any big paranormal in this.

The two main characters have faced death. She is a young widow and he recently survived an accident that should of killed or paralyzed him. But fate steps in and helps them meet. And then the romance really begins.

A Mature, Quiet Slice of Life

A slice of life novella about letting go and moving on. I thought the progression toward a more intimate relationship between the main characters was believable. This is a mature, quiet love story with a wide open ending. I would like to recommend that the author find a good proofreader. Some of the errors were funny - like when he "kissed her check". Others, not so much. I'm glad I read this story. For me, it wasn't a Wow! story, but it was a good reminder that we all celebrate life in our own way and time. Enjoy!

This is a true romantic love story. Caitlyn and Gabe are both bear shifters but it is not an important part of the book. They never shift in it. Both are healing at this time in their lives, especially Caitlyn who recently lost her husband, that she really loved, to cancer. Gabe had had a serious accident, where he had faced death, and won. He is ready to find one to love, but Caitlyn is not sure she is ready. What develops is a slow movement of attraction to love between them. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I then bought my own copy. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed Gabe and Caitlin’s story. They were sweet and sexy and had to overcome so much in order to be together. Despite this being a novella, the ending felt a little incomplete. I would have loved to see an epilogue that showed Gabe and Caitlin’s relationship in the future

This is a sweet romance about two people finding love unexpectedly. While they both are bear shifters, the paranormal aspects are not really the focus of the story. It is a quick read with an ending that will probably leave you wanting more.

Shifter

I was really enjoying the story. Loved the characters. Everything Caitlyn was going through was so right. Gabe was such a gentleman. He knew he wanted her but was willing to take things slow. Just as the story heated up it ended.

Sweet story

Gabe and Cailtyn have both seen their share of pain and struggles for their young ages. They can help heal each others scars of the past.
